We went to Metro this weekend for brunch. I am not a huge fan of breakfast food but my parents are, so they had been to another Metro location and knew there was plenty to choose from. Well in my option, unless you want breakfast or a burger there was not many option. Yes they had chicken n waffles for about $16. No thanks! I went with a club sandwich. I can't even remember the last time I had a club. But that was all I was going to eat. It was an okay sandwich. I didn't like it that all of the meat was stacked in the middle of the bread. It made it so large that you could not eat it. I had to take it a part to take a bit. And it was more that I could eat. I am glad my husband and I split it. The building is very small. They have added on to one side with a tent but it was too cold to sit outside. We had a 25 minute wait on a Sunday about 11:30 am. I will stick to Cracker Barrel for our Sunday brunch days. read more

First time visiting this location but I've been to multiple locations, several times. This was also the first time I tried their breakfast fare. The waitress recommended the cinnamon roll pancakes so I trusted her advice and went for it. And they were amazing!! Pancake shape and texture with cinnamon roll taste and icing on top! They were HUGE! I only ate half and saved the rest for breakfast the next morning. I was a little put off by the scent of burning food but overall satisfied. read more

Anyway back on track....We have tried Metro Diner a few times and they have provided consistent service each time. It is a little on the pricier side but their food is delicious and it is worth it! Each time we have visited we have been sat almost immediately. Our server has always been friendly and engaging with us. Food has always been delicious. We have mostly only tried their breakfast items, but I cant wait to go back and grab some dinner. My favorites have been the avocado toast and omelets. Try them out! You wont regret it read more

They were so accommodating. Opened the patio for us on a lovely autumn day; attentive, quick with the order, with coffee refills. Excellent biscuits and gravy, surprise awesomeness of avocado toast! This was my first visit to the Plainfield location. I've been to the Butler location several times and I've always been happy. This location didn't disappoint. I arrived right before the lunch crowd so my wait was only 10 minutes. By the time I was seated, the crowd was out the door. This is a decent size location with several booths and a majority of 4 top tables. Perfect to accommodate different size parties. The counter area is first come so grab a seat if you encounter a wait. I ordered the Mediterranean Omelette and it was loaded with spinach, tomatoes, feta cheese and mushrooms that I requested added. The eggs were perfectly cooked, not rubbery eggs, and I enjoyed. The portions are always on the large size and this omelette was no exception. I had to request a box to go. My server was on her game and keep my drink filled and checked on me often. When it was time for the check she didn't disappear after dropping off the check. She followed through from start to finish. Even though I had a great experience my family of 4 did not during an earlier visit. The server was young and inexperienced and made their visit miserable and left a bad taste in their mouths. I hope management can separate those struggling and retrain. I suggested to mt family to give Metro a second chance. I hope they do. read more

Been to Metro about 10 times. Tried numerous things on their menu , and they have all been good. The food comes out fast, and the service has always been great. I don't know what they do different for their staff, but there are plenty of people working there, no matter what time I go. read more

This morning I found the restaurant very clean and well stocked. I chose to buy an English muffin with cheese and sausage, a chocolate chip cookie along with a box of Buckeyes. All were very tasty I was just disappointed that English muffin was assembled and then microwave. It left the muffin a little chewy and tough. read more

We decided to try Metro Diner after reading the reviews for huevos rancheros, which my husband was really craving. And he was not disappointed, saying they were the best he's ever had! The chips are homemade, portions were huge, and he left happy. I had scrambled eggs, toast, and potatoes - again with huge portions. A great stop for a tasty breakfast with friendly and quick service. They have daily specials, as well as a great looking menu of regular breakfast and dinner items. Very excited to try this place out! The service is fast and friendly! My order of the regular cheese burger and side salad of homemade blue cheese dressing was great! I also enjoyed two seasonal Samuel Adams Octoberfest! I only have two complaints. First, the lettuce was not at its highest quality of freshness. Not a big deal but should have been noticed in the kitchen to pull out the wilted pieces. The second is there was a staff member that was calling for runners that was a tad bit over the top annoying. We were the closest table to the kitchen but I have no doubt that the guests on the opposite side of the diner couldn't hear him. My suggestion would be, if you get lettuce like I did, complain. If you want a peaceful quiet meal, ask to be seated far away from the kitchen or perhaps on their wonderful patio! read more

Mmmmm...Metro Diner is one of our favorite restaurants, especially for brunch, in the Indy & surrounding areas. They have a very affordable & diverse menu, so something for everyone :) One of my favorite dishes is Huevos Rancheros, lots of layers of chorizo sausage, black beans, eggs (your way) cheeses, a pretty pattern of crispy, flaky tortillas wedges & topped with salsa, sour cream & green onions. Our servers have always been nice, attentive & offer good suggestions. Tons of French toast choice too! Four stars this visit since my husband said his Southern Omelette didn't have much cheese or filling other than large pieces of ham. Hot chocolate with lots of whipped topping was a sweet treat! We tried the diner last night for dinner. Really impressed with the quality and how efficient they were. The wait staff use iPads, which sents the orders directly to the kitchen. I love that you can order any menu item anytime and they serve alcohol. Can't wait to come back and try breakfast with a mimosa. Just finished at IU in Indy so looking for a breakfast place on the way home. Place was clean, waitress attentive. I ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns. My husband ordered waffles and fried chicken. We had coffee to drink. They gave me a huge order of biscuits and gravy by mistake. I couldn't eat them all. They were good and were homemade but a little too thin. The chicken for my husband was a bit over cooked. Looked like it was likely frozen and deep fried. Waffle just average type. Nothing special and our bill was $35 not including tip. Pretty pricy breakfast for nothing too special. We won't go back. The average working class can not afford their prices. read more

This was a pleasant surprise. They offer a full menu all day long. I wasn't sure which soup I wanted to try. Without asking the waitress brought me samples of both. They were the tomato bisque and the chili. Both was delicious. I'm very picky about chili. The chili was well flavored, with the perfect amount of meat and beans. Then I ordered the shrimp and grits for my main dish. It was delicious as well. Plenty of large shrimp, with bits of sausage and bacon in the sauce. The grits were served as stacked fried grit cakes. This use to be my favorite go to breakfast. The last two times I have been here it's been a horrible experience. The last time I came was Jan. 6th. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and they changed the sauce. It use to have a nice lemon/sweet taste to it. It was dead and pasty. Took 2 bites of it and returned it. I was given a hard time from the waitress about a month ago saying I ate half. Sorry 2 bites is not half, but yet again it's not that big of a meal. So over a month later I came back tasted the sauce before ordering the dish. Tasted a little better but it's still missing something. I asked for a side of sauce with lemon. Squeezed just a little in there and much better tasting. I asked to please make sure the English muffin is toasted because if it's busy back there the buns don't get toasted. So the owner looks like he is finally taking some time off which is good. They have a really nice manager in there named Bryce. He is very attentive and on top of everything and won't put up with anything less than par. So the Eggs Benedict comes out, English muffin toasted nicely, but when I cut into it and the yolk was running perfect, the eggs were running white and not the white was not cooked all the way. Which is too raw for me. The waitress came by and here is where it went sideways. Rebecca is her name.....when taking the order she was coughing and coughing sucking on a cough drop out candy. That made always makes me nervous wondering if someone is sick working in the food business. I asked if she was sick, she didn't say anything so I figured it was allergies or something else. While waiting for food at the window she wipes her nose.....not a good sign. When I talked to her about the whites of the eggs running she just picked up the plate and left. I thought good gosh I am not finished talking to her. Very frustrating. When she came back and said they are remaking it. I told her I wasn't finished talking. She said she needed to get the plate back to the kitchen. Whether you let me finish talking or not the plate still would have gone back to the kitchen. That was not good customer service. The manager Bryce came by to bring the new dish, and I told him I wanted to tell the waitress that I still wanted the yolk running just not the whites of the egg to be running raw. I told him she just walked away and didn't let the customer finish talking. I was mad!! He understood what I was saying. He said from now on I need to tell the waitress I want it poached medium. The yolk was barely running, but at least the whites were cooked. I have never had to let a waitress know when ordering Eggs Benedict I want it poached medium. If kitchen knows how to cook the eggs right, then it comes out perfectly. The 1/2 Belgium Waffle for an up charge of $1.20 was the best part of the meal. I didn't know they had strawberry butter which was delicious. I did half regular butter and syrup and the other have strawberry butter. In the end my meal with an ice tea was $15.35. Lastly, the bathroom needed cleaning and restocking of toilet paper. It will be a very, very long time before I go back again. Emmy Pancake House will now be my local go too. Been there a few times and never disappoints. Just a longer distance to travel. The owner who works his tail off at this location has done a wonderful job over the last few years bringing this restaurant where it needed to be. I hope they just haven't gotten comfortable and gone back to their old ways. That waitress hopefully was just having a bad day. read more

As a breakfast restaurant waitress myself, I know how some days can be stressful serving. I understand that you can accidentally come off as being inattentive or rude because there's so much going on at once. I've visited this location 4 times now in the last 6 months and somehow the last couple of times I keep getting the same waitress. The first time I had her she gave us maybe a minute to look at the menu and when I told her I wasn't ready she said "well I thought you said you've been here before", came back maybe a minute later again and I said once again I wasn't ready and she replied with "did you even look at the specials board". Finally she gave my husband and I time to look and when she walked back over she said "okay little miss have you made up your mind". It was rude to the point that my husband even asked me what I did to tick her off. Ate there again today. Same waitress. After we received our food she never once came back to check on us to even see if the food was okay. We sat waiting on our check with empty stacked plates for quite some time. Granted she's standing by us talking to another waitress, walking by us plenty of times, and not once gave us attention. The front hosts were very kind and even the busers looked to be doing a great job of keeping things nice and clean especially with everything going on right now. I got a waffle that was pretty bland and had nothing special to it. For anyone reading this I do recommend the mimosas and the shrimp and grits, very good! Hey folks! Just wanted to correct myself on a few details when I went back and had this incredible dish again. The succulent, savory pieces scattered in the blanket of sauce were actually andouille sausage. Also, that sauce is not really called a gravy, but a bechamel sauce. And lastly, I believe there are 8 pieces of shrimp, not 7 like I had put in my previous review. Another dish I would like to put out in the limelight is the Yo Holla at the Square. OMG. The flavors, tender apples, and richness of this dish would settle any sweet tooth and fill any stomach for hours. Definitely a must try as well! My boyfriend and I were in Plainfield to have his car tinted at Ziebart's and saw Metro Diner was nearby and had good reviews, so we decided to stop in for breakfast before heading home. We came in on a slow Wednesday morning and sat outside on the patio because the weather was great. However, the patio had food crumbs on tables and trash blowing around in the breeze. Not great. We get our menus and I ordered coffee and the Bissell Breakfast (2 eggs of your choice, bacon, toast, hash browns, and a short stack of pancakes). I finished my coffee quite quickly and our waitress never came back to refill it during our stay. About 15 minutes pass by and another woman who works there came out to the patio to fill customer's coffee. Another 10 minutes went by after that and our food finally came out and our waitress asked if we needed anything. I said butter (there was none for the toast and it was not already buttered) and syrup for the pancakes. Both my boyfriend and I immediately noticed that the food was 1) kind of cold even though it was just served to us and 2) there was absolutely NO seasoning on anything. To try and combat the blandness, we looked for salt and pepper shakers and none were to be found. Our waitress came back and set the syrup and butter on the table and immediately walked away. I opened the butter to put on my toast and there was literally trash in the little cup on top of the butter... we did not see the waitress again for another 10 minutes. When I brought it to her attention and asked for a new one she took it and said she's so sorry and then disappeared and came back 5 minutes later with a new one and immediately left again. The fact that I was served that was never brought up again. When I finally started to eat my pancakes was when I was really over the entire visit. They felt like rubber. I couldn't easily cut into them with my fork and when I finally took a bite they were awful. Again not very flavorful, and they had a dense, rubber texture. Not light and fluffy like pancakes are supposed to be. Roughly 20 minutes later the waitress came back and sat the bill on the table in between us without saying a word and walked away. We had never eaten there before and didn't know if we were supposed to pay with her or inside? Then another 10 minutes passed and she came back with an iPad for us to pay on, so that answered our question. There was no deduction on the bill for being served contaminated butter or even an apology from the manger on duty.
