Before you even get in the store, the parking lot is an absolute mess. For some reason, they've decided to rent out half of the lot to massive trucks that completely obscure any vision. I doubt that the trucks are customers considering it's a Michaels. However, they are there every single time I go taking up spaces and making it look generally like a works site. The selection is varied in a most useless way where everything is two dollars more expensive than it should be. If they're going for a speed run of losing profits hand over fist; quarter after a quarter like they're committing Seppuku then they are doing a fantastic job at this Michaels. Additionally the clientele are the most socially inept people on the entire planet. GETTING HERE: This Michaels is located almost next door to the Target in the Moorpark Town Center. It's right before the cross of the 23 and 118 Freeways. There are quite a few stores and restaurants located in this shopping center that one could maybe spend several hours here! (Not that I speak from experience, cough cough). REVIEW: This location is a pretty good basic Michaels, from the others I have seen around the County. My purpose for entering today was to see if they had any Halloween or Fall items out yet (sorry, not sorry!). They did not, sadly, so I was able to look around to see what would catch my eye. :) I love that most Michaels are large and spacious and this one was no different. Wide aisles, stocked shelves with summer-ish items, the niche items you find at Michaels wherever you go. The service was friendly when I got to the Cashwrap, and (as usual) I left with purchasing some planner stickers and washi tape. Couldn't leave without a few more items (dang it) right at the check-out line, too. :) It's a pretty regular Michaels and I will be back. Especially when we get closer to Fall. Yay Fall! read more

I NEVER thought I'd give Michaels in Moorpark, CA a 4-star review. EVER. Their shopping cart situation is unbelievably obnoxious and while I'm sorry if someone is stealing their carts, you CANNOT run a store that doesn't allow people to roll their cart full of large items into the parking lot so they can load their car! I've stayed away from Michaels JUST for that, but found myself there today to get some picture frames I couldn't find in Simi Valley where I live (the next town over). So. I found the frames. Fine. And then it happened! No one told me that this Michaels SELLS FABRIC NOW! At affordable prices! I was so excited! Now, when buying fabric, someone will need to cut it for you. A note near the fabric bolts directed me to the custom framing counter. A young woman named Koko waited on me and I can't say enough about an employee who is responsible for custom framing AND cutting fabric on a counter where there's no room AT ALL with a pair of dull scissors. She hung in there, though, chatting with me and asking about my sewing projects, but I'll tell you, Michaels has been selling fabric at this store for months (I asked), so for the sake of us all GET SOME CUTTING TABLES INTO THE STORE AND A PAIR OF ELECTRIC SCISSORS FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES! I need to add that the woman who checked me out was almost impossible to understand and had to scan all my items twice for some reason. I know this sounds like a bad review, and I suppose it is - kinda - but I really want Michaels to know that Koko is wonderful and she deserves a raise. Absolutely horrible! Ludicrous. Couldn't make a return because the bag was open slightly. I never used it ,brand new , all there and in original packaging. Julianna the 12 year old Swiftie doesn't know how to be a manager. She didn't even look at my return , just said no. Madison/ Makenzie (who really cares what her name is ) has such a snobby , condescending ,Patronizing attitude, you work at Michaels , really, drop the attitude! Move on if your sad and don't like your job. Don't take it out on me! Those red vests go on and they turn into beasts , "No returns for you" . They hung up on me several times when I called to talk to someone else. Then magically the phones work the next day when I called to talk to "Manager" Laura . Shes so very "personable" what a lovely personality, no help , no wonder the staff sucks they are learning that its okay to treat customers horribly and to have a crappy attitude from her. They are liars. In talks with Corporate, we will see if anything transpires . In the meantime went to another Michaels did the return with no problem , thanked them for being normal ,kind and reasonable. When making the return that I was denied at Moorpark, I realized the cashier( I use that term loosely )obviously needs training again to work the register because she charged me full price for another item, not even the sale price she said it was. I think it was on purpose and to spite me. So childish. So of course the nice store (off of Zelzah) fixed it and refunded the price difference.Got into a conversation about my issue with them and someone that works there asked "which location" I said Moorpark and they were like "Oh Yeah",we know . Watch for pricing errors. Ready-made frame was $6.99 on shelf label, new AI registers rang it up for $8.99. Very possible employees are behind on doing price changes, but it used to be an employee would help with a price discrepancy and run back to the shelf to check the label - now a days, the customer does that, takes a picture of the label and comes back to the register without any apology. And now a word about the economy: Most likely the AI 'cashier' had the adjusted new price, meaning the inflation rate for this particular product went up by about 33%! read more

It's really where I go to think about my "next project". {I have so many "next projects"} The staff are generally friendly, there is this really sweet girl at the cash register with curly black hair. Other than that I'm either literally searching for an employee, or am completely ignored. Agreeing with other reviewers that this location is usually clean, well-stocked, and offering new items to tempt crafters. The yarn section can be hit or miss for me if I'm looking for something new. Ditto with florals or baskets. Signing up for online notices nets you sales coupons frequently, which is a nice bonus. Their pre-made wreaths and floral designs are often available for deep discounts, especially getting close to the particular holiday they're promoting. Every time that I have stopped in here it has been understaffed. And very often the employees that are available are not friendly and not willing to help. Jenny was not friendly at all. I stopped her to ask if the had the candle wax I needed in stock and she abruptly said no and started walking away. I had to stop her again to ask if she would be able to see if there was any in the back but she said that what was out is what they have and then left. She could have apologized for the inconvenience, but she didn't. If you come here, don't expect to get help from anyone. Also, the lines are almost always long and there are hardly any cashiers, so expect that too. read more

Excellent customer service - no surprise that those employees were either Gen X or Boomers. The man at the photography area helped me fix a matting issue that another company had massively screwed up, the woman with black hair who was my cashier and helped me with my coupon, and the silver, shorter haired woman who asked if I needed help finding anything. I went online to place an order. It was for a birthday surprise. Online, I was guaranteed same day pickup. I was notified the next day that my order was cancelled. Terrible customer service. It ruined the whole birthday surprise. They shouldn't word it online as a guarantee. They should also update their items that they have in stock. I won't be dealing with Michaels again Well, I was stupid and tried ordering online again, forgetting my last experience. They haven't improved their delivery service at all. I was told Thursday, Friday of this week but orders were changed to Friday and following Tuesday. I really have to make a note NEVER to order from them again. This is a nice Michael's location. It is well kept and clean. Some of the aisles get crowded with holiday promotional items, but they always keep it clean and well organized. This store is always well stocked and I can usually find everything that I am looking for here. I love the dollar bin section right by checkout. I always find great little gift items there. The staff is friendly and helpful. Sometimes they do seem a little understaffed and it may take a while to find someone to help you or the wait at the register may take a little longer. They do seem to have more staff during the busier afternoon hours. There is plenty of parking in the adjacent lot but it does get busy on the weekends. They do have good sales and always offer coupons. Make sure to check the ads for the specials. read more

If arts and crafts are your thing, then you have just ventured into a virtual paradise when you trot into Michaels. My daughter likes to drag me here for all her crafting needs, and let me tell you: they have EVERYTHING. I don't even know where to start. If you're doing something artsy, they've got you covered. Parking: Tons of parking. Giant lot. Staff: Generally friendly. Sometimes they hide and do "stocking" rather than helping customers. Bit funny, but who can blame them. Prices: I'm not a huge art guy, but the prices have always struck me as reasonable. I haven't noticed any obscene prices. This is a pretty typical Michael's craft store - big, clean and well stocked. They have all the things you expect and that other Michael's stores having including crafts, kits, toys, silk flowers, wedding favors, framing, papers, ribbons, scrapbooking supplies and baking decorations. Checkout was good here, not as painful as the Ventura store usually is. Location is easy to get to just off the freeway and parking is a breeze. I'll stop here again if I need something on my way home. read more

A great place to find craft and hobby related tools, paints, and glues, among other things. Modeling clay and sculpting tools among tons of other related items. A huge holiday area was fun to browse. Both the wife and myself found several treasures on this visit. She had a project for Christmas gifts and we found everything needed and even got a bit of inspiration from all the things they had in stock. Michaels is a fun store to shop at no matter what time of the year it is. read more

I hope I am not the only customer that has dealt with this manager named Nivia. She Acknowledge the false advertisement that was listed on the shelf, she did not want to honor the listed price. With attitude she responds "there's no way I'm going to give you that plant for $29.99." Never have I experience such nasty service at this micheals store. I have dealt with other managers with no issues. This woman needs to be trained on how to treat and speak to a Michael's customer. It was also very difficult to understand her because her English was not properly spoken. I am waiting for Micheals Customers Service to get back to me regarding this nasty lady that is running this store at our wonderful city of Camarillo. read more

I drive down to pick up a curbside order i placed for sensory bottles for my classroom. When I came home, i saw that 2 of the bottles were damaged. I called and spoke to Rebecca the store manager, and asked if they could mail out the two bottles since I live 25 minutes away. She said I'd have to call the next day and ask Jeremy and there was nothing they could do. I said that it would have been nice to have heard an apology for the inconvenience, she said that she wasn't responsible since she hadn't personally packed it. I told her that being the manger, she was responsible for her team members actions and asked her to reflect on that. Came here specifically because the item showed available online. Wasted 20 minutes looking around store for help. When I finally found someone, she told me they didn't have it. I questioned it since it said yes online, she looked it up and said yes they had it. She motioned to the row of aisle in front of us and said it would be in "this general area" but she didn't know where. I'd already checked there seven times but followed her direction. Which was a waste of time as it still wasn't there. So unhelpful staff, inaccurate website. Store poorly organized and there's a lot of broken merchandise. Two stars out of sympathy. Wanted to use a local store to cut matting for a picture. They didn't get it done when they said they would and when they did it was the wrong size. Took it back, was told that it would be 2 more days. All the staff we dealt with, except the front register lady, would benefit from some customer service training. Michaels is the best craft store in probably the county. I was at Joanns last night looking for little wooden birdhouses for a youth craft project and they were $1.79-$1.99 each! When you're buying for 15-20, that COULD get pricey. While trying to find a price match, I accidentally found myself on the Michaels website and saw they had the exact same birdhouses for 99 cents! On top of that- they had a 40% off every regular priced item.. I got the bird houses for 60 cents! Purchased 6 of them and only paid $3 with their online pick up which was fast & easy. I can always find something fun at Michael's! From their yarn, beads, paint and who knows what other treasures I'll find, to their seasonal items, craft projects and even decorating items, Michael's really is a store that has something for everyone. I'm surprised no one has reviewed this store because they're always crowded when I visit. I love how they have coupons in the Sunday paper each week, and coupons on their receipts, and that stuff is always on sale. I've even used their framing services and they did a fantastic job. Plus, I can find pens here that are unique in both color and thickness. And you know those candies that are hard to find - Willy Wonka, candy necklaces, Sugar Daddy - they always have them on hand. Today I purchased three glass containers online and drove to the store which is in another city to pick them up. I wanted to have a look around the store and boy was that a bad idea. When I arrived, I walked over to the area where the glass containers were and there was a staff member there collecting the items for me. After I let her know they were mine, she just threw them in a bag and handed them to me without wrapping them up to prevent breakage like she was supposed to. I went to stand in line to get them wrapped up and the cashier starts yelling at me to stay 6 feet away because they are still implementing that rule. They way that she said it was very rude but I ignored that. When I finally got up to the counter the cashier could barely contain her anger or rage because it was pretty bad. She didn't seem to have any of that emotion for the customer before me so I'm assuming it's because I am a Black woman. I know there's racial tension in the country right now but if she can't control her emotions she needs to be working somewhere in the back. She was completely rude and obnoxious towards me and I was caught completely off guard. It got so bad that she took me out of my character and I began saying things to her. After the altercation I called to speak to someone about it, all I got was transferred around, put on hold and then hung up on. When I got the quote (from the REALLY nice worker) the WTH factor must have shown on my face because she genuinely started laughing. Feeling a bit sheepish after that I asked her what my other options were because I had this killer concert print I wanted to hang in my living room. She told me I could get it matted (I winced) and then she told me it should be less than $15. HALLELUJAH I wanted to shout! She laughed at me, again, and proceeded to show me all my matting options. She matched the colors perfectly, and now I am in love. My print is AMAZING! Unfortunately, I've noticed the same decline in stock at Michael's as I have in other arts and crafts stores, where they'll refer you to shopping online because they don't carry it in store, which is a bummer. I came in looking for some glass etching supplies, and the employee that I asked was clearly newer but was a good sport about helping me find it and guessed at the right aisle. Thanks, young man! At the check-out, an amazing younger cashier took a return and scanned a coupon with no problem (I see in earlier reviews that seemed to be an issue), but at the other registers two cashiers were referring to each other loudly and condemningly about a return that a customer was trying to make without a receipt - I felt embarrassed on her behalf! This shopping experience held no charm for me - but I was able to at least get the etching cream that I was excited about. I guess I'll have to search other stores to find the rest of my supplies, or do what they recommended and go online. :sigh: read more

I can't speak for the other Michael's stores, but this one in Moorpark is hit or miss. The general layout and organization of the store appears cluttered and it's often difficult to find what you're looking for. Finding a staff member to help you find something isn't always successful either. The last time I was here three weeks ago, the staff member didn't know if they carried material I was looking for and seemed uninterested in asking someone else who did know. They seem to have a huge selection of scrapbooking supplies, silk flowers and a fair amount of framing and painting supplies as well. However with everything else, they're on the light side of things. I frequently need sewing supplies, including fabric remnants and Michael's does not carry fabric. Their leather working selection is extremely sparse and aside from some plastic model kits, there's little reason for me to come back. For those who are more into home decorating, stenciling and scrapbooks, this store will work fine. For the rest of us, we unfortunately have to keep looking... read more
