I had my 9 year old daughter's birthday day here and it was fabulous! The staff couldn't have been more supportive and understanding with a bunch of 12 year old girls. They set up a long table and accommodated add ons. There was a table you could use for refreshments and cake. The girls had a great time and seamless! My kids loved painting mugs for their dad's Christmas gift and were so proud of their work. Unfortunately, after 2 hours of painting, we were told at checkout that the mugs can't be used for hot liquids, which defeats the purpose of a coffee mug! When we went to pick them up a week later, one mug wasn't fully glazed inside and required an extra trip to Simi to pick it up. After spending $80, I wish we had been told about the limitations of the mug upfront so we could have chosen a different item. read more

I was introduced to As You Wish by my work as a therapy treatment for one of our clients. And I absolutely love it! It is so much fun. First thing to remember, wash your hands in the corner sink. This is a byproduct of COVID for everyone's safety. After you are washed up, pick your ceramic piece and get to painting. There are plenty of different ceramic pieces to choose from such as mugs, figurines, plates, coasters, or large tiles. Then, there are several colors to choose from to make your perfect piece. After you are done, As You Wish will fire up your piece and call you when it is ready. It takes about a week. You pay a painting fee plus the price of the ceramic piece you have chosen to paint. The staff have always been friendly and professional. They are very helpful and answer all of your questions. As You Wish is located at the mall, so there is plenty of parking. They are open later on the weekend. You can call and reserve a time to paint. We have already been twice and I can't wait to go back. read more

Everything is clean and the staff are very friendly. Manager is always helpful. The pottery pieces are always in good shape with no issues.

We have had some issues before but are now more disappointed than ever. We knew that it takes a few days for them to fire the pieces and made sure that they would be able to do so. They still somehow were not able to do they finally gave us back our pieces like 4 weeks later. I had to move and had to leave mine with my family until they came out to my place. They did not call or tell us that their kiln was broken or anything, my mom had to keep checking in. Also, they have been out of the water before when we have been there as well as the lights going out often. We will not be returning. read more

I have been coming here since it was paint a dream and for the most part it has been a good experience. We came in today with my son and my nephew and it was 8:05 ( they close at 9). The girl working said we couldn't paint because they stop letting anyone paint an hour before. We let her know we would be quick and assured her we would be out before they close and only needed 20-30 min which means we would be done around 8:25-8:35 which is way before they close. She shut us down and said no. There was another family with 4 kids that also wanted to paint outside the door as we walked in. They were also pretty bummed. With so many businesses hurting and going out of business you would think they would welcome business. How can you say you close at 9 but not let anyone paint an hour before closing? Really disappointed in the customer service of this place read more

This place is such a cute little shop that has so many cute options to pick from. I think it's reasonably priced especially because there is no time limit and you can use as many colors as you want. My daughter and I walked in here after I messed up and forgot that we were on spring break for our dance studio ( oops). I didn't even know about this place, but we had a fun couple of hours and turn around was very quick. The young lady helping out was very sweet, and helped me clean up water when my daughter spilled it. We were explained everything very well, which colors worked best, how to make stuff darker/lighter/ 3D. Will definitely be coming back in the future. read more

So called manager and Karen in-training Sara Ann is a rude, classless and abrasive person who possesses almost comical lack of awareness. We prepaid and reserved a time to come in and do handprints of our children's hands which were going to end up as ornaments.  However, upon entry Sara Ann was already hastily flipping through a book and was immediately on the offensive and rude with my wife and told her that she didn't have a reservation for 12 noon, when we arrived. We were told that there was no way to reserve a spot online. When my wife tried to explain that we paid ahead and she was told that there was no refund since they didn't take money ahead of time from anyone. In her shortsighted haste, she didn't want to listen to any explanation and told my wife to leave "my studio" as my wife tried to explain.  When my wife tried to show her the charges using her phone and when she held up the phone to unlock it using her face ID, Sara Ann told her "not take a picture of me" and to leave the store.  Sara Ann was very aggressive all without really listening to a word a paying customer is saying. So much that she made our daughter cry, which she followed up by letting my wife know that she's called security on her and that she has to "leave now" (security never came).   I went back in there a few minutes later well aware I was stepping into the twilight zone. I kept my cool even after she stated that she checked her records and didn't see us there. Mind you, the "records" are a stack of papers on top of boxes, on the floor, next to a baker's rack of other people's painted things.  "I don't have anything here for you unless your name is Danielle" (not going to mention a last name) was her exact comment to me. Pretty sure she could have left another customer's full name out of the equation.   She claimed to be on the phone with her manager and kept saying things like "right?", "I know!" and "makes no sense". In the end it was an indication that whoever she was on the phone with had the same skewed attitude she did. I still kept my cool and when I actually got this dolt to use the computer, she found our transaction money and refunded it.  This place used to be called 'Paint A Dream' now it's called 'As you wish'.  They can call themselves whatever they want, but it's still an overpriced niche stablishment led by incompetent and ignorant people.  Sara Ann and her inadequacy was mentioned by name in a negative review over a year ago but she's still here for some reason, so maybe it is her "studio" afterall?? Do yourself a favor and save the inevitable aggravation and money by going to a local hobby store and doing it yourself with no baking or having to rummage through "records" required. Sara Ann is a repugnant, thick-headed and dimwitted individual to say the least. She's way out of her element in having to deal with people. I just wish I knew which art school she dropped out of before ending up here. "My studio" foh! read more

Incredible staff. My son and I attended (attempted to) one of their classes for homeschoolers and my son struggles with anxiety- we decided to go for it anyways and give it a try. My son ended up wanting to leave and they were gracious enough to pack EVERYTHING we needed up in a bag for us to finish at home; paints, instructions, and the mug- they even offered paint brushes! Couldn't have asked for a better first time experience. They made my son feel validated and even shared some of their own anxieties and insecurities which made him feel less alone. Sara was a wonderful party host at As You Wish! She made my daughter's 9th birthday so fun and special for her and her besties. We first heard about this place during the beginning of the pandemic as we had them host our Girl Scouts troop meeting via Zoom. This is the old Paint A Dream location under new ownership. Still has the same premise: paint pottery and have it fired to make a beautiful one of a kind item. Prices are comparable to other paint your own pottery places. $7.50 to paint plus the price of the pottery. Pottery items range from small $4 items on up to large platters and bowls in the $36 + range. Time is unlimited to paint so if you need to take your time, do so! Employees are helpful and friendly. It will take a few days to fire the item and then you go back to pick up. We love to come here for a relaxing, creative time. read more

I was incredibly disappointed with this place. I took my niece here. The painting of the pottery was fine but they were a week late in firing the pottery. Then, when they finally called me to pick it up, they lost the pieces. I would understand if I was late in picking up the pieces but it wasn't even a week after calling me that I went in to get them. I waited a whole hour just to find out they were no where to be found. My niece had been asking about the pottery and now I have nothing to give her after she worked so hard to paint her jewelry box. I usually never leave bad reviews but this one really made me upset. read more

We had a reservation today at 11am (store was supposed to open at 10 am) we showed up at 10:50 am and the doors were locked with no one inside. I called multiple times with no answer and still no call back from them. We waited outside the store until 11:30 am and no one ever showed up. All figurines were a little too cartoony if that makes sense. The selection of bowls and dishes was good though. It's pricey but I think it's worth it. Forgot how much fun and relaxing painting pottery can be! We used to come here all the time when my son was little but then stopped coming when he thought he was "too old"! We live in The Valley, very close to another pottery painting store, but loved this store when it was Paint A Dream because everyone was so nice and friendly. Our visit yesterday did not disappoint! Set up is pretty much the same as Paint A Dream. Lots of great pieces to choose from, self serve paint (which is so awesome!), lots of colors of puffy paint and writers, specialty glazes/paints. The employees are super friendly and happy to share tips and different painting techniques. They have classes, no sitting fee days and other good deals - check out their website for details. Wow! Wow! Wow! Decided to give this place a try. I usually go to color mine. It was my daughter birthday so we went. Upon entering so called manager by the name of Sara Ann Moreno was incredibly rude! Zero customer service skills. Told her it was my first time there, she gave little to no instructions of how the place operates. She got mad at my three year old for Pitt trash in the wrong him. Her deamnor was messed up from the start. Told me I was being rude because I brought it to her attention that she isn't being helpful and standing at the register , when I mentioned it's my first time. Had to continually ask her about price questions etc, which she was getting defensive about. She asked us to leave because i called her out on her unecessary attitude. I feel she was being racist! She was rude from the start: my kids left crying in the car. She ruined my daughters birthday and as we left she told my daughter that it's ur moms fault ur birthday is ruined!!!' Who the eff are u to talk to my daughter! Ur a racist and u wanted us out the second we stepped foot inside. I have painted at this locations a couple of times prior to the lockdown. My niece loves to go when she visits. They are OPEN! Friendly, helpful, fun, affordable. We are having a painting party tomorrow at the house, they packaged everything up so nicely, everything you need. Also, I had not order med very far in advance and they were very accommodating at getting the order together so I could pick it up today. I can't say enough. This was my first time at "As You Wish Pottery Paint" in Simi Valley location. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The staff was so helpful, kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. The store had a nice selection of items to paint. It was so clean, well organized, and friendly. The hours flew by as we enjoyed our time painting. I like the fact that reservations were accepted. Delaney, one of the employees, was fantastic. She was kind, so helpful, mature, and represented the store in such an amazing way. We are looking forward to picking up our pottery. In fact she made the experience there - made my very first time they're extremely worthwhile and worth it! I've had a stroke and it is very difficult for me to paint as I have some tremors - however with Delaney helping me out I felt like I could do anything I wanted to! Not to mention, that she never made me feel like an invalid or anything like that - she was just extremely helpful and friendly, personable, warm, kind and considerate.
