The food was ok. But when we went to get the check (a couple, and our friend plus her two young children), the waiter said the check was together, but he could split at the register. The check was literally a column of numbers - no description of anything to assist with figuring it out. While at the register I pulled out a menu to help identify what was mine and my husband's vs our friend and our kids, to make it easier; also to find the exact name of what I had ordered. He then - and immediately - got very defensive that I did so and took it as an accusation that the bill was incorrect. Which is not why I did it - I was trying to be helpful. I told him I didn't doubt that but was used to seeing an itemized check. He continued to act very put out through the rest of the process. I should also note that the food was auctioned off when brought to the table, so it obviously wasn't clear who had ordered what; I worked in the industry for years and that's not the norm in my existence. Lose the chip on your shoulder, man. I can't believe no has been a little unsure of your ass-backward accounting system before me. We're from Chicago and whenever we're in town and want Mexican, we go to Mi Tierra. The food is consistently delicious, and the menu is really extensive so you can try something different each visit. Even the vegetarian selection is much better than just about any other Mexican restaurant I've been to. Last time we went there it was pretty late and we were there about 15 minutes past closing time, but the staff was super friendly and never made us feel rushed. We will DEFINITELY keep going back to Mi Tierra. :D read more

This place is next to Wal-Mart in Ft. Wright. It's where Noble Roman's was previously. I've heard good things about this place and I guess my expectations were too high. It was okay. The salsa was so bad however, that I thought it was a sick joke. I was waiting for them to bring out the real salsa. I'm guessing it was from a can or jar. Nothing fresh about it at all. I ordered the carnitas and it was easily 60% fat. The wait staff was very friendly and on top of everything. In fact, my pop got topped off after every sip. The pejorative use of the term "strip mall Mexican restaurant" is ill fitting as some of the best spots in the region happen to be located in them. In fact, the truly authentic ones, for which most non-Mexicans would not really like, happen to be located behind gas stations and in Tiendas. Mi Tierra is a decent Mexican spot but has a few more qualities to note. I ordered the green verde enchilada and my wife the mole enchilada. The good was very fresh, the service crisp, the restaurant bright and clean. We had no trouble with the waiters as some of these other reviewers griped about, they speak English well. In fact, if you can't communicate with someone who speaks a different language using gestures or pointing, you should consider getting out of the house more often. read more

Service was unimpressive. We waited at the door to place an order to go. Someone finally came to the desk and we asked to place an order. He walked away and a few minutes later another guy came over and finally took our order. Said it would be 30 minutes because they were busy. We decided to have a beverage at the bar while waiting. The bar stools were covered in caution tape (assumabley due to covid) but there were a few tables, most of which were dirty. Took several minutes to get anyone to wait on us again. The food was probably the worst Mexican food I've ever had. The sauce was disgusting, the food was dry. I'm from California and lived in San Diego to boot so maybe I'm a little picky about Mexican food. I would still not rate this place on par with a lot of the common taquerias I have had but for the greater Cincinnati area it is one of the best I've had. Their salsa actually tastes like it's made there and doesn't have the odd 'sweetness' that makes me suspect sugar has been added. The nachos could REALLY be improved by adding some of the common toppings you find on nachos like pico de gallo, beans, lettuce, sour cream. If you order carne asada nachos, you will get: tortilla chips, carne asada, and cheese - that's it. The platters are a much better deal and I would suggest getting a burrito. Everything comes with a cheese sauce though (which is OK if you're into that) and I would suggest telling them to put it on the side. It's the same stuff you get on your nachos so . . . you know, you could dip your chips in there and bam, you got nachos. Otherwise, a good deal, pretty good food. I rate a lot of Mexican places on their beans and rice and both are pretty tasty at this place. read more

This is a popular place for my coworkers to meet up after work for drinks and dinner. I wasn't crazy about it on my first visit, but it has really started to grow on me. It's still not my favorite Mexican restaurant in the world, but it's not terrible. The food is okay, standard American-Mexican fare. Their salsa, though, is phenomenal. It's fresh, spicy, and full of cilantro. I've been trying to watch carbs lately, so last time I went I asked for a plate of fajita vegetables as a substitute for the rice and beans that come on the side. I was prepared to spend extra and receive a little plate of peppers -- but they gave me a huge plate of beautifully charred peppers, onions, and tomatoes, which was awesome! The salsa is delicious and served in a large container with individual bowls for each patron (no worries about double dipping!). The chips are always warm. I reluctantly went to this restaurant with my friend who loves this place. We sat at the bar and proceeded to order Queso which was delicious as well as the warm chips and fresh salsa. I was told I must order the Shrimp Cocktail dish which I didn't think I would love nor did I think it would be filling, so I went ahead and ordered a quesadilla with Mushroom, spinach and onion as a back up. The quesadilla is HUGE and piping hot. I loved all three bites when my shrimp arrived. I don't even know what to say. It is absolutely incredible. This giant glass mug is filled with a juice that if you added vodka would be the best Bloody Mary ever made. Its tomato and cilantro, onion with a sweetness of Clam juice, and a freshness of lime. I am not sure what all is in it but its pack full of flavor and packed full of shrimp and chunks of avocado. I am forever grateful for my friend Ken introducing me to this amazing dish. For dessert we had Flan and it was freshly Homemade with this amazing caramel wading around this island of custard. Everything about this place was bright. The decor and the staff but especially the food. My wife and I ordered to two chicken dishes - chicken with chorizo and chicken Cancun. Both tasted bright and fresh as did the chips and salsa. I did not expect this for a place tucked into a strip mal behind a Wal-mart. Nice. The only issue we had was a language problem. I considered it a bad sign that the daily special on the whiteboard when you first walk in was misspelled Carne "Azada", but the carafe of fresh, delicious salsa on the table quelled any doubts about the authenticity of the place. However, the chips weren't warm at all and the waiter brought me a giant mug of Dos Equis Amber after I ordered the Lager (think that was a language misunderstanding, not just bad service though). I ordered Enchiladas Verdes with Chicken and since they only came with rice, added a side of refried beans. I would have been full without them, so unless you have to have them, the side of Mexican rice is plenty. The chicken was high quality and the Verde sauce was flavorful without too much heat. Nothing wow about any of it, but nothing disappointing either. They were pretty busy when we were there on a Friday evening, so service was a bit scattered, but still fairly efficient. read more

This place is amazing. I've been there twice, and it's by far the fastest restaurant I've ever been to. Both times I went, I had my food within five minutes of ordering. The service was incredible. One of the things I love most, is that the salsa is brought out in a large jar, that way you can pour it yourself without having to ask for more. Genius! The food is really good, and reasonably priced. Also, they now have a punch card which makes it an even better deal. You go there eight times, and get the ninth meal free. Well, I had heard good things about this place, and since I live nearby decided to try it. Meh. The cheese dip was a bit runny, the tortilla chips tasted a little stale, unlike other Mexican restaurants where they are served warm and crispy. My friend had the Carnitas which were very tender, but the sides (rice and beans) were very bland and not unique. I had a combo platter (Quesadilla, Chili Relano, and Burrito) and none of them were very seasoned or spicy. Since it was all smothered in the same red sauce, everything tasted the same. The wait staff was quick and attentive, although my friend received his entree a good 5 minutes before me. So it was strange to just sit there and watch him eat, and while the plates were hot, my burrito was close to cold. All in all, pretty average and when you consider there are a lot of better Mexican restaurants now in the area (Acapulco, Three Amigos, Montoya's) I don't think I will be returning anytime soon. read more

When it comes to Mexican food, we've all been to about 20 places that seem to be carbon-copies of one another. However, of these "generic" Mexican destinations, I feel that Mi Tierra is a step above. The food is excellent and the severs are friendly. I recommend the Burrito Mi Tierra - a LARGE flower tortilla filled with grilled peppers and onions and your choice of chicken or steak (I recommend asking for both). This was my second visit to Mi Tierra. The food both times was good. It is a wholesome family atmosphere - lots of kids, and a kid-friendly menu. Service is OK - a little slow but if you're there with a group, it is less of an issue. I like that your salsa comes in a carafe - poor as much or little as you like. Chips are OK - not as tasty as say Don Pablo - but not dripping with oil like Don Pablo. It was very clean and all workers were friendly. It appears to be family-run and everyone working there appears to be Hispanic. I like this aspect, the American dream, etc., etc. and sincerely hope that they are successful! A negative is there is only a single 1-seater bathroom. If the place is full, and there are a lot of kids, this could be a problem. We will go back. read more

I have a nack for strip mall Mexican but this was a great find for northern Kentucky. Service was mediocre while the food was above average. for just $11 my boyfriend and I split a pollo mariachi (chicken, peppers, onions, mushrooms covered in queso) which was served with rice beans and tortillas. Went today and will never be back. I've been coming out of my way from about 30 minutes away (and also brining friends with me, bringing in business) just because I enjoyed the food that much. I went in for lunch today and dined with a friend. We were seated and brought chips and our drinks rather quickly. We were asked about 2 minutes after sitting down if we were ready to order, which of course we weren't, we had just sat down. The server rudely walked away when we said we weren't ready yet, and didn't return for about 10-15 minutes. There were a few larger tables, and the servers seemed busy, but this was a bit long. The real kicker begins when my food comes out. I ordered a carne asada burrito aka steak burrito that comes with sautéed onions inside, cheese sauce on top. I bit into a rock hard piece of steak after two bites, spit it out because EW! Decided to keep trying and bit into ANOTHER. Now I understand steak can be tough, but two pieces in a row was starting to get annoying, and in a burrito though? You'd think they'd cut the fat off before putting the meat in the burrito. Anyways, after two rock hard pieces that made me want to gag, I quit eating it. I ate the rice that came on the side and decided to ask the server if I could get something different. Well it took her 15 minutes to even come to our table, but when she did, I explained that I could not chew the steak and that it was not palatable. She literally said "Why? That's how our steak is". I explained that I couldnt eat that and asked if I could have something else. She got an attitude and said that she would ask. Goes to the counter and speaks with the manager, comes back and tells me to ask him. WTF. shouldn't the manager come to my table and ask me what he can do to make it better? Nope. I sat and waited and he never came to the table. She came once more and gave us our checks. When it was time to pay, I explained to the manager that my food was not good and had asked for something different. He told me I should had asked the server sooner. We explained we hadn't seen the server until 15 minutes after our meal came out. He told me he could give me a discount. By some miracle, I was able to complain enough that he finally took it off, but was pissed about it. Terrible terrible terrible customer service. I served for SIX years so it was hard for me to even complain because I know how it is. I could never imagine speaking to a customer like that. Don't give this place your business. read more

I've been here a couple times and loved the food, so tonight my boyfriend and I decided to order through doordash. When our food was delivered, we realized we received someone else's order. I called the restaurant and they said I could bring the wrong order in. So I'm already annoyed that I have to go there (defeats the whole purpose of using a food delivery app) but I figured they would give us our correct order and we'd be on our way. Nope. We walk in and see a bagged order on the front desk assuming it's ours so I tell the guy that I just called and explained the situation. We even asked what was in the bag and it WAS in fact our order. So he looks through his receipts and because he didn't find the receipt (doordasher didn't buy the right order) he says we can get the food if we pay the difference. I literally logged into my bank app and showed where $61 came out of my account and our food was sitting RIGHT THERE. But because he didn't get the money for it, he wouldn't give it to us and said since it was through an app he "had nothing to do with it" so at this point I'm laughing at the stupidity. It's his food from his restaurant! Sure the driver may have messed up, but I'm the paying customer! I paid for my order, drove to the restaurant, and I was still asked to pay more?? I'm mind blown at the terrible customer service!!! I even asked "so what are you going to do with my order right there? Throw it away?" His response was "I'm not dealing with this." Horrible most atrocious service I have ever experienced. The place was extremely rude we asked for 10 seats they gave us 8 and told us "sometimes they don't show up" when 10 of us were standing right there. They didn't refill any of our drinks once- they ignored every request we had - no more chips or anything. They did nothing - the food took forever and by the time it came out to us it was lukewarm. Told my waitress my drinking glass tasted like bleach. She didn't respond like she heard me, so I said something to the manager. The manager came to my table and yelled at me for telling my waitress and him about my glass (instead of apologizing). They were real a** holes. Go there very often (few times a month). I told him how awful and rude he was to all of us at out table, and all he had to say was "OK" with a big nasty smirk on his face!!! No. No. No. We stood at the door waiting for someone to show up to seat us. The restaurant was clean, but nearly empty with only one table occupied. The salsa was horrible. Halfway down the basket, the chips were over cooked. The onions and green peppers in the fajita skillet were way overcooked. There was 2 pieces of overcooked tomatoes on the skillet. No other veggies in what was supposed to be veggie fajitas. They served us margaritas in tall beer glasses. My friend's didn't taste right, so she didn't drink it. At the end of the meal (after dessert), she asked for the margarita to be taken off her bill. She was told if she had asked earlier they would have, but it's too late. He said it had been on the table 40 minutes...like it had been on the table too long. The glass was still full. I had a headache from the cheap tequila and a stomachache when I got home. The service was awful even though there were only patrons at 3 tables. We had to look for the waiter twice and the table across from us was yelling out and whistling for the waiter. I was the odd ball that ordered a different flavor, and when they arrived at the table, the gave me my flavor and everyone got theirs. But then, apparently I received strawberry and my real one was given to someone else. When the person tried my actual daiquiri, it tasted awful, somewhat like watered down alcohol and no flavor. When we asked the waiter about making a new one, he said "it's not my problem" and didn't make a new one. That is NOT how you treat customers. We were not impressed one bit. This place was a big disappointment. I read all the hype here, and decided I wanted to try it out. My food wasn't worth the money. Portion sizes were smaller than most places I've been, and the prices were higher. I got the fajita quesadilla and it was just bland, and tasted like it lacked seasoning. Service was horrible, we never were offered a refill.. and that is unacceptable. It was slow, so the guys were all goofing off on their phones by the bathrooms.
