They have made up for it with great food and great service. Always a cool place inside and out.

Servers have NO idea what happy hour specials are going on. Quote wrong prices then present you with full price bill. Take zero responsibility for mistakes and then argue with you! Our server threatened to call the police. Unbelievable, this is a absentee owner and the animals are running the circus. Just read the reviews.

We got the crazy fries and they were yummy!!

Really good food at a reasonable price. My hubby LOVES to come here and eat, since it's so close to our house and the man is a Mexican food fiend. The staff is also very nice and friendly. We come here periodically to eat, so my hubby can get his Mexican food fix. This is the "real thing" and NOT Taco Bell! If you want a "mom and pop" type place to eat sometime, here's a good place to eat for that -- they are ran by a family and I don't think that they're a chain.

Chicken chimichanga, sorry couldn't wait lol

I've eaten here twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times my experience was very good. The wait staff is very nice and they make sure you have everything very quick. My daughter loves the piñatas all over the ceiling! I am a chimichanga addict so I usually always order them. I usually only get chicken but my friend got beef so I tried it and loved it. So great news- no matter what chimichanga you get it's going to be delicious. This place is also very inexpensive! For lunch my total with tip was $10.60 and dinner for two people plus drinks it was $32 with tip. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because of the location. It is set way off of 27 next to White Castle, just takes away from the restaurant itself. But I highly recommend going to this place for dinner or lunch, quick service and very reasonable prices.

The personnel and staff here are super friendly & helpful. Very attentive to our needs although it was a slow period of the day. We went on a Thursday afternoon between lunch and dinner hour. Took advantage of a coupon we had for Happy hour which started at 3 pm. And the Margarita special of $3.99 was from 3-6 pm. This Strawberry Margarita was amazingly concocted. The tequila was smooth and abundantly added to this cocktail. Very yummy taste. The food was steaming hot and really well prepared. I asked for my fajitas without bell pepper and they accommodated that request easily. I was happy to know they also carry the Coke Zero that I love. The only negative comments I could add would be suggest they give you more beans and guacamole. Barely enough to add to the 3 fajitas I made. There was however tons of meat ( enough to fill 5+ of their 6" tortillas. Also the tortilla chips they serve at the beginning are nothing to write home about. They were crisp but lacked flavor and salt. Not freshly made. Salsa very good. Not too hot. The overall dining area is very culturally decorated and they play Mexican music (a little too loud) as well as TVs on the walls. We will get back.

Got the burrito, enchiladas, and T-Bone with shrimp, all of it was so salty we couldn't even finish. Steak was significantly over cooked.

Update: the store did address and take care of my concerns…read more I visited Pepper's on June 9th and had one of the most awful experiences I have had at a restaurant. Upon arrival, I ordered a half frozen and half soft serve strawberry margarita. The server brought out a strawberry and mango soft serve margarita and I let him know that this is not at all what I wanted and repeated my original order. He told me that they were not able to make my request. This is not true as I had JUST received that 2 days prior. I was very impressed with Pepper's the few days before when I had visited and came back so quickly to have the same experience, which was not at all what happened. He did not offer to ask anyone else if this is something that they could do (WHICH THEY HAD JUST DONE 2 DAYS PRIOR) and just repeated that they could not do that. The restaurant closed at 10pm and my husband and I were still chatting at 9:54 pm when we were approached and ASKED TO LEAVE so he could clean the table. I have been a server in the past and have NEVER worked in a restaurant so disrespectful and rude. Every place I have ever worked at operates under the "If there are people still sitting here, we wait for them to leave to lock the doors" premise. Being asked to leave so he could cash out was entirely disappointing, completely unprofessional, and downright rude especially given that it had NOT EVEN HIT CLOSING TIME. I am glad he asked us to leave, because at this point, that will be the LAST time we are ever asked to leave Pepper's in Highland Heights. Horrible service. Would not recommend. My husband gave the full tip, and the server was lucky because if I had been paying, he would have gotten no tip. AGAIN: this is coming from a prior server that would have NEVER behaved in this way. This server was not even pleasant.

Very disappointing experience at El Cerro…read more Unfortunately, this wasn't just a bad visit. The quality and service have been slipping for a while now, and I've continued coming back hoping things would improve. This visit was the final straw. The problems started before the food even arrived. We were seated in what felt like the loudest and most crowded section of the restaurant, despite there being plenty of open tables elsewhere. I asked if it would be possible to move to a different area and was told someone would check. After waiting quite a while and never hearing anything back, I finally had to ask again. At that point, we were told we could move to one of the open tables, but the interaction felt dismissive, as though we were causing an inconvenience by asking. Unfortunately, the experience only went downhill from there. I ordered the Arroz con Pollo, and when it arrived, it had very little cheese on it (see photo). For a $17 plate, it needs to have at least a fraction of cheese on it that you can see. I asked for cheese on my meal because it did not come out the way it normally does. I was not asking for an extra side order. I was simply asking for the dish to be corrected. When the bill came, I was charged for the additional cheese. I explained that I should not have to pay extra for cheese when my meal had come out with little to none on it in the first place. I even offered to show the photo of the original plate, but that was ignored. Instead, I was told that charging for a bowl of cheese is their standard policy. What frustrated me most was that the server had never even seen the original plate because someone else delivered the food. Yet when I explained that this was not how the dish is normally served, I was told it was normal. As a longtime customer who orders this meal regularly, I can confidently say otherwise. There was no apology and no effort to understand the concern. The issue was never really about the charge itself. It was the attitude and lack of customer service throughout the entire visit. It's disappointing because this used to be one of my favorite local restaurants. Unfortunately, the food, service, and overall experience have steadily declined. After this experience, I don't plan on returning.

I talked him into lunch here and he said he hadn't been in a LONG time, and overall, we were both very impressed. I mean, it was good before, but they've really stepped up their game since my last visit. The inside is still the same, lots of comfortable seating, and a very laid back atmosphere. Their food menu seemed larger than I recall with lots more tasty options. Their libations menu seemed larger too. We started with the classic chips and salsa along with an order of fresh guacamole. Both the salsa and the guac were excellent with a nice jalapeno kick. I couldn't stop eating both and it was tough to choose which I liked more. For our mains, my boss ordered a bowl of Azteca soup and two chicken tamales, and I ordered the tacos al pastor. We didn't wait long at all before it was all ready. My boss's soup was HUGE and he really enjoyed it as well as the tamales. My al pastor was some of the best I've had in a while and I liked that they had big chunks of pineapple in it instead of tiny pieces like many places. It also had a nice spicy kick that made my nose run a little. Totally worth it though. I really forgot how good this place is so this lunch was a great reminder. I think I'll be bringing my lady along next time for a meal and some margaritas.
