Stopped by on a very cold day to warm up with some Mexican food and it did not disappoint. Started with chips, salsa and a small queso. The queso had a nice spicy kick while the salsa was mild. My friend had the steak quesadilla and she said it was very good. I had the mole poblano with chicken. Very good and way more than I could eat. We were not drinking alcohol so no margaritas though nearly everyone around us had them. The restaurant is small but clean and comfortable. Our server was friendly and efficient. Service is fabulous and the food was perfect. Here's the rub . We had a party of five and two of the guests in our party had to use the bathroom. Both bathrooms had been occupied for an inordinate amount of time. I went back to the bathrooms , banged on the door and lo and behold two employees were in them taking a break. I was fit to be tied. The restaurant shouldn't allow that behavior to the prejudice of paying customers. I'll go back but the bathrooms need to be available for guests not employees. We were seated pretty quickly, which was nice, but unfortunately, the overall experience was pretty underwhelming. They do give you free chips and salsa, which were actually pretty good. We added a side of queso, but at $7 for a very tiny serving, it just wasn't worth the price -- even though the queso itself tasted great. I ordered the steak quesadilla, and it was disappointing. It barely had any cheese -- in some parts, there was none at all. It comes with what they call a "guac salad," but it was literally less than half a tablespoon of guacamole on a small bed of lettuce and tomatoes. No sour cream was included, which is typically standard with this kind of dish. I asked for some sour cream and was told it would be an extra charge. We just wanted a small bit to add on the side, but the smallest portion available was still too much for what we needed and cost $1.50 or 3$ for a bigger serving. We opted for the bigger one since i needed two. But now it felt like a tub of sour cream,It just felt excessive. The tacos come plain -- just cilantro and onions, no other toppings or options. We also tried the margaritas, which were way too sweet and didn't taste like they had any alcohol in them at all. Overall, it just wasn't worth the price for what we got. Every time we get a particular male server it is like begging him to attend to us. He never comes to check after the food comes out. He always sits at the front playing on his phone, out of sight, and avoiding eye contact. I genuinely think he hates his job or something. I'm not sure why this is happening. Delicious food and margaritas. I was there on vacation and was missing Mexican food. I usually like my salsa spicy, just ask for a spicier salsa than the one they serve you with chips.....soooo good. I had a chicken dish with mushrooms, bell peppers and quash. The chips are freshly made and so are their tortillas. The food is very authentic. After bar hopping in downtown Savannah, we needed a quick dinner. Stumbled upon this restaurant on Yelp and decided to give it a try. When we arrived, there were a few customers waiting outside for tables so we were worried there would be a long wait but it was only about 20 minutes so we walked Nextdoor for a drink before our table was ready. Our sever was nice and didn't mind that we just wanted to split a few menu items. The queso dip was a good consistency but it was a bit cold. The nachos were giant and the loaded with toppings. I wish I never had dinner here last night. The only decent thing about our experience was our drinks. The salsa tasted as if they doctored up a jarred salsa - that should have tipped us off but nope we didn't take that as a sign. We ordered Queso fundido as an appetizer and the molcajete for dinner. Unfortunately, our buffoon of a waitress didn't enter that in correctly so they came out at the same time. Yes - two searingly hot sizzling to the touch plates came out to our tiny table for two leaving no room. Having had molcajetes throughout the states as well as Mexico this was by far the worst we've ever had. The salsa was bland with no level of heat even if you request it. The meat was over cooked just completely dry while in the salsa. Additionally, whoever was heating up the tortillas in the back did so worse than my toddler nieces in Mexico - what do you all do back there throw them in the microwave for 10sec so they crack and stay cold?!? On top of all the disappointment, our server forgot to bring our credit card back when she brought us our receipt to sign. In the time it took for her to go find it and bring it back my card had already been swiped to pay for another check on "accident." What an absolute horrible experience. I love dining in when there's very few people and that was the case on this day. The staff literally had nothing to do until we came through the door. Our server Teray was nice and easy to talk to, he suggested the Arroz Texano bowl for my friend and he really liked it. My carnitas was some of the best I've had in a very long time. It was juicy, full of flavor and they didn't skimp on the meat like some places do. I usually don't care for queso but there's was good and so was the salsa. The rice and beans (which is what I look for to be amazing always) was just alright. Some of the ingredients in the rice was overkill to me, like what's up with the potatoes? I'll pass on that. Overall the service was good, the food was hot and we enjoyed being able to dine in a empty restaurant. There were just a couple glitches during our visit and had it of been a busy night this review might've went the opposite way. Tequila Town made my weekend in Savannah, Georgia perfect! I LOVE Tacos any day, not just Cinco de Mayo, so it was only right I tried this place out. The aesthetics fit the traditional Mexican style and the place was packed and loud but luckily we were seated right away. Our waiter was a bit slow but I was enjoying the company of my besties and the place was crowded so a wait was expected. I ordered the El Pastor Tacos (my fav) and fresh Guacamole, made right in front of you. (Yum) The beef was cooked well but there wasn't much flavor, which was a disappointment. The guacamole was really good and made up for the Tacos. My friend ordered the fried whole Tilapia and it was fried a little hard but seasoned nicely! I ate here in 2016 or 2017 and I didn't really remember it. That's probably the first red flag...but, when you're feeling Mexican you feel like eating Mexican. Pros: - Chips and Salsa were refilled constantly. Sometimes when you were even halfway done. - Prices are pretty good for 2024. You won't break the bank here. Cons: -FLAVOR. Someone on here said this place was lacking serious flavor. They weren't kidding. I don't even think they seasoned with salt or pepper. -SEASONING. For goodness sake. Season chicken. Please. It's so boring naked. - Boring. Everything about this place was boring. The food, the ambience, the atmosphere, the people eating there, the waiters...was just...meh. - You sit too close to others' tables. If you stretch you're bound to hit someone or hear their conversation for almost an hour. - Foot traffic. If you sit by or near the door you'll hear it/feel it constantly. I don't hand out twos very often, but man this place just wasn't good. We got chicken empanadas and they honestly didn't taste like anything. I ordered chicken tacos: chicken, cilantro, and onion. Guess what it tasted like? "Nothing, cilantro, and onion". My wife got steak fajitas and she was shocked that the meat wasn't seasoned or anything for that matter. We never put salt on our food (commercial/restaurant food is normally so salty anyway), but it needed it. Also, the ambience in here is just so boring. You'd never know you were in a Mexican restaurant. I hate being the negative review or person, but if I could time travel and grab myself from going in I totally would. I only hand out a 1 if a place is inedible, so a 2 star rating is as bad as it gets for me. I'm shocked they have a four on Yelp and stay crowded because if you're not at least seasoning chicken with salt/pepper then Gordon Ramsey needs to drop down and drop kick someone. I always love this place! Always sit at the bar every time and the bartenders are always the best - entertaining and will talk to you and make you laugh! My tried and true dish that I crave often is the molcajete - I ask for it extra spicy and it's amazing. Even good leftover! This is one of the few places where although I have a favorite dish, will still branch out and try other things. I haven't been let down yet. Everything I've tried has been at a minimum good, some great... but nothing that has let me down yet. Aside from that, it's a lovely inside with lots of seating and a tv at the bar if you're looking to be able to watch a game or something. A fun spot to spot in and grab some food and drinks if you're wandering around Savannah. Only thing I would say is that I wish they had a spicy salsa, I always ask for a habanero based spicy salsa (as opposed to the smoky dark red kind) but haven't been able to get it yet.
