Metropolis was a hassle free moving experience. Handled with ease from the time of my quote. Reasonable pricing as well. Shout out to my movers Jacob and Fred. read more

Metropolis Moving did an amazing job with our recent move from New Jersey to Brooklyn. The team which included Jacob, Kate, Will & Cathal were prompt, professional and extremely efficient. I highly recommend Metropolis Moving! read more

If you are going to use this moving company make sure to provide an accurate list of each and every item they will be moving. When the 2 movers showed up to move us 150 feet across the street, they nickel and dimed us for small items not listed. I ended up moving a good portion of loose items myself, that other moving companies would normally, and in the past, have just thrown in a cart and moved. Then after completing half the move myself, they broke for an hour lunch. Maybe we just had the wrong summer help movers, but it was a frustrating experience, and I would unfortunately recommend going with a larger moving company, in the end you will end up paying the same price. read more

People, just book them. From Olivia's email communications to Nick and Misha, Zach and Chris' actual move, everything about Metropolis is outstanding. I used them three months ago moved from Bushwick to Ridgewood, and recently hired them again for another move (yes I moved again in three months). The key reason why I booked them for the first move was because of Olivia's communication skill. She was straightforward and clear. Unlike other moving companies, Olivia's emails were very personable. There's nothing in her email that would make you go like "whaaaat??" It was simple, to the point and friendly. Both of the actual moves were easy breezy. Nick, Misha, Zach and Chris were friendly, on time, fast (but not rushing), careful and very mindful with what they're doing. They wrapped everything with blankets and planned out what to move first etc beforehand as a team. The way they work made me, as a customer feel taken care of. If you are planning on moving, just book them already. read more

Metropolis moving saved the day! A different moving company cancelled on me with less than a weeks notice and I had to scramble to find other moves. This team was able to complete my move on short notice. The team was quick and professional and took good care of my more expensive items. I had two uboxes worth of items and they loaded it in the truck, drove to my new location, and unloaded within a matter of a few hours. I will definitely book them again for my next move. read more

Wow! These guys take all of the stress out of moving and more! Great communication with their office (Olivia) on how the moving process works, time frames, cost etc. The day before the move Olivia reached out with the names and phone numbers of the two movers who would be getting us from the UES to Hell's Kitchen. Our move window was set from 10am-1pm, the movers were outside at 9:55am and ready to go right at 10. Somehow they managed to get us fully out of our apartment in less than an hour (while wrapping and taking great care of all of our stuff) and over to our new apartments in no time. Unfortunately we ran into some new issues at our new apartment (we were early for our reserved elevator time), but Chris and Jakob were patient and waited for the elevator to become available. They had everything up into our apartment in under 30 minutes, paid with a CC on their handheld device and off they went! Every single box has been unwrapped and nothing was broken. I would highly recommend using Metropolis Moving. Pro Tip- Purchase the labels pre-printed with room names on them from Staples/Office Depot, it will make it much easier for the movers when they bring everything into your new apartment. read more

Really great service from booking the date and time via phone and email with Uzi/Zach/Rob to the actual move with Will and Nate. They handled my move incredibly smoothly from my old walkup apartment to my new walkup apartment and were super upbeat and friendly throughout. Made what would normally be a stressful experience dare I say pleasant! Also very well-priced, and were quick to respond to my quote request (within a few hours, on a Saturday no less). Would definitely recommend and use again whenever the next move arises! read more

Never used a moving company before. Although, I know most of the moving companies are irresponsible and reckless with your belongings. This company was referred to me by a friend. On a moving day, two fellas came precisely on time, gave me 15 mins notice. Can't say enough about my experience. Guys were pros, fast, organized and respectful of our stuff. We have a super slim curved 65" tv, Vans and Jacob treats it like a baby)))) Overall big thumbs up, absolutely will use them again. read more

Metropolis Moving was recommended to me by a co-worker who has moved several times with using several different companies. He said they were the best. I went through the website to request a quote--filled out an estimated amount of things that needed to be moved as well as the two locations--and Matt got back to me in under an hour with a highly competitive fixed price. If I had any changes to the inventory being moved, it would be an easy email to update him and he will adjust the price accordingly as long as they were notified a day in advance. I had a couple of questions concerning the preparation of the move (i.e. mattress bags, assembling / disassembling furniture) and he was very patient and very detailed in giving me answers. he provided a comprehensive list of things to keep in mind before they arrived. If the other reviews on this page are anything to go by, then the professionalism extends to moving day as well. Unfortunately, my moving plans ended up changing (got rid of most of our furniture, didn't really need to move anything). However, I've had a such a painless experience with these guys so far that I will definitely be keeping them in mind for my next move. P.S. Their website has a lot of helpful information and tips to help anyone preparing to move. read more

Stellar service from first email to last box delivered!!! From communications with Olivia (there were a couple miscommunications but she went above and beyond to make everything right and quickly, taking ownership of the mistake - HUGE in interpersonal relations) to Matt and Cathal showing up within the agreed upon window - truly a 5 star experience. The guys were courteous, personable, nice, cleaned up after themselves (tape, blankets, plastic et al) and lightning fast. I could tell from the outset that this company cares about their workers as well as the people they're moving and their property. They took care with my things as well as my new landlords' newly refurbished brownstone steps - WITHOUT me ever having to say a word. I will definitely use them in the future and recommend them to everyone I know. THANK YOU OLIVIA, MATT & CATHAL!!! read more

Moving sucks...these guys don't. Great service from beginning to end, clear communication and pricing, they sent the COI right to my new building which saved me a step. I received the movers names and contact info prior to move, they were on time and sooooooooo efficient. My couch was a pain to get out of my tiny apartment door but they got it done. They made it to my new place even faster than we did and had everything in and exactly where I wanted it to go in no time. Nothing broken, nothing lost. I hope to never move again but if I do I'll be returning to metropolis moving. Thanks! read more

Such great movers, they work really fast, efficiently and really take care of your things. They fully wrap and protect all the furniture. They also have very fair pricing compared to some others I checked out, but just be accurate in your description of what you'll be moving because they will charge you if it's more than expected. Highly suggest using them read more

Hands down the best movers ever! I was moving from Hoboken to Brooklyn and they handled the move seamlessly. Extremely reasonably pricing, which is quoted based on the items they are moving and the number of floors, and great customer service. Matt, who I believe is the owner, was consistently available for contacting and made the process extremely smooth. Then on the day of the move, we had two movers (Steve and Chris) who were extremely professional and efficient considering the number of items we had. They took time and extreme care in wrapping all my furniture and handled all my items as if they were their own. Nothing was damaged at all and there were absolutely no complaints. If you are moving to or from the NY Metro area...these are the guys to use! read more

I was a little suspect of the reviews because I know often times companies ask for them but not once was I asked for one during my move- makes it even easier to want to leave one! This was easily the best moving company I've worked with. Not only were they affordable, but they were fast, professional and on time. Everything from the quoting process to the move itself was seamless and easy. The movers were very nice and clearly have the NYC walk up moving down to a science. Highly recommend. read more

Had a wonderful experience using Metropolis Moving. I used them to move locally in Manhattan, from a 2 bedroom to a studio. Quick and easy to communicate for a quote based on inventory list (which changed a couple of times). The pricing was fair and affordable. On moving day, Zach kept me updated on arrival times, which was extremely helpful. The move was quick, painless, and easy. Zach and Jason took extra care with some fragile family heirlooms that were covered in glass. They also successfully navigated a narrow elevator opening with some bigger furniture pieces (mattress and wide couch). Best experience I've had with a moving company, period. read more

I had a wonderful experience with Metropolis Moving. The communication prior to the move with Barry was great. He was very responsive and so patient with me when I had a million questions. I felt really confident going into moving day. On the actual day the great communication continued. We received several updates throughout the day as our arrival window approached. Once Chris and his guys arrived they were so fast, efficient and extremely friendly. These guys know their stuff! They were not only the most affordable option I found, but their quality and service also exceeded my expectations. Definitely recommend! read more

highly recommend! they were incredibly over communicative and helpful with the entire process. they are also the most reasonable price compared to some significantly over priced other companies. ill definitely be using them again. read more

Can't say enough good things about Metropolis! No need to look anywhere else. This company is the best at moving in NYC, hands down! From the open and transparent communication at the start, to the amazing team that shows up to move you. They know how to navigate the challenging and tricky NYC move. Can't thank them enough for helping us get through this process with a few less tears. read more

Metropolis Moving was highly recommended by my close friends who hired them over the summer. I shopped around a bit and was immediately impressed by Matt's timely thorough responses, patience with my questions, etc. I've had some bad experience with movers in the past, so I wanted to be totally sure that I made the right decisions. I was pleased to see all the great reviews on Yelp. I did end up getting a *slightly* lower quote from another company, who didn't have as great reviews, so I was hesitant to use them anyway, but Matt kindly matched the price, which was really going above and beyond. (The quote he'd given me was already reasonable and one of the best we'd gotten, but he clearly understands what it is to be on a NYC budget where ever dollar counts.) Our movers were Chris and Mikko, and they were fantastic! Communicated their ETA before arriving, took care of all of our furniture, and were fast and honestly made it look easy. On top of all of that, they were just really friendly and nice, which of course is important when you are trusting somebody with your belongings! It was overall a great experience. We're not planning on moving again soon, but when we do, I know my first call will be to Metropolis. I'll be recommending the company/specific movers to any of our friends/family moving, too! read more

Could not have been a more positive experience. I'll start with the website which is probably the most straightforward moving website available. Filling out the inventory was a piece of cake and I was quickly contacted with an online quote. The quote was one of the lowest that we received which was great, but always raises an eyebrow. I ended up emailing Matt back and forth many times with questions and he supplied quick clear replies to all of my questions. After looking at 5 or 6 companies we decided to go with Metropolis. The week of the move, I realized that we weren't taking as many big furniture items as we had originally thought but we were going to have more boxes. I emailed Matt to tell him of the changes and he gave me a new quote which was less than the original. I should note that if you stay true to the list, the quote is locked in and will not change on moving day. Moving day greeted us with a couple of inches of snow. Despite the weather the movers (2 guys) were on time and in good spirits. We had originally planned on taking some items to our new place in our own car, but because of the snow that became a problem. I asked Matt if they could add the extra stuff and we quickly worked out a cost adjustment that was incredibly reasonable. The move itself was extremely smooth. I've never had movers take so much care with my property. Everything was wrapped and protected and despite the weather everything made it safely and dry to our new place. I hope that I don't have to move again for a long time, but if I do, I will absolutely call Metropolis Moving. Best movers that I have every dealt with! read more

I researched nearly 20 places in nyc/BK before going with Metropolis. Olivia was amazingly easy to deal with over email and while I was originally bummed out to find out there were only two guys moving us (some companies provide three but are not flat rate), they ended up being extremely fast, really nice, and most importantly - careful with our things! We used them for a two stop move (two stops into one place) and everything went really smooth. I would definitely use them again, and will be recommending them to friends. Trust all the five star reviews. read more

There's a reason these guys have all 5 star reviews! Matt and his team are simply awesome, and everything about the process was easy for me. This was much appreciated, since it was my first time hiring movers. The inventory you fill out on the website for quotes actually has all the stuff you need to list, like the Ikea Expedit cubes (is it a bookshelf? a cabinet? I didn't have to figure it out, because they have it on the site.) I filled out a few others, and theirs was by far the most helpful, even including photos so you can figure out if you have a large or small cabinet, etc. I got my quote quickly afterwards, and all subsequent questions were responded to very promptly. Then there was their attitudes, which were awesome. My wife and I own way, way too many books, and they never complained about moving 15 boxes of them. I have two cats, and they helped by emptying rooms systematically so I could shuffle them around my railroad apartment. Really nice guys. All my furniture arrived in my new place exactly the same as when it left, due to the careful wrapping jobs on the part of the movers, with plenty of clean blankets. My belongs are not that vaiuable, but they treated them with tons of care. Their pricing was right in line with other comparable companies, and I liked the peace of mind of a flat rate quote. Just make sure you're honest about all the stuff you own, and you'll know exactly what you'll be paying come moving day. I could go on and on, but really, just hire them already! Totally worth every cent. I'll be recommending them to everyone I know. read more

Working with Metropolis Moving was amazing - they communicated quickly and were very easy to work with. The estimate was excellent for our move from East Harlem to Jersey City. We moved with short notice and Metropolis Moving was able to fit us in on the day we needed to move. They worked with me on my inventory (which I changed a few times and they were great about it) and gave me all of the information I needed. Corey and Darryl were our movers and they were EXCELLENT. Friendly, professional, hilarious and great to talk to while doing the move. They did everything quickly and efficiently and checked in with me throughout the process regarding ETA, getting pieces into the truck, going through the inventory and then placing things in our new apartment. They worked so hard to get us into our third floor walk up (not an easy feat with our stairs) and did it quickly. AMAZING and would recommend again. Thank you Corey and Darryl for being so great to work with! read more

I could not be happier with Metropolis Moving. I've used them twice in the last year, and will not be using anyone else so long as we live in NYC/Brooklyn. They showed up on time, are incredibly genial and friendly, utterly professional, work their asses off, make quick work of the move, and do so all with a smile. Their quote is fast and accurate, they handled insurance in our new building seamlessly... I just can't say enough good things about these guys. Two thumbs sky high. read more

We could not say enough about Matt and his crew - they are true life saviors. Besides the fact that they are cool, calm and collected they gave us the best deal for our move from Williamsburg to Bushwick. They are also crazy creative when it comes to problem furniture. Case in point: Our sofa would not fit through the front door of our 1st floor apt so they took it upstairs and moved it through the back window while Matt stood on a freaking latter trying to catch it. It got into our apartment from the backyard unscathed. They are really incredible and will recommended them to evryone! read more

Had a great experience with Metropolis. From Olivia, the scheduler, to Chris and Cathal, the 2 movers. They worked tirelessly and efficiently. They were very careful with all our items and treated them with great care. Although a mirror was cracked during the move despite best efforts to wrap It in multiple moving blankets, Matt, the owner refunded the cost for a replacement piece immediately and with no hesitation. Would highly recommend them and use them again. read more

Having lived in NYC for over 30 years, I've had many occasions where I needed the services of a moving company. My experiences have run the gamut from "adequate" to downright scary (I once got locked in the back of a box truck by one notorious--now shuttered--company that demanded an extra $1000 to unload my items when we got to my new location. When I tried to unload them myself, they pulled down the door and "took me for a ride" through the Bronx, until they eventually shook me down for an extra $700!). THE GOOD NEWS: There actually IS a company in New York City that is honest, friendly, economical and almost unbelievably good--and that is METROPOLIS MOVING! My many concerns and worries were instantly put at ease by Uziel, who runs a very tight ship and maintains a helpful and positive demeanor throughout. I don't hesitate for a second to give Metropolis five stars--for single-handedly making my move the smoothest one I've ever had. You can check quotes with all the many other moving companies around town--though I'd suggest instead that you save your time and put your trust in Metropolis. Not only was I totally happy with their service, they actually eliminated my future fears, should I ever need a mover again. They are that rare company that is so head-and-shoulders above the rest, they're in a league of their own. If you have a move coming up....stop right here! Ask to speak to Uziel, who will make your move an easy and economical one. THANK YOU, METROPOLIS! You're the best!! read more

My wife and I used Metropolis Moving three times over the last three years with the last one being a move from NY to Miami. Matt (owner) and John packed everything, drove the truck themselves and unloaded everything in Miami. Needless to say, everything arrived in perfect condition. Not a single scratch to our furniture or to the walls. They carefully wrapped everything and carried them through the hallways. Extremely professional, punctual and just plain good at what they do. I highly recommend that you give these guys a chance if you are unsure who to hire for your next move. You can thank me later (and Metropolis Moving for their perfect moving services)! read more

Had a wonderful experience with Metropolis Moving the other day. They arrived promptly when scheduled and moved all of our belongings efficiently and with great care. They were extremely professional, kind, and eager to make the move as easy for us as possible. This is an excellent moving company with great staff, and I would surely use them again for any future moves! read more

Without a doubt, the most professional, courteous, efficient group of movers we have ever had. We had a two stage pickup upstate and a pretty tough delivery on a very steep driveway, during extreme heat and humidity. We have never seen such quick, careful, friendly hard-working movers! read more

We hired Metropolis for our move from Astoria to Connecticut. They gave us a reasonable quote (we did go over it a bit, and even our overage charges were completely reasonable). These guys are amazing. I had to do a fairly last minute move from midtown to Long Island. The things I had to move changed many times and both Olivia and Uziel were always patient and kind providing me with adjusted (reasonable) flat rate quotes (which I preferred given unpredictable traffic situations) The day of the move Jakob called me giving me an estimated time they'd arrive (within the scheduled window). Jakob and Misha arrived, made quick work of packing everything carefully and professionally in the truck. They took the same care in unloading my items in a quick, safe, and organized fashion. All in all it was such a pleasant experience with everyone at Metropolis, I will absolutely use them again and am so happy to recommend them to anyone. read more

Moving can definitely be a stressful time and finding a moving company that is reliable and affordable is like a blessing out of heaven. I decided to give Metropolis Moving a try after the recommendation of another moving company I used in the past. I am very happy I went with the recommendation. I submitted the on-line request and received a prompt response from Matt (owner) who provided me with a quote and asked for some additional information to help plan for the move. Matt was very helpful and extremely patient as I edited and changed my list of items as my moving date approached. I was moving within the same borough (Manhattan), but from an elevator building to a 5th floor walk-up. I was completely stressed out about it. Matt and his partner arrived promptly and on time. They moved everything with ease and were very careful with all my belongings, even helping to take my dining table apart and putting it back together at my new place! This moving company exudes great service and hospitality and would definitely recommend it to anyone out there looking for a responsible crew that will not leave big holes in your pockets. I sure hope I don't have to move again anytime soon, but if I do I'm happy to know these guys are around! read more

Metropolis makes moving as easy and seamless as abc 123! From their communication via email and over the phone, to their user friendly website allowing you to submit every anticipated item and map out location to create a quote, down to allowing you to change that estimate and a quick recalibration/confirmation of cost changes! This company does it right! As for the actual move they have all the tools necessary, they're smart, they protect your stuff and they're quick. When I first used them to move 1.5 years ago they were great, price was amazing our move was about a 15 mile drive from a house to an apartment. When I recently asked for a quote for a move in our SAME BUILDING they have the audacity to quote literally $300 more then what I paid the first time for no driving and less work moving from one floor to another in the same place. It all worked out needless to say and I found a much better company that quoted me fairly. Obviously taking advantage during a pandemic. Wish I could give zero stars and this time they even added a driving fee. LAUGHABLE! read more

The reviews are correct. These are top notch moving professionals who are not only skilled at their job of unloading our POD from Texas in an efficient and careful manner but also stand by their customer centric service model. Due to a freak accident during their visit, the door of my building broke and required repair. The company handled this process extremely professionally (infinitely more so than the building management...) and ensured that the issue was promptly resolved. I can't recommend Metropolis enough. You get what you pay for in terms of quality and service and I strongly recommend you move forward with Metropolis today! read more

I would highly recommend Metropolis Moving to anyone considering a move in NYC or the surrounding area. I recently completed a move from NYC to a PA suburb. The team was very professional and treated my items with such care.... Including a delicate antique console radio from the 1930s which I was concerned about - with a fragile veneer and glass vacuum tubes. They packaged it safely and securely and it arrived perfectly. The team was very organized, and prepared for my move, it made the experience as stress free as possible. Metropolis was recommended by a friend and I couldn't be more pleased. The website made getting a quote easy and they contacted me promptly with a very reasonable price for my move. The day before I got an email to verify that they were coming, a nice reassurance before moving day. They arrived at the early end of the time window they gave me and promptly packed up my items, even a large, difficult wardrobe. On the other end of the move, Matt joined the other 2 movers to ensure the trip up to my new 5th floor apartment went smooth and quick. They were all friendly and professional the whole time. After unpacking, it's nice to find not a single item was damaged or broken. Great team of people, great price, and very professional. Definitely made moving day a stress free experience! read more
