Bubba Garcia is a Mexican place located off of busy Bay Street in downtown Savannah. Street parking is available if you can find any or there is side streets parking. The menu is a mix of individual street tacos and basic mex dishes. It's not your typical Mexican restaurant with fresh chips, and table-side guacamole. But Mexican inspired with a southern twist added to it. The seating can be cramped since the tables are close together. They have a full bar and live music on the weekend. The menu has a mix of everything with some healthy paleo options along with a few traditional dishes. They were knowledgeable of allergies and happy to talk to the kitchen to check ingredients for me. The pulled pork, shrimp and beef taco meat was seasoned so well. Juicy with perfect flavoring. Bubba Garcia's is the new kid on the Bay Street block. I like their upgrades, flat screen T.V.s showing professional Rugby, it's clean, and they have a nice variety of tequilas! The complimentary chips were crisp, the beer was cold, and I could have eaten their salsa like soup with a spoon- yummy! Their guacamole was delicious, too. For my three burrito meal, I chose one pork, chicken and ground beef. The chicken and ground beef were very tasty, but I found the pork filling to be dry and actually some bites were crispy. I enjoyed Bubba Garcia's. This new restaurant is certainly a go-to now. It is located on Bay Street. The Drayton Hotel is close to it. Parking on the street is available. Restrooms are located at the back of the restaurant. The restaurant like many from the street on Bay may look small, but it has a good bit of space. There is a nice long bar, and plenty of tables for seating. I appreciate that they did not squeeze tables in. You do not feel like you are touching your neighbors table. It matters, thank you Bubba Garcia's! The food was delicious! I loved my Tostada Tower. The best way to describe it is a burrito bowl and nachos combined. It has all of those elements but stacked. I will skip the guacamole next time. It was so much food and tasted great! Also the chips and salsa brought to the table were delicious too! I definitely will be back. Took advice from Eater Savannah and tried this place. Meh. The portions are huge, so if you're really hungry, that's a good thing. The location on Bay Street is convenient to the river and stuff, so that's cool. The vibe is...uh...a place to eat and drink...and there were sports on TV. The server was friendly, but let empty glasses sit for too long. The food wasn't bad, per se (although the tuna on my poke taco was definitely past its prime), it was just kinda bland and boring. I didn't expect super authentic or core memory 1am street tacos in Mazatlan or anything in a place lovingly dubbed "rednexican", but the flavor just wasn't there. Fun bar to be in when it's rainy heavy outside. We ordered some finger foods and had a few cocktails to was it down. Bartender was cool she told us about the area and what to see. Highly recommend this place if your in Savannah. read more

Needing an escape from the heat upon waking around Savannah's Historic District for a couple of hours we came across Bubba Garcia's! We walked in and sat down at the bar looking for a nice cold drink and that's when we saw their Frozen Margaritas! This was the perfect drink to help cool us off after a while of walking! They were very delicious! I even got to try a frozen mango margarita which was very refreshing and the perfect balance it was not too sweet. The ambiance of the restaurant was so fun and inviting they have these adorable monkey lanterns hanging from the ceiling wearing little hats and it was so original, I loved it! After talking to the bar staff my boyfriend and I found each of the monkeys have their own name courtesy of different staff members! If you are ever in the area stop by Bubba Garcia's for a fun time, great drinks and good company! read more

Expected good things based on the reviews I seen but sadly that wasn't the case. For starters the margaritas are very weak and super overpriced. Then the food is decent but again not worth the price they charge by any means. Some of the worst queso I've ever had btw. The only thing they did right was provide good service. Was very excited to try this new spot in downtown Savannah. Had the buffalo shrimp tacos! They were quite tasty. Washed it down with the MacDaddy Margarita. To top it all off they had the Braves game on the humongous TV. Definitely my kind of place. read more

You can tell the pico has been sitting in the fridge for a WHILE, I don't have a picture of the guacamole but it was BROWN, the whole cup was brown. The tuna was BROWN, even though it was raw; it shouldn't be brown. My family got tacos with over half, if not all of the ingredients missing besides the meat. The first warning was that there were no people inside. Got charged for add on that I never got. We got a chicken quesadilla, and the chicken tasted like it was from a can. read more

As this is my first time visiting and seeing as they opened two days ago I'm impressed on the progress they have made to change this from the Tondee's Tavern persona. Dani and Armond served me at the bar as I waited on a To Go order. They are personable and attentive and want you to have a great experience. The ambience is fun, light and as I walked in could tell it's newness as ai could smell the new paint one walls. It is such a joy having something fun I that space and I truly hope fellow Savannians flock to this place and enjoy. I got three of their tacos, the shrimp, the carnitas and a steak. They were flavorful, tasty, great sized and worth the price. Their tequila selection is impressive and I was even taken aback they have a peanut butter tequila they mix with Guinness for a "cartel Bomb" shot! Highly recommend you try them out. Glad St Simon's is expanding north to bring us this opportunity to enjoy. read more

Great food I order the steak fajitas. The server was friendly we had a random conversation about Tyler the creator. I thought the price was decent especially for the location $20 for steak fajitas. I don't stay but there was plenty of seating. I took my food to go it was nicely packed . One thing I will say is ask for more tortillas 3 is not enough read more

The place did have very good drinks. They had some margaritas that I haven't seen before and were quite tasty. My daughter had the ghost Margarita and my wife had the prickly pear Margarita they both were good. The food however here I would rate a zero. My wife had a chicken burrito. The burrito only had chicken in it and then they grilled the burrito. Yes you did have pico de gallo lettuce, tomato beans, and rice and sour cream on the side. I'm not sure what they're thinking because you can't disassemble a burrito that's been grilled to fill it up with ingredients. So my wife was like are we eating out but I'm having to cook my own food. She was confused. I had enchiladas and I asked for one pork and two cheese. What I got was one pork and two chicken. I sent back the two chicken and it took them another 30 minutes to bring me back two cheese enchiladas which were ice cold. I had everybody at the table try them and we all laughed about it. First and foremost, I had a favorite taco spot picked out in Savannah but this one is definitely in the running! Ambiance is not only great but pretty welcoming and even though we came pretty close to closing they didn't have a problem accommodating us. Now on to the food. . . Most places(taco spots that is)don't try to give you a portion big enough to fill. Not Bubba Garcia's! I ordered with my eyes and not my stomach and it was worth it. Great food and great atmosphere. The service was a little slow but they had just opened and there was a good crowd. It's a great spin on traditional Mexican cuisine with higher food quality and with cool menu items like Calamari and Elote corn fritters. The Tuna Poke and Carne Rostizada(sp?) were on point.
