Today I was so happy with the customer service that I gave them a 5/5. I arrived in the parking lot 20 min early because I was on my way home from another errand. I walked up to the front door 3 min early to wait. They let me in a minute early unexpectedly, which was kind. My mission? To order balloons for a friend's husband's 60th birthday which is happening at another friend's house tomorrow. Rebecca helped me at the front, explaining how I choose balloons, pay for them, and then she would fill out an order form for my exact request. Latex balloons are 12 for $12. I decided I wanted the mylar ones because my friend wanted gold and silver balloons and they were shinier. I chose 1 round black one with 60 on it and silver and gold confetti design, then two gold and three silver balloons of different shapes. I'll post pictures of them when I pick them up tomorrow. I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. Rebecca was kind, patient, and helpful. I also purchased the weights to hold the balloon arrangements since the party would be outside. You can choose what color ribbon so I chose matching as opposed to white. I'm thrilled Michael's has balloons now! It's super convenient. You order ahead of time in person or online (not on the phone). Additional notes on pickup day: the balloons were ready for 1p.m. pickup as requested. Very pleased with the result. I've been shopping frequently and regularly at this Michael's since 2017. I've had some good experiences there. After not being able to make a return from one week ago (while I have an account and the card on hand used), no more. Every time I come in, I enter my number and get an email receipt. I purchased a runner a week ago. I was told it was "on sale" therefore I could not use a coupon for a regular priced item. Then come to find that I was charged the wrong price for it-$10 more. One of the so-called managers (dirty blonde straight hair and glasses) told me nothing could be done despite using a phone number, email, the card used and showing the transaction on my bank statement. What I was offered was $34 and no apology. I felt so stupid and left very upset. I called the corporate office with my complaint. Within a couple minutes, my recipe was pulled up. I will be returning the runner at a different location and then will never I will never shop at Michael's ever again. read more

1/5/25 Can I pass up a 70% OFF event/sale?! Hell nah!! I thought I missed out on the sales for after Christmas but here I am!! Hubby was in the market for Sharpie & filler notebook/paper & I went along. My luck!! Whew! 70% OFF Christmas cards, gift wrap stuff, I went nuts! The area for this merchandise was well organized even at the end of the day, near closing time, Staff were helpful & friendly. At the self checkout, I could've done it myself but the kind staff offered to ring me up. I love this location! Plenty of free parking, I saved $55 from the regular priced items. So happy I stopped by. I am happy as a clam. Bought Christmas cards, tissue, gift bags & gift basket fillers. The sale prices are astounding! Micheal's is my favorite place to go. It's also a place I must learn self control with my spending. As an artist I go to Micheal's to buy supplies. The one on Mountain use to be my go to place. Imagine me walking from the Montclair Mall to Micheal's on Mountain inUpland for fabrics. The other day I was in Micheal's La Verne waiting for my ride when another costumer was talking about the stores and Joan's closing. I told her this Micheal's would be my favorite if only they carried fabric. One of the employees walked by and overhead the conversation and said to us "OH we would be carrying fabric starting next month. That was in January. We'll, it's next month February just finishing up a soft-sculpture. Going shopping for her wardrobe fabric. I already have her jewelry. From Micheal's of course. It's a normal Michael's but the person working the self checkout kept watching over my shoulder while I was trying to scan my stuff and kept reminding me to scan everything, like she was insinuating that I was trying to steal things. There were multiple other people checking out at the same time as me and she payed no attention to them at all, just kept reminding me "you have to scan all of it" "you have to still scan this one" I eventually just asked her if she wanted to do it for me and she walked away silently but I could see her staring in the monitor that reminds you you're on camera. If I wanted to steal something I wouldn't bother going through checkout, and if you're worried about people doing a bait and switch at self checkout, just have a regular checkout stand. This is so anti-consumer. Why do you pay someone to stand around at self checkout instead of just check people out? I know it's faster, it's also opening the door to this exact problem. Seriously the worst customer service I've experienced at a Michael's. An older lady with gray hair was at the checkout area.. I waited patiently thinking she was busy but she never even looked up to acknowledge me. A man came to check out and she took her time and was so nice to him. Then I said "I'm just here to pick up an order" and she rudely responds "find your last name and it's there." How you have an in-store item that's only available to pick up at the store for a set price of $20 online but when I go to the store it's $44 after tax.. why even have online prices available to customers if I have to use pick up which requires an additional two hours to get the item ready if Michael is going to advertise it for online for $20. Christine "one of the managers" is incredibly rude! She took her time with everyone before and after me, but she treated me like nuisance. I had an online coupon so I purchased some items online. When I went to pick them up I realized they had more of that item on the shelves. When I asked Christine about extending the offer to me she was having non of it. She would not extend the discount to me because the coupon was an online coupon however they physically had the item but it was not showing in there system. She suggested I just pay the full price but she would not honor the discount. How is it my fault that they have inventory on the shelves that is not in the system??? Came here to pick up a few Easter items and stumbled across a huge Christmas clearance. They have huge mystery boxes for $10, I ended up getting these 23.00 garland for $1.00 each. There just isn't enough workers there, so trying to get help is a little difficult. They do have good stocked shelves, and the store appears to be clean. We do have a few workers at this location that do stand out and are very friendly and helpful. Once you get to the register. I don't even know how many times I visited michaels before Christmas this year! This whole stay at home life-situation has made me becoming more crafty than ever and Michaels has been there to support all my needs! The staff members are very friendly at Michaels! They help you to find things and despite the chaotic holiday rush, they still take the time and have the patient to figure out what you need when you are doing a complicated DIY project. For Covid-19 safety measure, they have a line outside to ensure the store follows the protocols set by the local governments. For pick up, there is a small station outside and a show of your ID, you will get your stuff within a few minutes. Although, I do want to mention that make sure you check your items against the receipt list because I ordered a mini glue and got a regular glue when I picked up my stuff last time... So I end up having to come back in to the store for an exchange. Another perk of doing pick up is that there's a bigger discount online when you order. Overall, this is a great michaels to shop at. This is the worst customer service location. I have been to many Michaels and this is the worse one. Staff has very little interest in helping you and when they talk to you they don't even lOok at you and they have the worse tone with you as if you are bothering them. Horrible customer service. I bought something about 4 hours ago and decided to return it. I came in the store and greeted the employee at the counter. She was already looking down at me. Not sure if it was cus I was in my house clothes or my hair was in a messy bun(who knows). But it was the most awful experience returning an item, mind you I didn't open the box and I had the receipt. Lady that helped me asked why I was returning g it and I said I changed my mind, then she goes on and ask "did you open it?" Clearly the box isn't touch so I said "no I just got it about 4 hours ago" then she gets another employee who was also very rude and says "did she open it?" And I turned around and said "no I didn't " look at the box" then she didn't even acknowledge and went on to say " well does she have the receipt?" I lost it at that point and said "yes I gave her my receipt you can look at it if you want." She just started at me and I said " do you have an issue with my return? This store is located near to our house the inventory at this location is limited I wasn't impressed with stock. This Christmas stuff wasn't very impressive walked out buying nothing. Not sure if it's covid related due to stock shortage but not wowed at all. Other locations may have better variety, the parking lot here is so very dark go during day light hours. I bought a Halloween decoration online. It arrived broken. When I took it back to the store for a refund, they only wanted to return the cost of the item. I told them I paid shipping and taxes. They finally returned my taxes but said I was responsible for shipping. I told them that I paid shipping but the item as broken and that Michaels should pay for the shipping since it arrived broken. They refused, and they refused to refund my visa. They would only give me a store credit. This is not except able. I will never shop online again. Purchased a helium tank on Thursday for a birthday party the following weekend. On Saturday I open the box and there is no ribbon included like stated on the outside of the box. So I immediately put the helium tank back inside the box tape it up and didn't use it. I return to Michael's on Monday with the receipt and box. The manager would not refund me stating I used all the helium and ribbon, so she couldn't sell this in her store. YET THATS HOW IT WAS SOLD TO ME! There's always 4 people who don't know where anything is, and the 1 who does is on break. Twice I've had to look for the thing myself, and found it even when one of them said "we don't carry that anymore". Really? Then how come I just found it? The cashier area is a joke. Customer service is HORRIBLE! The last time I was here there was an older cashier ( blonde) who was loosing her patience with an elderly customer. Then the next customer forgot her credit card so she announced to the line " you're all going to have to wait she forgot her credit card " while shaking her head and embarrassing the customer. She could have handled it very differently. Today I couldn't get service in the store for the coupon and Allie was just as rude ! No customer service skills and obviously not concerned about being told anything by the manager. I came in twice for a vase in one week and prior to that it had been months. Sad that both experiences were bad. My girlfriend was getting something in the store today, we asked for the code to the restroom, which was not posted as being out of order or not in use, and a very rude older female employee looked my girlfriend up and down and looked at me with a very hateful glare and said...."they're out of order...this weekend...yah their out of order this weekend." Clearly she made up a bs lie, and had issues with the fact that we're LGBTQ+ customers and clearly the bathrooms were actively in use but she refused to give us the code.
