I haven't been here in several years but recently came in with my family for some fun painting together. They have a good assortment of unpainted items to choose from and have a selection of seasonal prices that rotate in and out. The staff was helpful getting set up and explained good techniques for getting the best results. One thing our group notice was that the numbered colors on the sample color palate plate, didn't line up with the numbered colors on the paint supply counter. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember ! This is, without a doubt, my favorite Color Me Mine location. I remember coming to birthday parties here in elementary school. I even have a bowl I made here that I've been using since I was in high school (I'm in my 20s now!!). I know there are a ton of Color Me Mine locations, but the staff and the weekly/ monthly events they hold, like pj night and Color Me Kids, really make this place feel like a community. I was confused and didn't know what to even say. I said "Oh well I have many nicknames" so I thought maybe she was implying my first name was different in the beginning. She said nothing. Youre sitting in a tight area and there's not too much background noise to make it an intimate date night experience, but it kinda works. The staff here are kind and very helpful. I called first just to ask if it was busy and if they would be able to accommodate me and my daughter if we walked in or if they preferred that I made a reservation. They were busy but had space so we sat right away after arriving. We spent a couple of hours there and the staff were attentive and always recognized when my daughter wanted paint she couldn't reach and instantly helped. There's no limit to how many colors you can use on your project. More pallets and brushes are available by the self-serve paint area along with other items you can use like stamps and painters tape. Making an online reservation was a smooth process. It is located within the mall so close parking can be a bit difficult to find. You can choose to be seated outside or inside, depending on your party size. Our group was warmly greeted when we arrived, and we were told to select what figurines we would like to paint on. Once that was done; an associate came to the table to explain how we select colors, get the paint, borrow tools, and the best way to apply to the figurine. Our group was pretty meticulous ....and also we chose some big figurines...so 2 hours was the minimum amount of time we needed. When applying the color, you wonder if you chose the right paint but I can promise you that once the figurine is processed, it'll turn to the color you expected. Overall, it was fun. The only concern was how close the seating was to other tables and that some of the brushes we get to borrow are pretty old and wonky. But it's an affordable experience, given the tools we get to use and the cute figurines. read more

A great mother-daughter bonding activity! I brought my daughter here when she was in elementary and during her summer break from high school (!), she asked to visit this place. This place never disappoints - we picked out items (plant holders for we have made so many bowls and mugs but I am a softie for personalized items). You pay $10 for studio fee plus the cost of the item you choose to paint. If you did not finish, you can return for no additional studio fee. Make sure you coat it 3 times if you want it to appear darker - check out the shades on the wall as a guide if you paint once, twice or three times. They contacted us less than a week later and our items were ready for pick up. To our delight, our items looked exactly how we both envisioned it - loved this experience! read more

Brought in my two toddlers to paint and there was an employee that was just hovering us the whole time about my daughter dropping a apple on the floor or a colored pencil. Every single thing they did she was just on top of us it was not an enjoyable experience. And it was both our first time here and we did not enjoy it. Not one employee came to our table and asked if we need help with colors. Just pointed at every little thing that my kids did wrong. Just finished up an afternoon of painting here at Paint A Dream and left with smile on my face. Why? Well let me tell ya... The fam and I came in for a little birthday celebrating activity. We called and booked our table and when we got there they saw we were a little tight on the regular table so we were offered up the larger area and table in the back. The girls working there today, Maisy and Courtney were awesome. The clearly make it a priority to make sure everything goes well on your day. They will also give you tips on some painting techniques if you need help. After a while the place was filled up with all the tables in use with small groups. They were able to monitor and assist in the paint selection and and brush area where people have the most questions. They also checked on each table from time to time to see if things were ok. Fun, easy going music was playing in the background while we took our time painting our hand selected ceramic items. The selection is decent - ranging from mugs, platters, animal coin banks, vases, photo frames, keepsake boxes and various wares to name a few. Several tools are available from different sized brushes, sponges, stamps, and these really cool pin point squeeze pint bottles. Really came in handy for detail work. A sink is there too major clean ups. A restroom is also available so no worries there. It's a great place for people of all ages to enjoy a day of paint and conversation with a pal or someone special. Kids are welcome too and birthdays would be fun here. We hadn't been here in some time so I brought the kids on a late summer morning to do some painting. The staff were friendly and helpful in getting us going, and they were there to assist if we needed anything. But for the most part we just went at it, and we had a good time. It's not necessarily cheap fun. Our total for three pieces (none of which was very large) was $96.36, which helps explain why we hadn't visited in a while. Then again, you're also here to make some memories, and that has value too. The painting took us around an hour, which is about the limit for my youngest. I picked up the finished pieces one week later and they looked exactly as good as they should have, based on how well we painted them. One final comment -- I completely understand why most of their pottery is shaped like, say, a dragon or a unicorn. That being said, I do wish they had at least a few more offerings that look like basic vases you might have around your house. But maybe that's just me. read more

It was a special mom n daughter date. My now 6 year old requested to come back to this place where our last visit was when she was 3! The jewelry holder that we had previously painted together has been such a treasured piece that she wouldn't forget. Three years later, she paints her own hand-picked rainbow holder. Meanwhile I pick and paint a mug that reminds me of our rainbow painting and my role that I love as a mom. This place has a way of making memories indelible, personal, colorful, and curated. We booked a private birthday party for my son (10 kids total with age 4-9). However, since they still took customers on their patio, strangers constantly walked in and out of the studio. The two staffs there were nice but too busy to help other customers and couldn't attend to our kids or check up on us. Not sure if this is the norm since it was my first time doing a birthday party there. But, I was told that two staffs would be available for the party and that was my expectation. The only time one of the staffs talked to the kids was at the beginning of the session to explain how to color since the kids did not have prior experience. No one gave us an instruction on how to sign the pieces so none of the kids even got to sign (I found out about this next day from another friend). It may not be worth booking a private party especially if you have a small group since it does not feel that private. You would have to book both the studio and the patio but may still see strangers picking up their finished ceramic pieces. . read more

I work with adults with special needs out in the community, and our clients enjoy coming here a lot! They always have fun choosing something cute to paint with their giant assortment of paints and brushes, but we as staff love coming here because the employees are always friendly and accommodating. Working with adults with extra needs can be difficult in public because unfortunately a lot of people don't understand them. We can't go a lot of places in town because as a business they will see my client and I as two individuals who need to both be charged for their services, but I'm not there to engage with them. I'm their to engage with my client, helping them when needed, for their fun and teaching them to have as much independence as they're able. So a lot of places we end up paying double because we have to pay for the staff existing in their space when we're really just there for the client. Color Me Mine in Valencia is different though. Usually they charge by the painter and whatever item is being painted, but they understand that even though I might have a brush in my hand, modeling how to hold and use it and engaging with my client, they also see that this experience isn't for me and don't charge us staff. Our morning classes have to be back at the office by noon and they open at 11, but many times if we've called ahead of time or even if they're setting up inside and see us waiting they've let us in early so we can get as much paint time as possible in. This was our first Color Me Mine experience and it was definitely memorable. The staff was super friendly upon arrival and made us feel welcome. We booked a table online, which was super easy, and everything was set up for us when we walked in. They explained everything to my daughters and I...how the fees work etc and we got to pick out our pieces. They have a huge surplus of soo many different things to color it's insane. I personally wish I could've done them all. They walked us through the color choices and paint brush selections and even have fine line paint bottles. They went over techniques and tips and tricks. The time allotted was reasonable and we were able to finish (slightly over) in time. But they weren't pushy AT ALL about our lack of experience and time management. The whole atmosphere was upbeat! It was totally worth the hour drive!!!! We go back in a week to pick up our glazed banks , as they guarantee a one week turnaround and I am super excited to see the final result! read more

OK, let's be honest. There are probably only three things that will get you to come here : 1 - You are a HUGE Jonas Brothers fan and want to see where they filmed part of an episode of "Jonas LA." 2 - Your niece, nephew, or other association to someone under the age of 10 that pretty much means you can't get out of coming here. 3 - You have grown tired of Chuck E Cheese or Scooters Jungle and are looking for something different to do, that hasn't been repeated by every kid in the class, for a birthday celebration. If #1 is your reason than you are on your own. If it's #2, you have my sympathy. If it's #3, you're on the right track as this is a great place for a party. There is a party room in the back which has a "Happy Birthday (Insert Child's Name Here)" across the entrance which they all think is pretty cool. With an assigned hostess, they get the kids their items to paint, help them pick their colors and generally keep them in line. Come to think of it they also help with the cake, help with the gifts being opened and best of all clean up as they send you on your way. As a parent, there really is very little that you need to do. What I liked most about it is they prepare a dinner sized plate with the birthday guests name on the front and then have each of the kids put their thumb print on the back to remember the day. OK, I broke rank and told the girl "if dad's paying for this then he's on this plate too" which the grandparents appreciated so they could be part of this as well. Or maybe it was for them to remember they were at the party should their memories fail but either way, they were giddy about it. Love to come to this place! We've painted together as a family and my hubby and I have gone for a date night. The staff is friendly and creative. They will help you with ideas and techniques. Lots of ceramics to choose from: bowls, spoon rests, banks, dishes, caricatures, mugs, coasters, etc. something for everyone. Plan to spend around $15-$20 for the item and $10 painting time. They have lots of examples of how to paint, paint techniques, tons of paint colors, brushes, sponges, stencils, etc. Plan at least an hour and a half to two hours (you'll probably take awhile just to pick out your item and decide how to paint it - tip: look online for ideas). After you paint your item and pay, you leave your item to get baked in the kiln, then they will text you within the week to come back and pick up your item. This place is great for families, birthday parties, group outings, girlfriend get-together, as a gift or reward for your kids or to paint a gift for someone. The location is right at the mall so you can make a day out of it by eating lunch/dinner or grabbing a treat or coffee before or after painting. If it didn't cost so much I'd be here every month cause it's relaxing and fun. read more

We had an amazing experience here for our 5 year old son's birthday party. My wife and I were looking for something different other than Scooter's Jungle or Chuck E Cheese for our son's party. Since he is really into arts and crafts, we thought this would be a great location for him and we were definitely not disappointed. We visited the shop about a month before the party and put down a small deposit to hold the time and day. Penny was very kind and helpful and really took the time to give us a tour of the party room and explain to us what we could expect. The night before the party my wife dropped off some decorations for the party and the staff actually decorated the room for us. On the day of the party, we were ecstatic to see that Penny was assigned as the host. There was a huge sign hanging over the hall that lead to the private room that said, "Happy Birthday" to our son. Inside the party room were a number of pieces that the guests were able to choose and paint. There was also another Happy Birthday sign inside the room and a beautiful personalized plate that would end up having each of the guests' fingerprints that we could bring home with us. From the moment the party started until the moment party ended, Penny did everything and made sure the kids had a great time. She had the kids choose their pieces, helped them choose their colors, assisted them in painting, helped with the food and drinks, gave them a tour of the store and did all the cleanup. Overall, my wife and I had a stress free experience and our son had such a wonderful time with his friends. We would definitely recommend Color Me Mine for birthday parties. read more

Fun way to spend a day! I came here with my boyfriend and we painted some mugs. It was pretty cheap and they even delivered them since we had to head back to school in Berkeley. The person working there was really friendly and tried really hard not to bother everyone too much which I really appreciated.
