I've been to Mexicali a few times now. They have a very large menu but somehow not a lot of options for me! I keep ordering the shrimp fajitas but the shrimps come undercooked. Stopped in for a quick work lunch with friends. The server was very friendly with us and she made sure she provided the details of what the lunch specials offered. I ordered the fajita style chicken rice bowl. The chicken was grilled and it maintained lots of juice in each bite. There was some type of sauce that was in there that reminded how they serve rice bowls in some Asian restaurants, but this sauce had a Latin flavor and it was good. Our group made the orders and waited a short while until the server was coming over to give us our food. She made sure everyone got exactly what they wanted. We were so impressed by how fresh and delicious the food was. We all made a commitment to return soon. read more

Booked their food truck through the PTO at our local elementary school to serve dinner at an after school performance. Advertised on Facebook to let parents know of food options. After multiple attempts to reach Jose with phone calls, voicemails, and text messages that were read and never answered, and calling the storefront restaurant and being told they don't handle the food truck and to call Jose, we finally got in touch with someone at the restaurant who said "yeah you can't trust Jose, he lies" and that "he's probably not coming tonight" - 2 hours before they were scheduled to arrive. Now we have 100 families and no food to provide them. Terrible customer service. read more

This place is located in Berwick, and I had no idea that it was there! Really yummy Mexican food, which I appreciate because there seems to be a lot of Tex mex places in the area. We went on a Friday about 5:40. There was a good amount of people there, but we were seated immediately. The taco salad wasn't the best- but I wouldn't really get a salad at a Mexican spot. If there was some kind of cilantro lime vinaigrette instead of salad dressing packets, I feel the salad would have been better. There was a ton of flavor, it just was poorly made. The three tacos for $12 was a steal! I chose the shrimp ones and did not expect them to be so spicy! Super flavorful, but I would have appreciated a little less spice. Tried something different today and I'm so happy. The Chicken Chimichanga was amazing. The chicken was flavorful. My only regret was it was fried. My mother would be proud, I didn't waste any food. I ate everything on my plate including the salad. The steak fajitas were also delicious. I wasn't a big fan of their guacamole it lacked the lime kick, but I still give them 5 stars because the chicken chimichanga was so good. For clarification, the chicken was not fried. Chimichangas are fried burittos - I think. Next time I will try the buritto so I can save a few calories. read more

This is one of the better/more expensive Mexican restaurants in town. The inside decor is nicer than many other Mexican restaurant. Generally speaking, I'm not very into Mexican food, but I love their tacos! The flavor is both rich and subtle, with a touch of refreshing lime juice. I must say Fresh has really won me over. The service was fast and very friendly. Tonight, I had the fajita bowl with no queso to keep it light. Served hot and fresh, it was great! Here is the secret....ask for their house hot sauce. I've had hundreds of different hot sauces, and this one is unique. Hot and flavorful and not vinegar based. I didn't make a big deal out of it, but sent my food back to get reheated and fixed and it came back hot, but my food order was still wrong again! Smh the bartender was nice despite everything, but it was not a good experience overall esp for a taco Tuesday and I won't be back! Mexicali is our neighborhood go-to for Mexican! My husband and I come often and always try something new on the menu. Our favorites are the table side guacamole and the tacos al-pastor. I am also a huge fan of the sopes, after falling in love with them during our honeymoon to Mexico! The drinks are always a great size and freshly made. The chips are ever-flowing and salsa is fresh. Everything tastes fresh and portions are perfect. The interior has a cute design, the service is quick and attentive, and we've always gotten a table. I have enjoyed the food as well as the atmosphere. The staff has been attentive and professional. The restaurant is always clean (that means more than ever right now). I have ordered everything from fish taco ( always fresh and on point) to vegetarian burrito. All were delicious. The only thing that keeps them from a five star in their category is the up charges! They have an up charge for everything that I order and it is not reflected on the menu, it is only when you order that these "additions" are explained! What is on menu in fine print during a pandemic is a 5% up charge for take out. read more

I visited this location and I paid for the meal and tip by credit card. After I received the credit card statement, I found that an additional tip amount was added without my approval. I have called the restaurant 3 times (one time asking for the owner) and have also sent an email, with no response or explanation. After all this effort and no response, I do not think this restaurant plans to reimburse me. At this point I am just going to write this off this as a place to avoid in the future. If the restaurant wants to call me back or respond to my email, I will consider removing this review. After 3 calls and an email were not returned, I definitely do not plan to call or email them again. read more

I was visiting from out-of-town on business and stumbled upon Mexicali Fresh courtesy of Yelp. I do not understand the negative reviews. I found it to be superb. So did my business associate with whom I was traveling. We visited on a Monday evening and the place was packed. I figured that that was a good sign. It was! This is one of the best Mexican restaurants that I've tried. Everything was simply wonderful: Delicious, fresh food, outstanding service, and clean, comfortable surroundings. I had the burrito de carnitas. The thing was very large and was literally stuffed with delicious chunks of pork. I'm a big eater but it was more than I could eat. My dining companion raved about his chicken jajitas. We found the chips to be crispy and fresh and the salsa was superb. The salsa wasn't hot but it wasn't wimpy, either. I could stand it with more kick but I understand that most patrons don't care for hot salsa. It had excellent flavor with lots of cilantro (which I happen to love). My only (minor) complaint is that it could be a little thicker. It's hard to not leave a trail of drips between the cup and your mouth. But, again, it is very tasty. The service was just as good as the food. Very attentive and our server was most personable. This is definitely a well-run restaurant. I recommend it highly. I'll definitely be back next trip to Savannah. read more

Prices keep going up while portion sizes decrease. Then they add a 3% card use charge. There are better values elsewhere. However, they have a captive audience in the Berwick area and some specialty dishes available here only. Too bad for the workers they don't even pay that now get 3% less in tips. This is my "home Mexican spot" if you know what I mean. The food is always fresh and delicious. My son who has tons of allergies they accommodate so we can actually go out to eat here and bring him along.. which can be a struggle at time. For food I recommend: Molcajete special Fajita rice bowl Seafood chimichanga-- I was skeptical but man did they make me a believer. Come hungry for this one! The shrimp tacos, fish tacos, barbacoa and carne asada tacos all are delicious. The ceviche i probably won't order again but not because it's bad, I think I'm just more into Peruvian style ceviche. My only negative is that they charge extra for chips and salsa. Inside you can have 2 orders but for take out they charge for anything more than one order. And for my family getting 70$ worth of take out, I think we deserve more than one tiny portion. All in all definitely recommend! read more

Let me tell you the food here is phenomenal. Never had a problem with the food except sometimes it might say it brings pico de gallo and then it comes out and it's not there. It's not worth mentioning to the waitress sometimes but just be aware your plate might not be by the menu description every time. Try the chorizo queso dip. The only thing that makes this place not a 5 star is the service staff. They take their time or act like they don't want to be there at all. They sit down together in a corner of the restaurant or at the host stand and just talk. From sitting you down or getting you drinks or asking for extras of something it's a pain. Service here feels like nails on a chalkboard. If they just acted quicker I could leave quicker and that would make them happy I would assume. The food is out on time however I assume only because the food runner guy is different than the rest of the staff. I would love to have a good waitress here but it hasn't happened yet. read more
