There were rows upon rows of all different types of cross stitch kits, patterns, books, trinkets, supplies, and more. They were very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful; especially when I was trying to decide on the fabric and threads to go with the kits I bought. These ladies were amazing! It had been a long time that I have cross stitched and they worked with my budget and the prices seemed reasonable. They also hold classes. Hands down THE destination for spinners (and all fiber artists!) in Denver. I recently bought my first wheel there, and Karen gave me wonderful advice and guidance in choosing the right wheel for me. She even worked with me to find a time we could meet with my work schedule, and stayed late when the store was closing to help me! I'm completely satisfied (thrilled even) with my purchase and thankful to have such an asset nearby to help with spinning. If you're looking to purchase a new wheel, they have a big stock, good prices, and really know their stuff! Karen also raises award winning alpacas and sells their fiber at the shop. They have GORGEOUS alpaca fiber, as well as just about every other kind of fiber you could think of, not to mention finished yarn, both handspun and commercial, as well as knitting, crochet, and weaving supplies, all kinds of spinning supplies, and wheel accessories and attachments. It's a lot of great stuff packed into a small space! Blazing Star is a must-visit if you're in the area and into fiber arts- I'll definitely be back again and again.

This odd little shop shares a storefront in downtown Englewood with Anderson's Vacuum/Colorado…read moreShaver Center. The large signs are all for the shaver/vacuum business, so look for the north door that says, "Blazing Star Ranch." The genesis of the business is the ranch in Elizabeth, Colorado where the owners have a herd of 60+ prize-winning alpacas. Much of the wool in the shop comes from this herd, but the owners seek out and represent other local and international craft yarn producers and dyers. Things are a little disorganized and the inventory is limited, but the yarns and raw wools are very unique and interesting. The shop also sells and services equipment for spinning and weaving and offers a roster of intensive classes. This is a very unusual shop, even for the yarn business. Don't let the strange location put you off. This is a great resource for anyone interested in quality yarn or spinning and weaving. Tours of the ranch are offered if you would like to meet the alpacas.

I don't know if they thought I couldn't hear but I was the only individual at the store and there was no music playing. Very uncomfortable and strange atmosphere. Still excited to learn but will be getting my materials elsewhere.

I know where I'm going the next time I need to get some art framed!…read more I recently got a couple of pieces framed at Frame by Frame, and the customer experience could not have been better. Greg helped me right away and listened to what I was envisioning for the frames, the places I hoped to hang my art and he helped narrow down the choices for me. The turnaround time was quoted as four weeks, but my items were ready for pickup after only one week. One of these days, I'd love to just look at the art they're selling and all the different frame options. Apparently, there are over 3,000 options to choose from!

Some yarn stores can feel intimidating if you are returning to the craft after time away or if you…read moreare not especially advanced. The Lamb Shoppe has never felt that way to me. I first started shopping here around 2010, then stepped away from knitting for quite a few years before recently returning. What stood out immediately was how welcoming the environment still felt. Being warmly welcomed back after such a long break genuinely meant something. Over the years, I have consistently noticed how knowledgeable and helpful the staff is. They are willing to answer questions, help troubleshoot patterns or projects, recommend yarn substitutions, and guide people toward classes or tools that fit their skill level. I have also witnessed many moments where customers came in trying to rescue a knitting "disaster," and the owner, staff, and even fellow customers jumped in to help. There is a real sense of community here that feels increasingly rare. The shop itself is comfortable and inviting, with a strong selection of yarns, books, tools, and classes ranging from beginner to advanced. It feels like a place designed not just to sell products, but to support people who enjoy fiber arts. The location is another plus. Street parking is usually manageable, there are coffee shops and restaurants nearby around 12th and Madison, and it is right along the RTD #10 bus route. Whether someone knits, crochets, needlepoints, or is completely new to fiber arts, The Lamb Shoppe seems to make a sincere effort to make everyone feel welcome.

It's a store with a terrific selection of yarns at all different price points, it's a haven for knitters/crocheters of all skills. No matter what I'm working on, I can find help with a quick question from staff that are knowledgable AND friendly. If it's more involved, I can schedule a private tutorial. Or, they have fun classes as well. I've lost track of how many classes I've taken here -- all of them have stretched my knitting capabilities. On top of that, it's a beautifully laid-out store that sparks creativity. Yes, I might find some of the yarns for a couple dollars less online, but to see and hold those yarns and to sit at one of the tables to be in community with other knitters/crocheters and see what others are knitting cannot be replicated online. And... if you just want some great choices of yarn, you don't need help, or classes or want to knit in community -- you got that too!
