This is my favorite place to eat in all of Savannah. We are always sat quickly then someone comes by to drop off chips and salsa. The server always greets us within a minute or two of sitting to take our drink orders. Our food comes out rather quickly each time. It's a fun and busy environment on Friday and Saturday nights, and even on those busy nights we don't wait too long for our food! Service is great, food is delicious and reasonably priced. Lunch specials are great and they have super cheap beers. My husband and his coworkers come here a couple times a week. I get the chimichangas, so good. read more

I sat at the bar and Ivan was good. Their salsa is still waaaay too spicy for normal people, my friend was choking the whole time. Once I added salt it was good to me though because I'm a spice type of person. We ordered wings (1/2 lemon pepper 1/2 Buffalo) and they were probably the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant. I also got three tacos (asada, chicken and carnitas) they were all flavorful and completely different from my first visit here. The rice and beans (my faves) were even better this time. I drank 2 1/2 frozen margaritas and was beyond drunk, they were so strong and I didn't pace myself enough. Overall, it really matters whose in the kitchen. Sn: the bar is super uncomfortable. It's the new chairs and nowhere to place my feet for me. So jalapeños wins in that category. read more

I've been a big fan of la nopalera since 2020 when I first came to visit the area. The service is fast and friendly & the food is as authentic as it gets in Savannah. I LOVE their margs! The prices are great and the sizes are worth the money! I usually recommend this place for a fun birthday dinner, or a little date night. The restaurant itself is right across the street from the mall so traffic can be a little crazy and not going to lie, so can finding parking but 100% worth it! The food is also always delicious and hot. The pretty much cater to your needs if you need anything added or removed from your entree. Like I said, they are extremely friendly and customer service oriented. You will always get free chips and salsa here. My favorites include the carne asada, carnitas & mojara! Not sure why this place has an overall three rating. Just finished lunch here and the fajita nachos were as good as any Mexican restaurant that I've been to in Savannah. No. Hostess brought salsa out with her thumb in it. The chips were plain bagged chips and thick and borderline stale. They do not bring you the thin hot chips you'd expect going to a Mexican Restaurant. Margarita taste like mix. I told one Waitress that it taste just like the mix and she says "The Manager makes those from scratch himself, there's no mix in it." Baffled...bc it taste JUST LIKE MIX, I drink a little more and then tell My Husband I can't drink this. So I asked the same Waitress, "So the Manager makes each Margarita by scratch?" She then says "No, who makes Margaritas fresh by scratch?! No restaurant! He makes them in the Morning a big container." Me: And he doesn't use ANY Margarita Mix? Because this tastes just like the mix you'd buy at the store. Her: Well yeah he uses a little Mix but not too much. Oh. So You Lied (this is my thought) as I tell them I don't want this Margarita and also let her know that many Restaurants, La Parilla to name one makes Margaritas fresh, per order without mix if you order a skinny. We came here after a fun day at the beach, and were super hungry - La Nopalera ended up being a great choice! The service was attentive and fast and our server kindly accommodated our requests for modifications. The house salsa was tangy and delicious. We ordered the vegetable fajitas, veggie chimichanga, and veggie burrito to share - all three dishes were pretty good, especially the chimichanga (ranchero sauce was super flavorful) and the veggie burrito (the cheese sauce it was smothered in was warm and creamy with a kick). Greeted by a homeless person picking up my to go order. I have a strange side dish I like to order: two cheese enchiladas with (chili con) queso on top. The La Nopalera in Richmond Hill executed this side dish perfectly TWICE....this one contained just red chili and ZERO queso on top The parmesana enchiladas my mother ordered she enjoyed, likewise with the beef Poblano Dinner my dad enjoyed. However, the tortillas were worse than any store quality tortilla I've ever had. That's not even the worst part: I ordered the Arroz de la Texana (Texas rice). The shrimp tasted like rubber and soft on the deep inside: more likely than not beginning to spoil. The beef and chicken didn't taste any different from one another, and aside from the boring rice there was barely any cheese sauce in my order. I woke up at 3am in dire need of water because my mouth tasted like a salt lick. My father had the same issue. I won't be returning to this location, but will be to the one in Richmond Hill. Stopper in for lunch on a Tuesday. I wasnt very hungry but knew if I didnt eat something I'd be hangry later. I was seated right away and my drink order was taken. The decor is what you would expect in a mexican restaurant. The bar stools looked cool and the color scheme and music were festive. I ordered guacamole dip. Like I said I wasnt very hungry and I have kind of a obsession with guacamole. I was a little worried about it because they did not offer tableside which is usually my preferred method of ordering but I went with it. The guacamole was fantastic. I just had to add a little salt, which is my preference, but it was really good. I was not disappointed at all with my "meal" choice. Outside of my favorite little place in mexico to get guac, this is now my 2nd favorite. It's simple, flavorful and consistancy is perfect. "Mexican" usually does. Maybe a bad Coronavirus day. Chile Relleno, taco, rice and beans. All was horrendous, dull, cardboard stuff. Terrible! I can dig through my trash for pieces of limp cardboard. Didn't need to spend $35 for 2 orders of thia. Folks - for a delivery order of taco, you can't slap the thing one side down on an aluminum plate! It sweats, drips, falls apart. Soggy mass. And still was cardboard flavored crap. It's a given that the American idea of Mexican is BS. This I knew going into it. But I can't imagine what anyone could possibly do to suck out all flavor even given the pathetic materials used. Horrendous! Also, it was a requirement to choose cheese salsa - whatever the hell that is. Didn't come. Cannot bring myself to use appropriate wording here. This is one of our go-to restaurants when we are in this area. Service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The salsa is among the best we have had in any Mexican restaurant. My favorite dish is the Burritos Del Mar which is delicious, and HUGE. read more

A convenient location, fair prices, and a great happy hour - 2 for 1 margaritas... good authentic food with a lot of flavor and a wonderful cheap Mexican buffet with many yummy options to choose from at lunch! I would not say it is my favorite (my favorite is in Pennsylvania) but it is good for down south Mexican food - just enough flavor and also a friendly cute staff :) :) Their chicken soup is VERY good - make sure u ask for avocados with it bc they don't always serve them with it (see below) I give it a three bc I have been there many times and half the time when I order out they forget to put something I ordered in the bag or do not have a side that comes with a meal. Their consistency in delivering the same food is so-so; the quality of their food is not always the same (sometimes it has more/less ingredients and tastes different) which I do not enjoy because when I go somewhere specifically to expect something to taste a certain way and it doesnt... it's disappointing. read more

So i understand covid makes things hard on businesses around the world. However this was just sad. We ordered a bunch of food through door dash. The establishment had just thrown the food in with no regard to how it would shift during the ride over. Our qué so had ended up spilling down the leg of our driver from the lack of consideration for transportation. Next the corn wraps they used would just disintegrate when touched. The steak and chicken was not very good, you could find better produce in Aldi's for way cheaper. The enchiladas were just a paste outside and very unappealing and unappetizing. If your looking for good Mexican food please turn away from here. You could cook better Mexican food with your feet and some half decent produce from the expired section at Aldi's. read more

I was very disappointed with my favorite Mexican restaurant today. We came in at the lunch rush so we knew service would be slow. We got our drinks and chips and salsa. When the waitress came back we ordered two beef enchiladas with extra cheese and sauce. We also asked for a bowl of white cheese to go with our chips. We waited at least 20 minutes for our order and the mean while the waitress brought more chips and salsa. She did not bring the white cheese we asked for. We let it slide. When we finally got our enchiladas they were excellent as usual. But when we go the check it had a line for extra cheese. Assuming that was the cheese we ordered and did not receive I ask the waitress to take off the charge. She said something about us having gotten the extra cheese but her accent was so thick I couldn't understand her. When I tried to explain and she told me the charge was for the cheese on the enchiladas. Now I have been buying the same order for years and years here and never once had been charged to the cheese on the enchiladas. Then she told me that they only had cheddar cheese not white cheese on them. Once again I have never received cheddar cheese on my enchiladas. Not only could we not understand her but she obviously knew nothing of the menu and probably couldn't understand us anymore than we could understand her. The food was good but the service was so poor. It will take a little while before I can go in there again. And then I'll ask for a different waitress. read more

From the moment you walk in....you KNOW this is going to be EXCELLENT Mexican food. You see a well stocked bar ( I know I'm in a Mexican restaurant...but I want Bourbon, while my bride has a Corona ). The chips are hot and begging you to dip them in a spicy salsa. We both chose the # 4 combinations, an enchilada, 2 tacos, and a tostada each ( mine with chicken...hers had ground beef ). We cut and shared the meals. WOW, this is GOOOOOOOOOD. I'll be the first to admit if you're in mood for upscale Mexican dining then keep on drinking but if you're in jeans and t-shirt mood and just want the basics this madam is your place. Awesome lunch buffet for $7.50! It's pretty huge and it has tortillas, taco shells, a shit ton of different meats and fajita meats with guac, sour cream, and fresh veggies. The pre-made stuff wasn't so good (like the enchiladas and taquitos) but I was super impressed with the fajita stuff! I've also been here for regular dinner and got the tacos al pastor. I used to love this place for the authenticity but not anymore. I visited with my boyfriend on Veterans Day. I was treating him since he is a service member. I ordered the fajita taco salad which used limp lettuce, smothered in cheese dip. I couldn't taste anything else but the cheese. My boyfriend got some sort of chicken that he said tasted days old. We left frustrated with our meal but still tipped 20%. When checking my bank account the following day I notice that the waiter upped my tip 10 dollars on top of my original tip making the bill and tip only a 1 dollar difference. I made many phone calls to resolve the issue, including the manager at their other locations and the only response I got was "prove it." I was so frustrated and I'll never be going back. Hmm... I'm conflicted. I love the food here. I love Americanized Mexican food. The service here is okay. I will excuse the meh service today because the world cup was on-I noticed we only got drink refills during commercial breaks. What I can not excuse is the fact that every single time I eat at this place I get the worst poops ever. There is no nice way to say it. I usually have to speed home to make it to the toilet in time to spray this food out of my body. Several times I have had to go to the barnes and noble across the street to poo and once had to brave a mcdonalds bathroom to abort an especially stomach churning chimichanga. It's really a great tasting place because we keep going back despite this issue. Service is friendly. Drinks are cheap, strong, and large. There's a small chance your car will get broken into in the lot but I have only seen it happen twice so the odds are in your favor. I will conclude this review with a list of better places to eat: la xalapena, cancun, jalapeño's, even juarez with their cockroaches doesn't make my intestines itch. Eat at your own risk. read more
