Experience-wise, this is was fun and not as messy as I thought it would be. The tunes were good, the service was decent. Had to ask for help a few times and didn't feel like things were explained well. Prices are pretty high especially with an additional $12 per painter fee. We booked a "mini party" for my daughter's 13th bday( and 8 of her friends) which turned out to be a fun and memorable event for them all. The hostess was very helpful and attentive to our group/party. They have a separate space for these kinds of events, with tables, chairs, painting supplies, paint and enough elbow room for the them to paint while interacting with each other's. When you book a mini party each person gets $16 of credit towards a ceramic piece/object to paint. There are lots of ceramics to chose from but not necessarily in that price range. Some of the more special/fancy pieces were well over $16. If I had a grip it would be that they didn't have enough variety in the $16 or less price range. Very fun place to go with friends, family, or a significant other. It is therapeutic to sit down and take the time to paint something. The only thing is that it can get quite expensive fast. The ceramic items have a price on the bottom of them, and there is also a $10 paint fee for each individual painter. My friend and I left and collectively spent around $80. Last Sunday I stopped by the Color Me Mine in the Oxnard Collection with my three year old daughter and we had an amazing experience. My daughter loves to paint so she was very excited! This was our first time and the very nice gentleman that was working that evening gave great customer service and he was extremely helpful. He was very polite and showed us around the store and explained the whole process to us. He also made us feel very welcome and got us excited to choose our ceramics and paint them. The store has tons of options to choose from and you are able to relax and paint your ceramics and enjoy your time. It does take about a week for the ceramics to be available to take home after you paint them. Price wise is more on the expensive side. There is a 10 dollar artist fee and you also pay for the ceramic you choose. However, Monday nights they have specials for kids and Tuesday nights they also have specials. (I would call the store for more information on this) Color me mine is perfect for kids or date night/family night. Very poor customer service. Hours display 11-7 with a coupon on Tuesdays. Called to confirm and the employee stated there closing early because it's slow. Great experience! I took my kids ages 12 & 9 on a Thurs evening and they both loved it. We spent a few hours there and received the best customer service from Hannah! They have a huge selection of ceramics that range in prices starting at $10. We took our time and never felt rushed. Hannah made sure we always had all the colors we needed. I love this place, the young lady that helped us has great customer service and is very helpful. The only reason I wouldn't give it anymore than a 3 star is prices. I believe some items are really over priced. I took my daughter and my 2 nieces & I paid $117 for all 4 of us. Mind you we all painted small objects. My goddaughter loves this place. There is a $10 fee for adults and $8 fee for children under 15 years old plus the cost of whatever pottery you choose. They have tons of things to choose from. They have tables with the color samples. You get to grab your pain if you'd like le they grab it for you. After you paint your chosen pottery you leave it so they can do a coat of the glossy stuff that protects the pottery. You get to pick it up in 7 days. They have all the colors needed. The staff are nice. They let you do your thing and don't bother you unless you ask for help. Yes the prices are a bit high so I wouldn't make this place a regular outing but every once in a while it's worth it. read more

Last week, my godsister arranged an outing to "go out and also be creative," so we met up at this studio on Saturday morning. A private birthday party was just ending in the large separate area in the back, and we started at a table out front just as the studio opened to the public. There are instructions written on a tile on the table, as well as an array of number-coded colour swatches to show what the colours look like after firing. The staff were happy to answer questions and clarify whenever we asked something. I chose to paint a large coffee mug, and had fun selecting a colour palette and then making a pastel-shaded happy-coffee-drinking mug while we chatted and compared colours. The staff were busy, but helpful. They have a very wide selection of items to paint, and a decent selection of colours. Be aware that the colours appear much paler on the item than they will once it is fired! I got a call on Thursday that my mug was ready, and picked it up yesterday. I am thrilled with how it turned out! Just as I pictured it would be. I saw a number of promotions on their web site for discounted studio fees on certain days, so be sure to check your options if you are planning in advance. I am already planning to go back and paint a plate or bowl to add to my breakfast experience. read more

Enjoyed our self and time, slightly pricey. The day we stoped by it was a ten dollar fee, plus price of clay sculpture witch range from 15+ for my daughter and I was 80tottal: I bit pricy i think. But over all we enjoyed ourself and liked what we picked. One suggestion is to stop by wth time. We arrived at 7 pm and 9pm closed. Young female employee was alone and had such an incredibly arrogant, rude attitude and made us feel so incredibly unwelcome that we left. She didn't even tell us the special pricing until I asked for it. She ruined the entire tone of our evening and my family that lives down here will NEVER step foot in that business again. I truly hope she was simply having a bad day because I would never allow an employee to treat customers the way she treated us. As we left she sarcastically said, "Have a great night!" I bought 4 living social vouchers for me and my 3 kids. We went to use them one sunday and the worker stated only 1 could be used. I told her I understood and that I was 1 customer and my 3 kids were each a customer. NOPE, not in their eyes. They will take your money to pay for kids that's for sure but wont count them as a customer when it time for a living social voucher. I was livid! My kids were listening to us argue and began to whine and ask if we had to leave. I asked her to call the manager because that was BS and that's not how living social vouchers work. She called him and he and I spoke and he didn't care. I told him my children were upset and now crying. He said he would allow me to use 2. Oh great so me and my other child could just sit there and watch the other 2 paint. Ridiculous!! My 2 youngest were crying and whining so I let them paint and me and my oldest just sat there. I was so heated that I called into living social while i was still there and even they stated the owner was incorrect and that is not how it works. Living social actually credited me back for the 2 vouchers I wasn't allowed to use and $15 more just for the hassle. They were also going to contact the business manager to inform them of how customers were being treated. Needless to say I give this place a thumbs DOWN!!! read more

My older daughter took my 9 yr old as a Christmas gift and spent $100 on 2 pieces!! The one piece was a pony bank for $58!! The other was a baseball bank for $20. Let me begin with a warning to parents of younger children: Know your child's patience level before trying this activity. Ceramic painting is a process that requires painting of several coats and takes some time to complete. I unfortunately attempted this with a 4 and 5-year old who have the attention span of a goldfish. With pieces costing a minimum of $14 PLUS the materials fee ($6), it was a little more than frustrating to hear the little birds piping "I'm done, I'm done" after about 10 minutes of "coloring." Even though the attempts were very rushed and completed in a bored frustration, the pieces came out looking very neat and I commend the finishers for being able to polish them into something pretty. Absolutely a unique and interesting activity. Just be sure that with your young ones, you KNOW they can sit happily for 30-40 minutes while they construct a little masterpiece. read more

Went in on a Tuesday with 4 other people. My daughter and myself spent about 75$ on 3 pieces. We live in idaho and don't have one of these where we live. My daughter painted a dog and was so excited about it. At Check Out I explained that we had a flight home early Monday morning and was politely asking if possibly we could just pick up the dog by Sunday since we obviously weren't local. She Said, no I can have it ready by Monday. Okkkkk, did you just hear me say we fly out at 7am Monday? I asked again and she said that wasn't possible. So now we have a dog that wasn't able to be finished in the oven and just doesn't look right. I know they have others to do, but just that little extra customer service to get my daughters dog done a day early would have sure been nice. I've been to places like these all my life and I love painting these ceramics but this place is too over priced and the customer service is not good. I went in to paint a vase and I didn't have time to finish so I explained I would be back the next day to finish. The lady said no problem she would keep it overnight for me. I come back the next day and the lady did not put a note so they started to glaze my unfinished piece. Also I am told that it was against their policy to hold pieces overnight! When I asked about getting a new piece or refund they said I had to wait for the manager to call the lady who was working the night before to get her side of the story first. I am highly offended, my father owns a company and the customer is always right. It's mind bottling that a worker would say this to a customer. CEOs and store owners, you need to teach your workers how to confront situations like this better or have a different strategy. read more
