I've been eating at this Mi Rancho for over 12 years. I've been ordering the same dish of the burrito sabroso that whole time. Ate there last week. Was shocked at the prices but understand that prices of everything have risen. I got my burrito with chicken. It's a very large burrito and I only eat 1/3rd at a time. The first 1/3rd didn't have much chicken. They've added a lot of rice and refried beans inside. Thought ok... Maybe there's more chicken in a different part of the burrito. Nope! This burrito was mainly beans and rice the whole way through. Sabroso no more! So, prices go up and quality goes down and they think we won't notice. Giving 3 stars because the wait staff was good and food came out quickly. read more

Not terrible but if i wanted shrimp brochetas then i would have ordered that dish. The street tacos were very good. Texas burrito was good. Let me start off by saying I am from the Chicagoland area and I'm a HuGE fan of Mexican food. Tex-Mex was/is new to me though. It was strange not being able to order a horchata at a Mexican restaurant. I really loved the fact that everyone at the table is served their own salsa. Oh yea something else I'm not used to...the salsa is warm. I ordered a fajita platter with cauliflower, broccoli, shrimp, chicken, steak and cheese!!! Holy moly was it mouthwatering delicious!! I'm so glad I chose that one. It had an interesting name I can't remember, but it was amazeballs. I had enough for not one meal, but two which is always a bonus in my book. So glad we had lunch here! It was a Sunday afternoon/ early evening and it was pretty empty so service was quick. I'd definitely come back here. read more

No bueno. Absolutely do not understand the 4 star rating. I probably shouldn't complain since the prices were so low but I'm going to. I ordered the $12.99 beef tampiquena plate. The only thing good on the plate was the rice. I was shocked to find the cheese enchilada was stuffed with something that was the consistency and taste of velvetta. The cheese on top of it was equally as processed tasting. The meat was terrible. Tiny, thin, cheap. So disappointed after coming here with yelp 4 star expectations. Service was just ok. Chips tasted like store bought. Salsa mediocre. Only positive is that it seems to be a family run place. Not sure how it's crowded but maybe it is the low prices. I've frequented this location for years on and off. I was finally in the area again and decided to try it out again. When we entered and waited to be seated, the hostess wasn't very inviting. We were seated in the restaurant away from everyone else which was odd. There were numerous tables that were left dirty from the beginning of our visit and were still left that way when it was time to leave. When our waiter came by, he immediately asked us if we were ready to order our food. He didn't even ask for our drink order yet. Our waiter then forgot a drink and then I guess was upset when I reminded him that we had ordered another one. We weren't offered any appetizers (usually at least queso, right?) We gave our order, and our food came out quickly. I'll give them that. The flavor of it all was very subpar as well. It was all bland. Fajitas were tough, beans were bland. No one at our table was offered refills on any of the drinks during our visit. Our waiter literally sat down at the table next to ours and watched us eat, but no refills? We had to ask for our check because he was wrapped up in conversation with another employee. I guess Mi Rancho is now off of our list of restaurants. read more

I've been a patron here for years and never had a bad experience till this visit. we had a party of 6 but asked for 4 checks, the manager insisted the server include gratuity on our checks and charge a fee for using credit cards. Never has this been an issue. When I asked the manager about this he stammered on his words saying they have done this since Covid (not true). We came here on a Saturday night and there was barely any wait so, yay! When you sit down, they I'm automatically serve you chips and salsa. The salsa was warm and quite tasty. We ordered the beef fajita for 2 and the fish tacos. Beef fajita: the portion was huge! My brother and I could not finish the beef. The corn tortilla taste pretty fresh but the flour tortilla was a bit hard already. The beef itself was okay, not super delicious because it was not as tender as I would have liked it to be but no where near inedible. Fish tacos: I didn't try it but the hubby enjoyed it. Food is ok. We stopped in for lunch and noticed a sign saying they pass the credit/debit card fee onto you. So on top of price increases, waitress tip, you have to pay their fee for using a debit card. Umm. When this become standard practice that I am paying for there business cost. Literally they can tax write off a business expense- such as the % cost of debit card fee. But it seems they would rather make cash money and have it un traced. So not worth the cost of the basic food. read more

We tried this place for the first time 6/4 and we arrived about 5:30. Let me just say 4 adults at one little table and the space we had was limited. It went downhill from there. The salsa and green sauce is good but the other food was not good. Starting that the waitress didn't listen to what we wanted and provided the wrong appetizer. I order the combination meal with one cheese and one beef, taco and it comes with rice. I asked for queso and it was terrible. My husband order mixed fajitas and they come out with quesadillas. Then when he did receive the fajitas it was beef only. The other two ordered 3 cheese enchiladas and 3 fajita tacos. An addition to the wrong guacamole we were charged and our teas. It was total $88.72.. if we were going to pay by card it would have been $92 something. They add a 3.9 % fee for credit card charge. Obviously your bookkeeper or CPA doesn't know what they are doing to know you can write that off as an expense. Your establishment is not great to be pushing the cost over to consumers. We have been eating at this Mi Rancho location since they opened and never have a bad experience. We visited Saturday evening around 8pm and the place was packed inside and out. We were promptly seated on the patio (at my request, so I could satisfy the fool in me that still enjoys an after dinner smoke.) I love the new patio enclosure. Very rustic and was quite comfortable even on this chilly night. Also, the tables are a little further apart and it USUALLY is more quiet than inside. Our waiter was there in seconds and asked about drinks. The frozen Margarita's are delicious and they do not short on alcohol. The chips are not too thin, so they do not break when you dip into the yummy red and green salsas. (They are so good I always practically inhale them!) Our meal arrived so fast that we barely got through half of the chips! My favorite was the Brocheta Cameron (Bacon wrapped Shrimp) until tonight! I had the Steak Brocheta which not only gave me 3 Brocheta Shrimp but a 10 oz Fajita Steak smothered in melting Monterrey Jack cheese on a bed of sizzling onions. My husband ordered the Beef Fajitas. Both meals were steaming hot with tender marinated meat and so delicious! The charro beans are very tasty. Their homemade tortillas are delicious all by themselves. The portions are plentiful and we always end up taking some home. Our waiter (Number 6 on the receipt) was wonderful. (I need to get better at remembering names!) His timing was perfect and not intrusive. All of the staff are very attentive. There was a table with over 20 adults and 20 children on the patio. They were obnoxiously loud (adults yelling back and forth over the screaming children) who were running around everywhere - but the staff didn't miss a beat. I noticed the servers and bussers from their tables glancing over at our end to see if anyone needed anything. That is the sign of a good staff. We love Mi Rancho and will always be back for more. read more

I've been wanting to try this popular mini mexican chain and this location was the closest to my house. I was surprised to see how large the inside of this space is and also realized after hearing a screaming group in a side room that they also have banquet rooms. I ordered my standard dish, the beef fajitas and was pleased that they came out on a hot Comal and actually stayed hot for several minutes longer than I'm used to, not sure how they pulled that off. The biggest surprise was seeing Partida tequila on the menu at a place near Tomball of all places. It's hard enough to find that tequila in a big city like Houston, much less a city not really known for their tequila drinking. So, to celebrate the occasion, I ordered a jumbo Margarita on the rocks. Service was fairly attentive here and although my waiter looked at me funny when I asked for the partida margarita, and asked would I like beer with that, I knew he was clueless than Partida was a tequila. The margarita was spot on. The other weird thing about El Rancho is that they don't give you rice with your fajitas...only charro beans. In my 30+ years of eating fajitas all over the US, I was definitely shocked. They really short change you with the side dishes, since they also dont give sour cream or cheese either. The tortillas are the least impressive part of the fajitas, as they are not homemade, but chewy and seem to be similar to ones at many average mexican restaurants across Houston. I left full, but I'm not sure I'm coming back anytime soon. read more

This place was a tad busy , especially since there was only one waiter for the 11 or so filled tables. I must give him props tho. He was handling it all with a smile and great timing. Out meals came out in fabulous time - hot and tender meat! I ordered the #4, a salad with grilled chicken, cheeses, sour cream, guacamole, tomato. My favorite is the El Refu fajitas with extra shrimp, bacon & vegetables. I also love the Del Mar tacos. The house margaritas on the rocks is best. I live in the Cypress area and drive 40 minutes each way just to eat here at least once a week. They need to open a location in Cypress!!! read more

I ordered the beef chimichanga and my bf ordered the El vaquero. And loved all of it! The small highlights that help this place earn their 5 stars: -THE BEANS! The beans with the El vaquero are season with sofrito! My bf is PR so sofrito is a staple in our home and we have missed it with all this moving business. -The rice! I learned to make Mexican rice from my childhood best friend who is still my best friend. His mom would add chunks of carrots and that's what this place does! It brought me back home!
