We were left to admire the artist's work and envision what it might look like in our space. These are not ordinary pieces, but make a statement of beauty and artistry. The owner, Brian, came and hung my art yesterday and I am thrilled. Earlier in the day, I had called Sam about my delivery window. It was her day off, but she immediately returned my call. It's just a fun and interesting stop when you visit Breckenridge. And, the pieces of art are amazing. My friends ended up purchasing artwork, as well, for their new home in Glenwood Springs. Thanks to Sam (and Brian) it was a great experience, which means I will treasure my artwork that much more.

The kind of place I imagine people don't lock their homes or cars. After a late, delicious breakfast at Happy Cooker, we took a stroll down the main street (6th Street). One of the places that caught our eye was Georgetown Gallery. It shares a front door with Georgetown Coffee & Tea. We're not big on visiting galleries because they either have outrageous prices or the art is so bizarre or ornate it's nothing we would consider putting in our home. But Georgetown Gallery is different. It is made up of several mini-galleries from artists who make unique, affordable, and very tasteful pieces. If I had unlimited funds, I would have needed two men and a small boy to carry out all the pieces of art I would have purchased! The artisans also take turns staffing the place. On this day we got to meet Karen Heber. A retired school teacher turned painter and potter. We purchased one of her lithographs. (It's the one she shows on the gallery's website.) There were a few others we also liked but our budget wouldn't allow us to buy everything we liked. Karen's pottery was beautiful and cool, but we bought a piece of pottery from another artist to fit the decor of a friend's home. Between you and me... this gallery is VERY affordable and many of the pieces are a BARGAIN! We expected the piece of pottery we bought to easily be around $35. When Karen said it was $18 we just looked at each other like "Okaaaay, wrap it up!" All-in-all it was a pleasure to speak with Karen, learn about her art and the local history, and take our time looking around the gallery without being pressured. I'm sure we'll be visiting the gallery again around Christmastime when the town has special holiday festivities.

We arrived all bundled up but the blankets in the sleigh were much appreciated as well. After our sleigh ride, they offered to give us a tour of the mine as well, which was an unexpected but nice gesture.

Chasing Rabbits? More like Chasing Dessert, Dignity, and Fresh Air…read more We came to a rabbit-themed restaurant, and somehow they did not have carrot cake. That is like going to Red Lobster and being told they are out of seafood. Carrots are literally the rabbit's entire brand. Absolutely unserious behavior. Then we ordered a dessert drink that supposedly came with bunny ears. It arrived earless. At this point, the rabbits weren't the only things being chased..... Just when we thought the evening couldn't get stranger, someone walked past our table and crop-dusted us with the confidence of a person who had diplomatic immunity. I cannot prove it was the hostess, but spiritually, I believe it was the hostess. The breeze had authority. The atmosphere was cool, the concept was fun, and the experience was unforgettable, primarily because our bodies may retain the scent forever. No carrot cake. No bunny ears. Mystery gas attack.
