A few months ago I found myself in Denver and my first stop was the LNS! The women at Diversions were beyond helpful - advising me on how to kit several different projects. They even let me test out a thread zapper to make sure it worked before I bought it (I'd just bought a faulty one from Amazon). They had a huge variety of canvasses divided by theme and occasion, and I found two lovely ones to purchase. I'll definitely be returning to Diversions next time I'm in the area! The only thing that threw me off was that it felt like there was an assumption I had never stitched before when I walked in. They were rude before we even finished entering the door. Lady looked down on us from the minute we walked. "You know- this is all needlepoint" she said as if that was beyond us. I found some floss I wanted to buy- asked a clerk nearby how much it was because there were no price tags- she bellowed to another lady who responded "I think it's $4.25." Lady near me tells me she thinks that's right. Other lady says "do you want me to look it up really?" I responded "well only if you want me to buy it". I went to check out and saw a small sign that said "the best part of my job is that my chair swivels around". I was treated as if I was bothering the clerk by wanting to check out. In comparison another Denver store "The Stitching Shop" is so welcoming and inviting. Do better ladies- do better. read more

What a great find, and boy oh boy do they have a a ton of needlepoint canvases, and a beautiful collection of threads. Make sure you give yourself time to shop and search for bargains. I found mine (2 - 3D cookies from LSCC for $22.00 each). Parking is easy and the women that work there are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help. I sent an email to Diversion Needlepoint Shop on the morning of May 30, 2020 asking them if they had a certain floss for a new cross stitch project. Early Tuesday morning, June 2nd I had not heard from them. While out running errands, I was driving by the shop after lunch and decided to stop and see if they had the floss I needed. They did, and I bought 2 skeins of the color I needed. I was happy about that because it meant I did not have to drive all the way to another shop or pay the high cost of shipping for one skein of floss to travel across Denver. When I got home that afternoon, I checked my email and had a response from Diversions, dated that morning of June 2nd telling me they did Not have the floss I was looking for. That's funny because I was just in the shop and bought 2 skeins of that same floss I had asked about in the email, not even an hour after they sent me the email telling me they didn't have it. That is extremely poor customer service for Diversions Needlework Shop, aren't they there to provide a service for needle workers? They either lied to me outright or they just didn't look for the floss I requested and then lied about not having it. I have been in this shop(or their previous location) on several occasions and always felt like I was treated like I should not be there because I was looking for cross stitch supplies instead of needlework supplies. They are a bit too snooty for my business, so I won't bother them anymore for supplies, which would include the needlework projects I do as well. I will order my supplies online at 123 Stitch or the hundreds of other websites who appreciate my business. read more

Diversions' new space is incredible! They have more canvases and threads than I have seen elsewhere. The ladies that work there are knowledgeable and seem to enjoy their jobs. I always get great advice and creative ideas. I know I pay more than if I shop on-line but I am happy to do so in exchange for their help along the way. I came upon this place via a google search. Am I glad I gave this business a try! Helpful the minute I stepped in the door. I had two projects for which I needed background yarn. The matriarch had an encyclopedic knowledge of the yarns and supplies. I was helped by two women( one of which was the granddaughter of the matriarch) and they were so patient with me as well as helpful in making the final decision. The granddaughter has a good eye for color. They did not have enough yarn in stock BUT they were very willing to have it delivered to my home out of state! They even showed me a method of stitching I had not tried before. Thank you ladies, all! If I am ever back in the area, I WILL return! I gave them 4 stars only because my yarn has not arrived yet. What a cute specialty store! I took a beginner's needlepoint class that was wonderful. The teacher was knowledgable, the class size was small, it was reasonably priced, and the training and supplies provided were great. The store itself has a very capable staff and a variety of everything from pre-printed designer canvases to thread. Horrid customer service. They treated me like I was a clueless stitcher! I just wanted to find a place where I could meet some folks and stitch together on occasion. I miss my shop in San Francisco. I frequently get to go to Denver, and when ever I'm in town I always go to Diversions. They have wonderful customer service, and can get pieces finished beautifully. They work with me on the phone if I am in Cali, and they are always so helpful. I never can leave the shop without a new project! I visited Diversions for the first time on 8/15/15. I have needlepointed for 30 years and visited many stores across the country, and would rate their selection among the best for both hand-painted canvases and specialty fibers. There were several employees in the store right at opening time who I found to be very welcoming and helpful. They helped me select great fibers for my projects (I bought 7 canvases!) and gave me great advice on selecting stitches. The samples on display in the store are among the best work I've ever seen. If customer service is going by the wayside, the women at Diversions didn't get that memo. I recently bought a gorgeous Christmas stocking canvas to stitch for my first grand baby. The selection was vast, but with the capable guidance of the shop staff, I found the perfect one for my project. Not only did the Diversions ladies share their personal experience of stitching a stocking (they had all done many), they treated my project as if it were their own.
