I recently had to stop by two different Hobby Lobby's to get vases for an upcoming event. The first store I stopped at (Aurora Mall) the staff offered to wrap the 13 vases I bought. They actually had a few folks come over to help. However, at this store I had to ask for paper to wrap the additional vases I bought. To my dismay, the staff didn't ask to help me wrap them but instead gave me little paper and my receipt as if to say bye! I had to wrap the vases in my car. This OG store is cool. They do have a nice selection of merchandise. We wandered around and looked at the many spring items. I like all the bee themed merchandise. The prices were good as they had them on sale. No blind box cards which he wanted but we looked at the toys. Many fun items such as hobby cars and robots to build. Crafting items for scrapbooking and making diamond art. We spent quite some time there. It was fun. Parking in shared lot. read more

A huge store. I had some trouble finding what I need but eventually found a salesperson who directed me where I needed to go. I would go back as needed. Allow some time to wander around. The selection is not bad. I couldn't quite get everything I needed, but it's the only store around that comes close. read more

Terrible management. My sister in law was just banned from this store for "stealing" string ($2 string) that was not scanned but she thought was. She paid for all of her other merchandise and thought the string she was getting was scanned as well. She swore up and down she thought it was scanned and even insisted the manager watch the cameras to prove that she did not intentionally steal anything. She and her partner are long time customers of this location so this is extremely disappointing and frustrating. For being a Christian based store, this behavior doesn't at all show the Christian values. We will be telling our friends and family not to visit this location ever again. read more

We always come to this hobby lobby and we loved it always until today. We are never discriminated but today was different. While we were in line to check out I am guessing the store manager walked to the front and said "code 15" meaning security. We didn't assume anything till another cashier asked us to check out with her in which this store manager walked up behind her and whispered into her ear. I'm a huge fan of Hobby Lobby. It's such a special treat to browse thru the seasonal decor, furniture and crafting supplies. For some odd reason, this location did not satisfy my needs. Party supplies were minimal, decor was expensive and the clearance rack, which I can always find something of use, was almost bare. And unlike Michaels and Joann's, they no longer have a coupon to help save on the hits to the pocketbook. I ended up buying one sheet of balsa wood because the rest were warped. Wheat Ridge Hobby Lobby - walked into store and manager was hosting an employee meeting and reprimanding employees in front of customers. While searching for an item, asked the same manager where to find it and his response was 'in crafts, so and so is there, find them and they can tell you'. He acted annoyed that I had 'bothered' him. Checking out, the employee was not friendly, didn't know how to handle cash, didn't wrap my glass purchases or ask if I wanted a bag. I've been going to this Hobby Lobby several times a week for a few months (craft binge...if you know, you know!) and want to update my old review to say that management is doing an impressive job. Every time I'm in there for any length of time, a manager working on one of the aisles asks me if they can help me find anything. I like the fabric selection right now too. That department is hard to keep staffed because not as many people sew but the people who work back there are friendly and helpful. read more

I come here often. This is a large store with a good amount of everything! I mostly buy fabric which is good quality for a very good price! Phyllis is always very sweet and welcoming. She always takes the time to cut my fabric straight and never shorts me. The other staff that I've encountered, have also been prompt and friendly when I've needed any help and at checkout. I've been in many a Hobby Lobby for canvases, yarn, wax, silk flowers, coloring books, stryofoam balls, origami paper, spray glue and gobs of other items you randomly need to make stuff. For these type of things, Hobby Lobby is Okey-Dokey. The deals as mentioned by others are often incredibly sexy. God help me when they are having a sale. What bothers me about this particular Hobby Lobby though (and they are a dwindling lot so perhaps it is a "golden age of yore" of Hobby Lobby that I long for) is the piles and piles and rows of rows of completely useless, gaudy, decorative crap. Oh, I've been lured in by their sparkles and their inexpensive prices, but when I get them home, the true quality of their craftsmanship is evident. I almost respect them for being closed on Sundays. The idea of giving your employees time to be with their families is sweet and makes me feel like they actually care about people. Unfortunately, I'd have a better time believing that they cared about their employees if they didn't leave one overworked clerk all alone to check out 7 customers with carts full of goodies. I always feel sorry for that poor sucker. If Hobby Lobby was really a big lobby full of stuff for my hobbies, I would be happy. But Noooooooo, it's a it's really a back wall full of stuff for hobbies, 1/3 kits for crafts but primarily a vast expanse of cheaply crafted home decor, frames, seasonal doodads and things you don't ever really need like wall scones and decorative boxes. I remember a time when the percentages were more in the crafts favor and the candle and soap making row was a wonderland of choices instead of a mere endcap of meager selection. The store is huge and you need to search out help, if you need it. I've been shopping at Hobby Lobby for over 10 years. When I went through grad school as an architectural student, I found their balsa wood much more affordable than other art supply stores. Also, many design supplies are priced lower and there are sales all the time. I'm not into all the other fru fru crap they sell, personally I think it is all tacky. I am writing this message in regards to the multiple interactions that I have had with one particular employee that work at the Denver, CO (Monaco) store location. Donna works in the framing department and I feel that it is absolutely necessary to shed light on her work ethic. Donna goes above and beyond to ensure the customer not only receives the service they requested, but she makes the entire interaction beyond pleasant. I have worked in customer service a combined 15 years and she is the BEST of the BEST. She checks all of the boxes...she delivers stellar service, she interacts with the customer (not just making small talk), and most important, she remembers her customers. I know she is transferring to Montana next week, this makes me very sad. Please keep her happy, her performance is making Hobby Lobby look its best. I'll start off by saying that I like Hobby Lobby and all that they stand for. I also typically enjoy shopping here because they have a great selection of artsy home design things. At the very least, you should go here for some DIY/ creative inspiration! However, my last visit to this specific store was not very pleasant. I went there looking for some poster frames and was unable to find the size I needed so I found an employee in the frame dept. She was helping another customer, so I patiently waited for them to finish up. After about 5 minutes of standing there, she finally (rudely) asked if I needed help. I explained what I needed and she pointed me to another area. After I couldn't find what I needed there I came back and she again rudely addressed me and asked what I needed this time. I never did end up finding what I needed and I don't think I'll be going back here anytime soon. Great store, but in my experience, poor customer service. read more

This was the worst experience that I've ever had at a hobby lobby ever!! I usually love Hobby lobby and have always had a good experience for the most part, but this store in particular was a horrible experience. The employees, one in particular... A short overweight woman was very very offensive and followed me around literally to the point of it being so uncomfortableAnd made me not want to spend any money there which is a shame because I really do love the crafts at hobby lobby. I don't know why, but for some reason the craftin' bug always seems to bite me on Sundays. Maybe it's because it's a slow, lazy day... and crafting is a slow, self-indulgent pursuit. Maybe it's just because there's no better way to nurse Saturday night's hangover than by holing up in the house with some hot pho and some craft supplies. Whatever the reason, my propensity for crafting on Sundays is the sole reason I no longer go to Hobby Lobby for my crafting needs. Hobby Lobby, you see, is closed on Sundays. They do you the service of hanging a functionally informative sign (though from a craft store I'd expect a bit more in the ol' creativity department) on their door, of course. It says something along the lines of, "HOBBY LOBBY IS CLOSED ON SUNDAY TO ALLOW OUR EMPLOYEES TIME FOR FAMILY AND WORSHIP." Oh. I guess that explains their affection for WWJD bracelet kits. Do they not hire Jews? Because really... the whole closed-on-Sunday thing really isn't going to help those of the Jewish persuasion with all that Family and Worship stuff. Seriously though... do they not hire Jews? Whatever... it's not like they're any better than Michael's Craft Stores (which, incidentally ARE open on Sundays). So... Michael's it is. I am a fan of this Hobby Lobby store and it has always been here when it was time to get crafty! It is also extremely convenient for me which earns it an extra star or two! The store is a good size and they carry a really good variety of arts and craft supplies, including fabrics, fake flowers, furniture, and everything in between! My most recent stop involved picking up some un-stretched canvas and some small artist sponges for a new painting that I am itching to get out. Not only did Hobby Lobby carry a couple different brands of both canvas and sponges, I found their prices to be extremely reasonable. In addition, if you look on their website from your phone, you can pull up a 40% off coupon which they will apply to your most expensive item! I also needed to stop in here for a metallic sharpie pen for our wedding invitations. Not only do they literally carry about ten different brands of metallic pens, but again, they were all very reasonably priced. If you are looking for a place to get your craft on - you have found a good place to do it! The parking lot is ginormous so you are guaranteed to find a spot for your trusty steed! read more

As much time and money that I've spent at Hobby Lobby over the years makes me feel a bit bad about reviewing them so poorly, but honestly 2 stars is the best they deserve. As other yelpers have said, the decorative stuff is cheap, all made in China and really poor quality. The craft supplies are good. The service at this store is horrible! I think another Yelper mentioned that there is usually about 1 checkout line going, even if there are 10 people in line and 5 of them with returns to do. They have the worlds most antiquated POS system, and sadly they just updated it, they're almost into the 1990's now! The workers they have are never terribly happy, of course I don't know if I blame them when it looks like there are no more than 4 people working in the store at any given time. I had an item framed a couple of weeks ago, my pick-up slip had a date that it would be ready. I never received a call, so about 3 days after my "due date" for the item I called and asked if it was ready, stating that supposedly it should have been ready a few days ago. The very snappy worker asked "have we called you and told you it's ready yet", I said "no"---and she quickly snapped "well, then it's not ready yet, we're running behind and we're about 4 days behind, we'll call you when it's ready" There was some serious attitude when I simply asked if it was ready, I was unaware they would be calling me. I agree with Kym B. that I often have some unexplained need to start craft projects on Sunday and it's a real bummer that Hobby Lobby is not open to feed my fix. However - I went to Hobby Lobby today (Saturday) and was pleasantly surprised at all of the good deals I came away with. Granted, this is not super high class stuff and it's a little like shopping in a flea market - you have to kiss some frogs to find a prince - but even my husband who is not a big fan of craft stores found a few home organization essentials during our trip today. Like many of the stores I love, you have to be in the right mood to endure a trip to Hobby Lobby, but if you're in the mood to dig for good deals Hobby Lobby might just be the place for you (assuming it's not Sunday). I went to get a sketch of mine framed on 8/9. I was told that it would be ready on 8/23 and we would get a call when it is ready. On 8/26 I went to check on the frame and was told in a condescending way they will call when its ready. Like it was a bother to them to talk to me. I waited and waited and no call on 9/10 I gave up and went again and was told it was ready it had been their since 8/23. What a bunch of incompetent employees they have working there. No calls at all no respect for me as a customer. Like you are doing me a favor. I will take my bussness in the future to your competitors. The fame looked great and if you had treated me with respect It would be four stars. But anyone can frame a print so all you have to sell is your service witch is crap. read more

God I hate this place. I hateeee this place. I don't really like Hobby Lobby as a company-- they are the Chic-fil-a of the crafting world, after all-- but my reason for disliking this particular location is even more basic than that: it's awful. My boss has had me come here probably about 10 different times for various projects, and only ONCE have I encountered someone helpful (props to the older woman in the fabric department). You are far more likely to find whatever you're looking for before you find an employee to ask for help. If you are 'lucky' enough to actually locate an employee, be prepared to be sent on a wild goose chase around the store. Call me crazy, but shouldn't part of job training involve knowing the general layout of the store you work in? I had to ask 3 different employees where to find raffia once. I mean, I'll admit, I didn't know what the hell raffia was either... but I also don't work at an arts and crafts store. Ugh. Everything about this store is horrible. This store is much closer to where my boss lives than JoAnn's or Michael's, so she typically has me come here when we need to save time. Personally, I would rather unicycle naked and blindfolded down Colorado Blvd in rush hour to JoAnn Fabrics if it meant never coming here again. read more

More of a craft store than an art supply or fabric store. If you want to dabble with painting or hot glue yarn to calico, this is the place to pick up your supplies, but if you're already a hardcore quilter you probably won't find much. Understaffed with people who don't actually know much about beading or knitting or silk flower arranging, so it's usually not worth it to ask any questions. However, it is surprisingly a good place to shop for little personalizing things for your home. Go when it's all 40% off and you can pick up a funky wall clock or interesting vase for just a few dollars! They have the most antiquated registers, so try be patient as you're standing in line and the person in front of you is buying 65,000 individual beads, and the poor employee is having to ring each one up individually by hand.
