I dropped my Notorious 6s off with Zach from back counter and was told that "in the 5 days I'd be gone will give him plenty of time to fix it." Only needing two small parts and a 30 minute fix TOPS. I was even told "we like to let you watch when it's just a quick fix." Having am out of state wedding to get to and fly out of Denver , I told him, take your time, I'll be back next week, thanked him and left. After 5 days, this morning, I call and Zach speaks to me very rudely and tells me , "I told you we were very busy and it will be ready when it's ready," then told me "a technician" would be starting on that this afternoon. Living 4 hours from Denver, our flight arrived back in and decided to get a hotel cs drive back the following day. After waiting until 6:30pm to check in on my car after 5.5 full days and was told , "it could take two technicians and a full day to fix." AGAIN , I remind you all, it was a simple replacement of front shock tower support on the bottom side and (not even needed but thought since pro was fixing it , why not??) the piece that the shock mount connects to. NOW, I've rented a room for $115 and been out of town for , as of tomorrow am, 6 full days and Zach still haven't even touched the truck. When calling Zach this morning I tell him I'd just be taking my car home and he raised his voice as if I'd done something wrong after 6 full days of the Arrma Notorious collecting dust for the ENTIRE week. I left today with the owners info and only hope for an apology bc I was definitely not offered any type of understanding from not one single crew member. I was shocked to realize I was dealing with such an unprofessional organization. Leaving my RC was the worst decision I've made since biting my first car. After going to the store after 6 full days I was told, by the manager, Vince, NOT ZACH (He didn't have the nerve to face not apologize for the immense amount of waisted time, Vince informed me "they don't offer that service". So I'm insure if these two work at the other locations. I have the conversations recorded for proof of Fred, the owner is interested in how the customers are being treated, as if out hobby doesn't matter bc there's enough people buying so who cares about fixing them, EVEN AFTER 7 hours round trip from Steamboat to store. Please , DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND SET IT ON FIRE BEFORE YOU LET THEM TOUCH ANYTHING. IN RESPONSE TO YOUR RESPONSE: No one has reached out, all I did was get disrespected and thrown to the side. I KNOW for a fact if you mention notorious 6s that was there for a week will only take up for each other. Vince, the manager was ridiculous to defend Zach bc "they didn't have time," after I stayed in Denver an extra day, costing $115 for hotel, to only wake Up to him telling me, "and NOW you call only 30 mins after we open. It's now day..." I had to remind him, "it's day 6" ...well, "excuses excuses excuses" I was over it and still am. Yo I have my phone number if you'd like to apologize. Don't forget it was going to take "a couple technicians a whole day to fix it." I did the work on my own and now have it running like new with a full tune up with all new drive shafts, bearings and checked everything for cracks or breaks while it was taken apart. POINT BEING: I fixed it myself in a few hours and I bought my first RC (Arrma Senton) in June 3rd. Since I've been take advantage of my the only two places I've tried. Here at Colpar's (complete waste of time) and the shop located here in Steamboat. They are is it as worthless (Buddy's Hobby Shop) is their name. They won't even take 5 mins to sell you parts after they've sold you the dream of help and use of their track. Can't decide which is worse , you or them.... I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE WASTE TIME , MONEY OR FRUSTRATION ON TERRIBLE SERVICE AND TOTAL LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVIE. read more

This place has some good points and your mileage may vary depending on your actual hobby, but their variety for miniature wargaming is pretty slim. I recently got a really good deal on some apparently clearance Privateer Press models, and have gotten things on sale cheaper than online. That being said I can't stand one lady who works there, she clearly doesn't care and both times I dealt with her I came away annoyed. She made no effort to apply a purchase towards membership points. My husband is building a Star Trek ship model and bought nearly all of his supplies here today. It's a bit of a drive for us but they had everything he needed except the airbrush that he wanted. They had plenty of airbrushes but not the brand he preferred. (We found it at Michael's). This store has cars, planes, sci-fi ships, WWI & II models, and a huge model train area, along with the paints, parts, and pieces that you need. I was also pleased to find Breyer horses since I collected them as a young girl. The prices were higher than you can find online for some of the products, but that's typical of a small hobby store like this, so I'm definitely not complaining. This is a great store for parents and kids to bond. I'm sure many, many Denverites have memories of visiting this store with their parents (assuming it's been around for a while). It certainly had that nostalgic feel to it! read more

As good a Hobbytown as you're likely to find, with some surprising extras. Sure, they've got RC, they've got craft supplies, puzzles, and a fine selection of models (including some old estate sale stuff), but I was pleased to find a LARGE selection of gaming materials, particularly miniatures, terrain supplies, and minis and RPG games from a number of different manufacturers. This place tries to be all things to all hobbyists... and surprisingly, pretty much SUCCEEDS. Throw in a friendly knowledgeable staff that wants to be helpful, and I can't really think of anything bad to say about Colpar's. read more

Staff didn't know we were in store and were talking crap about us behind the counter looking up personal information on us! They were offended that we were buying items from them that are "hot" items. They were actually getting mad at us purchasing items from them. Can't recommend this Hobby Shop highly enough. I went to another local shop nearby and had a terrible experience. Luckily I stumbled across Colpar's and more specifically Hector. I purchased a 5t scale desert buggy here and got it for $29 lesser than I could buy on ebay, Vince the salesman who helped me was awesome and explained everything that I would need to do in order to maintain and operate this rc car. 2 months later I noticed my battery charger wasn't working properly and brought it back, vince replaced it free of charge for me and assured me that those chargers are really good. I go there a few times a month for 40k stuff (paints mostly, sometimes White Dwarf mag) and some pieces and parts for the RC stuff. They also have a small section of non-lego type toys (forget the name) that my 6 yr old loves, much cheaper then legos. We got a fun RC small lego car for $25-$30..so worth it. I also pick up hobby supplies I need as its always a last minute thing (glue dried out, something broke, etc) so I don't care to wait to order it online. Prices are fair as far as I am concerned, staff is 50-50 helpful and act annoyed I interrupted them putting price tags on or something else. The RC car guys are very good at what they do, man those guys know their stuff. As for some of the other complaints on low or no certain supplies or paints for the GW and Vallejo stuff I haven't had that problem. Overall I enjoy going to the store and wandering around looking at things I want but don't "need" and I will continue to go back as long as I hobby and don't live too far away. read more

Came here for a quality die cast Cessna toy for a friend who just got his pilots license, and ended up wandering around inside for over an hour! Great place with so much cool stuff. You sir are an idiot. I wrote that review back in 2010, how it was given a different date is beyond me. My daughter was in 3rd grade when I purchased this diorama set, she is currently a senior in high school. I just gave the set to another child who was also working on a school project, with instructions that if they needed any other materials to shop at Thompson's Hobbies or HobbyTown, but they are to never go into Colpar's joke of a business and patronize that establishment; less they suffer the rude and arrogant behavior that is called "business practices", from their staff and management. And ... from reading the other comments, Colpar has managed to stay true to form on how they treat their customers. As for myself I still build numerous models and dioramas. I purchase a great deal off the internet which gives me great pleasure if I am ever in Aurora driving down Havana and I pass in front of you sorry reason for a store. Knowing that I have never set foot, nor ever intend to is worth every cent I have saved to drive across town to Thompson's or HobbyTown. Please keep convincing yourself you are the only player in town. You are dead wrong and I will smile the day you close your doors for the last time. I can only imagine 8 years later, the store is still mismanaged and employing disgruntled personnel. I have been here 5 times, the staff has the typical ego problems, twice they wound up an embarrasment trying to prove worthy of that ego. Inventory is a dream but yesterday on attempted visit six, I decided.never to return. I pulled up to thier one reserved space in an overparked strip mall with a glowing OPEN sign. Moved on to park in the open parking area, they have to be nuts to allow the landlord to measure spaces for cars and customers likely using a template from Munchkinland, never seen anything like it. After failing to get into a spot I drove to the far edge of the lot and parked with no fear of vehicle scrapes and walked to their door, finding the open sign off and those egos ignoring me. No more in spite of the inventory. read more

Beware of purchasing r/c devices from here. I was extremely disappointed with the service I received at the Aurora store. I bought a r/c helicopter for my son for Christmas and after a few attempts at charging the device, the helicopter would not hold a charge, flying less than 3-5 minutes each try. I went to return the helicopter explaining the problem. They agreed to refund the money minus $5 for replacement blades. The owner said that the blades needed to be replaced so they could resell the helicopter. Why resell a defective helicopter? I was shocked that they would expect me to pay for replacement blades when they sold me a defective product. (Blades were not damaged). It was very likely that the plane they sold me was one that someone else had returned for the same reason and that they put back on their shelf to sell. And now they plan to do it yet again to some unsuspecting customer. read more

It's sad to say, but overall customer service is pretty bad here. The guy who sold me my Traxxas E-Revo was really good and I attempt to work with him mostly (younger guy pleasant attitude). Anyone else is seem pretty disenchanted and grumpy. I felt like I was bothering them when I would go in there to spend money on servicing my RC car and buy more stuff for it. One guy even told me this was the last time they would make a special order for me because I supposedly took too long to pick up the order (I was in less than 3 days from when they called). It turned out they made a mistake and couldn't find the special order when I went to pick it up. I got a weak apology for their mistake and accusations that I took too long to pick it up. The manager is ok but when I told her about it she mostly defended their bad service and said sorry. They also took over a week to repair my E-revo. When I bought it they told me it's usually pretty quick but no longer than 5 days. I was planning to get the LiPo battery upgrade and dual charger etc. from there but I'm going to check out the other hobby shop nearby instead. read more

Update: September 22. Vince ,the other manager called and made things right. I will now drive the extra 45 minutes to get good service. Great and friendly till you have a issue. Then the employees and management will talk down to you and say "Its all your fault" no matter the issue. When you buy from a local store under the impression that if you have ANY ISSUES we will take care of you. THAT'S WHAT THEY TOLD ME. So I buy $1000 in products for my son and two runs later....dead battery cell. So I figured I would go back and they would help......nope....just tell me they don't warranty anything!!! Wow...that's not what you said when I bought it. Then they say I can buy a new battery. I ask for management and I get a name and he will be here in 3 days, he's at the Aurora store right now. So then no one wants to help with this problem.... The 3 employees all say NOPE. So I call the Aurora store and ask for the owner or manager and they say the owner IS there. Nope...he won't talk to me so the manager gets on the phone and says she heard the issue and the manager WAS at the Lakewood store and didn't want to speak to me and I need to stop talking down to her. Wow... It amazes me how at the Lakewood store I ask for a management phone number and the cashier says I'm making threats and the Aurora store manager is just mean. She doesn't care because everyone is wrong and she is the manager . PLEASE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!!!!! Colpar hobbies is a favorite of our family. Great for father and son bonding! They have lots of models for everyone. Our family particularly enjoys model planes, and we were more than impressed with their large selection of models. When you go in, don't expect to come out soon. It is very easy to get sidetracked, as there is a very wide collection of whatever you happen to be paying a visit for. It moved recently. It's new location is actually merged with hobbytown, USA. The staff are very good at what they do. They are very willing and friendly if you come up to them. You can do a lot better with prices on the Internet, but if you need something right away they probably have it. They don't have much in the line of diorama supplies, but Caboose Hobbies is the Mecca for that. It's a lot of fun just browsing this store but you'll probably buy something. I go to collar hobbys a bunch. I like the location. Beyond that, it sucks! I can to get sone help with what is in stock and I never get helped. There always saying they have a customer. They are so RUDE all the time. Why work in a store like that were u deal with customers and so rude. EVERYTIME I go there no one cone up to ask for help. I've told all my buddy's to NOT go there on jewel rd. that store sucks. I've spent alit of money there. NEVER AGAIN!!! I know about hobbys than sone of there employes. This is the worst customer service. I had a model that I had not opened, was a set of knights for my daughter's diorama. Value of set: $13.50. I don't live in that part of town and so I made a special trip to return the item. I was told that I was past the 30 days and they would not return my money, I stated that I understood. I then asked if I could have store credit and I would purchase something else, the manager/owner Fred Beardslee who looks like he hates working there, told me that there was nothing that he could do. I suggested that they just give me store credit, I would use it to purchase something else that I could use and was still told NO. I mentioned to the store manager that this was not good customer service especially since the box was never open, the plastic was intact, all it had to do was be placed back on the shelf. He didn't care, he still said no. I then reminded him that I would post this rating on the internet, he said he still didn't care. The worst service ever, I will never shop there and I am an avid modeler and am starting to get into RC models. WOW they just lost a permanent customer over $13.50. What a bunch of amateurs, I own my own business and I would never treat a customer like that. What a fool!!!!! read more
