I will NEVER move in this city without Metropolis if I can help it! I've used them 3 times and they have been amazing every time but they went above and beyond with my move this spring! My apartment was destroyed after the ceiling fell in and I had nothing packed because I hadn't intended to move so quickly. But they were so understanding on the phone and showed up ready to go the morning of, did not charge extra despite the fact most of my belongings were quickly shoved in garbage bags, and helped me determine if something remained in good enough condition to move. They even helped move some destroyed furniture and my ruined mattress to the garbage! It really made a truly hellish situation bearable knowing they had my back during the nightmare move. They're the best and I will use them as long as they will let me! You've earned every one of these stellar reviews! read more

2026 Update: I've moved once again, and again went with Metropolis Moving after my fantastic experience last time - they delivered on every front once again! - Solid availability - Great communication (including the 3% fee this time around) - Top notch handling and care The ENTIRE move, from the movers arriving at my previous apt, to staging furniture and leaving the new apt, took 4.5 hours, by far the fastest and smoothest move I've had since moving to NYC. I had a very similar moving list to last time, and was charged ~1200 USD. A very special thank you to the movers - Ryan G, Tommy K, Zach G, did an incredible job. I genuinely couldn't ask for a better experience. Moving list: Large Dresser (two columns, 3 doors each column) Medium Bookshelf x2 Full size bed frame + mattress Office Chair Nightstand Large computer monitor (boxed) Desktop speakers x2 (boxed) Desk lamp Floor lamp x3 (one boxed, 2 unboxed) Art (1x framed, 3x in box) Mini Fridge Floor length mirror 2 Laundry Hampers Vacuum Cleaner Medium Trash Can Shoe rack 20 medium bins 3 luggage Luggage: 2 carry on, 1 full size 1 duffel bag 20 small and medium misc boxes 5 fifty-gallon trash bags (clothes) read more

I was totally surprised by how professional and personable the whole team was from start to finish. Everyone was kind, efficient, and careful with our furniture and boxes. It was really easy and pleasant to work with them. They are clearly hard working people and went above and beyond for us. Our NYC apartment had a very challenging set of stairs which were unusually narrow and steep and had sharp curves. They even moved extra stuff for us without charge. I would highly recommend them! read more

Moved from Greenpoint to Bed-Stuy. Amazing crew. Super efficient, hardworking! Would highly recommend.

This is our 3rd move with Metropolis! I've said it before and I'll keep saying it (especially after this move) - I will never move without Metropolis. They are INCREDIBLE. We had a complicated move- we needed two trucks, the trucks needed to be held overnight, my husband had woodworking supplies and I had a voice over booth that needed to be very carefully moved AND to top it off we couldn't start the actual move in to the new place until 4pm the next day! They never batted an eye - from the video walkthrough with Jesse to the incredible team who came for day 1 and day 2... we felt like we were in amazing hands the whole time. They handled all of our (endless) stuff with such care. It was such a well oiled machine!! Don't look any further - HIRE THESE GUYS. I promise - you'll thank me later!! While I hope we never move again - if we do... Metropolis will be my first call! read more

We had a great experience with Metropolis Moving! Our movers were Zach, Ricky, and Tanh. They were super friendly, efficient, and handled our large furniture with care. We had two drop-offs, one at a storage unit in East Flatbush and the other was within the neighborhood of Canarsie. The entire move was done before noon after an 8:30 AM start. I appreciated their flexibility throughout the process. We were able to update our inventory list multiple times as we sold items before the move, and they allow edits right up until 12 PM the day before. Their fast, clear email communication was a lifesaver for me, especially as a mom coordinating a big move on just 30 days' notice. Special thanks to Barry and Corey for all their hard work and seamless coordination throughout the process! Another thing to note is that they also offer packing services. Packing service is $300/hour for three packers (with a two-hour minimum), includes all the packing materials, and they typically pack the night before your move. Honestly, we were so scattered that we missed the chance to book this in time, but we intend to use this service with them the next time we move. My husband hired Metropolis for his parents' move back in May, and when we unexpectedly had to move ourselves this July, he was adamant that we use them again. It's clear now why he was so loyal to Metropolis--they earned it. Also, on a more personal note, I really like their light blue and yellow logo. It's simple, cheerful, and adds a nice touch of personality. We truly appreciated how approachable, organized, and easy to communicate with the entire team was. By the end of the move, it didn't even feel like we hired anyone--it felt like we were moving with the help of friends. Highly recommend them. Even if you're just thinking about hiring movers, they're your best bet for a smooth and stress-free experience. read more

Cannot say enough good things about Metropolis. We moved 2x 1BR apartments on the west side of Manhattan to a single 2BR in Dumbo. Initial quote process was thorough and fair - they did video walkthroughs of our spaces to help us build our inventories so we weren't guessing. Pricing is flat rate so no day-of surprises. Both the packing crews and the moving crews were fast, professional and friendly. We were in the midst of renovations in our new apartment, and they were very careful not to damage our new floors and cheerfully worked around painters. They are not the cheapest but you're not going to get any hidden charges, and the service is impeccable. Do yourself a favor and pay the premium for movers who will happily roll with they punches and make it work. read more

Barely ever write reviews but had to for Metropolis Moving. I have done two moves with them and they have had the most competitive pricing and an awesome staff. read more

I had the best moving experience today with Metropolis Moving! Tommy, Alan and Noel were the dream team I never knew I needed:) They were punctual, professional, respectful, efficient and made this process so easy and stress free for me. They moved all my stuff from my 3rd floor walk up 2 bed into my storage unit perfectly. I will only use this company and this team moving forward. Prices are fair and reasonable. The whole process from booking to the actual move day was great- great communication, great service, just a superb experience overall! read more

Moving from Brooklyn to Somerville MA was so easy with Metropolis Moving! They arrived promptly with communication on both ends, and were so professional. I really appreciated their attention to detail in wrapping up all of my furniture, keeping things safe and secured in a long distance move. All three guys were so friendly and crazy efficient! I highly recommend. read more

Choosing Metropolis Moving was one of the best decisions I have made. Metropolis was receptive and responsive to my inquiry and concerns. They provided me with a quote customized to meet my moving needs. Corey and Barry were great at providing me with all the information I needed and would follow-up with me. The movers assigned to me Christian and Kavan were professional, efficient and friendly. Without hesitation, do I recommend Metropolis Moving. read more

Tommy K, Ryan G, Cristian M. took amazing care of me and my things. They carefully moved all my boxes and furniture and were so professional and nice. In my view, this is the best moving company in the area. Not the cheapest, but the quality is unmatched. read more

Highly highly recommend! Swift, easy, personable, quick replies via email. Overall, EXTREMELY satisfied with everyone and the move they helped us with. read more

I hired Metropolis for a move and paid for packing and unpacking services because I'm recovering from an injury. The hourly packing/unpacking and flat-rate moving tasks ended up being mixed together, which seemed to result in a final cost significantly higher than the original quote, even though no inventory changes occurred. The packing and unpacking felt disorganized and chaotic. I had clearly requested that my bike equipment be kept separate and left packed due to my injury and the risk of losing small parts, but this request was not followed, which added significant time. My bike trainer was also placed precariously on top of an AC unit without any padding, and I now need to inspect it for damage, which is tricky due to my injury, and concerning given the cost and difficulty of repairing it. Many everyday items were unpacked onto high shelves that I cannot easily reach, and much of the unpacking remains incomplete or needs to be redone. Additional issues included significant AC water spilled on wood floors after towels were packed (and no other floor protection put down) and items left behind without my approval, which I had to manage myself. Overall, the move felt disorganized and fell short of professional moving expectations. ETA: because the owner has claimed he waived a stair fee at the new building: before the move, I had emailed the company, "I'm unsure if the service entrance at the new building will involve stairs -- if we could please leave the related price adjustment for that as TBD when we're there." At the actual move-in, it turned out the building has a service ramp, so there were no stairs involved. Charging an additional stair fee at the new building would have been inaccurate. read more

Metropolis Moving made my move from NYC to NJ a breeze! Eddie and Nick were not only expert movers but also so funny and kind, it was like moving with friends! Nothing was damaged and they even helped to organize everything how we wanted in the new place. Cannot recommend this company enough! read more

We've had a fantastic experience with Metropolis Moving! Not only did they take on unusual request to move 5 surfboards from NYC to MA, but they were professional, on time, trouble-shooted problems and reasonable in terms of costs. We whole-heartedly agree with the other positive reviews. If we ever need a move anything again, we will definitely call Metropolis Moving! read more

Metropolis Moving made a tough and challenging move easy. I had just two weeks to move out of my NYC apartment with three separate drop offs in New Jersey, including a massive massage chair that needed to be disassembled and reassembled. From Jake in Sales to Corey in Operations, the planning was seamless. The crew of Christian, John, and Adam were outstanding, professional, careful, and organized. They treated my apartment and belongings like their own, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. I have been through several moves and this was by far the best experience I have had. Five stars only because ten was not an option. Can't say enough about the team at Metropolis especially Christian, John and Adam. A successful company needs good people, an effective process and a good product......Metropolis excels in all three areas. I highly recommend them read more

Brandon and Eddie were great movers and Barry and Corey were great admins! Everyone is really friendly, personable, and super professional. I used Metropolis for a long distance move - Washington DC to Massachusetts- and Metropolis made it so easy. Even though they are a NY based group, their price estimate was more reasonable than any of the numerous local moving companies I tried! Next time I have a friend moving, I know who to tell them to call! read more

Zach, Ricky and Marshall moved us today and were fantastic. They were communicative, professional, friendly and ridiculously efficient. They were also just genuinely great dudes who were a pleasure to work with and who made what could have been a very stressful day calm and easy because we knew we were in great hands. Would recommend to anyone! read more

Metropolis Moving helped me move from Connecticut to NYC and they couldn't have made it easier. I asked for a quote online and they were very responsive and friendly, unlike some movers who never reply back. Their price wasn't bad either. I changed the packing list many times and it was never a problem (they allow you to change it up to 24 hours before the scheduled move). On the day of the move, it was unfortunately raining heavily, but the guys still did a great job. Very efficient and strong! They had furniture pads to protect items and even allowed somethings that were not on the packing list to be placed in the truck since there was room. Throughout the move, they were communicative and gave me a heads up when they would arrive or if there were delays. I would definitely use them again. Thank you, Bryan, Jesse, Ricky, and the rest of the Metropolis Moving team for such an easy, low stress move! read more

We moved from a 2 story unit into a house within Ridgewood Queens and the movers were exceptional. They were adequately staffed to ensure our move was timely and we're flexible to the changing dynamics (unexpected road closure on our block). They were careful with our items, wrapping things well, and mindful of ceiling heights and sensative belongings. Highly recommend! read more

Used these guys again in January and they're still the best. Rick was our driver and there were 2 other guys with him (forgetting their names unfortunately) - they patiently and efficiently packed up an overstuffed 1 bedroom and moved it to the new location with no problems. We ended up having about 40 reusable shopping bags worth of stuff on top of our bins but they didn't flinch and only added a reasonable extra fee. They reconstructed a huge bed frame, helped us take shelves down and remove an A/C (they had included these services in the fee for us ahead of time). The move took about 8 hours but it would have taken me a week on my own. Highly recommend this small business. Really top notch service from getting a quote, communication in planning, to the end of the move. Carefully wrapped furniture and art, respectful, friendly guys. And I don't sling these service complements easily. Thanks Metropolis - as always will refer anyone who needs movers your way! read more

This was my first time using Metropolis, and I had a great experience with Jake, Nick, and Kavan. Team JNK was fast yet careful, friendly yet professional, and worth every penny (especially for a woman doing a move alone). It was easy to get a quote and set up the time for my short-notice move. Great text communication throughout. Highly recommend. read more

After having a terrible moving experience with a different company on a previous move, my husband and I were very weary of trying a new company but so glad we did. If I could give them 10 stars I would! From correspondence to a fair price, Barry was very accommodating and communicative. Just finished my move earlier today with Jon, Chris, and Kavan. They were amazing! They came from a large job prior to ours and despite the long hours, they always had a smile on their face. They communicated their ETA and kept us in the loop. Efficient but meticulous. They made our move seamless and stress free. Their professionalism, expertise, and reasonable pricing make them a no brainer to hire as a moving company. Best moving experience thus far, highly recommend! read more

These guys were fantastic! They were really careful with our stuff, great job wrapping the furniture, hard working but also good attitudes. Made a stressful day much easier than i've experienced with other moving companies. We have not found a single scratch on any furniture or the new place, the boxes were put in the right spots (must admit my wife did an amazing job and organizing for the move), and the price was right. Best quote we got, and far and away, best movers I've ever had. read more

Metropolis Moving - Packing a truck is an art form, and they were geniuses! - Movers Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

[Update] The owner, Matt, contacted me right after my review and tried to fix the issue. I do appreciate Matt taking the time with customers to work things out. I may still recommend Metropolis to a friend, as at least Matt cared enough to try to fix the problem as much as he could. However, I would not recommend booking with Bryan's crew. They were neither professional nor transparent. I am still leaving two stars given my experience that day. - if the movers had wrapped my furniture more professionally with blankets instead of using just tapes, most if not all of the damage could have been prevented. - if the movers had been more transparent about the damage instead of hiding the damage all along, I would have been less disappointed. read more

Metropolis Moving made my request for a very last minute move a breeze. I was in a situation where I had to move within a week and they were open, honest and responsive, finishing the whole process from getting a quote to completing the move within a couple days. The quote was also extremely fair and definitely the best I have seen after reaching out to multiple moving companies. Brandon, Zach and Jonathan were friendly, communicative and courteous during the 1 bedroom move, making sure to be careful and respectful with my items and furniture (and my cat yowling in the bathroom), getting the job done in a couple hours. I have already recommended them to others I know, and will definitely be using their services again in the future. read more

I can't say enough good about this moving team. Jonah, Brandon, and Mike worked together to get some really difficult and large pieces of furniture out of our apt. I noticed that Mike Petrella said very little but had a noticeably positive attitude until the end. the Company made sure we understood why The price went up and were very reasonable. they also switched days last minute without charge! Thanks guys!! Highly recommend:) read more

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I completely forgot to leave this review 2 months ago when Metropolis Moving helped me move my 2 bedroom in Brooklyn to a 1 bedroom in Queens. Wow, they came highly recommended and I was not at all disappointed. I don't have much experience moving, and have never used movers, so I was extra anxious. They were so kind with all of my adjustments and questions, and very transparent on the pricing. Nothing snuck up on me, and they even helped us out with last minute hauling to the curb instead of into the truck. Oh and speaking of trucks, the driving was impressive! My new apartment is around several tight one way streets and I was nervous because the truck was bigger than expected - no problem for these guys. Anyway, the wrapping of all my big items were perfectly executed - they showed up super prepared. I was very thorough in telling them exactly what I had the night before when we were in our final packing stage, and they knew exactly how much wrapping needed to happen. Once they got started, it happened so fast and before we knew it, we were in our new place and had enough energy to celebrate and start unpacking. I had been agonizing over how exhausting the whole thing would be for months but once it was over, I was so relieved. Working with Metropolis Moving might be the best NYC service I've ever experienced and I can't wait for a reason to work with them again read more

Metropolis Movers are the most unreliable and unprofessional company I've ever had the displeasure to work with. They show up whenever they feel like it - never within the window that they promise - if you happen to be the last call on a Friday night like I was, they will look for any excuse to walk off the job, which is what they did. Metropolis movers showed up hours late which meant we couldn't use the driveway and they had to park on the street. The guys didn't want to do that so instead of discussing it with me the client, they simply got in the truck and left! Metropolis movers... you should change your motto to. "We only move you if we feel like it" Worst company, worst owner Corey, worst customer service. 1 million companies better than metropolis thanks for nothing you guys really suck. read more

These guys would get beyond five stars if it were possible. Have moved with them twice now, one year apart, and will definitely call for the next move whenever it happens, as well! Everyone is so polite, on the ball, and they were extremely flexible in accommodating unanticipated date changes for our move, even though it took place in super-busy summer moving time. Definitely recommend! Janet M. read more

I used Metropolis again this past summer and have been meaning to update my review... To another 5 stars!!! They helped me move from one storage unit to another after my storage unit was compromised. (Don't book a storage unit with extra space storage on wyckoff ). Guys were incredibly helpful and fast. On time and finished much quicker then I anticipated. I was able to go to the beach after. Highly recommend Metropolis Moving. Thanks to Cathal, Alan and Cliff for showing up and showing out. Will be calling next time I'm in need! read more

Every Metropolis staff member was so patient through the quoting stage and my countless revisions all the way to my doorsteps, old and new. For a couple thousand bucks I still had to make extra trips myself and deal with snotty attitudes. Refusing to take all of my items despite my already agreeing to pay extra for them (in writing) and being told they didn't have enough time to make a couple more rides down the elevator with their giant cart on wheels. Give me a break. Oh wait... that's reminds me... they ALSO damaged several items and left almost everything in the first floor of where I moved into. So I spent days carrying things up the stairs to where they needed to go - and like I said had to make multiple trips with my own car to go get the rest of the things from my old place that easily could have fit in the truck but they refused to take. You're better off renting a truck and paying the dudes outside to help. Complete waste of money. read more

We recently moved from a fifth floor walk up and used Metropolis. Alan, Ricky, and Corey were timely, efficient, kind, experienced, and all around great to work with. They completed our move in about 4 hours and kept all of our belongings in tact. They clearly know what they are doing, we will use again and highly recommend! It was easy to get a quote, update our item inventory, and the pricing was incredibly fair. Customer service response times were great and we were provided all the information we needed. read more

Metropolis is the best moving co in NYC. Hands down. I've worked with them a few times. On my last move, a marble table was damaged in transit. That can happen during moves - but it was a bad situation and I was initially pretty frustrated. The Metropolis team was super communicative - they responded to me same day, looked at a number of options and proactively communicated. Within a few days we agreed to a resolution that was fair. I'm sure these types of situations are rare, but they can happen. If you're looking on Yelp for a moving co, pick the one that will work with you if things go sideways - Metropolis. read more
