Day of, the team showed up within the window specified and were efficient and extremely helpful. these yelp reviews have GOT to be fake. this company showed up 8 hours late for a scheduled move. It is 12:48 am and the move is still underway. they were slated to arrive at 2pm in brooklyn and showed up at 11pm leaving no time for the cleaning service to do the required apartment clean up post vacate and the storage unit we have is now closed. in addition moving to a residential suburban neighborhood at 3 am is less than ideal. the movers blamed the back office and the back office closes at 5pm and leaves no email address or evening phone number so legit leaving folks stranded. yes you may get the cheapest quote but it's a trick. They make you pay them in advance and then they hold you hostage when they just don't show up or show up eight hours late. Stay away from this company at all costs unless you want your already stressful move to be an epic disaster!!! read more

Very quick, responsive, efficient, professional in email communications getting and finalizing the Quote, identifying our inventory to be moved, and getting a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for the building; they covered all the bases and questions up front. Clear and concise on details and expectations. Competitive pricing. BEFORE Move Day, texted with a confirmation of Date and Show Time, which was comforting. ON Move Day, communicated that they were on the way that morning, 30 minutes out -- then they were 100% on-time arrival, and they made quick and efficient work of the move out. Under 1 hour for a one bedroom apartment. It was like watching a well-orchestrated dance. They had the moves down! We used the BoxedUp system which is AWESOME. On delivery into new apartment, again, it was all "in" very quickly. Only issue we had was a couple of damaged lamps -- and Metropolis was responsive and swift in the resolution to get repairs done. All good. In addition they were all quite pleasant and friendly. We were in good hands, and they will see us again on our next local move! I recommend highly. read more

This is our third moving company in the last 15 months, with this trip being between the UPACK terminal and about 5 mi into Queens. I've learned a lot with these moves (most are not great memories) and for this one.... 1. They are registered with the DOT FMCSA government agency, so I trust they are who they are. 2. They are a moving company with their own trucks/movers and not a broker who finds you trucks/movers. 3. They had an online process that asked the right questions (inventory, location, how to get in and out, etc) and responded very quickly (same day). 4. The cost that was quoted was the cost that I paid, nothing hidden (I got hit with this before, not fun). It wasn't the cheapest (~$900 for 1br) but my past experiences taught me to gauge trustworthiness and use that as the primary decision maker. 5. There were 2 movers that came, good with communication, and they were able to assess the situation quickly and make good decisions on loading/unloading. No fuss, very professional, and worked with my anxiety and need to be there and around everything. Total garbage. They sent two college kids, one of whom was an obnoxious privileged elitist type who kept complaining about the work and seemed to imply it was somehow beneath him ("I'm a high performing English major from Minnesota. I won't be doing this for long!"). He continuously made random jokes that political correctness has run amok and that he isn't allowed to say anything any more (while making cringeworthy jokes that insult homosexuals and other groups). He broke my furniture (major crack in our bed frame), didn't apologize for it. Then at the end kept complaining about being hungry and asked us to order him dinner (we ordered him everything he asked for, which was quite a bit) then complained delivery was taking too long as he physically stopped unpacking or doing any work. Then he got angry and literally walked off the job, leaving his partner to pick up after him! Worst experience ever. Stay more than 6 feet away from these creeps. read more

This company helped relieve a lot of stress with moving. Metropolis moving were great! I booked them to move some furniture from a Ubox Container in New Jersey to our new apartment in Brooklyn. There were extremely responsive and worked with me on the itinerary/cost prior to the moving date. With moving companies, I'm usually worried about potential increases to the cost on the day of moving. That wasn't an issue with Metropolis. On the day of the move, the moving team of Nelson, Chris J & George were on time and very efficient. It took them very little time to load and unload the truck at either end. This included taking furniture/boxes up two flights of stairs. Nelson, Chris J & George were all polite, friendly and accommodated any requests that we had.
