    a bowl of salsa

I finally got to see a bit of Savannah and with it being Taco Tuesday we came here to Jalapeños. They weren't super busy but they did seem a little understaffed for the crowd (probably more so in the kitchen). Ross was our servers, and he was great, personable and fixed any issue we had accordingly. The rice and beans was good, and the flavor of the steak was nice too it was just really dry. I'm a HUGE Mexican fan and if it weren't for the fact that the steak was in strips it might've been more moist. The salsa and queso were good as well and I usually don't like queso. The experience was still good and I'd probably give them another chance if I passed by hungry.

I met a friend at Jalapeños on April 3, 2024. I asked for tea in a to go cup, but I received tea in a glass with a lemon; I don't like lemon in my tea. Since the waiter seemed spaced out, I asked the lady who took us to our seat to please bring me tea-in a to go cup. Unfortunately, the waiter brought my drink, and we can see that the side of the cup had dirty finger prints all over the white cup; I did not drink the tea. I went near the kitchen & asked for some chips & salsa, but again unfortunately, the waiter brought the chips & salsa to us & sat the chip bowl inside of the bowl that was already on the table & pushed it down where it just crunched!! WOW!!! He was constantly leaning against the wall where we were sitting seemingly to hold himself up. I was thinking at this point; is this waiter drunk??? He had a hard time taking the order while still leaning against the wall. My husband & I have eaten there before, and I knew that someone else other than the waiter would bring out our food, because at that point, we did not want him to bring us anything else. While eating my food, I noticed that the plate had a big chip on it. Due to the white color of the plate, I did not notice the chip until after consuming some of the food. I did show it to the waiter & asked him tell the manager to come to our table. I kept asking the waiter and if the manager was coming, and all of a sudden he acted like he could not speak ENGLISH!! Again, I asked for the manager, and when the manager finally came to our table, he also acted like he could not comprehend or speak ENGLISH. He had no answer for the chipped plate. At that point I just wanted to get out of the restaurant, and will NEVER go there again!!!!!!!!! I recommended this restaurant to my friend, who is visiting from Atlanta for our all girls-weekend, but none of us will ever visit again. Is their business so bad that they must use plates that are chipped? What about hygiene & require their waiters to constantly wash their hands? Also, now I am wondering about the back staff!! Are they washing their hands?? Something needs to be done about this horrible customer service. They are not above being investigated!!

Stopped in for dinner tonight. Short staffed but very attentive and friendly. If you want some good Mexican in Savannah I definitely recommend Jalapeños. We got the Mexican Mule and a Peach Daiquiri for drinks. Both were good and not bad priced. For our meal I got the Chicken Enchiladas and my husband got the Chicken and Bean Burritos. Portions are good to make you feel full. Our two particular dishes came as is with no sides. There are chips and salsa for the table of course. Overall a good meal and friendly service.

This place was an Unexpected gem ! Our first Time here Was Kind of apprehensive of trying it ! I must say the service was great got seated fast. Our server was awesome. Mind you when someone doesn't write Down My order is usually the first sign that it won't be a good visit however our server put everything in exactly the way we ordered it ! Now let's get to the good stuff the bean dip was delicious a perfect blend of beans and white queso cheese matched with the most perfect chips with the perfect amount of salt ! Now the Torta!! let me tell you I have had Torta's From many corners of this world and nothing and I mean nothing comes close to The flavor and taste of my carne asada Torta ! Now y'all run in and give it a try you will be glad you did!!

In all honesty, one comes to Jalapeno's for the drinks. The food is always a hit a miss. Well the one in Sandfly is much better. The Aberdeen location is horrible. For one, it's like they're rushing to eat and and get up out of there. You order and app and they bring your starter and meal at the same time. How are you to enjoy both? Normally the chorizo dip is pretty good, this time it was full of oil and the cheese was watered down. The inside of my enchilada was cold and the cheese was already dried up by the time it hit the table. I literally took one bite and let it be. I tried to stick it with the dip but it was a no go. Our server was nice so that's always a plus.

Not a bad place. Very busy yet we didn't have to wait for anything. They were definitely staffed according to the busy time. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Pleasant to be there even considering there were kids that made a mess right across from us. We got served quickly. We got drinks quickly. We ate quickly which was exactly what we were looking for off the freeway.

    Arroz Tejano

I came in to Jalapeno's for a dinner date with a couple of friends. Generally Jalapeno's isn't my go to when it comes to Mexican food, but who fights a group choice?! Thankfully my group came on a week day night, because Jalapeno's always has a large crowd on the weekends (because of the drink specials). Therefore, the parking lot was relatively easy to maneuver. We also lucked up because half of our group had already been seated before I walked in, so no wait time! At the table, a bowl of chips and salsa sat waiting to be divulged. However, I'm not sure about you, but something about chips and salsa is highly addicting. I seem to mindless munch on the meal waiting to place my order. Nonetheless, moments after sitting our waitress came to the table and asked for our order. She was warm and actually pretty fun, i wish I remembered her name. *Entree: Arroz Tejano ($11.00) The Arroz Tejano without the steak (my personal preference), but with substituted with more chicken and shrimp. The dish is a bed of rice layered with chicken, shrimp, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and covered with queso. Generally everyone knows that cheese makes everything better, but in this case less is probably better. There was so much queso that my meal seemed to be floating, and the queso flavor became overwhelming mid-way through the meal. If I were to get this meal again I would ask for the queso on the side so I could pour the queso to my discretion. The inside of the restaurant has an authentic Mexican feel. The decor is bright and vibrant with plenty of intricate wall decor. Although I enjoy the decor the seating could use an update. Overall this restaurant deserves a B-. The food is seasoned well, the waitress/staff are friendly, the wait time is relatively decent, and the drink specials are awesome. Pitfalls, the restaurant gets busy on the weekends, seating is slightly older, the restaurant can be loud, and the Arroz Tejano had more than enough queso making it difficult to enjoy the remaining flavors on the plate.

If you enjoy a little spice in your cocktail, I highly recommend it. Since we were only in town for one night, we planned on hopping around downtown and trying several different places, so we kept it simple and ordered three tacos to share. There were quite a few tempting options on the menu, and every taco we tried was delicious. Looking back, we honestly should have just stayed here all night eating tacos and drinking tequila because none of the other places we visited afterward lived up to this experience. The atmosphere was bright, lively, and fun, with a great location right on the boardwalk. Between the food, drinks, and overall vibe, this ended up being one of our favorite stops of the trip. We'll absolutely be returning the next time we're in town. After experiencing some of the other disappointing spots downtown, this place made us realize we probably didn't need to go anywhere else.

Margaritas were tasty with lots of flavors to choose from. We tried the chips and dip trio. Guacamole was amazing and so was the queso. The salsa we had was okay but would probably choose something different next time we visit. Everyone loved their tacos with everyone having a taste of something different. We finished it off with churros which were just as great as the ones in Disney! Our waiter was very friendly and had good recommendations for tacos to try! It wasn't too busy when we first got there but picked up as the night went on! I recommend for a solid girls night or anyone wanting some great margaritas and tacos!

I asked them to add Refried beans and ordered more sour cream and guacamole on the side. The beans were on the bottom while I was told they would be on top - a little hard to spot and taste. My mother only ordered one taco with guacamole on the side. I found the food flavorful. So much so, I took my cousins back the next evening after a ghost city haunted pub crawl for late bites. Even though there is a completely different menu for late evening, everyone (group of seven) said they enjoyed what they ordered (various dips and tacos). Perfect for drunken cravings! We were also seated immediately during this late night visit. I would definitely return if I find myself in the area again.

My Cozy Go-To for Date Night Vibes…read more I love this place so much, it has officially earned a permanent spot on our date night rotation. Órale Tacos + Tequila has everything I want in a restaurant: comfort, good food, and people who make you feel like you're right at home. My husband and I are hooked on their American-style quesadillas--mine with shrimp, his with chicken--and let me just say, the portions are generous and they somehow taste even better the next day! Moffie (I hope I'm spelling her name right) is usually our server and she is just the sweetest soul. Always smiling, always kind, and just a pleasure to see. But then... there's JAZMINE. I don't know where she learned how to make an Old Fashioned, but I never want it made by anyone else again. Her hands are blessed. Seriously, I get happy when I walk in and see her behind the bar. The very first time we came, she was experimenting with a jalapeño drink and asked if I wanted to try it--it was FABULOUS. Since then, she's just had that "it" factor. Warm, creative, and magnetic. One time we came in and she wasn't working, and I genuinely felt a little sad! But the time before that, we hugged as soon as we saw each other. That says everything. This place has heart. From the food to the cocktails to the people who make the experience so special, Órale is more than just a restaurant--it's a vibe. A cozy, joyful, delicious vibe. Can't wait for our next visit!

The whole place is designed to feel like the inside of a trailer--spray-painted antique chandeliers, old pictures of different trailer parks, and random little details everywhere. It's kitschy, but very intentional, and honestly pretty cool. We came in late after a 4h drive into town after work, and the staff was still super friendly and accommodating. No "we're about to close" energy, which I appreciated. We started with the creamy collard dip, which is basically their take on spinach-artichoke dip, but with collards. Really good. I do think the chips were a little too heavy for the dip--a thinner chip would've been perfect--but that's a small note. The chicken pancake tacos were probably my favorite. The chicken was fried perfectly and still really moist. And at this point, I'm convinced Savannah just knows how to cook chicken. Everywhere we went, the chicken was consistently good. My partner got the grilled apple pie sandwich, which has fried chicken, grilled apples and bacon. He's not even a big pork person, but that bacon was so crispy and the whole combination just worked. Even the waffle fries were good--crispy, fresh and actually seasoned. We had the Grateful Dead and Wicked Kiwi cocktails, plus a couple of shots, and the drinks were strong, good and reasonably priced. Honestly, I don't have a ton of notes here. It's not trying to be some elevated dining experience. It's just a really good late-night spot with good food, strong drinks, friendly service and a fun atmosphere. We sat inside because Savannah in August was not about to have us sitting on anybody's patio. Definitely recommend, especially if you're looking for somewhere to eat late. It was a vibe, the food was good, and it did exactly what it needed to do.
