I called in a few times to make/change our reservation and each staff member that answered the phone was super kind and willing to accommodate. We were warmly welcomed when we came in and got a detailed run through of how painting at Color Me Mine works. We underestimated how long our projects would take, but the staff informed us that we could take our items home and come back at a later time to finish the painting, at no extra charge. The pickup process was just as smooth as CMM called about a week later and let me know exactly when my items had to be picked up by. I do think it can get a little pricey, especially if you plan to bring a larger party. Hours :11am - 8:00pm Showed up at 7:30 with a 4 year old who just wanted to paint something for 10 minutes, but was refused service . I'm a successful business owner that knows the value of new customers especially young customers. You would think a place catered to children that Is open till 8pm Would value the parent who may be getting off work late and is trying to spend time with their child at color me mine. It could have been for 10 mins /15 mins. Money is no problem in my life and would rather spend a couple hundred dollars at this establishment even if it's for 15 mins and then I come back another day to finish. I love coming to this Color Me Mine location. Out of all the locations I have been to, Porter Ranch has made me feel the most at home. (And I live less than 10 min from another location but will always choose Porter Ranch) Staff has always been so friendly and accommodating every visit. Shout out to Jillian and Aldo for being so kind and making me feel as though I am not just a customer but a friend too. Porter Ranch location is tucked away in this little plaza so parking is a breeze and it's away from the hustle and bustle of LA traffic and what not. It had been about 10 years since I'd been to Color Me Mine so I was pretty excited to go back as it was something I very much enjoyed in the past. I was looking for something specific which they unfortunately did not have so I opted for the a star-shaped box which cost $22. There was a variety of pieces to paint with a nice range of prices. They charged a $9 studio fee which is totally reasonable as they have tons of paint colors and supplies to make sure you have more than you could possibly need. The staff were extremely knowledgeable, professional and available to address any questions we had. When you're done painting you leave the piece there to go into the kiln for that glossy finish. We were told they'd call us in 7 days to pick up our pieces but it was more like 3 or 4 which was nice. I was happy with everything from start to finish and I'm even happier with how our pieces turned out. I will be back here for sure. read more

BE WARY of a bait and switch. When I first walked into the store, I needed paintings as gifts in 6 days by Friday and the manager said that would be no problem. After finishing painting, the store told me I needed to pay for the extra cost for fast service (in order to get my paintings back by Friday). The manager said that he mentioned the extra charge to me before. I didn't hear of any extra charge from the manager earlier and if I knew about it then I wouldn't have purchased anything. I explained to the employees that I felt the manager lied to me and yet they did not offer any alternatives. I'm not going there anymore. read more

We took my kids here as a last minute activity. They had an absolute blast fro picking out their item to painting them, to handing them to the employees to have things cured. We walked out of the location with huge grins talking about where we were going to display their 'masterpieces.' However, when we went to pick things up, it took up to 20 minutes. Not because they were busy, but because no matter what they did, they couldn't find my kids' items. They were starting to get nervous as 2 employees kept coming out to confirm the names on the order and what days we came in and all of that. I don't know what was going on, but I gave them the name we put them in, my wife's maiden name, my name, and even my kids' names to see if they were under any of those. They kept saying no to everything. Then, finally, after I once again spelt my wife's name and showed them the original receipt of the items that they were able to find them. It was ridiculous. I don't know what was going on. I don't know if something was misspelt, misplaced, or what. But I've never spent more than 5 minutes at any other location waiting to pick up my final item. Hopefully this was a one time fluke because my kids are already asking when they can go back. I don't want to deal with all that again. read more

It's fun, relaxing, therapeutic but can get little bit expensive (if you have 3 nieces) pleasure. I love painting and I guess I gave that trait to my little ones. We love coming to Color Me Mine in special days, like birthdays, graduations, or when they are staying with me and we're on their best behavior. We came to this location for the first time. It's nice and friendly, with lots of cute ceramic figurines to choose from. So we chose a cup, cupcake, ice cream cone and yes I chose a heart shaped box and come up with my design I wish they had glittery paint too though. And finally, today we got our pieces back, all dolled up and shiny. Can't actually wait to go back again and come up with something new. I wish there was a sign that clarifies "We close 1 hour before stated closing business hours". We came with our 6 y.o. to paint for his birthday at 7:01pm on a Th (business hours 11am to 8pm), and we were not allowed in because they close at 8pm and they have "a lot to clean." We didn't set an appointment, however, the employee allowed us to do a walk-in and helped us set up. What I loved is that the employees make you feel welcome and thoroughly explain to you where to get the paint/brushes and how many coats of paint is recommended. We dropped our children off for a birthday party this past Saturday. The children picked out an art piece and design it thru colorful paintings and make it their own masterpiece. My 9 yrs old son picked out a skull and my 8yrs picked out a unicorn. But what she really wanted was a Cross. My daughter walked out to the front lobby and tried to look for the Cross and was quickly sent back to her party room. My children experienced extreme rudeness treatment by the staff there. My son was was in the hallway and a staff walked by and pushed him and say " move out the way". The four children finished painting and were super cold, they wondered outside to get warm, and the same lady said to them , "you either stay out here for the whole entire time or go back to the party room". They said the lady was so mean and rude to them. I explained to them that they shouldn't wondered outside without their parents and should of stayed in the party room. I was surprised that staying outside without their parents was even an option. Last incident, with the same lady, she tried to pass a parent and she pushed him and the son out of her way but this time she did say sorry. My children said, "we are never going back to that place". I'm sad to hear they experienced bad treatment at this establishment. I vowed the last time I was here in 2015 that I would never come back. My friend took her two daughters here on Mother's Day so all women there got a red rose (awww!) and free sitting fee. What was meant to be a 2 hour duration lasted nearly 5 because one of the kids wanted to make her mug extra special so I kept adding coat after coat after coat... I said I'd never go again after that lol. Was sick of mugs so I opted for something small and functional. I settled on a small cupcake thing to hold my q-tips Fast forward to this year when someone I love dearly wants to go. So what the hell. It's 4 people so they have a promo beginning November 1 for $5 sitting fee each person, which negates need for the 50% off yelp like on Facebook. We came in 5:30ish on Thursday and they closed at 8pm, which gave us plenty of time. 1 week for pick up and they notify via phone call, you have 1 month to pick it up. Not sure what happens if you don't in that 1 month window but we surmise it may end up on a Walmart store shelf for sale No alcohol allowed (meh, fine. This ain't paint night). If I didn't know kids who wanna do this I probably wouldn't ever go, but everyone should try it at least once in their life. You may be pleasantly surprised. read more

Ehhhhh I wasn't impressed with this place at all. I feel they are overpriced and the way they handled my stuff after it was done sucked. I will provide a picture also. Anyhow I found this place through Amazon Local Deals, it was $30 for $15 so I took my son here, we walked in and I was pleasantly surprised, everything looked so nice and just fun. The girls helped us and told us we can choose whatever we want and showed us to the color paints. I feel they just rushed us and didn't really give us a chance to understand everything it was just a quick okay sit here pick your item and pick your paints there were several brushes and also sponges, I didn't know what sponge or brush to use for certain things. In addition, how some colors don't show up on what, etc. Well first off they are expensive it's $6.00 for children and $10.00 for adults ant that doesn't include the price of the item. The price of the item ranges from $6.00 I think and up. We ended up going with a $16.00 item, my son enjoyed painting and making a mess and I appreciate that they let him enjoy and didn't stop it from coloring the table but there was paper to protect it. My biggest tiff is just prices I feel that the cost to paint is pretty steep it should be a flat $5.00 fee plus the item you choose, $10.00 for an adult is too expensive. So what sucked is that for my amazon deal my item was $16.00 plus the $6.00 fee for my son well I still had $8.00 credit left they told me that I wouldn't get the money back I can either choose something else and pay the difference, well I didn't really want to paint again because my son was over it and I didn't want to have to choose antoher expensive item the cheapest I saw was a $10.00 vase so I just ended up passing. I saw that they had a RUSH order for $5.00 more so I ended up adding that to my order which still left me with a credit which ended up getting forfeited which sucked. All in all this seems like a fun place but overpriced. Also, the handling of my item this is a gift for my Dad from my son they wrapped the plate in paper however they put it in a bag which was all crumpled and ripped. Really?? Come on people. I've always wanted to try Colour Me Mine since I first saw a location a few years ago. I had heard they can be pricy, but a while ago Groupon had a deal which I decided to purchase. Even with the Groupon I still spent approximately $45 in store - so it's a treat, something I would do once and a while with my girlfriends and not so often. Staff was very friendly. We walked in (on a very busy day!) and were able to snag the last table. The workers were very nice and explained the paint to us (layer it for best results, water erases your mistakes..). Kris and I had tons of fun painting! One thing that surprised me was the amount of time it takes to get your piece after you submit it. I thought it would be a next day thing, turns out the turnaround time is about 7 days! That's one thing to keep in mind. The winter holidays are just around the corner and Color Me Mine just might be a breath of fresh air in the gift giving season. It is important to note they do get very busy leading up to Christmas so plan accordingly as it does take a week or so to get your finished items back from their kiln. I have been bringing my daughter, now 9, here for years to make special keepsakes for various family members. While it may seem expensive, the final product is something colored\painted by hand giving it a one of a kind uniqueness. They used to have studio fees that differed for kids and adults, I think it is just a flat fee. Previously they didn't used to charge a parent assisting a child on a project but that has changed. You pay a per person studio fee for as long as you are there and then choose the item(s) you wish to paint. The cost for the items varies significantly but even the small pieces are around $12 to $15. We paid $85 for both studio fees, 1 small ornament, 1 medium sized plate and 1 smallish Snoopy container. Again averaging the cost of each piece and it does get pricey. So enough about that, it is fun for me as a parent to treasure this type of one on one creative time with my daughter. She actually gets excited to pick out a piece to create and make her own. The end result which you pick up in a week or so is a sort of surprise before giving away the surprise. How the colors came out, etc. I do know that the person receiving the gift feels very special in that it was personalized just for them. Today was my 2nd time, and I forgot how FUN, creative, and therapeutic it truly is.. fantastic idea for a fun colorful date night, special party celebration, bridal shower, charity function, bachelorette party, corporate event, or family bonding day too! Time just flies when you're having fun, rrrrright? Jasmine & the girls were very sweet & helpful with the paints and ceramic rules. Jasmine, Lydia, Laura are very friendly, so definitely tip them for their services. My friends have thrown or attended birthday parties for their little infantiles/kids and will drop $800-1,000 for a private birthday event at a Color Me Mine studio. No expense spared for infantiles these days? There are tons of ceramic pieces to select from ranging from $16-80/piece. Sitting fees can really add up. TIP: Check their calendar for special promos. I forgot to take pics of the vast ceramic selection, cuz I got so excited to begin painting! I tend to like the plates, since it's a great canvas for artwork, yet functional & practical to use as my kitchenware.. Their paint brushes are lacking, since they aren't tailored for uber definition and dimensions, but I worked with what tools I had, go figure? If you're a perfectionist like me, I strongly suggest you bring your own fine quality brushes, since their brush quality isn't for fine detailing.. I gotta go to Art Supply Store to pick up more brushes - add on my to do list.. Can't wait to get my finished piece fired up in the kiln (they feel very chalky & powdery after 3+ layers of paint) - hope my ceramic comes out glossy & shiny? Nat and I had a great mom and daughter day and ended it with going to Color Me Mine. I have not been in ages, and it was nice to see it so full and booming! Call ahead to have them save you a table so you don't have to wait. It was a Saturday and it was packed. We painted a mug and canister and it was a fun, quick way to beat the heat and be a lil' creative. Not as many options of pottery that they use to have, but still a lot to do. My only issue is I know everything is pricey, but good lord......for a half hour we spent $77! Each piece was $20-$25 and then add in a $9 each studio fee and it added up fast. Thats the only issue, cause I would love to come more often with the kids, but we will save it for special occasions. Everyone working there was super nice and helpful and great at checking in on you. Haven't picked up my piece yet, but they said about a week to get it, so looking forward to seeing our creations. She was very warm, welcoming us in, and giving us the lowdown of Color Me Mine is all about. If you've never been, it isn't cheap, but it is a lot of fun, and very relaxing. 1. You pick your item(s) that you want to decorate. 2. Grab a table. 3. Employee will wipe down your chosen art piece with water 4. Listen to the instructions 5. Grab your paints, and paintbrush 6. Decorate! The products to decorate average about $20, and there is a $10 fee per person. So, it'll cost about $35/person. What I like about this location is that it is help-yourself, and that Lydia was super friendly and helpful. I've been to other locations, and the employees act like you're bothering them. I would have given this place ZERO stars, but you are not allowed to do that. This is a horrible idea & was a terrible experience from start to finish. Oh, why not pay $30 for a piece of sh*t ceramic frame that YOU have to paint yourself? It is the dumbest idea I've ever heard of, but I thought it would be a cute idea for my toddler to make something for his dad for Father's Day. So, we go into this place on Tuesday afternoon & the FIRST thing I ask is, "if we do this today, will it be ready in time for Father's Day?" "Oh yes!" Says the perky sales-girl, "You're in luck because today is the cut-off to get it in time ... You'll be able to pick it up on Thursday or Friday." Cut to when it's time to check out .... No one had said not to paint over the price and PLU# ... No one really said much of anything, except "what color paints do you want?" So, apparently the picture frame we chose was the last one and the lady took about 10 minutes trying to figure out what the code is so that she could ring it up - grrr, did I mention that my toddler was now totally OVER the whole experience, as was I? Then I give her my credit card to pay, and their system is so antiquated, that anytime the phone rings, it interrupts the credit card machine! So, she had to swipe my card 3 times .... I swear, if there are 3 charges for this place on my credit card statement, I'm going to blow a gasket! I ask them if I should call them on Thursday or Friday to see if my piece is ready, "No, no," they say, "We'll call you." So, I don't hear from them & on Friday afternoon, I call and am told that there is no guarantee that it will be ready for Fathers Day. What in the bloody hell? Really? That's odd, since that is the ONLY reason I wasted my time and money at this ridiculous place! I told the woman on the phone that I was told it would be ready either Thursday or Friday. She argued with me, and then finally, after talking to her manager, she said they would do me a favor and make sure it was ready "before noon" on Saturday. Since they open at 11am, and I was out running errands, I stopped by at 11:15. Got into a big fight with Rolo, (the manager,) who I could not believe had the gall to accuse me of making up the exchange between me and the original sales girl about my piece ready on Thursday or Friday. She reminded me that SHE was doing ME a favor by having it ready before a weeks time! Oh really? Wow. I was absolutely appalled that a) she would openly argue with a paying customer; and b) told me to come back at 12. REALLY? Now, I know she was just trying to wield her ColorMeMine Managerial power over me, because there is no way in the world that I will believe that the piece wasn't ready at 11:15, but would be at 45 minutes later. However, I did return at noon, and my piece was inside of a brown paper bag that looked like it had been used to hold someone's lunch - all crumpled and tattered. Nice. Not to mention, when I opened it up to inspect the item, there was dried food or clay, or something on the backside, and on the edges that won't come off. Very classy. I'm sure that she did those two things on purpose to be rude. This place is a sham. No one seems like they know what is going on ... And the manager is downright surly. I cannot even believe the way I was treated by her. What a horrid experience. Trust me, you would be better off going to Michael's & spending half the money to do it yourself at home!
