Parking was horrendous at this shopping center this Saturday afternoon. This is a pretty good location, but not the biggest or best that I have been to. I have been shopping at crafts stores for years. This is the worst one I have ever shopped. Half of the shelves are empty, the store is a mess--stuff just piled everywhere on the floor, random shelves, it's unorganized, always crowded and consistently lacking workers. There is always a line (at least 10 people deep) to go up to one cash register. It's ridiculous. This has been my experience every time I come here. If you looking for art supplies you are better off driving over to their sister company Aaron bros across the street. The past three times I've been in here I usually can't find what I'm looking for, or the freakishly long lines at check out deter me from purchasing anything. The large selection of merch is fun to browse through. To their credit they sell so many different types of anything arty that it's not surprising that it's a bit chaotic. I bought 5 pens and only 2 barely work. They really need to lock the pens because everyone uses them as testers and treats them poorly. Unless something is sealed don't buy it. Don't make my mistake and throw away your receipt so you can't even return faulty products. Also, I've bought paper pads from here and then I noticed that there are sheets that have been torn out (probably by kids whose parents don't monitor them). Michael's really needs to monitor people better and have signs that say if your or your kid damage something you have to buy it. There's also NO ONE to be found to answer questions. This doesn't seem like the employee's fault since management doesn't want to hire enough employees. I miss all the independent art stores that have closed. Michael's has damaged products half the time and poor customer service while Joann's is too messy to even find anything decent. read more

Michael's is a very busy store, and is one of the only craft supply stores in the area. Think about it, It provides supplies for teachers, school projects, artists, scrapbookers, bakers, weddings, decorators, and custom framing, therefore stock sells out quickly and is replenished weekly. From my experience employees always answer the phones and do their best to answer questions, even when there is a long line. A lot of times the lines may look long, but it can move fast! From what I can see, the line gets held up when there's no barcode on an item and the cashier has to run back and look, also when something rings up wrong. It would help if you check for barcodes and sale signs carefully before standing in line. The store is often messy, my guess is because it has a lot of customers and kids coming through and missplacing things. Its only natural. From what I read, customer care is an issue. Everytime I come in I can tell that customer care is a priority. I always get help when U need it. I've even had an employee help me when she was headed to break! I could tell she wanted to go, but helped me just the same, was polite, and helpful. I also go to this store a lot, but before I knew the layout of the store, I'd just ask a cashier where my item was and she/he lead me the right direcen. The layout of the store is: srcapbooking, stamps, professional art supplies, paint, and frames are on the left. Gift wrap, cake decorating, school project supplies, yarn, sewing, and shirts are on the right. From my experience, Michael's is a good, but very busy store. Do yourself a favor and don't come in on Sundays or you'll wait in line. read more

I have to say I can spend hours in michaels however the last two times I've been there really turned me off. I've been redoing an outside patio table. I had attempts to spray paint it but 1. I'm not a crafty person 2. know nothing about spray paint. I found the little spray paint section that is locked and pushed the button and waiting and waited and waiting .... And waited until finally someone saw me and she told me she would grab the key. Then I seemed to do the unthinkable and ask about what paints would be best and the lady said that she knew nothing about paints. Uh... U work in a craft store with primarily paint! Then she started pulling out and handing me paint colors I didn't want. Yep that michaels trip didn't go over so well. Then my last trip to michaels I was returning all of the spray paint I bough because it was all wrong and asked the cashier if she had anymore mosaic tiles. She responded all we have is what is in the back. My question: there is probably over 3,000 supplies here. How do u know that that is the only one?!?!? Needless to say if this lack of customer service keeps up I will be asking to speak to a manager... I work in customer service and this is not it. I would give it four stars if the customer service was out of the world and it was more organized but as for now, it deserves a two. read more

Michael's is so redonkulously expensive! Sometimes they have good sales and a 40% off coupon. I actually bought some painting supplies there today but I was still a little shocked as to the prices of their items. I was looking at a box of Basics acrylic paint. I have something really similar to it that I had bought at Blick for $25... Well, they wanted $70. And they have their "Artist's Loft" which is basically like an attempt to make art attractive and accessible to the masses... When it already is, duh. But it's pretty poor quality, and probably more suited for fun-time-art-stuff for little kids and not their target demographic. And being that Michael's is a craft store it attracts a lot of stay at home moms. (Which are becoming more of a rarity) Have you ever been to Michael's during the day when the kids are at school? SOOOOO weird. I feel like most of the people shopping there took enough time to step away from QVC to do some real shopping. Harsh, but true. However, I'd go to Blick any day over this. read more

This Michaels is clean and packed with tempting creative projects. They also have a full framing department at the rear of the store with some great selections. Most craft stores don't carry much of a selection of canvases for painting, but here you will be surprised. Great selection, great prices, lots of sizes. I've been in this store maybe 1-2 times over the years since I'm not in this area. So when I went into the store Friday for some cross stitch string I had no idea where it was in the store. I ran into an associate right away and asked for the embroidery section. She pointed me to the left side of the store and said, "I think it is on that side." So I went on my way. Couldn't find it. Wandered the store some more. Found it on the opposite side of the store. Maybe she's new? I don't know. But I do know someone in the store should know and what's the point on walkie talkies then? I really don't like the set up of this Michaels. I couldn't get the app to work in the store either. Maybe it was my data on my phone but no connection at all. The staff is jaded and there's rarely ever enough cashiers working when it's busy. Not a lot of craft stores in the area, so Michael's is good in a pinch and you can usually find whatever obscure thing you need that you can't find elsewhere (I needed candy bags, I gots some candy bags). There is this one cashier girl who is always super nice, friendly, and helpful. My coupon wouldn't work from pulling it up on the iPhone so she just grabbed one from her supply and let me use it which I REALLY appreciated! And of course the store always has what I need...but the cake supply section needs some attention re:cake boxes... it's sometimes out of the size I need which I think must be the most popular one cuz it's the only one they ever seem to be out of. I love Michaels. For me it's my ultimate shopping mall. I frequent this branch because it's in Dublin. Although lines are long, it's fine with me unless I am in a hurry. I appreciate this one lady (Betty, i think) because she was patient with me when I had do do some complicated returns. 3 stars because although I find most of my cake decorating supplies here, I don't like the fact that they don't give you coupons. I have been to other Michaels and their coupons just lay on the counters and you can just get some. Or if you forget your coupon at home, they will give you one. Wow.. do NOT do your custom framing here. Nice people and good customer service, but the worst framing quality and experience. After placing my order, I was told it would take one month to have it ready, and they gave me a date. Sure, no prob. The date came, and they said it wasn't ready yet, and that it was delayed and is scheduled to be delivered that day. They said they'd work on it right away. Waited another 4 days or so. No phone call so I went in and they said it arrived, but the manager was out so no one was here to assemble it. "Give me 30 min". So I told her I'd wait. It finally finished and when they pulled it out to be inspected, there were KNICKS, CHIPS and GLUE all over the moulding. And, the quality of the cuts and assembly was horrible! On top of that, they made the inset wrong (they built it around the moulding instead of around the matte!), and they didn't even notice it until I pointed it out. So they took it back and told me they'd do an "expedited" replacement order. That took another 3 weeks. I went in and they said again that it hadn't delivered yet and it was "scheduled to be delivered that day" (deja vu!). Another week passed it it was finally ready. I went in and again it was KNICKED, CHIPPED and GLUED all over. I said this was ridiculous and asked for a refund. I gave 2 stars simply because the clerk didn't give any hassle with the refund and was very courteous (even though she also messed up on the refund and would have credited me back too little if I didn't catch it!) And to add icing to the cake, this was at 70% off, which still came out to be nearly $350. Which means, the regular price would have cost over $1100!!! I hope no one paid full price for this. I wouldn't go back even if they offered it at a penny! read more

This is a store that has a lot of great things but I was shocked the location was so badly kept. Items had been open and restapled, there were 4 bow maker kits but all the boxes were damaged so I questioned if the bow maker inside was damaged, the floors were cluttered with items that had fallen off the shelves. The ribbon aisle had many ribbons that had been handled so much they were filthy and some even had ink stains on them! I asked one person how to find several items (I had to take some time to find someone) and she rattled off shelf numbers like a roulette wheel......"rows 136, 122 and 120." I'm not a regular customer so maybe this is a one time thing but I remember the Michaels of the past was cleaner and more professional. This store was a mess! read more

I shopped here on Feb 17, 2022 in the afternoon. I walked around the store a long time without finding what i had come in for. I perused items on a display but lost interest since none were marked with prices. I went to the framing section to ask that employee how I may get help to find what I was looking for. He saw me but stayed in the back of the room. I eventually wandered around again and choose one item but never found what I had come in for. At the register, the messy-looking, unprofessional young lady gave lots of excuses for the non-existent service, including: she's had a hard life, she has made a lot of mistakes, she has come a long way. But her favorite excuse was that I was the problem. She even said that most customers are better than I am. She often laughed inappropriately, including laughing at most of what I said. It was creepy. I understand now why I had seen no other customers in the store. Looking forward to their going-out-of-busyness sale. read more

Amazing job on framing a signed record I had spent a lot of money on! Girl i worked with (believe her name was Angel) was so helpful and listened to me in what I wanted and what I was looking for. End result was incredible and it looked 10x better in person! What really floored me was the price! $207 out the door and that's using the fancy museum glass and a really nice wood frame and 3 different colors in the background altogether and they're all suede. The framing department was super helpful. I had a burlap print made on Etsy and wasn't sure what size frame I needed. I originally thought 8x10 but was wrong. The lady in the frame department took the measurements for me and then showed me all the frames that would work. While I may sound like an airhead for not knowing the measurements, the lady helping me even agreed it was an odd shape/size. read more

I gave Michael's 2 stars because I love their selection of items, and prices, but I LOATHE going to this store! The cashiers are SOOOO slow. I've worked in retail for years, so while I have high expectations, I am really sympathetic to my fellow retail workers... but dear Lord. I want to pull out my hair and light myself on fire at the slowness of some of the employees I've encountered here (and the fact that it takes 10 people in line for them to open another register!). Most Michael's are generally out of everything. In this one I couldn't even tell because it was so small. The aisles are really narrow and you cant really even see the signs for what is in each area of the store. Watch out for a cashier named June. I went to the store last week to return some items that I had bought the Thursday before. I handed my receipt over to June along with the merchandise and told her that I'd like to return the items for a refund. She scanned the items and shoved my receipts back along with what looked like a Michael's Gift Card. I asked her why she gave me store credit when i wanted a refund. and she said "That IS a refund". I said I had asked for a refund to my credit card, not credit to the store. After trying to explain the difference to her and not getting any response, I asked to see the manager. She stalled, but finally paged him, then shoved my receipts aside and said nothing. The store manager came out and listened to my complaint and he explained that it's the computer that decides who gets store credit and who gets a refund. This seems completely insane, but he offered no other explanation. Then I noticed that the amount credited to my store gift card was less than the amount of merchandise I returned! I showed the manager this, and he quizzed June the cashier, who offered up no explanation. The manager proceeded to re-enter in my returns, and after 15 minutes I was finally giving a refund back to my credit card. He handed me my receipt, and said "here you go". No apologies, nothing. I was treated rudely and had to wait over 20 minutes to do a simple return and neither he nor June could thank me for my patience. I don't want to have to ever deal with customer service like this again and so I am taking my business elsewhere. read more

Every time I'm in this store the check out line is 100 yards long and super slow. How hard is it on a Saturday to add another cashier? Make sure to take someone with you to stand in line while you do your shopping, that way when you are done finding your stuff you wont need to wait. This Michael's is the craft mega mart of the East Bay. You can pretty much find anything under the sun craft related here. 9 times out of 10, I find what I'm looking for and always bring my 40% off a single item mailer coupon. Criticisms are that during the holidays, the lines are SUPER long...sometimes 20-30 minutes long...usually because they're understaffed. Obviously, it's tough to find someone to help you if you need it. Also, it's a bit messy, crowded, and cluttered. Other than that, it's still the go-to place for that artsy fartsy part of your heart. read more

I'm done....I have been going to Michaels for years because they usually have what I need. I stopped expecting to find any effective service help awhile ago. What has finally turned me away for good are the constant long lines at checkout. Often, there are only 2 registers open and 20 people in line. Equally aggravating is that its not uncommon to see employees talking to each other and not helping with the line. Last week I needed a frame. I went in, found one, stood in line for 20 minutes to purchase I then took it home. When i removed the wrapping, I discovered the frame was broken.I returned to the store and got to stand in an even linger line for the return. What's the customer service desk for?? There were 2 people standing there, by an unused resister, talking. They both pointed at a long checkout line and told me I needed to go "over there". They saw the line and could have cared less. I am no longer interested in supporting a store that actively treats their customers poorly. read more

I've been to this store many times and it never fails to disappoint as the staff is consistently unhelpful and the "great deals" are usually unavailable on the items that I want to purchase. Here's the proverbial straw that provoked me into writing this review, which has been long overdue. We were shopping for frames and found some at a good price. So my husband picked up one and went to the counter only to find out that the special pricing was for a different frame and the frame we picked up was at 3x the cost. Apparently, the "great deal" was supposed to be in the same section but they were all out and no one bothered to update the pricing. The counter staff was unconcerned, unapologetic, and unhelpful as always. Like all other large chains, Michael's is a great example of how you can get away with poor service and poor inventory as long as there's no viable competition and have adequate stock of fast-moving items that appeals to your core market. read more
