This store is so awesome! We walked in and there were so many cute items! My daughter saw a Mickey Mouse sweater so we bought one for her and one for me. We bought them just in time because we got the last two. So many people wanted them after seeing them on us. There were so many people that were in the store that day. It was wall to wall people but because of Ash everyone got along and had a great time. Ash was very skilled in her job knowing where items were and the price of them. She was also very patient! Do not recommend this store at all . Alyssa the manager is holding back the chases for Funko collectors and the district manager is doing nothing about it . The district manager has had emails sent to him who he will not reply and are now him and the manager Alyssa are banning Funko collectors from their stores for these collectors noticing that they're missing . Something must be done about the store . read more

This is a nice Hot Topic Store at the Oaks Mall. We stopped by here on Christmas Eve to pick up my online order. It's a medium size store so if they don't have the item you're looking for, just order online and do store pickup. When I went in, I walked straight to the cashier area to tell them I'm picking up my order. The girl helping me was very friendly and provided great customer service. She opened the box in front of me to make sure I got the right product and so give me a bag so I wouldn't have to carry it in the box it came in. read more

UPDATE: I looked at my receipt to find that John charged me for an item that I DID NOT BUY. He is a scumbag that should be fired. Looking at previous reviews, there is a trend to his behaviour. Original review: Employee named "John" was snarky, rude, and practically threw my receipt and credit card back at me and even went as far as insulting me when I suggested that he shouldn't be so abrasive. Why? for asking a simple question: why a Halloween item wasn't included in the Halloween item sale. "John" needs a serious lesson in customer service and a serious shift in attitude or he should consider a new line of work. If you can't be polite and considerate to your customers, customer service is not for you. I will not be returning to this hot topic any time soon. read more

I love going to the Thousand Oaks Mall for visiting one of my favorite places to shop- Hot Topic!- and the customer service has always been impeccable, and employees very kind and helpful! I know some Goths think Hot Topic makes "alternative" clothing too accessible, thereby cheapening it, but I think it helps keep the look alive - and at lower prices. The quality is not what it was, but that's okay. Most people aren't going to be wearing this clothing for years and years. Who would have thought that Tripp and Lip Service would still be around so many years later? And that you could find them at the mall?! This particular location is a bit larger than the average Hot Topic and has really good sales. Or maybe it's just wider vs. long and narrow - but I'm pretty sure it's larger as well. I went after Xmas and they had a larger sale section than the average Hot Topic, with lots of shoes and t-shirts. I stocked up on t-shirts like a Slytherin one that I always wanted for $5. It's a fun store with punk Hello Kitty, CDs, cute "goth" toys, key caps, jewelry, makeup, studded belts, hoodies, patches, buttons, bags, and hair dye. There aren't too many places that can rival HT for its selection of music tee-shirts and they have other really cute tee-shirts too (even cupcake ones). read more

A great place to go to find out what is going on in pop culture especially in music and movies. My wife has a love affair with Domo related merchandise and this is the place to find stuff. They asked me to move out of the way to help another customer with a return while the other register that I was not near, was open and available. I found this to be rude. Okay, I'm gonna start off with the bad stuff and then work my way into the good. I went here a few months ago, looking to buy an Overwatch shirt (which I wasn't sure if they carried but I looked anyway). The store was empty of customers, and there were three employees at the counter who seemed to be engaged in some sort of argument. They didn't really notice me. So I looked around until one of them came up to me asking if I needed help. I was like "yeah I need an Overwatch shirt" and the dude was like "fur sure" so he showed one to me, and I walked up to the counter to buy it. There were still two men up there arguing. I stood there until one of them turned around, and the first thing he said was "what?" I was pretty surprised because usually at Hot Topic all the employees make an effort to seem really chill and incredibly pretentious, just like me. But THIS dude looked like he was about to rip my arms off. I was just like "um, I'm just gonna buy this" and he audibly sighed before ringing me up. The guy behind him then mentions a promotion thing where it's a 'buy one get one 50% off'. So I was like "ok dope" so I picked out a bath bomb next to the counter because I really didn't wanna spend any more time in there looking around. Keep in mind that I'm still the only customer, and these employees are glaring daggers into my skull. I felt like I'd walked into a third grade classroom and all the kids turn to stare at the door for about 30 seconds straight looking to see if you're anyone interesting but they just get disappointed because it's only you. Anyway, we're almost done with my transaction when I mention that I have a rewards card. This dude literally rolled his eyes and asked for my card so he could scan it. Basically by the end of the entire thing I had to actually control myself so I wouldn't punch the guy in the face and run out screaming. It was a very uncomfortable experience. So you're probably wondering why I gave four stars. That's because there's this one guy that works there (or used to anyway) that has a map from game of thrones tattooed on his back. I love coming to this store! So many amazing things and nostalgic items to buy. I love having the Hot Cash, too. It always makes me want to come back and check out their new items! The only thing I would say is negative is the hovering of the staff. While I appreciate the customer service, I always have the same people telling me the same information they had as they had when I first walked in. I don't mind being told Once. Buy one, get one 50% off. Cool. You do not need to repeat yourself 10 times. Just let me be! It happened to me the other day and it made me leave the store before I could purchase anything, because I just get trapped and like I could not shop in peace. I used to shop at this store all the time and the one time I shopped at TOPANGA and had a phenomenal experience I rarely went back to this store and today reminded me why....I rarely If ever return things and since I had purchased thins as a gift and decided on a few other items I figured why keep some? So I was nice enough to tape the reciepts to the items thinking it would be easier for the sales associate....Spencer, assistant manager, tell Byron to not wear your tag at work when he is accusing a customer or using coupons and returning items. I went into Hot Topic today to look at their Stranger Things merch. When I got to the section, there was a lady there sorting out all the shirts and pop figures. I started to look at all the shirts, just as a normal shopper would do. The lady seemed to be in a temperamental mood from the second I got the section. All the sudden she looks at me with such annoyance and says "your tearing up the table!" and starts reaching over me to fix 1 shirt that I didn't "fold properly". I came in planning to spend a lot of money on the merchandise, but left angry. It really put a damper on my day. read more

When I purchase online I choose the ship to store shipping. I've been to the Burbank location but prefer Thousand Oaks. I've been in here 3 times & the service has been great! The sales associates seem to enjoy their job & each other. They smile & are always eager to help you. I can't say the same for the Burbank location. Love the store, but it's super expensive. Guessing that it is one of the only few stores which is pure fandom/band merch and doesn't really have any competition I guess it can do that. It has really good music that I love and all the workers I have met there weren't rude. I would definitely go there for a treat yourself shopping day but for weekly shopping maybe not. read more
