The station is located at the intersection of West 27th Avenue (SR 9) and North 62nd Street/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. It opened in 1985. But it is very similar to what other cities call Subway. I guess since Miami can not run much underground construction, the MetroRail is all above ground. The one way ticket is $2.25, but you can get a full day pass for $5.65, which allows for unlimited transfers between metrorail and buses for one full day...if you get a $2.25 ticket, you will have to pay another $2.25 when you transfer. We loved how clean the trains were, the AC was working very well when we got on. We were even a bit cold inside the train. The signage on approaching stations is very good and the maps and routes printed on the inside of the trains are very useful. The Metrorail offers one easy ride to get you where you need to go. Be from Downtown Miami and Brickell to Coconut Grove and South Miami as well as a quick trip to the airport. There are two distinct rail lines that depart from the Dadeland South station on US1. The Orange line ends at Miami International Airport and back. The Green line runs further up north with connections to the Tri-rail and Virgin MiamiCentral. There are stops along each route at many of Miami's top attractions such as Coconut Grove, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Brickell, the Lyric Theater, Hialeah and more. Metrorail opened in 1984 and it is Florida's only rapid transit metro system. It is composed of two lines of 23 stations on 24.4 miles of track. Metrorail serves the urban core of Miami, connecting Miami International Airport, the Health District, Downtown Miami, and Brickell with the northern developed neighborhoods of Hialeah and Medley to the northwest, and to suburban The Roads, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and South Miami, ending at urban Dadeland in Kendall. Metrorail connects to the free Metromover in Downtown, which provides metro service to the entirety of Downtown and Brickell area. It is a fine community on the edge of North Miami Beach. If you are looking for a great community to live in, the Town of Bay Harbor Islands is worth your consideration. In 1910 Carl Fisher began to transform Miami Beach into a world class resort destination. In 1916…read morethe Miami Beach Improvement Company, founded by John Collins, platted the Oceanfront Subdivision on a two mile isthmus. The Company named the area Miami Beach. In the 1920's during Florida's land boom years, many hotels and mansions were built. The 1930's and 40's were the height of the art deco design movement inspired by Paris and many of the hotels were built in this style. Today the Collins Waterfront Architectural Historic District includes 110 buildings and structures near Collins Avenue. The earliest dates to 1922 and the majority were built in the late 1940's, 1950's and 1960's. Architectural styles include moderne, Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival architecture, and the local Miami Modern style called MiMo, a type of mid century modernism architecture style that developed after WWII from the 1940's to the 1960's. Its hallmark is modern simplicity of form influenced by South Florida. Many of the buildings in this district are large resort hotels. The district is defined by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and 24th Street, Indian Creek Drive, Pine Tree Drive, and the Collins Canal. By the 1970's Miami Beach was run down by neglect and salt water damage. Things were so bad that the movie Scarface used to South Beach to stand in for a drug infested ghetto neighborhood. Barbara Baer Capitman and a group of activists banded together to preserve the Art Deco buildings of South Beach. Capitman founded the Miami Design Preservation League in 1976 with Leonard Horowitz which started a movement to place one square mile of South Beach on the National Register of Historic Places. Their efforts enabled 800 of the historic Art Deco buildings to be saved. Formerly run down hotels on Ocean Drive were refreshed in pastel colors chosen by Horowitz. In the late 1980's South Beach had a resurgence. Models and the fashion industry moved in. An area that once had people thinking twice about driving through became home to the wealthy. Today it is walking friendly and generally low crime. One of my favorite things about Miami Beach is the Miami Beach Boardwalk, a paved pathway that runs for seven miles, the length of Miami Beach. It begins at 87th terrace and Collins Ave at the border of Surfside and takes you south through North Beach, Mid Beach, and ending at the Ocean Drive Promenade in South Beach in South Pointe Park. Along the boardwalk are parks, hotels, condos, and restaurants. On one side you have a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean and on the other, a front row seat to the hustle and bustle of Miami Beach. For the convenience of those traveling the boardwalk there are benches and water stations. You also often see people setting up tents and selling things like jewelry. While the historic buildings and boardwalk are important draws for the area, the crown jewel of Miami Beach is the beach itself. Wide white sand beaches meet the clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean beckoning sun worshippers, waders, and swimmers. There are many beach front parks offering amenities like lifeguards, restrooms, and volleyball courts, fitness equipment showers, and playgrounds. Pay parking is available in area lots and along the street via kiosks and apps.

Most of the high rise condos are owned by international tourists and the rent for the little guy is sky high. We had an interesting encounter by a vagrant at a coffee shop which tainted my evening and did not feel safe walking around the city, although, I did see plenty of police in the area near the major interesctions. An historically rich environment for tourists but not for me.

You can also take the orange line to get to the airport. It also has a transfer at the Tri-Rail station where you can opt to go all the way to West Palm beach. This particular station has connecting bus routes to downtown and connects to the 595 express that takes you all the way to Sunrise in Broward County. Additionally if you are going to Marlins park and you don't want to get stuck in traffic and avoid 20+ dollar parking this is a great solution. You can park your car at any Metro-Rail station and get an all day pass and come to this station and the marlins shuttle (the 55 bus) will take you to and from the Stadium. They have shuttles running from the Stadium to the Culmer Metro-Rail station from prior to the game up to 2 hours after the last pitch. Also pointing out that riding public transportation is great for the enviroment and helps decongest highways. Great work Miami-Dade Transit!

Someone could certainly get a killing of FTRs by adding and reviewing the 21 stations. The Metromover is a free transportation network and the Tenth Street/Promenade Station is on the Brickell Loop. The preceding station is Brickell (towards the Financial District) and the next station is Brickell City Centre (towards Downtown). Nearby this station are Brickell City Centre and the 1101 Brickell Building and 1010 Brickell and the Brickell Federal Building. The station is handicapped accessible with stairs and an elevator from street level to the elevated platform. The platform is an island with two tracks, so the doors will open on the left. Look for signs that will guide and direct you to the Mia Mover Shuttle The Mia Mover is only one stop away from the airport. It's a nice short ride and the view is picturesque. Every one needs to get off and then figure which terminal and proceed from there.

I still think a bad review is warranted because Miami International Airport is the worst designed airport in the country and certainly the worst I have ever been to. To even get to the MIA mover you have to walk ALOT. What would make it better would be if the moving walkways... would work... but of course they were not. So I walked a heck of a lot, to then be transported by this shuttle, and then walk even more till I got to the rent a car place. My mother is elderly and needs wheelchair assistance to get from one part of the airport to another. Unfortunately, wheelchair assistance will not take her in through here. We had to leave her with some of the bags as we navigated our way to the rental car place, so that we can then drive to pick her up and the bags. I swear I had a headache by the end of this experience... which only got worse when I got to the rental car center. Seriously? Who thought this was a good idea? Who designed this airport? What fool thought this was a good idea!?!?! At the very least the train was working, I cannot imagine how pissed off someone would be if they walked all the way to the mover only to find it was not in operation.
