Arthur Ave has become a tourist spot and a hangout for Fordham students. This place is no exception however, the food is pretty good and the service is really on point. When you go inside you want to stay and eat they take you to the back that is like a private oasis you'd never expect. Start with the stuffed mushrooms they are pretty damn good. The drinks are pretty good as well, the shark something is awesome. I had the lobster Ravioli and I was not impressed with that. Go with the penne alla vodka. The bread and dipping sauce is by far some of the best. I will be coming back to try more things on the menu. read more

However the cuisine is quintessential home cooked Italian dishes (that are out of this world BTW)! There wasn't a single thing on the menu I didn't enjoy. We just had dinner at Michaelangelo's and it was FABULOUS!! My child is a freshman at Fordham and we're still exploring Arthur Ave. The food was incredible - we had a pizza, pesto pasta, eggplant parmesan, and lasagna. The servings were large & we then treated ourselves to two tasty desserts. Everything was delicious. But our server, AJ, was incredible, too. She was running to cover extra tables as they were understaffed on an incredibly busy Family Weekend night. But she did so with humor & grace. She was professional and kind and took care of us, even when so many guests were seated at once. Her warmth and kindness will bring us back during future Fordham visits!! I was part of a very large group that dined at Michaelangelo's Saturday October 28th, 2023. The person who made our reservation did so nearly two months in advance as it was Family Weekend at Fordham University and we knew from past experience how crowded restaurants are that weekend. The restaurant contacted her early in the week to request that we go with a "Family style" menu that would provide us with two appetizers, one salad, two pastas and two entrees served family style. The restaurant was concerned that due to the size of large reservations that night the kitchen would be better able to handle the evening if we went this route. We agreed and made selections from the limited selections offered. It was frustrating to be told that we were subject to this limited prix fix meal days ahead of our reservation, but we thought it would make the evening go smoothly. They priced this dinner at $45/person. Our reservation was for 5 pm and our entire party was at the restaurant for that time. We were promptly seated. The service was slow to start, but quickly became painfully slow. Drinks took at least 20 minutes , bread for the table 10 minutes later, and the appetizer of calamari and a tomato/mozzarella dish came out 20 minutes after that. And then we waited until 6:20 when I finally asked the woman who appeared to be the dining room manager where our food was. Her response was argumentative to say the very least. When I pointed out that another group directly next to us (who were seated at the exact same time) was already on their entree (three courses ahead of us) she said they are a much smaller group. I asked how many and she said 17...we were 21? Not one apology, but an annoyed response of "your food is coming". And then within 10 minutes the food did come out, one course right after another: caesar salad, pasta with bolognese and pasta with broccoli and spinach, chicken parmigiana and chicken francese. Not only was the food of a very basic quality, it was all food that was clearly very easy to prepare in advance. The chicken was barely warm, which was a clear indication that it was definitely made ahead and didn't even make its way to the oven long enough to be served hot.It was not flavorful and relatively dry. They did serve steamed vegetables and potatoes with the chicken dishes that were nicely cooked and they were actually hot. What really prompted me to write this review was the fact that each place setting was a salad plate and that plate served for your bread, AND appetizer, AND salad, AND pasta, AND entree! I asked one of the waiters if we could have clean plates right before the pasta came out and I watched as a server carried plates over only to be stopped by the DR manager who clearly instructed him to not replace our plates. I think if we had had a dessert as part of this menu we would have eaten it off of those same plates! The DR manager did come over to me when the chicken came out to ask "How was the food? Wasn't it worth waiting for?" I looked at her and gave a very quiet "not really. It was very OK, and in fact the chicken wasn't even hot." Full disclaimer: I am Italian American. I am not a fan of the generic "Italian food" that make its way onto the menu of most Italian food establishments. That being said, If you are going to make Chicken Parmigiana, please don't fry an unseasoned, unbreaded cutlet slathered in tasteless marinara sauce and top it with mozzarella and ask me if that is food that is worth waiting for. All of the food we were served that night was of that same quality. I know restaurants are having a hard time: food costs, staff shortages, etc. What I would like the food industry to know is that those excuses don't make it ok to serve sub par food with slow service. Figure out some other way to serve customers a nice meal: smaller portions, fewer diners, a prix fix that works. There are restaurants who are getting it right. But if it happens that a restaurant gets caught off guard and a group of 21 diners is legitimately unsatisfied, at the very least apologize and ask for patience. You know what makes poor quality food and slow service worse, an argumentative manager. read more

last time ordering dinner take out. Two weeks ago we ordered an amazing anchovy pizza. This pizza had the best crust ever. Today we decided to order dinner entrees - one chicken, one veal. The only part of the meal that was edible were the veggies that accompanied the meat. I don't know if the meat was cooked from frozen or boiled then prepared for our order but the texture was rubbery. Not at all what you would expect from a restaurant with 4+ star rating on yelp. Found this place on Yelp after a long day At re botanical garden. Dropped in around 3:30 PM on a Sunday and they were pretty empty. The service was nice and got our situated pretty fast. We were pretty exhausted and hungry so it could've been a recipe for disaster but we were greatly pleased by the ambience, quality of food, and service. I got the rigatoni bolognese which I thought was great. I also tried the buffalochicken personal pizza which by the way is a good decent size. I personally would get it to share with another friend. My friend had the white wine clam linguine which he said was yummy. Another friend had the chicken Marsala but complained that the sauce was a little too salty. My other friend also got the old fashioned pizza but didn't enjoy it too much. The restaurant in the back is huge and a cool chill spot. We had a high school reunion in June '22 here. They did a great job accommodating our group of about 60 people! Food was very nice served family style. Started with rolled eggplant, fried calamari, some rigatoni then veal, chicken and salmon . Our group had a special sheet cake for desert. Atmosphere was comfortable and accommodating. Excellent service and party was fun. Other customers were also being served but we hardly noticed. Street parking is difficult so get there early. I'm so in love with Michelangelo's of Little Italy! There are lots of great Italian restaurants in this area! Last week, me and my boyfriend came here. I chose this restaurant based on the great reviews that I read on Yelp. I came here last Friday, early evening. On the outside, the establishment looks small; due to the fact that the place itself is a house that was converted into a both fancy but casual eatery at the same time. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by a very polite waiter. Carlos caught up with the accent; referring to it as French. At the front, there is a small but cozy seating area with a wine bar. The rest of the action happens in the backyard! It's beautifully but simply decorated. The patio itself has been conditioned with roofing, so it can be enjoyed all year round. It has simple ornamental plants and flowers, along with night lights hanging above. Both great music and ambiance complimented one another; with a really cool Italian old school vibe. Frank Sinatra songs played in the background. This place attracts an after work crowd for happy hour. I saw patrons enjoying artisinal pizza, either with a glass of wine or beer. The pizzas were served rustic-style, on wood cutting boards. It also has a bar area. The food and wine menu are quite simple. Coincidentally, Blue Moon was having a promotion that evening, and our nice, tall glasses of beer, were free! Courtesy of the house! The complimentary garlic bread was brought to our table. The dipping sauce for the garlic bread is a combination of extra virgin olive oil, that was heavily laced with marinara sauce. My boyfriend ordered penne pasta a la vodka, I ordered the classic chicken marsala with a side of linguine pasta. Both were portioned to perfect size and it was cooked and seasoned beautifully. The marsala sauce was excellent for dipping the garlic bread! It has the perfect consistency, and I also loved the tender mushrooms. The best part of this wonderful experience, was the house salad. Although it was a simple side dish, all its ingredients were incredibly fresh. Nicely seasoned with its delicious balsamic vinaigrette. I was thankful that the salad plate was big enough for the two of us to share. We were both really satisfied with our meal. Next time, we will leave room for dessert, and of course, I will have a glass of wine! I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. A group of 7 of us arrived on a Friday evening for dinner. Upon arrival we were immediately seated although we arrived early for our 8:30pm reservation. We ordered a few appetizers to share which were yummy ( baked clams, calamari & etc). For our entrees we each ordered different things; some people found their food ok like it was missing seasoning, two people that ordered shrimps items felt that it was not fresh & a Ceaser salad was beyond seasoned which made it salty. The place was quiet empty for a nice Friday evening. The staff was attentive although when we ordered a second round of drinks it seemed like they definitely forgot about it because we waited very long & had to reorder our drinks. I had lunch at Michaelangelo's once and decided to order from there. I ordered a Ribeye steak with veggies and spaghetti, chicken francese, and Michaelangelos alfredo cream sauce pasta. It was amazing. My food came within 30 minutes. It was hot and cooked to perfection. the steak was excellent! They followed every direction I gave. My portions were BIG. I was so satisfied I ordered again the next day. The second day I ordered they forgot one of my dishes. I called the restaurant and they brought me the dish within 15 minutes. The lady who brought it was so apologetic. The customer service was so outstanding! they were great. They have definitely made a loyal customer out of me.I spent $60 each day and I got so much food. I should've known my experience was going to be difficult once I called to ask about their hours since it says 11AM-2AM on google. I called about 4:30pm and was put on hold for about 2mins while the hostess went to ask someone for the hours, and it's not like she put me on hold to answer a call because I could hear everything going on in the background. But I also called to make sure it was appropriate to bring a 10 year old, but she let me know that it was so I asked if I could make a reservation and if we could sit "outside". We arrive close to 7pm and the hostess tells me there's seating at the bar, I had to remind her I'm with a child and I don't want her at a bar. She then corrects herself and says that it's a table near the bar. It was fine, so we walked up the little ramp into the outside and was seated on the far right, away from the beautiful dining area and near the bar. But once I sat down I see several couches available but the host tells me they're only for parties of 4 or more and walks away. As I'm sitting I can see a gentleman with his girlfriend sitting at a couch but it seems he has crutches so maybe that's why he's at a couch. As I'm reading through the menu, here comes the host sitting a couple at a couch next to the gentleman with crutches. (Wow). At this Point I don't want to be a pain but there's another couch by the gentleman with the crutches and so I ask the hostess if we can sit there instead. She immediately tells me "No!" and I let her know that I just saw her sit a couple at a couch! She then tells me "they had a reservation" , WELL I DID TOO. (Why is this girl fighting with me, is this a restaurant or my phone company) This doesn't end here, she asks me what time did I make my reservation because they made their at 12pm (never was it my business to know that) and I tell her I made it around 4:30. She finally stops TALKING, and asks a manager or however was next to the bar if she can sit us there. I liked the spinach and broccoli but there was absolutely no flavor which kinda confuses me because there's Mexicans working in the kitchen and I know their mama taught them how to at least use some salt and pepper.
