Flacos House Taqueria Mexicana - Cheesy steak birria tacos!

Flacos House Taqueria Mexicana

Stumbled upon a review that said these tacos "hit close to home," and since he was from Cali--and…read moreI'm a Cali girl myself--I couldn't pass up the chance to test that claim. You could easily miss this hidden gem, tucked away on the corner beside a gas station. There are dine-in options, but most people seemed to be taking their food to go. It's the best quick to go option I've seen. They had my order ready in no time. I ordered an assortment of tacos: carne asada, birria, and fish tacos, plus a side of guacamole and chips. To top it all off, I added their homemade cheesecake casera with strawberry purée... and of course, a large agua de jamaica con limonada. The staff were some of the friendliest I've experienced in the area--must be because they're from Cali lol. My only suggestion would be to leave the sauces off the tacos for to-go orders, or explain that "all the way" means everything on them. By the time I got back to my hotel, the sauce had soaked through the tacos, so I missed that classic one-hand taco experience. Also... definitely add extra limes. Thankfully, those chips came to the rescue, and the flavors absolutely did not disappoint. Bottom line: it really did hit close to home. The flavors were on point, and the true winners of it all were the fish tacos and the cheesecake.

Extremely disappointing customer service after 10+ years as a customer…read more I placed an online order for about $50 worth of food. When I arrived, I was told their system had undercharged me by $2. No problem, I was happy to pay the difference. Instead of simply letting me pay the $2 and giving me the order I placed, they told me they had already made something different and that I could either take the wrong tacos or buy two additional tacos. I had to argue just to receive the order I had already placed and paid for. The issue started because their online system only allowed me to select one meat option for a 3-taco order. My wife is pregnant and specifically wanted three carne asada tacos, so I selected carne asada (with the $1 upcharge) and placed the order along with about $35 more in food. When I arrived, they had made tacos with random meats instead and suggested I just take them. After finally agreeing to fix it, they insisted I pay the difference but charged me $3 plus tax instead of the $2 they originally said. I questioned it, and immediately after charging me they admitted it actually was $2. By then I had already been overcharged and no one seemed concerned about fixing it. So to summarize: * Their system glitch caused the issue * I was willing to pay the difference immediately * I had to push just to receive the order I placed * They overcharged me anyway and didn't correct it All of this over $2. After more than a decade of supporting this place, the way this was handled left a really bad impression. The food has always been good, but the customer service during this interaction was extremely poor. I won't be back.

What a fantastic place!!! Big happy and exciting, this…read morerestaurant is a standout in the vast array of places to visit in the Savannah/Pooler area. I was lucky enough to get a spot on the deck and it's just a great atmosphere. The service people are all fantastic but what can you expect from the Georgia people. I love it down here. I had to try the chorizo poppers and I'm glad I did. What a great dish, crispy fried wonton filled with chorizo cream cheese served with a delicious sriracha honey sauce and lots of chopped bacon and green onions. I'm stealing that one to make at home. I had 3 fun tacos all bangin'. The menu is fun and there are no bad choices. This place was a great find and what a lucky gem for the locals.

I sat at the bar right away (I was by myself) and promptly got my drink order taken and food order filled. I got the steak elite bowl and special cucumber margarita, along with the mango habanero salsa and plantains. The drinks were really good, the whole staff had great customer service, and inside was nice and clean. The steak bowl lacked flavor, I was glad I got the habanero salsa - it made up for the lack of flavor on it and had good spice. The plantains and cinnamon apple sauce on the side was a nice "dessert" after my meal. Chips were hot and salsa was fresh and vibrant. Not a bad experience. For 2 drinks, bowl, and 2 sides it was only $35-45.
