Ah, Briteline Station. A yellow explosion of everything you didn't ask for in a travel hub. Aesthetically, it's like a lemon threw up and said, "NEON." It's a lot to handle, honestly. If airports are elegant chaos, Brightline is... well, a well-intentioned chaos with a touch too much flair. The smell? Oh boy. I don't know if they're going for "fresh" or "citrusy," but it hits you like a scent bomb that's somehow both overwhelming and... confusing? I'm not sure whether I'm in a train station or a high-end cleaning product store. Bathrooms? Peak. They were actually the highlight--clean, functional, and definitely the only place where I felt my dignity was intact. But when you have to do your business on a train with moving bathrooms, it adds a level of adventure I didn't ask for. The whole "swaying while you use the necessary " thing is a unique thrill, though. The store? Closed early the morning Now, let's talk about the train itself--big, comfy, and pretty solid for a ride. The seats are spacious, and the vibe is more "luxurious commuter" than "who's-holding-my-seat" chaos. Would I return? Well, I guess. Since my best friend is continuing her work, I am taking Brightline back home. I purchased the premium seat for the lounge and better sized seating. The lounge area had some light items for breakfast and I took advantage of it since we did not have breakfast at the hotel. The hashbrown was a bit limp and there was not syrup for the waffle pieces or French toast so that was a bit off. The coffee/tea machine prepared my Chai latte pretty well. They announced the boarding and the premium grouping was able to get on first. It was quick and easy to get my seating and my bag up for the ride back home. The service has been lovely so far, an hour in. We are being served snacks and drinks from the hostess which I believe is named Jenny and she is very friendly yet professional. I am happy that the Premium was worth the extra bit for the super comfy seating and add-ons. My lunch was quite tasty with a good amount of chicken, farro and Mexican pasta salad. The premium lounge at Miami's Brightline station is well worth it when the premium ticket is not much more than the standard ticket. I only paid $32 more than standard and was able to enjoy a super comfortable seat along with breakfast, specialty coffee, and Savignon Blanc prior to my train. I didn't end up having to check a bag, but the first checked bag is free with a premium ticket. When you're on the train in premium, you get snacks and a meal when traveling between Miami and Orlando. It also includes a couple alcoholic beverages and all you can drink non-alcoholic beverages. read more

I used the Brightline for the first time to go from Orlando to Miami for a small vacation. This was so much easier than driving! The train is a straight shot down that took a little less than 3 hours. The station is pretty big! When we got there, most of the cafes were closed or under renovations. I was able to easily navigate to this Brightline station via Lyft. I was dropped off at the front door, and you take an escalator ride up, and you are at the station (similar to Orlando). Again, the security was easy to get through and moved fast. This station was fuller than the Orlando station, but I was still able to find a cozy bench to wait until boarding. There is a bar to order drinks at. The bathrooms were very clean. Water bottle fill stations are available. The TV screens provide a listing of all the departing trains, which makes it easy to stay informed and be prepared to board. Announcements are made over the speaker when to board. This is a quick process, so be ready and move to your cart swiftly. I appreciate that there are assigned seats on the Brightline. I like knowing where I am going and picking a seat in the direction the train is moving. Service on the train is quick and easy to order via QR codes. This is my go-to spot to park if going to a Miami Heat game. It's about a 10 minute walk through downtown but worth it cuz I'm not fighting for a parking spot. It's a well lit garage, easy to pay. Brightline is a safe area and lots of restaurants open up now so you can get a quick bite in this area too. read more

With the long distances in Florida riding the train can be a real problem-solver, especially when you're riding Brightline. It's a little on the expensive side but you can often find special deals. The first train of the morning and the last one of the day tend to be cheaper than the regular schedule. Overall, it's a very relaxing and comfortable way to travel, and it definitely beats driving long distances. Not giving it all five stars, because even though it's completely worth it, it can be a bit expensive for regular commuters that might want to use the service more often. read more

We booked a same-day round trip from Miami to West Palm Beach with Brightline. The ride there was smooth, comfortable, and easy--check-in was quick, and the staff was helpful. However, the return trip was a different story. We decided to upgrade to premium tickets for the ride back, hoping to enjoy the lounge amenities like beer and snacks while we waited for our train. Unfortunately, the experience didn't meet our expectations. The beer machine in the lounge wasn't working, and the snack selection was disappointing. When we asked the staff at the main bar for assistance, they weren't helpful--and one of the employees was downright dismissive and gave us attitude when we explained the issue. We asked to speak with a manager, who came out, checked the machine, and told us there was nothing she could do to fix it. We then requested a beer from the bar since that was part of the premium experience we paid for. At first, she refused and continued to be unhelpful, but after we explained our frustration and reasoning, she finally agreed. To make matters worse, the train back to Miami was delayed several times. Overall, the return trip left a bad impression. While the ride to West Palm was enjoyable, the premium experience on the way back fell flat and made us question whether we'd choose Brightline again. read more

I've been a frequent and long-time Brightline rider and have used Premium many times, but this experience was extremely disappointing and far below what's advertised. The Premium lounge was in poor condition. Trash cans were overflowing and clearly hadn't been changed, with garbage left sitting out everywhere. Tables were dirty, food debris was scattered throughout the lounge, and the overall space felt neglected rather than relaxing. The food area was ransacked and not replenished. Most trays were empty, with crumbs and scraps left behind, and nothing appeared to be actively restocked. Several food displays were nearly bare, which is unacceptable for a paid Premium product. Even more frustrating, there was no wine or beer available, despite this being clearly advertised as part of the Premium experience. What stood out the most was that there was not a single staff member present managing or maintaining the lounge during my visit. No one was cleaning, restocking, or checking on guests, which explains the condition the lounge was left in. At this price point, Premium simply does not make sense when the lounge is dirty, amenities are missing, and there is no staff oversight. As someone who has supported Brightline for years, this was a major letdown. Unless there is a significant improvement in upkeep and service, I won't be using Premium again. read more

Better than ANY Amtrak. If you build it they will come. You can go to Orlando, west palm beach , Fort Lauderdale. This is WHY FLORIDA IS BOOMING!!!! Any questions or other STATE that has a nice rail not all vandalized with graffiti zipping through neighborhoods doing 85. VERY SAFE(r) than the air we took to get here. 2 hours tarmac, 1 hr flight. . Did a "touch and go" because the plane was rocking so bad, the pilot landed and took off again! Had to fly around for 30 minutes for the pilots to switch responsibility. Those spirit pilots would fly right into a B-2 midair! read more

5 Stars for a great train station that is in a convenient location. I recently took the train to Miami from Orlando and back and I had a great experience. In particular, the Miami station is MUCH better situated than the Orlando one (in a popular area versus the airport). I was easily able to get an uber and if I wanted to, I could've walked from the station to some fun spots. The train itself was incredibly clean and new and had strong wifi. The wifi was strong enough for me to be on multiple zoom calls for work (I wore headphones, I'm not a monster), and work the whole way down. I didn't end up getting food or drink on the train, but they have this available. They also have options to buy VIP tickets that include F&B. One pro-tip is to get on the email list to wait for discounts as they come up fairly often! read more

Honestly the worst terminal I have been through on my brightline adventures. It is the last stop, so if anything happens along the route, you kinda don't have any other choice. Which brings me to my rating for this station. Hubby and I were coming back from South Florida, heading to Orlando after a small weekend trip. Our train was delayed, which happens, but the customer service is what really angers me. It was absolutely non existent. Especially if you purchased a ticket that didn't allow any modifications. Which I totally get, but how they treated us was really what makes me never want to use Brightline again. After the second hour of waiting without info and them turning off the screens, a few of us finally went downstairs to ask what was going on. They yelled at us and said when they had an update, we would know, and if we didn't stay upstairs and wait, we would not be able to get on our train. You can kind of guess how I took it. I told the person that they needed to learn how to talk to people. And as paying customers it was our right to know SOMETHING as we had been waiting more than 2 hours, when most of us would already be home during that time period. They finally advised that the train would be another hour late (3 hours at this point), and that if we wanted a refund to stand in one line, and if we wanted to be placed on the later train, to form another line. Which is insane to me, because why wouldn't they just move us to the later train? Their reasoning? "the system will not allow you to board with an earlier ticket for a later train". Even if the original ticket hasn't been used? Literally makes zero sense. We requested to be moved to the later train (which would have us arriving back in Orlando close to 2am). Imagine my surprise when they put myself and my hubby in different seats away from each other. The reasoning? We had purchased a different tier, which means they can put us wherever (even though the original seats were right next to each other). We were able to ask some folks to swap seats with us, and made it home. No apologies from anyone for how they treated almost 75 of us, but they lost me as a customer, so oh well. read more

A great day at the beach ended with a great train ride back. Came in a little early to get drinks at the bar. Really wanted something to eat but not anything like a full meal. The bartender took our order, two marlin mules. She was a little sketchy on the ingredients and put it in a glass when they had mules mugs.. but it tasted ok. What a terrific new addition to interstate transportation from Miami to stops upstate! For a newer establishment, they are surprisingly well run, clean & very few "kinks"! Waaaaay better than airlines, safe easy screening and no lost luggage issues! Firstly, The lobby to wait in is comfortable with a shop for incidentals & snacks/drinks. Expect Airport pricing, so plan ahead if possible. Secondly, staff we have encountered have been very helpful and easy to work with. What a refreshing change from a long stressful drive or flying. The different price points are good for budget friendly travelers or those needing more accommodations. It is easy to work with charging outlets and a pullout tray table. They do come by selling a limited menu of overpriced refreshments, drinks & snacks if you are so inclined. We brought our own, but still nice for options if you're stuck. In addition, We brought our service animal, no problem. Trains we have taken have run on time, no delays. Expert tip--Get on the email list for great discounts! Posting to hopefully help shed some insight on the Brightline train, with kids, from South Florida to Orlando. We booked coach seats. If you book early you can get great rates too. Booking the brightline was easy. In fact, the entire process was swift. Our train was scheduled to depart at 12:50. It departed promptly at 12:50 (we arrived at 12:30 to the station and even though I thought I needed to rush, it was plenty of time). We each had a small carry on rolling bag, and a back pack each, a stroller, and a carseat (because we'd be Ubering on the other end). The stroller and carseat did not count against our allotment. You're allowed 2 carryon and 1 personal item each. When arriving at the station, we simply scanned our tickets and went through the electronic gate, then we put our bags in an xray machine and walked through the metal detectors. The stroller strolled right through with my child in it (disney style). There was no hassle. The entire process took less than 10 minutes. After all this, we were standing in a lounge area, and when our train was ready, they announced it (10 minutes prior to departure). It announced what track it would be on, and we hopped on board. They also had elevators to get to the platform in case your have a stroller or wheelchair. The train was clean, neat, and the bathrooms were spacious and clean as well. I want to say the bathroom was large enough to be wheelchair accessible and there was also a diaper changing station that comes down from the wall. Lots of space that I was able to comfortably bring my two kids in there with me. They have food and beverage service, but I had packed an entire cooler backpack with sandwiches and drinks and snacks. You can pretty much bring anything you want to eat and drink. If you're a family of 3 or 4 I highly recommend getting the seats that show up as a compartment because even though it's not a private compartment it's basically 4 seats that face each other with a table in the middle and makes a great table for sharing meals or playing games. The entire ride was quiet and everyone is encouraged to talk quietly and have headphones. If you need to make a call there's a little hallway compartment between cars (by the restrooms where you can make a phone call). There's plenty of outlets at your seat with 2 outlets and 2 USB between each seat, and if you have a table, there's also more outlets and USB ports on that too. We only had carry on luggage and we basically put it overhead. There's also extra space near the ends of each car. The train ride was comfortable, and overall a smooth ride. We briefly stopped at Aventura, Ft Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, and West Palm Beach. Each stop was not long enough to step out (maybe 2 minutes each). Once we hit West Palm Beach it was a straight shot to Orlando. When you arrive at the Orlando station you can take an Uber or Lyft to the resorts or if you plan it ahead you can schedule MEARS connects brightline and they have their prices on their site. If my memory serves me it would've been close to about $60 for us to get to the resorts through MEARS since our 3 yr old would've been free but we opted for UBER so that we could be on our own time. Overall, the only stressful parts were having to meet a schedule and make it to the train station on time and keeping our kids quiet enough that they wouldnt disturb others. Everything else was a breeze. We arrived promptly as scheduled. I will say, it is more cost effective to drive (as a family) but if its 2 people or less it can be cost effective when you factor gas and sunpass tolls. Also adding, if you need to modify your train In our case, we missed our first train on a different trip and it was very easy to modify and grab another train (as long as you do it 10 min prior to departure of your original ticket. read more

What an ABSOLUTE mess this place is when things aren't running "smoothly". The Station Manager Juan mocked my disability needs and questioned where my wheelchair is(I have needs that do not require one). The train I was scheduled to leave on was canceled due to an accident at the next station up in Aventura(where I later researched online that the train ran someone over). We had been sitting on the train and then told to get off the train as they were combining 2 trains and had to reassign everyone's seats. Getting off the train was chaotic. I took the elevator down and was stuck behind stations. Juan couldn't tell me or anyone if they were actually able to fit us all onto the next train and had even told me I might have to wait until 12pm or 3pm(my train was a 10am). He kept walking away saying he had 200 other people to help, told me if I wanted to sit on the floor(why would I want to do that?) I could, and then told several of us we had to go downstairs as there were too many people in the lobby and that our tickets should work just fine at security(spoiler alert they did NOT). They started to hand out snacks to about 10 of the 400 people and then stopped. We boarded around 11am only to find that they never actually reassigned any seats and multiple people were booked in the same seats all over the train. Juan was hiding the whole time and the poor train staff was just being torn new ones by rude passengers. Juan definitely cracked under pressure and I saw him CHASTISE the staff instead of help them because he appeared from an office 5 min before the train actually left closer to 1130am. NO ONE had any information and couldn't figure it out. The train staff finally said it's open seating(which some people took as a way to give themselves a free upgrade). Some people already got a refund before they got off the train. I reached out to customer service via their website and told them my concerns from the previous day of travel(where a passenger grabbed me by both shoulders and shook me violently awake because he wanted to sit next to me). I was chastised by Juan(when I told him this earlier) for not getting someone right away when it happened, even though the man wouldnt let me out of my seat. He also told me Brightline is not responsible for passenger behavior. That is TERRIFYING. Brightline customer service is nearly worse. Several of us from the train have kept in touch today and some have received compensation and others of us have not. Make sure you prepare yourself for utter chaos and frustration and disappointment if you take the Brightline from Miami. Kudos to Jesenia and the train team for keeping their cool and making sure passengers were okay. Shame on Juan for not being present and his lack of professionalism. It took 7 hours for me to get home from Miami when it's usually 3.5. read more

The whole point of rail travel is sticking to a reliable schedule -- this completely missed the mark. AC was also uncomfortably cold. Love the Miami station! It's right in downtown so I was able to walk to all the places I had to attend!! It's so central wow what a blessing! I was done in a good hour and back at the station to take the train back home. It I had to drive and endure traffic especially with the rain today just to be here for an hour I'd have been so miserable but nope, so happy I can relax, use the free wifi and not drive back to Orlando. The lounge is so nice with soft seats and little desk tables you can move around for your use. There is a clean fresh lemon scent everywhere and everything is modern, cleaned up. Several bars and stores for shopping while you wait like an airport terminal has them. Boarding was easy and I was actually the very first to board when they opened the entrance to the train platform! This time I had a seat part of 4 with a middle table which also extends. Brightline Miami Central Station is located in Overtown. There is actually quite a bit of history associated with this train station. Miami Central was originally a railway station that opened on April 15, 1896 in order to service the southern end of Henry Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway. In 1912 a wooden station was built at the site of what would become the Dade County Courthouse. The City Of Miami wanted to get the trains out of downtown and the station closed on January 23, 1963. Construction of a new 9 acre Miami Central began in 2014. On May 19, 2018 the station reopened. Today it services the Brightline train and helps connect passengers to intercity travel like the Metromover. Tri-Rail service will soon be added. The station is a mixed-use complex comprising of 3 million square feet of residential, office, commercial, and retail development. The first floor has a Joe the Juice which serves smoothies, tea, coffee, and light bites. The second floor has the Citizens Miami food hall, a lounge, and train service. The station is clean and bright. The bathrooms were spotless with Dyson hand dryers. It looks like no expense was spared.
