Such a fun place to visit! I came here with my MIL on Saturday morning. We had the place to ourselves which was so relaxing. They have so many ceramic pieces and paints to choose from. All you have to pay is $5 for admission in addition to the price of your ceramics. I spent a total of $35. You have to wait a week for them to glaze and fire your items. So excited to pick mine up! A fun creative day with my Granddaughters in the cutest studio with a nice selection for the girls to paint. Plenty of tables and room for everyone. We were not the only ones on a Monday morning, which was nice to see. Firefly is a hidden gem of a place with courteous and patient staff to answer questions and help everyone out. I had an amazing time here at Firefly Ceramics with my granddaughters. We went over to Color Me Mine and they said they "didn't have space for us" after already calling and making a reservation a week in advance. Firefly did not disappoint, my granddaughters had a blast and we are so excited to get our pottery back. They have a large variety of fun stuff to choose from. This is by far the most amazing awesome place for budding creative expression, in children and in adults! We took our kiddos here last weekend and just picked up our work today, and I'm blown away by how perfect they look! This was our first time here, and we're already planning when and what and how our next piece will be! The pre-done ceramics, at least for this first timer, can be misleading in the effort and artistic 'work' needed, as it all looked naively too easy. With the racks of color glazes and containers of paint brushes in a multitude of sizes, sponges, stencils, who knew what to expect until that first brush stroke. And what fun it was, and what excitement it was to see the beauty we created! Our kiddos, ages 6 and 9, picked out reasonable pieces to start on, grabbed the colors they saw in their innocent imaginations, and off they went. All we did was finish off a very few of the rough edges, like the bottom and making sure we had a good 3 coats overall. Everyone of the staff was inspiring and more than helpful. The studio is well laid out with lots of space for the most creative hearts. So inspiring and awesome were the staff and place that our 6 year old wants to work there! She even started to help straighten up things and kept asking what work she could do when she was done with her piece! Even with the technologies and scientific gadgets and tools we all live with today, I have renewed hope in the heart and soul that Firefly inspires in children and the child in us! read more

Where do I even begin?! My 3 children and I had our first visit and just fell in love with everything about Firefly Ceramics. We've seen the businesses name sign for years and I always thought my kids were too young and I am not very creative, artists or talented in that area to even check it out. I am sad I waited so long. There was plenty of parking, the place was clean and quiet (everyone was busily creating), the staff was super duper friendly and helpful, the owner was a kind and welcoming host. She checked in on us while we were doing our thing and we kept her busy while we asked 100 questions. We haven't even picked up our finished pieces and the kids are literally counting down the days until we have to stop back by. The space is open with lots of natural lighting...there was an outside patio area set up that I honestly thought was maybe the neighboring space. It was so cute, cozy and kinda romantic looking....like it belonged in a magazine...tall wood tables with hanging patio lights. We were already done or we would have set up there on such a beautiful Ventura day. There is a great separate room with a door for things like parties that was way cute also. They have tons of paint colors, tools and brushes to choose from and loads and loads of items to paint. We say a spinners wheel in a small room too for those who wanna get really into it. I can not wait to have our 2nd visit and maybe pick a bigger piece that I can work with. I might be more artistic that I previously thought haha... This is a MUST VISIT place. If you haven't been... go! If you are bored and looking for something different, go! If you have no kids or 8 kids, go! Bring a friend or 2 if you don't want to go alone. Just get there! FireFly Ceramics is better therapy for me than all the the therapists I've ever seen put together. Therapists are generally a huge waste of money; FireFly Ceramics never is. Laurie, the owner, is as cool as a cucumber and generally unflappable. I've been in there a lot with my wild five-year-old son and his friends and even after they create a shitshow of epic proportions in the shop, no one complains. If I were the staff there, I'd be putting the little Visigoths into the 2000 degree kiln as quickly as possible, with glee in my eyes as they were turned into inert ash. But the staff is way more patient than I am, so you gotta give them that. And generally, all the lovely ladies who work there are sweet, cute, and competent at their job. I'm sorry but I'm most likely never going back to Color Me Mine again after I found out about this gem. My sister had asked our mom, my daughter and myself if we wanted to come here and paint ceramics, to have a little girl date or something. The options they have in the shop are super cute but what I really love is all of the accessories and add ons they have. They have a wide variety of stamps, stencils and different kind of glazes for your ceramic. The pricing on the pieces are great and the designs they have to offer are awesome. I love this place! It's a break from whatever stressful life you lead! I've painted several items, some of which have techniques I never thought I could do, but the staff teaches you how patiently and kindly. The staff is amazing. They are always there ready to help if you need it! If there is something you see that you want to learn to do, they'll show you how to do it. The prices are pretty great! There is a studio fee of $7 and the items start at $7. Color Me Mine has a studio fee of $10 and the items start at around $12. It takes a week from beginning to end to get your piece. They take a week to fire the pieces, but it's so worth it! I've always had everything I painted ready on time. They have lots of great paints to paint with and a fantastic selection of things to paint! read more

Not only is this place pricey, but if your going to write down a date to come pick up your purchase......Have it ready on that date! Went to pick up our families art work the day they said it would be ready and the lady told us that it needed another hour. After 3 hours we went back and it still wasn't ready. At this point we asked for a refund and the girls attitude changed from being somewhat sympathetic to a completely rude snob. I cant believe the way this place functions. Went here today, because my daughter received a free paint session from her school. I called to ask if I could still redeem the session, because the date was expired, even though she received it after said date. The girl on the phone said yes and she would communicate this to the other workers. Showed up, no one was aware of the convo regarding the free session. I then had to ask what we do, they did not offer help. All 3 workers then sat in the main room, about 3 feet from us, and ate their lunch, conversing about who they are dating, etc. This was highly unprofessional, particularly given my 6-year-old was less than 3 feet away! Not one time did any of the 3 employees check on us, and we were there for 2 hours! There was also a dirty table of used brushes and used papers that was sitting as so since we arrived. The 3 workers left and a new worker came in, and again, no communication regarding the session redemption, so I had to explain myself 3 times. Aside from picking up our pieces, never going back, due to the absolute horrific service. read more
