It's been over three years since my last review. Lots has happened. I have given up scrap booking and such and now am an avid crochet - er. I've been going to JoAnnes and Walmart for my yarn when I decided to give Michaels a try. I hadn't been in years. What a pleasant surprise. They have a much better selection of yarn than either Joannes or Walmart. The prices were much better than some of the specialty yarn shops I've checked out. I still say that their scrap booking section looks a bit thin and the fake flower section DOMINATES the store. But they now are my first stop when I need some yarn so that makes me want to bump up my first star rating of 3+ years ago. Also, I've never had any problem with the staff. They have all been very nice. I will say that there are not very many of them tho. read more

My wife and visited this store (#8526) recently. I'll start by commending the store clerks, whose names I regrettably forgot, because they took the time to greet us each time either of us walked in the door-- we were coming in and out while checking out various baskets. The key thing that stuck with me - these were no standard "we're saying hi because we have to," these were genuine greetings where they recognized we were coming in and out, and tailored their greetings as such. However. The management left something to be appreciated. When my wife needed to use the restroom, someone needed to be called to unlock the door. Nobody arrived, yet two aisles down two employees were talking. My wife eventually had to go next door. Later, when we were paying for our baskets, we attempted to claim a $5 coupon, the store clerks were unable to find any more. They asked the manager, the same person who had been talking two aisles down from my wife and the bathroom, and he said, in an attitude that CLEARLY exemplified that he didn't give a sh*t, "while supplies last," and walked outside to continue his conversation. No: "Sorry, folks," in fact, he didn't even bother addressing us. It was a disheartening attitude, rude and inconsiderate, and fairly upsetting. There are SO MANY better, more customer friendly approaches to handle a customer concern. The manager at store #8526 clearly didn't care to apply any of them. read more

I started off at the framing department.. I had to almost walk in to the framing shop to get attention. Once the lady saw me I got a lazy half eye roll. Very short answers and when she answered my first question she turned around to walk away.. I wasn't done and had another one so I forced it on her.. Again.. A single line reply and poof.. Presto she was gone. Other representatives were too bothered to help me and once I did find one who was willing to help.. She didn't have the knowledge. Rethink about any purchases before going to this store. Once you've purchased an item, you own it... NO RETURNS unless they are allowed to swipe your drivers license into there Companies Customer Data Report, even though the item is in its Original sealed plastic, unopened along with an original CASH purchased receipt one day after purchase. I don't understand the reason for the harassment and humiliation of returning something you don't want. Why do you have to be Identified for a CASH PURCHASED RETURN when you've provided the original receipt? Why does ANY consumer have to have their IDENTY placed and held hostage in a Computer Data Base as a suspect of wrong doing? What's really upsetting is their Manager allowed this behavior, after I declined to allow the store to have my personal information. Again, this is a CASH PURCHASED RETURN with a RECEIPT!!! I hope Corporate is reading this Complaint because there are concerns when Consumers are faced with NON CREDITCARD RETURNS WITH RECEIPTS... Is one to think you have to be carded to purchase a Candle Maker every time you decide to purchase with CASH? Or... Is this a monitored item on the 18 years and older list like the aerosol spray cans? In the end, they lost sales Saturday from me because I was offended and humiliated by being categorized along with "Wrong Doers" in a database. I PURCHASED WITH CASH, I HAVE THE RECEIPT... I usually shop at this location but after today I think I will consider going to the one on Irvine Blvd. or Hobby Lobby. It's a great store, have been coming here for years without any complaints. But today everything changed..... I was doing some shopping today with my three year old and he had to use the bathroom. Oh. My. Gosh. This is perhaps one of the nastiest bathrooms I have ever been in. I don't think it has been cleaned in months. Not only did it smell like a cat box but every surface had a layer of scum on it. There is literally piles of dirt in every corner! The toilets are stained to the point of no return and of course they were out of toilet seat covers in both stalls. I didn't want to think about the germs crawling around in there. I was nauseated. Of course I had to let my child go potty, I was dying. I had to hold him above the toilet so he didn't have to actually come into contact with the sticky brown toilet, all the while screaming "don't touch anything!!" The sink looked like it was growing hair! Luckily I had hand sanitizer in my purse. I would have been crap outta luck if I didn't because there was no soap, no paper towels. I just can't believe this is a bathroom in a store, I wanted to burn our clothing when we finally escaped. What kind of manager is okay with this? Do the employees use this restroom on a daily basis? If they do then not one of them washes their hands...! That's all I could think about as I took my bags of purchases and receipt. These specific 5 stars ONLY goes to a certain employee here at this location, and not for anything else about this store. Came here today to purchase a planner for my crazy 40hr work week + full time school. Saw that they had a sale on their Happy Day planners, but I didn't know anything about the additional accessories that came with it because the planners were module making them customizable. Sooo I went to go ask the cashier if she could radio someone to possibly help me at the planner aisle. A wonderful and VERY VERY helpful woman named Susan R. came to the rescue with Such a Big Smile and GREAT attitude came and she helped me pick out everything I needed for my new customized planner. And lastly I asked her where she had the gel pens, she gladly walked to the the right section and then even suggested I get a binder-like cover for my planner where I can store those gel pens. The best part is that she caught a signage mistake on where I grabbed all my stuff and honored the price reduction ! Good looking out Susan!! After going here for years and years, this is the first time I have EVER... EVER gotten such great customer service from this place. All thanks to just one wonderful employee!! So it doesn't have the setup of the lines like the Savi Ranch location, but these ladies working here HUSTLE! Came in here on Friday evening and the line was insane! They've come up with a system where they scan all your items in your cart while your in line and hand you a card and when you get up to a cashier they just scan the card and give you your total! Its smaller and a little harder to get around in but I give my props to the people that work hard here!! read more

If you're looking for great customer service, DON'T COME HERE! Melissa, the store manager, was no help. I waited for about ten minutes in line for a cashier to finish up with another person. When she was done, she looked at me and said she couldn't help me and that she had to clock out. Gee thanks. Could've said something ten minutes ago!By this time there's another line if people waiting to be helped. Had to get behind them and wait another ten minutes. When I finally get help, I tell the store employee that they need be more organized. She was rude and said there was nothing she could do about. No apology. No thank you for coming in. I love the Michaels chain of stores. However, this store is poorly staffed and poorly managed. I didn't have the nerve to tell my seven year old we couldn't get the scrapbook supplies we needed to finish grandma's present today, so we spent about 35 minutes waiting in line to make our purchase. Only one cashier was available in the front while 3 other employees roamed the store discussing their weekend plans. I won't come back to this location again. Several individuals became upset and the cashier explained "it's a seniority thing- they won't help customers in the front". One staff member just stood there and watched- seeming confused when I asked why one of the other four registers could not be opened. How disappointing. read more

The staff are generally not trained and have little knowledge of store products. Worse, some staff had an attitude when asked for help. The return policy is very unreasonable that insisted on the wrapping could not be removed. How on earth a product could be tried without unwrapped? Don't go there if you could help. read more

I work next door, so I am constantly popping in here. I have never received bad customer service in the entire 6 years I've shopped here. I suck at remembering names but there is a black haired cashier that is awesome and gave me some helpful advice on a project I was working on. It was my first experience trying to matte a very sentimental picture and she took her time and explained all my options to me. It was such a great experience and I am excited to see how great the picture will turn out. My go to for my crafty projects. Recently received a coupon for online ordering, saved $10.00 on a Christmas decoration for a friend. Ordered online, had shipped to store as no shipping charges, indicated would be delivered 12/5-12/7. I ordered on 11/28. Was a little disappointed, was hoping to have by Christmas party on 12/3. But the savings was worth it. Received an email on 11/29 that had shipped, no indication of any changes in dates. Finally today, 12/7, I called the 800 number, as when I attempted to track through USPS, no info found! After finally getting a live person after the computer call told Me there was no information after the order was placed on 11/28!! Panic starting to set in as the charge has already been paid and no merchandise!! The Lovely Kwan (?spelling) assisted me, found the package had been shipped on 11/29 and RECEIVED at the store in 11/30!! She asked if I had received any notification of the receipt by the store. Nope, last notification was the item had shipped. She gave me the store phone number. She said they would hold it for a few days and if didn't pick it up, it would be returned to the warehouse. I next called the store, "oh ya, we've had that for awhile" Yes, I just found out after calling the Call Center. Why wasn't I notified when you received it? "That's not our job to notify you." Well, whose job is it? She then transferred me to Debbie who confirmed my item was still there. I told her I would be in tomorrow. Easy Peasy to order, quick delivery to store, greatly appreciate the $10.00 discount and free shipping, but be warned, you will have to do your own follow-up. I am a last second sorta person so getting specific items immediately is top most concern. I usually have pretty good luck finding the random things I need for various projects. Recently, I called to inquire about specific mosaic tiles and was pleased with the attention they gave me. Not only did she find the item in their computer system and physically walked over to the shelf and grabbed a box for me, she also commented on the visual quality of the specific item I asked for. It seems like she really cared about me getting what I need. I agree with the other reviewers that you can probably find similar items at other specialty places for cheaper. However, how many other specialty places would you need to go to find everything you need for your project? Would it be worth your time running around town? read more

Why is the place dark!!!!! I had a hard time in the store because half the lights were off. Are they trying to save money on their electricity bill or something. I don't get it. I needed to get a couple things and I had a hard time reading the boxes and packages. Also this place is never stocked witht he stuff I need. Worst experience ever!! Went here for an exchange. As one of the frames I purchase had damaged corners.. Walked in with a giant frame - not one of the employees asked me if i needed help. So I waited at their customer service desk for 5 mins while the employees were just talking and stocking the shelves.... Where's the customer service??? I found one of the girls stocking and asked her for help at the customer service desk... She said they didn't have one... ummmm there's a huge signed saying customer service help desk..... What??? I will not be shopping at this Michael's again. I went to this store to buy a basket for a Christmas gift. I found a box that would work much better. On a whim I also bought two small Christmas bags of hot chocolate. On the display it said $6.99. So I thought I would buy them for my sons for Christmas. I was charged ten dollars for these stupid hot chocolates! The cashier was rude about when I brought it to her attention. She claimed it was the right price. It does not matter it was only a couple of dollars, but that is false advertising! At first I thought the box I had purchased was not discounted, but it was. But the women claimed it was originally $50 dollars! How stupid! This place is way over priced, the customer service is horrible and rude. Without a doubt the worst employees. Absolutely zero customer service, almost zero job knowledge and bad attitudes. Extremely disappointed in the lack of service I saw here today. No one asked if I needed help finding anything, and when I asked an employee passing by, she said "if they haven't moved them, they're somewhere over there" and pointed in another direction as she keep walking by me. I never found the product I was asking about. Then, after roaming the store and gathering a few small items I needed I proceeded to checkout where I waited in line, with a group of 5 other people waiting (one one was quite verbal with her opinion on the lack of service), while NO ONE manned the registers! Finally one girl, who never said a word during checkout, scanned my items and handed me my receipt. Not one word spoken. I won't be coming back here. I'd rather drive an extra fee miles and pay a few extra dollars and shop elsewhere. read more

I go to the foothill ranch Michael's all the time without issue, but this location for some reason is just horrible! The selection/stock is about 60% that of all other Michael's and super messy. They actually have 1 1/2 aisles full of broken or used crap with prices on about 50% of the items and all of the rest are "guessed" at the register with a sign that states "Clearance". This is not the worst part though... My husband and I went here and it was super crowded (plus the aisles here are 1/2 the size of other locations, so carts plus customers is really tight) we were having trouble getting down aisles with our cart so I would sporadically leave our cart out of the way in a corner or near an end aisle. After doing this several times I went back to get the cart to move to another aisle and poof it's gone. I start looking everywhere obviously confused. Mind you, not one of the 3 girls working there that I passed ever stopped to ask if I needed help. I finally gave up and asked a petite blonde girl with a permanent scowl on her face if she had seen my cart and described the items I had inside. She said yes we took it back to the front with the "Go backs". I said "ok, why?" She said "it was there for a really long time" I said ok and began walking to the front all the while thinking,"is 2 minutes a really long time?" In the world of Michael's apparently 2 minutes is an hour (??) anyways I find my husband already up at the front searching through the "go backs" trying to find our cartload of stuff. I'm met by a brunette lady in her 50s sorting through another cart. I asked her why they would bring a cart back here after a few minutes? She said "well, we don't want to be here all night" no apology, no sympathy, or slightest attempt at customer service, just pure attitude. I decided to just walk away from her with the new cart I grabbed nearby. As I make my way to the register I hear several of the girls talking on their headsets hooked to their radios, they were mocking my husband and I loudly with statements like, "I know like who cares it's a cart" and "those people are so annoying" I felt like clocking one of these girls but politely paid for what I was able to find after their sorting job and left, knowing I'd use Yelp as my revenge instead ;)l read more

I must have been in and out of this store at least 3 times this week. Each time I was there the staff was very friendly. What prompted me to write this review today was the young lady working in the framing department, Jacqueline. She took her time helping me pick a mat and was very patient while I was trying to decide. Good job Michael's! read more
