Unfortunately this place has been slowly going downhill for the past year and half it seems. I've ran into multiple issues including super slow service, weak margaritas and now a big change in the food quality overall. I hope this place can get back to its roots cause this was my go to Mexican spot in Pooler ever since they opened.

This place never disappoints. Music always playing, place always clean and service always excellent About 5 mins from Savannah Hilton Head airport

The customer service was amazing. The food was really good. I had a enchilada and the ambiance was really good I love the decoration

This place is amazing and the service is second to none! The food is good and affordable. They also have a salsa bar that offers over 6 variations of salsa and other options for free!

Came here to wait for a late flight out of Savannah. Only 5 minutes to the airport. Do a little work, kill some time...have some dinner. For a Tuesday night, not a bad crowd. Ordered an Iced Tea and some Chorizo Queso it was good, but I really expected a thicker Queso with some tortillas. It was also slower than expected to come out. Not too horrible, some I had some time. I needed something more "healthy". So a salad! Chicken Fajita Salad. Wow! I was impressed. Very good, would order again. Spent a few hours here. I'd come back if I have another flight delay!

A'la Carte house made fresh Tamale on the left, and a Beef Tostada on the right, both perfectly seasoned!

Having a life-long enchantment with the cuisine of Mexico, coupled with the knowledge of having been in the country-city and rural-I can claim knowledge of what authentic Mexican food and beverages taste like. Typically roundly seasoned with flavorful herbs and a variety of spices, with cooking that balances tender meats and seafood with enhanced dimensions of flavor often in surprising ways Moving to the area a year ago, we were disappointed with the local offerings since they predominantly fall into the category of Americanized Tex-Mex, equally at home with a beer or a fruity attempt at a Margarita. We have tasted the best, and (if possible) avoided the worst. Today we located the food-experience we'd sought!! Home! I'd read of a new Pooler restaurant by the junction of Benton Blvd. and Pooler Parkway that had only opened less than two weeks ago, named El Mezcal. So we tried and found that which we'd sought. It's in a strip center by the Pooler Savannah Tire location, so it's easy to find and easy to stream back into traffic from. Being so new, we didn't know what to expect, but it was a DELIGHTFUL experience. All Mexican restaurants will bring you chips and salsa upon being seated, but biting into my first chip with the first dip, signaled that this would be a meal unlike any other Mexican experience in the area. The chips were freshly made, thin and crisp, accompanied by a succulent, freshly house-made salsa redolent with fresh herbs, garlic, cilantro and a slight hint of citrus. Imaginative and authentic!! We knew we were in for a far different experience with El Mezcal than we'd found till now. Transport to the lands of Mexican cuisine with flavors! The menu features a wide variety the familiar (house made superb Tamales) and new like Mexican takes on grilled steak, vegetarian dishes, including a wide variety of Mexican seafood dishes including Shrimp soup. The menu includes a surprising variety of children's meals. Professional and personable servers and a wide selection of specials at lunch (daily 11am-2pm). I'm still basking in the memory of the Margarita. Very well blended, full bodied with fruit and the right blending of adult ingredients so that you know they are there. The Medium was about the size of a 16-oz pint glass and well worth the $6.99 price asked. At the end of our meal the owner, Louis, came over to check on our experience. He's a very gracious and friendly food service entrepreneur and very polished in his experience! He loves this country, having lived here for many decades and takes great pleasure out of making his customers feel welcome, at home and well satisfied. We are. And with this new restaurant, we've found a home for our South of the border flavor excursions!

We came here for lunch recommended by a friend. We're visiting from California where there's great Mexican restaurants almost at every corner. And man, this was one of the best Mexican food we've ever had. Everything was very flavorful, cooked perfectly, came out hot. The server was very nice and attentive. We'll definitely come back.

    Barria tacos?

I really wanted to like this place. I was so excited when I saw birria tacos. I've eaten them plenty, so I know what they should be like. And this wasn't it. This was corn tortilla tacos with meat. I missed having them grilled and having cheese. There was also a lot of fat in the meat. Next, they have a bar. I'd expect them to make a margarita. Not use a premade margarita mix. It was warm and not good. On the plus side, I liked the free chips and salsa.

Omg a MUST THE BEST chicken soup I promise

Thanks to some friends who invited us here, it's not my fave Mexican restaurant in the area ! They have great service, delicious food and great prices. I ordered the Mezcal Special # 14 and it was delicious! I think each time I go it's going to be hard for me to try another meal cause I liked #14 that much. Our friends enjoyed their margarita tower very much. Said it tasted perfect. Definitely try them out before the other Mexican places in the area if you are craving Mexican.

They recently opened up, I came here on the recommendation from fellow town residents in the Facebook group for Pooler. Right across the street from Savannah Tire and Sunoco gas station. We opted for take out today. The restaurant is very clean, the staff is very friendly and happy to assist you. Waiting for the order went by quickly, maybe ten minutes and my food was ready. They were not too busy at the moment, about 2pm. The food was great, everything was hot and fresh, very flavorful. The portions are pretty big too. A large serving of beans and rice came with my enchiladas. The ground beef has so much flavor too. We will be back again and soon!

Hi Everyone, We had…read morevery close friends staying with us who we had not seen in over a year. One couple had just gotten married three weeks earlier, and were retuning from a Florida Honeymoon. Unfortunately, a very bad snow storm up north prevented us from attending their wedding. So we were thrilled to have them staying with us. We all went out to dinner Friday night, and Saturday night to celebrate, and then afterwards, we all enjoyed drinks in our home. On Sunday morning, we all cheered on the US Olympic Hockey team as they won the Gold metal! We then, all relaxed in our Carolina room, looking out on our pond like children wanting to go outside to play but it was very abnormally cold for us here, in The Low Country. We all talked for hours on end, played Cards Against Humanity, etc..., forgot about the World, and unlike children, drank a few as we all sat back, relaxed, and throughly enjoyed each other's company. However, my stock on two liquors everyone was enjoying ran much lower than I expected. They had all planned to leave Sunday morning however, now, yet another snow storm raged in their area so they all were going to be staying with us for a couple more days. None of our liquor stores in our were open on Sunday, so one of our good friends drove with me to Pooler GA to replace our libations. We got to Pooler Spirits Warehouse when it was opening. Their store is very neat, clean, and well organised. Amy our attendant was very friendly, and courteous actually taking the time to show us where our two types of liquor were located. We all swapped jokes at checkout while the card transaction was delayed (I guess the very tiny Engineer in the CC machine was still attending church), and we're on our way back home. So when your friends are unexpectedly staying longer than planned, or for any reason, you may need more liquor, we can highly recommend Pooler Spirits Warehouse. I know they save my forgetful bacon, and helped us extent a great honeymoon celebration and time with great friends. Enjoy!
