I went in before lunch time and there were not very many people in there. I ordered bisquits & gravy. After waiting on my order about 1/2 hour, I asked my waitress what was taking so long. She said she was wondering that too and would go check on it. She said the batch of gravy was not very good, so they had to make a new batch. The server was polite, but I felt she should have told me earlier and see if I would have wanted something else instead. She also told me the gravy was worse yesterday. Doubt that I will ever go back. read more

Our waitress was very nice and bubbly. The menu here is a bit overwhelming. I hate large menus that make it hard for me to decide so I went w the All American burger no cheese bc I felt like I was under pressure to pick. The burger was good and fresh. Not really sure what that lettuce relish type mixture was but it was good. I got the onion rings for a 50cent upcharge and they were pretty tasty. My husband got the meatloaf plate and his looked and tasted good. Everyone else around me had good looking food but none looked healthy at all. The wax paper thing the silverware came in seems like such a waste for some reason. I really wish they didn't use those just to toss them in the landfill. I agree with others it is a bit pricey. $33 w tip for lunch was a bit much. read more

Metro Diner used to be a staple for my boyfriend and I. This location has went downhill very quickly. The only thing that was good was the service. Beside that the food was horrible and the manager was a very rude man. We walked in and it took about 5 minutes to be greeted, mind you it was pretty empty in the dining room. We ordered our food and the grilled chicken was super rubbery. The bread on the sandwich was completely burnt. I also would NOT recommend the potato soup. There were absolutely NO potatoes in it. It tasted like a horrible greasy type gravy. The salad I had was brown and slimy. We ate maybe 2 bites and left. We tried to speak to the manager but he took it personally when we spoke about the food because I guess he's the one that made it. Either way don't waste your money here. Go to McAlister's if you really want a great experience. We will not be back unless things can be made right with our past food. The server was a really sweet girl though and we still tipped her well because we know she had nothing to do with the food. read more

This was my first time at Metro Diner and overall it was a good experience. I got the crab cake Benedict and it was delicious. There was a lot of crab meat and I could tell that it wasn't just a frozen patty. We didn't have to wait long for our food and everyone at our table liked what they ordered. This locations is fairly new so they still have some issues. I hope to go back again and eventually give it a higher rating. The one issue I saw happen multiple times was the hostess bringing people to their tables while it was still being cleared. Once some of the kinks get worked out I think it'll be a regular spot for people in the Plainfield area. read more

My first time visit, was bomb shelled by the cinnamon swirl pancake. It was fantabulous! The home-style/diner cooking struck a home run. I had a taste of my partners chicken & waffles and my eyes bulged with joy. They were as good as you'll get in the South and dare I say better than Roscoe's? The chicken *&* Waffle were literally perfect. I look forward to next visit to try biscuits & gravy. Service was fast and friendly, too. read more

Amazing food! I've been here a few times and it just gets better and better! My favorite breakfast dish to order would be the corn beef hash seen in this picture. It's the best I've had and the food is always served fresh! read more

Food was so cold I had to send it back which i'd normally never do. Service was good not great. Atmosphere not the best. Portions are huge- definitely big enough to share or have leftovers! read more

Excellent home style cooking! But for some reason Yelp has this restaurant under "cheap eats" which is definitely not true...

Food was really good, especially the chicken and waffles. The service was great and friendly!

The portions of the food are huge! I ordered the Bacon Mushroom Swiss burger and hubby ordered the French Dip sandwich. I totally love the burger! The meat was soft and tender and the kind were it just melts in your mouth. Hubby's French Dip, he says it was ok. The roast beef was alittle too salty and they didn't serve enough juice with it. The fries were ok. I got the onion rings and they were good. The peach tea was awesome! Didn't have dessert because I didn't have enough room in my stomach. Definitely coming back. Gonna try the Chicken and Waffles next time. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was very polite and professional. read more

This place is AMAZING! I ordered the chicken & waffles (nothing less than scrumptious!) with their recommended syrup & Louisiana hot sauce that was made at the table (thanks Sherree!). The place was packed (& rightfully so), but once we got seated, the staff made us feel as if we were the only ones there. They were incredibly sweet, energetic, and funny!! The food was incredible and made fresh and fast which added to our 5 star dining experience, thanks Metro Diner!! read more

Want a good and quick breakfast, visit Metro Diner. This place is very busy on the weekend. So you might have a little wait. But it's definitely worth it. I've been there three times now. And I've enjoyed all visits. I had the French toast breakfast. It's not necessarily on the menu but the waiter was kind to tell me about it. It came with an abundance of food: half order of French toast, toast, eggs, bacon, sausage and hash-browns. My waitress was kind enough to allow me to switch the toast for a double order of bacon. My friend has the sausage gravy and biscuits. I probably wouldn't order these again. They didn't have much flavor as I would have liked. The atmosphere is super cute and they have a flavor coffee of the day which I really liked. I will be back soon. read more

This was a fantastic choice for a random dinner while in town. The biggest problem was what to choose from all of the delicious items on the menu! I'm glad we ordered a cornbread waffle for the table just to try, so good. We would love to go back again if ever in town. read more

Definitely we will be back!. My husband and i went to get breakfast and we were very pleased with the food and services. They have a lot of options on the menu and the portions were big. Anyway, we would like try their lunch menu next time read more

We've been to other metro diners in the past, and the food is always tasty. However, we particularly liked this one because of the people! Kathy and Heather took great care of us. They were both super attentive and sweet. We sat at the bar area, which gave us perfect view of the kitchen. Everyone worked in unison and so smoothly, super cool to watch. Manager your staff is doing great! Try not to put too much pressure on them when they're already doing their best. Happy employees happy customers read more

I've been to several Metro Diners and have always had excellent service and amazing food. I was excited when I moved to Avon, IN and learned there was a MD in Plainfield. This location's chefs could use a lesson in seasoning. My 1st visit the Veggie omelet was dry and lacked seasoning. Second visit I had my heart set on shrimp and grits but almost felt sick to my stomach at the sight of boiled shrimp in a gloppy (is that a word) mess of thick white "sauce". And is the chef afraid of seasoning or did they have to cut back on the salt and pepper due to covid? It looked less than desirable but I gave it a try and it was completely bland. Absolutely no seasoning. I NEVER send food back but this dish was so bad that I had to. I've had much better S&G. I hope the Plainfield location hires better chefs. read more

This is the best place around to find a hearty serving of anything, especially the chicken and waffles!!

Have been twice now and both times took at least 15 minutes to be seated. That doesn't sound like a long time but is when you can see empty tables and everyone else that came in after us was seated before us. The first time was a party of 4 and this time was a party of 6. The first time was at lunch and this time was for dinner. The food is on par with Bob Evans. I got the pot roast the first time and it was basically a piece of meat swimming in its own juices with soggy mashed potatoes. It was a very poor decision. The second time I got the biscuits and gravy. They weren't bad but still not as good as I was hoping for. They are under the favorites list so I guess I higher expectations. Overall I will give it one more try, as they say, third times a charm. read more

Service was wonderful. Food was good. Husband had the pot roast and it was really good. I had the breakfast plate which was good but I wish I had added bacon or sausage. Love the cheesy grits! They had drink specials like Snicker doodle coffee and mango iced tea. They also serve bottled beer and wine. Next time I want to try dessert. We will come back. read more

Solid. Staff is great the food is really good portion size large. The price is fair for what you're getting. Close to home a great place to eat. I've never ordered anything I didn't really enjoy eating there. Try something from the specials menu they change things up a bit sometimes. read more

Metro Diner always has the best service in the whole Indianapolis area. They're always extremely nice and attentive and make you feel good about being there. I love their brunch. I'm a sweet tooth and there's always some sort of seasonal creative pancake or French toast dish for me. My wife loves savory foods and there are tons of options for her too we both love their spicy honey chicken biscuit so much we always order 1 in addition to whatever we get. read more

Hello. I wanted to make you aware of a situation that happened to my family on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Plainfield , Indiana Metro Diner. We walked in at 12:45pm and got on the waiting list. We were told it would be about a 15-20 minute wait for the six of us. We decided that would be okay. Our 4 very young children, my husband, and I waited very patiently inside the diner for 20 minutes, when another party of five adults walked in. They informed the hostess how many were in their party then we watched as a few staff members appeared to be somewhat aquatinted with them. We overheard the hostess tell them it would be about a five minute wait. We continued to wait another 5-10 minutes until we watched as the hostess grabbed a stack of what looked like 5 or 6 menus and silverware. Then, she proceeded to seat the table of five adults as she halfway apologized to us for the wait. We were completely beside ourselves. Of course we were very polite about the situation, but we have four young children who had been very patiently waiting the entire time. A table for 5 people is the same table as a table for 6. There is no reason other than the fact that your staff were "buddies" with these people that they were seated in 10 minutes after we had been waiting for 40 (FORTY) minutes. Needless to say we left and we are extremely upset and disappointed by this situation. This was our first and last attempt at experiencing your restaurant. What a complete disappointment to us. We won't be back and we'll be sure others know how our family was treated. Please educate your staff on how to properly seat waiting parties, especially the lunch staff from Sunday. read more

I stopped in for brunch this morning. Service was friendly and prompt. It's a pretty standard diner with decent food. Management checked on us, which was a nice touch at the end. I struggled between 3 and 4 stars, more like 3.5, but I rounded up because the service was nice. Food wasn't very memorable or interesting. read more

I have been a fairly regular customer of Metro Diner and the pot roast used to be one my favorites. But tonight they really blew it. The meat was not nearly as tasty and instead of tasting home cooked appeared to be a re-heated dish. Won't be ordering this again if I even come back. read more

This place is absolutely incredible. We come here every weekend and as I write this waiting for a table, the owner is personally running food and seating guests. Great place for breakfast and dinner. We have visited Metro twice. The Metro does get busy so you may have to wait in line. It is worth the wait. We both had the fried chicken. It was outstanding. Will go back again. So we went for breakfast a few days later. Like the mamosa. Tried the chicken Benedict, another great choice. We also had eggs which were prepared correctly as we requested. The personnel were friendly and attentive. read more

Worst service ever! Twice now we've been there & they've "forgotten" our orders. Food allergy customers beware!!! They are horrible at paying attention if you have one. I advised the server prior to order that I have a food allergy to tomatoes. We ordered Avocado Toast, 2 scrambled eggs w/cheese, yogurt & a fruit cup. This took over an hour to be served. Watched the cook physically remove the tomatoes under the avocado & serve it to me. Then when returned, the cook proceeded not to believe that I had a tomato allergy. If I was a child with a severe allergy, it cld of put someone into anaphylactic shock. Then the cook argued about remaking it & doubting my allergy. DO NOT GO HERE read more

I had my first Metro Diner Plainfield experience last week and I had a lot of fun! The portions are extremely large and "good value." The restaurant was clean and well set up. Loved the free coffee and water in the foyer for people in line to sit down, even though we did not have to wait! The food was greasy but delicious. I ordered a sandwich that was (I kid you not) the size of my head. I was starving and had a tough time finishing half of it! Thankfully it heated up well for dinner. :) Special mention for the hash browns here - browned and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The service was quick and helpful... someone actually stopped and explained the menu to us, as I think she could tell we were first-timers. We will be back! read more
