We found out about the Miami Trolley when we got to our hotel. Its a blue trolley that takes you to different areas in Miami Beach. We took the Collins Express which goes from Washington Ave/ Lincoln Rd to 88th street.. Which is North Beach, Mid beach, and South Beach. The trolley operates from 8am to 11pm, it comes about every 15 mins on rotation, and its free. Yassss!!! I was grateful for this service because it saved a lot on transportation like ubers and lyft. There were a lot of rude drivers, but i met 3 drivers who were very nice and helpful. One driver didn't understand i was visiting so i didn't know how it worked or which one to get on. He was rude and we got off his trolley. But the next driver she really made sure everyone knew where they were going if they were lost. She was so nice i shared my food with her. They don't really get breaks so i'm thankful for their service. We got to see a lot on the ride and I'd definitely use this for transportation the next time i'm in Miami. There are several stops that are easy to get to. The drivers there drive a little aggressively. So be prepared. But they know what they're doing. Miami traffic was different than what i am used to. Very hectic, lots of horn blowing, and aggressive. I'm glad we didn't get a rental car!! The stress of driving and the cost of parking is too much. My advice is make sure you stand up when it comes because they share a stop with the Metro Bus. If you don't stand so they'll know to stop you'll get left. So remember that. Sometimes the trolleys are full to capacity, but some had lots of open seats. So its hit or miss... Also take a mask, people were coughing, sneezing, smelling, farting, picking their nose, and all sorts of stuff. So the mask is necessary as well as sanitizer... Check them out!!! Look for the blue trolley!!!! Remember it's freeeeeeeeeeee!!!

So there are a few different buses that go north a d south on collins ...if you are new to miami beach like i am you appreciate the good service of the drivers of the trollies. I have only used trollies in Prague and in Amsterdam and they have been effective. As of now the trolly is free and it goes up and down Collins from like the lincoln road mall area till mid beach and some of them go to 90th and collins. The drivers are a bit different from the drivers of the regular city of miami drivers who are big fans of yelling at people for various reasons...dont give the city of miami bus drivers any coffee. They dont need it. I dont know when they started to buy the Miami beach trollies for the trolly system but because the wooden seats are kind of rickety its probably time someone put in a purchase order for some new wooden seats so it does not have that crazy rickety feel like when you ride the bus in Cancun.

Take the trolly...it's F R E E. It's easy it's frequent. Maps are posted. Look on line or along washington for routes. Pictures included.

Living on Miami Beach has many perks, but parking can certainly be a challenge for residents competing with the influx of tourists and traffic on any given day (especially when there are limited to no free spaces!). When I heard about the new trolley service that was launching, I was excited to see that one of the routes passes right by our apartment and that the connecting routes take us to many of the places we frequent! This is also perfect for my 2017 goal of being more eco-friendly. Best of all? It's free. The trolleys are clean, air-conditioned and have free wi-fi onboard. The drivers are very pleasant and knowledgeable on their routes and stops, able to help anyone who needs help getting to their destination. If you want to map out your route yourself or time your journey out beforehand, the trolley has a handy app that lets you track the trolleys real-time and shows you all the stops and connections. We've already taken the trolley to do grocery-shopping, go to dinner, and even to celebrate NYE at a friend's house. Just another perk of living in paradise!

I took the Miami Beach trolley for the first time last week with a visiting friend and we had a blast. Past visitors have said the timing of the schedule is off and the trolley makes too many stops but it made my 2.25 mile trek from my condo to the beach 10 minutes instead of 40 so I'm not complaining. The trolley is not the cleanest inside but hey, it's free. Also, it looks like an actual trolley. Duh, I know, but I found it fun to ride in a trolley instead of a bus that calls itself a trolley. I look forward to my next San Francisco vibe ride to the beach.

    Nice drive.

This route circles the entire South Beach area and it has been one of the best services that you can find in the beach. It is so convenient! If you are ever on one end of the beach and want to get to the other the best way to get there is to just hop on the Local. No need to walk in our 90+ degree weather or move your car if it really is in a great parking spot. Cons -What keeps it from being a 5 star rating? Although most buses are in good shape, there are a couple that are dirty..graffiti, wear and tear and I know I have seen a couple of roaches in the back of one bus. ick. Sometimes the buses don't run 10-15 minutes apart, they are back to back, so you have to wait ages for the next one to pass by. But that is the exception not the norm. Pros - It is only 25 cents. It goes down West Ave from Publix and then down Alton and up Washington and through Dade Blvd. Depending on the time of day it runs every 10-15 minutes. It has a/c. For those who ride a bike, they do have a bike rack in the front of the bus. Great for going to the beach if you live on the west end. It normally is not very packed and all sorts of people use it. Not like the the metromover in downtown/brickell which serves as housing for our homeless population at times. All in all very good service for a very important local convenience. Check it out.

In March 2026, after my flight had landed at Miami International Airport, I requested an Uber ride through my phone app. Unfortunately, the driver drove to another part of the airport, despite my standing at the correct spot, messaging him the name of a nearby sign, and his seeing my blue dot on his screen. Eventually, he found me. The ride took 28 minutes, and it cost $33 plus a tip. The driver did make courteous conversation, drive safely, and did not give me a low rating.

We used Uber primarily for a few reasons: 1. My wife gets $15/month + $20 extra in December in Uber credits as the primary on an American Express Platinum Card. 2. She's an Uber One member (full $120 membership cost credited by Amex). 3. We both earn Delta SkyMiles by riding with Uber. I ended up calling multiple Ubers despite not having the first two benefits listed above. Prices were reasonable with trips ranging from $16.93 to $30.95 after tip. I noticed coming from the airport, I was charged $0.66 for the "Dolphin Expressway SR836 - 17th Ave. Eastbound" (standard SunPass rate) and a $2.00 "MIA Airport Surcharge."
