I can't recommend Michael's and will never shop there again. The people there are nice, but their corporate office has a defective online computer system that screws up orders and the emails it sends out. They use wifi calling where you get a lot of background noise and static, dropping calls when the wifi drops etc. And then you don't get your refund. I'm having to go thru my bank to get a refund. Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes, even Ebay, don't have this problem, especially with refunds. They have the same items. I tried Michael's when they advertised a 50% off sale. My first online order went really well, so I placed a second order, got the email saying it was ready for pickup, only to get an email the next day saying they cancelled the order because they didn't have it. So I called and the clerk told me the emails are auto-generated, they have no control over it. The store manager confirmed this, saying he's complained for over a year. Okay. But when I asked about my refund, he said to call Michael's corporate office. But then I get another email the same day, saying the order is ready for pickup. So I call again, and was told the same, again. So I call the corporate office number for Michael's, who told me the $90 charge would drop off after midnight. It didn't happen. I again call Michael's corporate office and get the same story. The online clerks flat-out lied. I had to ask my bank to dispute the $90 charge, and they are. The emails from Michael's are enough. But because of the time and effort, I can't recommend Michael's and will never shop there, again. I have referred this to the state consumer division. Most of us don't have time for this, and I'm sure a lot of people never got their refunds. The cost of going thru small-claims court outweighs any refund. If this is the case, Michael's corporate is looking at a class action lawsuit. Yep, "Buyer Beware" applies to Michael's Home Decor and Accents. read more

This Michaels is located in a prime place. Tons of great shops surrounding it. Decent sized parking lot. They had a ton of things on sale. The store is neat but IMO not shopper friendly as far as navigating through the store. I asked an employee where something was and I was given an isle range. "Between 20 & 24" she said. I guess I can't complain about that since she was right. While there tho I was injured by the packaging of one of the items I was purchasing. Terribly too, it poked me (stabbed) me a bunch of times. read more

I ordered a pick up order for a photo emulsion kit and I drove 20 minutes to get this order and when I got home I saw they gave me 12 mixing paints. This was extremely inconvenient. They are clearly negligent and you should NEVER shop here. Go to a different Michael's. Also when I picked up an order I said "I have an order for pick up" and the old lady working said "A Micheal's order?" obviously??? With the addition of curbside pickup, I might shop with Michaels more often! I hate shopping, and Michaels can be overwhelming to me. So shopping online and picking up curbside is the perfect way to shop, in my opinion. I don't like paying for shipping, and if I plan my pickups for the same day, I can trip chain and have a lower carbon fooprint than shipping. Curbside pickup let me shop leisurely online, find the frame I needed, and still use a coupon. (Like BB&B, one should NEVER shop without a coupon.) I bought 2 instead of one because I wasn't sure which fit my needs best, so the process actually led me to purchase more. I found a use for the extra frame rather than deal with returning it. Both were priced quite reasonably. Pickup was quick and easy. I parked in the designated spot, called the store, and an employee put my order in the trunk and sent me on my way in minutes. I got so many errands done in half the time it would normally take if I had to enter each store. read more

What good is "value" if service and selection are not provided. After spending at least 30 minutes picking out a mat and frame for a piece of artwork, I was advised that I'd have to bring the artwork back because their system was down. I had been advised the system was down when I arrived and that they wouldn't be able to tell me the exact cost I would incur, but I was not advised that I would have to make an extra trip. I'm 81 years old and it's hard for me to stand up for a long time, so this episode was extremely annoying to me. Their excuse was that because of liability issues they could not keep my artwork until their system was up. This makes no sense to me, I will not return for any reason. This is a nice store and workers are friendly. But I'm so disappointed each time I get a grab bag at this store (the closest to me) and that they are now double the price at $10 with a major decrease in what/savings is in there! I drove down today - 40 minute drive to grab one - because I needed some Christmas crafts and was too late for the 90% off sale and it's always fun to be surprised at what you get. Well, this is the first time I feel like I got ripped off on these. It was just over $114 worth of stuff and it was all the ugliest, unusable stuff around. I've done these before and seen a LOT of unboxing videos and this store seems like it has the worst selection and "bang for your buck". 1/2 of what other stores give in a normal grab bag/box. Normally they contain a couple $$100 dollars worth of savings - and much better than the 90% off but I would have rather paid just $1.40 more buying it at 90% off and would have choose even 2 things that I wanted. I mean- I know prices are up bit wow- talk about disappointing. I know this is literally a grab bag - but even with a dud box you can find a couple things that are good - First time I couldn't find ANYTHING 1/2 way decent or usable. All the same small ugly ornament kits with no variety. Literally dozens of the same thing someone dumped a whole basket of them then closed it up. Though it's a bummer their "Calico Critters" toy line sells more expensive than toys are us. $6.99 @ toys are us locations and $9.99 at Michael's. I was really excited because they sell typewriters for $200.00, they sell exclusive and dedicated ink stamp collections, journals, bedroom and decor. They have friendlier staff than Joann's. I felt more thrilled o spend my cash here than anywhere else. read more

I was at first perplexed when I walked into Michael's for some last minute photo-booth-prop-shopping. WTF? Like, half the store was cordoned off with yellow tape like a crime scene and all those shelves were empty. Besides that, the place was totally bustling. Then it dawned on me after about 10 minutes of shopping and finally paying attention to the gigantic posters all over: they are about to move (across the street, in fact), so that made me feel better. This isn't the closest craft store to me, by any means, but I was on that side of town and found it worth checking out. Great for last minute shopping, lots of seasonal inventory marked down for a quick sale, and even though there were tons of people the checkout folks seemed to get everyone moving pretty quickly. I recommend! If you are an impulsive shopper, watch out here because you could walk away with a jam-packed cart. read more

I was never into arts & crafts until I became a bride. Suddenly, I wanted to preserve little details of the wedding into a scrapbook. Michaels had everything I needed and more. They have so many patterns of scrapbooking paper to choose from, and none rated high on the Cheese Factor. My favorite is their huge selection of Jolee's Boutique wedding scrapbook stickers. Who knew someone somewhere (Jolee at her boutique, I guess) actually makes stickers of wedding cakes, table settings, and wine glasses? My maid of honor actually put together my bridal shower/bachelorette party from stuff from Michaels. She was able to collect decorations, candles, party favors, and stripper (just kidding) all from one place. I liked the $1 patterned Chinese food take-out boxes she got from there that were filled with cool little gifts for the guests. Very nice touch from the standard tulle bag of nail polish I usually get at other bridal showers. Although they are a little pricey, it's the convenience of one-stop shopping that makes me happy. I found similar ribbon spools at Joann's for less, but they don't have as much selection overall. For an extreme foodie, I have spent more money at Michaels than at some restaurants. But that's because I'm a scrapbookzilla now. 1 star off: it's so far from everything! read more

They always have deals on something. I ordered a tree online and had it set for pickup. When I got there, I saw the tree I ordered was sitting outside. It was not what I was expecting. That was on me. But we found another tree that was exactly what I was looking for. We couldn't find it. But when we went to pickup the previous order they were able to find the fee we did like and the exchange was super easy. The manager and the cashier were both helping us and were super friendly and joked around with us. The checkout line is an absolute trap. This trip caught me with serval small toys for Christmas gifts. read more

I always come here when I am in need of craft supplies. They usually have what I need and most of the time they have a coupon of some sort for you to use. Service is friendly, but you do need to go through in search of isles for supplies because sometimes what you need may not be in the isle you think it'd be in. Otherwise, I love Michaels. read more

Do not go here for custom framing. Nope, never, just don't do it. What's that? You got a 50% coupon in the mail? You're thinking of ignoring my advice? You poor sap!! Even with the coupons, this place is a total rip off. I brought a couple of cheap ass prints to get framed and they quoted me $300 for the two of them (NOTE! for the TWO of them), but said I should come back the next day to get the best coupon deal. I went back the next day and they said it was going to be $600, $300 EACH. I was about to walk out, but my man just wanted to get the damn things framed before we had family in town, and they promised it by then. So, in spite of my protests, we left them with the prints. The date passed and they never called. We called and they said "Soon." We called a week later and they still hadn't done it. We finally went down there and got our prints back. They hadn't even started the project. No excuses were given, but they did refund our money. If I were you, I wouldn't bother. read more

Michaels is basically the same wherever you go. Large stores with plenty of items for crafty folk. I would not be one of those folk. However, I did need some scrapbook materials so I recently stopped by. This store is big and while I find their layout confusing, the staff pointed me in the right direction and I found everything I needed. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly and helpful. I'm not exactly sure how I ended up in Michaels. I was originally on the search for a good fabric store, and I was pretty convinced there was a Arts and Crafts store with an M-name somewhere down Colorado Blvd.. one thing led to another and I found myself in Michaels. Not the old Michaels, the new, shiny, pretty Michaels. Here's the bad news: there is absolutely zero fabric in here. Unless you want to count stitching together all the felt sheets into some kind of Frankenstein bolt of cloth. Here's the good news: their new location is fantastic. Bright, clean, well organized and well stocked. It's like Hobby Lobby but without the kind of unspoken creepiness. Unfortunately it's also like Hobby Lobby but without all the sales. I want to give it 5 stars for really turning the place around from what it used to be (kind of like an Arts & Crafts store homicide scene) but it gets 3 stars for having higher prices and smaller selection than Hobby Lobby. read more

I never remeber my coupon and this place isn't a nice as other with helping a sister out. I found the staff very helpful. This place is filled with knick knacks. Love knick knacks? Need more "stuff"...Michael's has it. Downsizing? Stay away from Mchaels, where you will undoubtedly buy shit you do not need. In my desperate search for 80's paraphernalia, and accessories, I drifted into Michael's in search of some very specific items which I know maynot exist anymore. I found a cheap basket for 5 dollars but l was looking for confetti or something to fill the basket with. The manager James saw me browsing around and helped me by giving me ideas and was really nice. We walked across the store and l added balloons, our word letters, and candy. Great experience here today (after leaving Jo-Ann Fabrics empty-handed and utterly frustrated, boo hiss). Michaels had everything I needed for an upcoming project and kept me from having to visit the hardware store after, which obviously made me super happy. Clean, well-stocked store with a great variety of fine art and crafting supplies! The layout is pretty intuitive, and almost everything I needed was really easy to find. And I was able to locate the one item evading me by pulling it up in the Michaels app and using the handy map that showed me right where it was in the store. I'm guessing this Michaels is under new management since I visited it a couple of years ago, and I have to say it's a big improvement. Good work, whoever is in charge now! what possible rationale can this return/exchange policy have... unopened, unused merchandise WITHOUT original receipts is allowed only 80% value (of lowest sale price) on a Michael's card. Even if you exchange for the SAME item (different color, etc.)--you have to pay 20%!! I am guessing they are not reselling those returns at a discount--why penalize your own customers for trying to spend their darn $$$ here. Creepy. This is a great place to grab cheap yarn for gifts and charity projects. Their needle selection isn't the greatest, but I usually don't skimp on needles, anyway. They have a big selection of flowers and scrapbooking materials and some really good instructional books. I haven't taken any classes there, but they usually have some good ones, at least based on appearances. I'd totally suggest you check out their weekly. Not too long ago they had 40% off all their frames, which was great. The younger folks that work there leave a lot to be desired and make it more than a little evident they'd rather not be there, but hey. It's a craft store and they're forced to wear navy craft vests. I can't say as I blame them much. Lastly, if you go around the holidays, be prepared to wait in line at the registers. read more

Crafty is something I am not, but since I am settling into my third decade of existence rather peacefully, I would like to get in touch with my more creative side. Michael's seemed like a good place to start. The store is large and has, to my untrained eye, everything people would need to complete their DIY arts and crafts projects and at reasonable prices...well, maybe with the exception of fabric. Can not recall if they have that here, and if they do, you are still probably better off going to Jo-Ann's... The lines on the weekend are always long, but they move very quickly and are formed between bins full of impulse purchases (nail files, notebooks, party napkins, pencils etc) so you kill time looking at the junk. Also, they have the cool baskets with a handle for pulling around the store. I really love those stupid things. read more

This store has probably one of the biggest selections of crafting materials. I love shop here for origami papers. The down side is that they don't have enough staff for the enormous store. The isles are not always labeled properly (sometimes unlabeled). I always take a long time to browse if I am looking for something particular since there is usually nobody around to direct me to the right place. read more
