Walking through this residential neighborhood of single and 2 and 3-family homes I was surprised when this place appeared, still a few blocks away from the main commercial areas. Tacos, perfect for a light meal. I asked for a table on the semi-enclosed patio. It looked cozy, with its low painted walls, table umbrellas and overhead canopies, birds chirping and Mexican music softly playing. I had two street tacos, a la carte, and a house margarita. That would be enough with the complimentary chips and salsa for the small lunch that I wanted, but I'd recommend three for a normal size lunch. The Lamb Barbacoa was tender pieces, moist from the rich simmer sauce, with raw and fried onions and lots of cilantro. A bit salty. The Pork Belly was large pieces, relatively lean, nicely rendered and curiously sweet/sour. With radishes, tomatoes, picked onions. Both were very good. As were the two hot sauces brought when I asked, one very hot and the other smoky and sweet. The chips and salsa were nothing special but both decent. The margarita was just ordinary in flavor and strength and served in a disposable plastic cup. It was refreshing nonetheless. As for other menu items, there are all the Tex-Mex standards and some Mexican entrees but I think I'd get some street tacos again; there are a large variety, many which I've not seen before. All the staff: greeter, bartenders, waiters, were fully bilingual, today serving a roughly equal mix of English and Spanish-speaking customers. My waiter checked on me frequently and his advice to try the pork belly taco (his favorite) was spot on. Another person was engaged in cleaning the entire time I was there, and I watched in fascination as she tackled every conceivable surface, using a variety of tools and stepladders where needed. Food is great, its incredibly fast and Modelo on draft for $5. Combined thst with a friendly staff and there is no reason to go anywhere else. Without exaggeration my wife and I got our food under 10 minutes from ordering, as hot and fresh as could be. I recommend the Aztec bowl with Tuna or Fish Filet as it is very filling and priced well. My boyfriend and I love this spot, we came on cinco de mayo, had a bit of a wait (obviously, because they're the best and everyone wanted to be there) but we quickly were sat. We had Patty as our server and she was so much fun! She gave us a free round of shots for waiting and to cheers to the holiday. We sat outside in their beautiful outdoor area and had a great meal. If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would. I had a rice/meat dish with queso that was tasty, but eventually tasted repetitive and wish it had more flavor dynamic - maybe more sauces? My wife's beef empanadas were good, but the cheese empanadas were not. Kiddo had chicken tenders and a sort of fries - she did not like the smile fries (and she always likes fries). and the chicken tenders didn't look good. The selection of food and drinks is ample so everyone can find something they love. The menu is easy to Understand and the veggie options are clearly marked so there is no confusion. They have all the regulars like chips and salsa and table side quac and cheese dips. And the star of the show, are their little tacos. The combinations are fabulous. This is a great place to go when you are in Savannah! You can never go wrong with Mexican and all of the entrees were delicious. Number one tip...get the queso! You get free chips and salsa when you are seated, but the added queso is only about $5 and well worth it. With 4 of us we could not finish all of the queso. This is the largest serving I have had, especially for the price! This was a fun place to eat, we ate outside and it was not too hot, but there were a lot of flies everywhere. I would suggest eating inside, or ask them for a fly spinner (they gave this to some tables, but we did not know about it, so spent our whole dinner swatting flies). They will serve a half frozen margarita for $8.00 with no apologies. And what they consider glassware is a plastic solo cup 2 The glassware is all solo cups no matter what beverage you order. Small update, everything on the menu has gone up like other restaurants unfortunately. But now they are charging $1.50 per taco if you want grilled onions on your tacos!! Greeted rudely at the door, but I sat down anyway. Should have walked away when the two people at the host stand were not helpful or friendly. Waitress was nice but didn't come by often. Salsa- good, but in a tiny bowl. I ordered two tacos- the picadillo, which would have been average tasting had it not be covered in way too much lettuce and sour cream. See photo for how much was on there. However, taco was edible, but now I feel sick after eating it. 2nd taco- al pastor was inedible. I took one bite and couldn't eat any more of it. This place wasn't busy at all, food was not worth it and made me really queasy. I wasted money, time, and possibly my health- won't ever be back. I stopped here on my drive from Orlando to Charleston and that couldn't have been a better decision! The staff here was incredibly welcoming and sweet from the moment I walked in. Of course, I ordered the arroz texano which was fabulous. The serving was generous and flavorful with lots of meat and shrimp (hack: use some of the chips as a spoon and it's like nachos). I even had leftovers to eat once I finished my drive which was definitely a perk! Overall, great atmosphere, great food, and great service! Delicioso! This new Tequila's Town location is convenient to downtown, just south of Forsyth Park, and has unmetered street parking and a side parking lot. Very friendly and helpful servers a plus, too! Their menu has a different flair from the Historic District location featuring 16 varieties of Street Tacos, plant based bowls, burritos and enchiladas. If Vegan is what you prefer they have plenty of choices. Additionally, their corn tortillas with salsa are complimentary. We started our visit with table side guacamole $9, a favorite of ours. Several avocados mashed to perfection table side with a choice of additions. We love ours with everything: onion, fresh jalapeño, cilantro, diced tomato and lime juice. Since Street Tacos are their menu feature, I ordered 3 - one beef, shrimp and chicken, $4 each. Choose from flour or corn tortilla and each served with a side of their house made salsa verde or salsa roja. Shrimp is the featured protein on the Cameron topped with cabbage slaw, thinly sliced radishes, pickled onions and fresh cilantro. It's easy to grill shrimp to a dried out state, but their grilled shrimp was plump, juicy and delicious! Kudos to the grill master! Next, the Carne Asada is grilled steak with yellow onions and cilantro capped. Very good. Last, but not least, the Pollo was filling with plenty of flavorful grilled chicken, yellow onions (grilled and fresh diced) and cilantro. They have an extensive, covered patio dining with strings of lights strung from side to side that I'm sure will illuminate a festive evening. A large interior bar has plenty of seating and is stocked with liquor and beer. Their cocktail menu features 9 Mexican beers with a local craft and Tecate Light on tap. What a margarita?
