The lamb chops come with sauteed spinach scalloped potatoes, 4 lamb chop pieces. The most expensive wine is california red, called 8 years in the desert.$100 bottle

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Houston! Everything I have tried on the menu has been delicious. You can really tell they make the food fresh and with the very best ingredients. The salmon salad with the sun-dried tomato dressing is my go to order but honestly you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The atmosphere is chic while being cozy and the wait staff is very attentive. We have used the restaurant for catering before and all of our guests were raving about it for weeks afterwards! Couldn't recommend enough :)

With so many new places in Houston, it's easy to forget about solid old places. I haven't been to Mezza in probably over 10 years and it's been updated since. Nice open space, good sized bar, delicious food with good portions. Only the shrimp in the campechana was a touch overcooked. All the other meats were super tender including the calamari. Lamb rice and falafel made for a tasty lunch the next day. Note they will charge for their hot sauce. Parking is a large shared lot, but many of the spaces are designated or valet from other businesses.

My tastebuds had a party from the beginning to the end! I started with the Seafood Campechana as the appetizer; and it comes with Tortilla chips. I say appetizer, but this dish is huge. I taste every ounce of flavor! It was like a party in my mouth with the combination of lime, jalapeno, pineapple, and small chunks of avocado, and to top it off, the shrimp and crab had their own flavors and spices fused together! Did you all see how big the shrimp were? After the appetizer, I knew I couldn't go wrong with the Pecan-Crusted Salmon, which has a nice favorable crust. Also, the sides are a mushroom risotto with grilled vegetables, making for a great dish with many flavors. For the second dish, my niece went for the Mango Stuffed Chicken, and of course, we shared our plates with each other. It had a very nice crust covering the outside, and it came with a mango buttery sauce to pour on top or inside; we did both. I don't know how they got all the stuffing inside, but I will be getting that next time. We also added two servings of fish tacos, and I must say they were good, too. But let's brag about the service; my nephew is seven, and he's very picky. He eats only eggs and pepperoni pizza! Well, that didn't have either! So the waiter and Chef made a pizza just for him with cheese and grilled shrimp on the side. One more thing: I'm surprised this place isn't charging more for their dishes. They put so much love into each dish, and the service is exceptional.

We first went here around 2000 when we lived around the corner. It was a regular place for a few years until we moved abroad. Then again 2007-2009 it was a mainstay u til we moved abroad again. Now we are back in houston again and not so close but it's a treat. Large great starters, taboulli salad, grilled eggplant , hummus , salads, and tasty mains, some of which are displayed. On a sat night they are crowded and a bit overwhelmed, but they never rush and with the portions you don't rush from starters to main. Friendly owners and wait staff, food is kind of a mix of Mediterranean and new fusion American whatever that means.

We stopped by this spot around 2:30pm and found it surprisingly empty, but I didn't mind much. The space itself is lovely and well-kept. The customer service was just okay--nothing particularly memorable, but it might have been an isolated experience. The food, however, was incredible! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. We decided to visit after seeing Keith Lee's recommendation, and it completely lived up to the hype. We ordered the hummus with pita, mango stuffed chicken, chicken tortilla soup, and chicken shawarma wrap. Every single dish was flavorful and well-prepared. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Houston! Tip: If you're planning to try the mango stuffed chicken, be sure to allow 30 minutes for it to be prepared--it's worth the wait!

Got a roast lamb atop seasoned rice plate and it was quite complex and delicious. Full of flavors, the meat was aromatic and super tender. The dish was topped with almonds, golden raisins, and walnuts for a delightful sweet and savory crunch to the dish. I will 100% come back for this dish.

Absolutely phenomenal. Food was delicious and service was great - the best risotto I've ever tasted. The low-lit, moody atmosphere created an intimate setting that elevated the entire experience. Already planning my return visit.

I used to come to this place all the time in high school, but that was over 15 years ago. Randomly decided to come by again, and it's still great! The free chips they give you when you sit down are addicting. Service was also really nice and quick. The calamari and mixed grill plate were really tasty! The burger was good but just a normal burger.

Sorry we ate most of the chicken before I realized that I needed to share this!

Mango stuffed chicken is absolutely delicious. The sweetness, with crispy skin coated with mango is genius. Most flavored grilled veggies I have ever had! We listened to Leo and his suggestions - he nailed it! He was detailed and excellent.

We stopped by the Grand Lux Café to share lunch with one of my mom's first cousins while we were in town for a family event. When we arrived, the restaurant felt almost empty -- but that's only because the place is huge. In a smaller restaurant, the same number of people would've had the place packed to the gills. The decor immediately caught my attention. It gave me Cheesecake Factory vibes mixed with a touch of European flair. Lots of cement pillars, reliefs up top, and floors that looked like marble (though I'm pretty sure it was tile). Either way, it worked. The space felt grand without feeling cold. The staff was friendly, the service was fast, and the food was delicious -- which is really all you can ask for. This is definitely going on my list of go-to spots when I'm visiting the area again. This place would be perfect for large family gatherings or group meals. On our way out, I noticed a really nice bar area that looked ideal for small group meetups or quick lunch meetings. It felt versatile -- whether you're there to linger or just grab a bite. Now let's talk dessert. Right at the front entrance is a full dessert display where you can buy slices of cakes and pies -- or possibly the whole thing to take home. That part really reminded me of the Cheesecake Factory. And the food portions? Almost obscene. Generous doesn't even fully cover it. Huge plates, bold flavors, and nothing tasted bland. Maybe it's something in the Texas water, or maybe Texans just like their food rich and flavorful -- either way, my California taste buds didn't even need to reach for the salt. I highly recommend this place. If you're in the area, give it a try. And if something isn't quite right, let the staff know -- I get the sense they'll do their best to make it right. Enjoy the food journey.

Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, and our waitress really stood out. What impressed me most was the attention to detail while taking our order. Instead of simply writing everything down, she asked thoughtful questions to make sure our meals were exactly how we wanted them--whether we preferred our bacon extra crispy, if I wanted to substitute my side salad for hash browns, and how I'd like my eggs cooked. Those little touches made the experience feel much more personalized. If you're looking for a brunch cocktail, I highly recommend the Strawberry Martini Mimosa. It was light, refreshing, and the perfect complement to brunch. For food, I absolutely loved the Bravocado Toast. I added bacon and swapped the salad for hash browns, and it was a great choice. My daughter ordered the Classic Breakfast and really enjoyed it as well. Even if pancakes aren't usually your thing (they aren't mine!), don't skip them here. We shared one, and it ended up being one of our favorite bites of the meal. The edges had a slight crisp while the inside was soft, fluffy, and full of flavor. Parking was easy with a large free parking lot, which is always a bonus. Another perk is the location--you can make a day of it by shopping at Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls/HomeGoods, and Old Navy, all within the same shopping center. If you're still in the mood to browse after brunch, The Galleria is just a short drive away for even more shopping (and a chance to walk off all that delicious food!). Overall, Snooze delivers great food, attentive service, and a fun brunch atmosphere. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in Houston.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in quite some time. We had an 8:00 PM reservation but weren't seated until around 8:30 PM. While delays happen and I was willing to overlook that, the experience only went downhill from there. We ordered Palomas to kick off our Friday night. The drinks took quite a while to arrive, and when they did, they were noticeably watered down. I politely mentioned it to our server, who quickly took them back and brought replacements, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second round was nearly identical to the first. When I brought it up again, instead of acknowledging the feedback, the server responded by saying it was "just not a sugary drink." That completely missed the point. I wasn't expecting a sweet cocktail--I was pointing out that the drinks tasted diluted and poorly made. What bothered me most wasn't the drinks themselves, but how the feedback was handled. I wasn't looking for free drinks or trying to be difficult. I was simply offering honest feedback, and it felt like my opinion was being dismissed rather than heard. Unfortunately, the food didn't redeem the experience. We ordered several dishes to get a good sense of the menu, and most were overwhelmingly salty. The salt overpowered any other flavors to the point that we couldn't finish some of the dishes. The sushi was the best thing we had, but even that lacked the presentation and quality I would expect at this price point. To be fair, the manager did remove the drinks from our bill as a courtesy, and I appreciate that gesture. However, by that point the damage had already been done. A resolution is only effective when guests feel heard and respected throughout the process. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my opinion and justify my feedback before anyone took it seriously. At the end of the day, a restaurant can be trendy, crowded, and beautifully designed, but none of that matters if the food and service don't deliver. Balboa Surf Club has the atmosphere and location, but in my experience it falls short where it matters most. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it because I had always been curious, but now I know I won't be back and cannot recommend it. If you're looking for a similar concept, I'd recommend Hudson House. The atmosphere is comparable, but the drinks are consistently well-made, the food is much better, and the service has always been far superior.

For an app, we got the coconut shrimp. 10/10 -- well fried, coconut forward. Fun and easy bites. We also got the salmon roll and thought it was refreshing. Light umami, sauce was not needed. For our mains, we got the cheeseburger and redfish. My husband does not love seafood, but he devoured the redfish. It was flaky, buttery, with lots of crab. The burger was ok -- it reminded me of an elevated Big Mac. It was not a bad burger, but it wasn't that melty, gooey, buttery number some of us love. Get the lemon meringue. The menu leaned heavily toward sandwiches, with a reasonable selection of salads and a few steak options thrown in. The cocktails, unfortunately, were flat-out gross--easily the low point of the meal. That said, not everything missed. The chicken fingers with fries and mac & cheese were genuinely good--crispy, satisfying, and probably the highlight. But the rest of the sides didn't hold up. The coleslaw tasted like it came straight out of a can, and the roasted artichokes were overwhelmed with a liquid smoke flavor that made them completely inedible. Service was another issue. One waitress initially took our order, but about ten minutes later, a second waitress came over to let us know she couldn't read the first one's handwriting and asked us to repeat everything. Drinks arrived just a couple of minutes before the food, which felt poorly timed. The final straw was when we asked to box up leftovers. The waitress stacked all of our plates--about six of them--on top of the food we wanted to take home and carried everything to the back. That completely killed any interest in keeping the leftovers. In the end, it felt more like a casual chain dining experience than the elevated, cozy steakhouse we expected.
