Definitely did not live up to the hype. The atmosphere is decent, as is the staff. The food was alright, but i will say the size of the pancakes is huge. read more

Amazing find on the way to the airport! I normally do a basic breakfast but decided to spice it up before we left. The portions are huge and enough for 2 people plus can't beat the price. Way better than your chain restaurants. Will be back every time I'm in town. read more

The food was excellent and Ava was a phenomenal server. It was a busy afternoon but she was still very attentive. We had brunch and will definitely be back. read more

Our Father's Day Brunch was perfect! Great food and service. The owner even stopped by to ensure our sons allergy needs were accounted for.

Stopped in for lunch having never been before and am happy I did! The wait staff were super friendly and very attentive. The dish was amazing, with a light crust. The coleslaw was fresh and delish and the Mango tea was awesome! Highly recommend!! read more

Metro Diner - Fish and Chips - Diners Near Me - Plainfield, Indiana

The food is great but the service isn't the best. I ordered a grilled cheese and the person I was with ordered the fried chicken sandwich. We were very happy with our food. My husband asked for honey mustard and it was never brought to the table. Our waitress was also blunt and pretty rude. She never came to check on us during the meal but stood there to collect the check. I left a small tip as a result. Next time, we'll probably just stick to carry out. read more

Huge helpings, biscuits and gravy were good and so was the waffles. Only had breakfast there

Quick, great choices, free sample coffee while you wait for your table? And... so you want avocado toast? Come to Metro Diner!! I was impressed by the speed of service. The servers use tablets to take your order, which means it goes straight to the kitchen, and straight to your table, fast! As for the menu, I was impressed for mainly a breakfast place, I never get poached eggs at home and normally don't see them on menus, so I ordered the San Francisco Benedict. Wow! If you love Avocados, tomatoes and Canadian bacon w/hollandaise sauce, you should try this, yum! If I am ever out this way again for breakfast or lunch, I'll definitely come here again. You pay for you meal right on the servers tablets with a card, no waiting for them to take your card or wait at the registers, so when you are done eating, you can pay and get on with your day! Great idea, wish more places had these. read more

Metro Diner - Diners Near Me - Plainfield, Indiana

Metro Diner was not what it was cracked up to be. I was excited to have another breakfast diner in the area, but was disappointed with the service and the food cost for quality. The service was slow and the waitress couldn't answer most common questions from the menu. I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy and I don't think it was worth over $10. read more

As a breakfast restaurant waitress myself, I know how some days can be stressful serving. I understand that you can accidentally come off as being inattentive or rude because there's so much going on at once. I've visited this location 4 times now in the last 6 months and somehow the last couple of times I keep getting the same waitress. The first time I had her she gave us maybe a minute to look at the menu and when I told her I wasn't ready she said "well I thought you said you've been here before", came back maybe a minute later again and I said once again I wasn't ready and she replied with "did you even look at the specials board". Finally she gave my husband and I time to look and when she walked back over she said "okay little miss have you made up your mind". It was rude to the point that my husband even asked me what I did to tick her off. Ate there again today. Same waitress. After we received our food she never once came back to check on us to even see if the food was okay. We sat waiting on our check with empty stacked plates for quite some time. Granted she's standing by us talking to another waitress, walking by us plenty of times, and not once gave us attention. The front hosts were very kind and even the busers looked to be doing a great job of keeping things nice and clean especially with everything going on right now. I got a waffle that was pretty bland and had nothing special to it. For anyone reading this I do recommend the mimosas and the shrimp and grits, very good! And if management is reading this, good God get rid of that waitress. read more

This is my favorite spot to go with my grandparents. The staff are welcoming and friendly- eager to help and answer questions. The food is good and we got it to go during the pandemic. Will be back! read more

Hey folks! Just wanted to correct myself on a few details when I went back and had this incredible dish again. The succulent, savory pieces scattered in the blanket of sauce were actually andouille sausage. Also, that sauce is not really called a gravy, but a bechamel sauce. And lastly, I believe there are 8 pieces of shrimp, not 7 like I had put in my previous review. Another dish I would like to put out in the limelight is the Yo Holla at the Square. OMG. The flavors, tender apples, and richness of this dish would settle any sweet tooth and fill any stomach for hours. Definitely a must try as well! Quick tip for ultimate experience: If you have the time to dine in, do it! The food tastes best fresh from their kitchen and hot on your table! read more

Metro Diner - The shrimp and grits cakes was to die for!!! - Diners Near Me - Plainfield, Indiana

Visited on 7/12/2021 and ordered the chicken and waffles. To my surprise when I got my pick-up order home to eat ...it was evident that the chicken was not cooked through. I call back because I was pushing time for a meeting spoke with a female who stated that she would mail a gift card. I received a gift card and apology so I'm updating my review. I appreciate the owner attempt to correct the situation. read more

My boyfriend and I were in Plainfield to have his car tinted at Ziebart's and saw Metro Diner was nearby and had good reviews, so we decided to stop in for breakfast before heading home. We came in on a slow Wednesday morning and sat outside on the patio because the weather was great. However, the patio had food crumbs on tables and trash blowing around in the breeze. Not great. We get our menus and I ordered coffee and the Bissell Breakfast (2 eggs of your choice, bacon, toast, hash browns, and a short stack of pancakes). I finished my coffee quite quickly and our waitress never came back to refill it during our stay. About 15 minutes pass by and another woman who works there came out to the patio to fill customer's coffee. Another 10 minutes went by after that and our food finally came out and our waitress asked if we needed anything. I said butter (there was none for the toast and it was not already buttered) and syrup for the pancakes. Both my boyfriend and I immediately noticed that the food was 1) kind of cold even though it was just served to us and 2) there was absolutely NO seasoning on anything. To try and combat the blandness, we looked for salt and pepper shakers and none were to be found. Our waitress came back and set the syrup and butter on the table and immediately walked away. I opened the butter to put on my toast and there was literally trash in the little cup on top of the butter... we did not see the waitress again for another 10 minutes. When I brought it to her attention and asked for a new one she took it and said she's so sorry and then disappeared and came back 5 minutes later with a new one and immediately left again. The fact that I was served that was never brought up again. When I finally started to eat my pancakes was when I was really over the entire visit. They felt like rubber. I couldn't easily cut into them with my fork and when I finally took a bite they were awful. Again not very flavorful, and they had a dense, rubber texture. Not light and fluffy like pancakes are supposed to be. Roughly 20 minutes later the waitress came back and sat the bill on the table in between us without saying a word and walked away. We had never eaten there before and didn't know if we were supposed to pay with her or inside? Then another 10 minutes passed and she came back with an iPad for us to pay on, so that answered our question. There was no deduction on the bill for being served contaminated butter or even an apology from the manger on duty. I don't know if the food is better for lunch or dinner, but we will not return here again. read more

Everyone from the west side always talks about Metro Diner. For a chain restaurant that everyone talks about, we were expecting much more. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the chicken sandwich. Nothing about our meal was anything above average. It's your typical small town diner with home style food. It's nice to say we've been but we probably won't go back. read more

Oh my goodness, by FAR my favorite diner! We have just moved to the Plainfield area, and this place is just so so so yummy. The food is very affordable, and it is really very good! We only go here for breakfast, but have been here multiple times, and have never been disappointed. If you're in the area and looking together something new, definitely go for it! This place won't disappoint! read more

What a gem guys. The staff was beyond lovely and welcoming. The strawberry butter is to die for. All of their food is fresh, not a long wait. Short drive from the highway and worth every inch of the drive. Would've gotten chicken and waffles but it's a half chicken and that was just too much for tonight. But after eating other items learned ur going to have leftovers no matter what, so go for it if ur in the mood. The portions are huge no matter what. Started with biscuits. If you haven't had a real good biscuit order these. If you have, order them--don't miss out. Dense and flakey. Crispy crust. Peaks apart to perfection. The fried crust on the country fried steak and fried chicken tenders was thick but light. Very crunchy. And dry like a fried crust should be, not greasy or oily. Love me the fried steak with traditional white gravy. Chicken tenders were so good didn't need dipping sauce. Eat them straight up. Avoid the fries. Nothing special and not worth it when better side is available. Mashed were nice but better with gravy. Served dry, need gravy. So ask for it. read more

Great service/management. Breakfast is always good... I love that you can get both pancakes and toast with the Bissell breakfast.

We were looking for something good for supper when they popped up on door dash. Decided to give them a try. The food was delicious.

This place was great! Tried it for breakfast and was impressed w the variety on the menu. Eventually I want to try the chicken and waffle lol I had a basic 2 egg breakfast. My eggs were slightly less medium than I ordered, but overall, not a deal breaker. The item I loved I didn't even order, my husband did. Their biscuits and gravy is homemade. Still not as good as family's, but so much nicer than the powder mix a lot of local places use! Also, great to see familiar faces in the staffing. Local waiters/waitresses that you have seen around town for years. read more

Metro diner never disappoints! Hot and fresh food served almost magically fast! Had the chicken and waffles, tender and flavorful chicken and that strawberry butter is fantastic! Love this place read more

I just didn't like this place at all. I ordered the Fried Chicken and my spouse ordered the Meatloaf. Neither tasted like the item. It all looked great and the portions were decent, it just had weird seasonings on it or something and we just didn't enjoy it. Service was pretty good. Prices are pretty high I felt like for a diner. read more

I want to start out by saying that I was very impressed (and surprised!). I wasn't expecting a chain to produce the quality or type of food that I was looking for. All of the food sounded and looked great. I chose the spicy honey chicken sandwich and a cup of the yogurt and granola with berries. It was great and affordable! My husband chose the huevos rancheros. Those were delicious! They do serve bloody marys & mimosa for a very good price. I did not have one myself so I can't comment on how they taste. The service was great! The women at the door taking names told us how great the food is and that a 30 minute wait was well worth it. They had complimentary coffee and water while you waited. Once seated we were greeted and served very quick. read more

Wait staff is iffy but they do get slamed. However food is normally awsome and at a good price point to take a family of 4. I really enjoy there foods and if I desire a nice drink as well. read more

Very nice people and food is always really good. It's usually busy though but moves quickly!

I ate at Metro Diner, Plainfield for the first time at about 3 pm. I had the pleasure of being served by Debra who was fantastic. Since Chicken and Waffles is one if their specialities, that's what I ordered. The waffle was thick, light ans very tasty. Its served with real maple syrup and the option of hot sauce mixed which I skipped. The strawberry butter was okay but I preferred regular butter. Fried chicken: it consist of a while side of chicken (leg, wing, thigh and breast). Unlike other places which Cook all pieces for the same time, they brought out the leg and wing first, then the thigh a couple of minutes later and then the breast last. EVERY PIECE was juicy and the skin was crispy. Best tasting chicken I've had in years. OUTSTANDING. THANK YOU DEBRA FOR A GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE. read more

This was such a fun restaurant to go to! Our food was great! The atmosphere is awesome. We had good service! We will return here!

Best Huevos Rancheros I've had, top to bottom. I'd liken this plate to breakfast nachos but more sophisticated and with a deeper flavor profile. Reasonably priced, throwback diner vibe. Metro leaves behind the too cool for school hipster scene you'd find at a place like Milktooth. Tucked in a plaza, so it's easy to miss. I'm a fan. read more

Thank you Metro Diner for providing me the best dinner tonight. I've been in town all week on business and this by far has been the best meal I've had since I got here. Always good... Fried Chicken is better than the Colonel! Every time I've been in, the staff have been great!

We just discovered this gem of a restaurant so nice to find new local places to eat. I had the Croissant French Toast breakfast. It came with a side of meat (I chose bacon) 2 eggs prepared perfectly over medium, and a choice of sides. Plenty to choose from but I had the grits. The best grits I've ever had. And choice of toast. I had grilled sourdough bread. Perfect! It was way more than can I could eat so I saved the French toast for a bedtime snack My husband ordered the pot roast that he enjoyed to the last bite. Tender beef. Just right carrots, onions, potatoes and celery. Forgot to mention he started with a bowl of broccoli cheddar cheese soup. I didn't mind that he said it was better than mine. I had a bite and totally agreed with him Mariah was our server and she was amazing. Food came out quickly and nice and hot. The owner stopped by our table to check and see that Everything was OK. We are looking forward to eating again there soon. A nice place to take the family. . read more

Food and great service. There hasn't been an item that has not tasted well. The chicken and waffles is enough for two. Also love the Mimosas. Great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. read more

To start, the food is great and service is great too. The worst part for us is how they're handling business during the COVID pandemic. Seating is at 100% even though the state mandate does not allow for that yet. Tables are simply too close together. It was hard to navigate through the area without touching tables or backs of chairs. We felt very uncomfortable and debated leaving several times, but we were passing through the area and just wanted a quick bite to eat. Again, the food was great - the response to the pandemic, not so much. read more

By far best chicken and waffles I've ever had! Hubs had the shrimp and grits that were a bit gummy. We both had Bloody Marys and enjoyed a fun lil brunch. Restaurant is very clean with a great feel too it. Prices were on the high side but the quality was there. Will revisit again read more

I had such an awesome experience at Metro Diner. So awesome that I came to write a review after I haven't reviewed anything in a while. I was prompted to go by their PR for my blog, but I am forever grateful to know about this place. The atmosphere is that gritty breakfast diner vibe of a local owned place, but the flavor is HUGE and I loved the service as well! I had chicken & waffles, and while I am admittedly a "meat" girl, preferring chicken over carbs, I was IN LOVE with the waffles. The strawberry butter and sweet & spicy sauce were perfection. My husband had the burger that had grilled cheese for buns, and it was HUGE and delicious. He also had a HUGE pancake, and a piece of key lime pie. He has a big appetite, but he loved everything! We will definitely be back time and time again! read more

Great food. Fast service. Easy in/out location.

My coworkers and I frequent this place every other week. They serve alcoholic beverages along with the rest of the menu starting at 7:00 AM. So its nice to be able to order and enjoy a beer or Bloody Mary after a long night at work while you relax and wait for your food. The omelettes are made the way an omelette is suppose to be made, the fillings and cheese in the middle and the egg folded over. The staff and is very friendly and make you feel welcome when you enter the restaurant. I've always been here first thing when it opens, so its never been busy and is always quiet. I have always ordered breakfast so I don't know how their lunch and dinner taste. This will be the spot for my coworkers and I when we are up for breakfast in the mornings after shift is over. read more
