We've been to other metro diners in the past, and the food is always tasty. However, we particularly liked this one because of the people! Kathy and Heather took great care of us. They were both super attentive and sweet. We sat at the bar area, which gave us perfect view of the kitchen. Everyone worked in unison and so smoothly, super cool to watch. I've been to several Metro Diners and have always had excellent service and amazing food. I was excited when I moved to Avon, IN and learned there was a MD in Plainfield. This location's chefs could use a lesson in seasoning. My 1st visit the Veggie omelet was dry and lacked seasoning. Second visit I had my heart set on shrimp and grits but almost felt sick to my stomach at the sight of boiled shrimp in a gloppy (is that a word) mess of thick white "sauce". And is the chef afraid of seasoning or did they have to cut back on the salt and pepper due to covid? It looked less than desirable but I gave it a try and it was completely bland. Absolutely no seasoning. I NEVER send food back but this dish was so bad that I had to. I've had much better S&G. I hope the Plainfield location hires better chefs. read more

Hello. I wanted to make you aware of a situation that happened to my family on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Plainfield , Indiana Metro Diner. We walked in at 12:45pm and got on the waiting list. We were told it would be about a 15-20 minute wait for the six of us. We decided that would be okay. Our 4 very young children, my husband, and I waited very patiently inside the diner for 20 minutes, when another party of five adults walked in. They informed the hostess how many were in their party then we watched as a few staff members appeared to be somewhat aquatinted with them. We overheard the hostess tell them it would be about a five minute wait. We continued to wait another 5-10 minutes until we watched as the hostess grabbed a stack of what looked like 5 or 6 menus and silverware. Then, she proceeded to seat the table of five adults as she halfway apologized to us for the wait. We were completely beside ourselves. Of course we were very polite about the situation, but we have four young children who had been very patiently waiting the entire time. A table for 5 people is the same table as a table for 6. There is no reason other than the fact that your staff were "buddies" with these people that they were seated in 10 minutes after we had been waiting for 40 (FORTY) minutes. Needless to say we left and we are extremely upset and disappointed by this situation. This was our first and last attempt at experiencing your restaurant. What a complete disappointment to us. We won't be back and we'll be sure others know how our family was treated. Please educate your staff on how to properly seat waiting parties, especially the lunch staff from Sunday. read more

Have been twice now and both times took at least 15 minutes to be seated. That doesn't sound like a long time but is when you can see empty tables and everyone else that came in after us was seated before us. The first time was a party of 4 and this time was a party of 6. The first time was at lunch and this time was for dinner. The food is on par with Bob Evans. I got the pot roast the first time and it was basically a piece of meat swimming in its own juices with soggy mashed potatoes. It was a very poor decision. The second time I got the biscuits and gravy. They weren't bad but still not as good as I was hoping for. They are under the favorites list so I guess I higher expectations. Overall I will give it one more try, as they say, third times a charm. read more

Metro Diner always has the best service in the whole Indianapolis area. They're always extremely nice and attentive and make you feel good about being there. I love their brunch. I'm a sweet tooth and there's always some sort of seasonal creative pancake or French toast dish for me. My wife loves savory foods and there are tons of options for her too we both love their spicy honey chicken biscuit so much we always order 1 in addition to whatever we get. read more

Great place for breakfast and dinner. We have visited Metro twice. The Metro does get busy so you may have to wait in line. It is worth the wait. We both had the fried chicken. It was outstanding. Will go back again. So we went for breakfast a few days later. Like the mamosa. Tried the chicken Benedict, another great choice. We also had eggs which were prepared correctly as we requested. Worst service ever! Twice now we've been there & they've "forgotten" our orders. Food allergy customers beware!!! They are horrible at paying attention if you have one. I advised the server prior to order that I have a food allergy to tomatoes. We ordered Avocado Toast, 2 scrambled eggs w/cheese, yogurt & a fruit cup. This took over an hour to be served. Watched the cook physically remove the tomatoes under the avocado & serve it to me. Then when returned, the cook proceeded not to believe that I had a tomato allergy. If I was a child with a severe allergy, it cld of put someone into anaphylactic shock. Then the cook argued about remaking it & doubting my allergy. DO NOT GO HERE read more

I had my first Metro Diner Plainfield experience last week and I had a lot of fun! The portions are extremely large and "good value." The restaurant was clean and well set up. Loved the free coffee and water in the foyer for people in line to sit down, even though we did not have to wait! The food was greasy but delicious. I ordered a sandwich that was (I kid you not) the size of my head. I was starving and had a tough time finishing half of it! Thankfully it heated up well for dinner. :) Special mention for the hash browns here - browned and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The service was quick and helpful... someone actually stopped and explained the menu to us, as I think she could tell we were first-timers. We will be back! read more

My husband and I went here for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Breakfast is served all day but we both decided to get lunch. We were seated immediately after walking in. It was freaking freezing in there. I'm a little cold natured to start with but my husband is not at all and he made remarks about it through the whole lunch. It was about 90 degrees out that day and we couldn't wait to get outside to thaw out after we ate. Hopefully they get that taken care of, but bring a jacket in the meantime just in case. On to the food.... I ordered the fish sandwich and it was ginormous. The table next to us chuckled a bit when it came out and joked they would be pretty impressed if I could finish it (I put about 90% of it down, thank you very much). Very good fish. The fries were pretty good too. My husband had a burger and he said it wasn't anything spectacular, but it was as good as a typical diner burger. Our server was great and prompt with refills. My girlfriend and I went here Thursday night. The place was crowded, chaotic, and noisy. Rather than wait 20 minutes for a table we sat at the counter. It was at least 10 minutes before our waiter came to take our drink order. Our food took nearly 20 minutes from when we ordered it. I had the Reuben. My fries were just above room temperature. The corned beef was very good, but the rye bread was no more inspiring than what any supermarket would offer. No one checked back on our food until long after we were finished, and we were not offered a drink refill until the time we asked for our check, which also took a long time. The tile floor was very slippery. The little boy seated next to us wiped out when he got down from his stool next to us. The people next to us had a different server who was more experienced. They received their meals much quicker. Their son ordered the chicken and waffles. They said the chicken was very good - it was 1/2 a chicken, so it was nearly enough for the three of them. I felt that the menu is a little overpriced for the quality. I was quite disappointed with the service. It was packed but the wait time for a table wasn't bad. They use tablets to log orders and send to the kitchen, and our waiter said "it didn't fire", so after about 15 minutes he realized this and had to resend our order. He was very friendly, and I figured well glitches and things probably happen from time to time, not a big deal. They apologized and gave us a $5 voucher to use on our next visit, after we had already paid. After reading other reviews & talking to some other people, I saw this has happened to others and their whole meal was comped in some cases while we didn't even get a discount or anything on ours. In the overall scheme of things we weren't that upset about the error & I we weren't going to say anything or complain, but I didn't appreciate the inconsistency in handling the error compared to others, and that we had to pay the full price for all 3 of our entrees. read more

I tried the metro diner today for the first time with a few friends. The food was good, however my friend and I both ordered burgers and theirs came out medium rare and mine was well done. Our server did not ask how we wanted them cooked either. They ending up sending the burger back and our server was very rude about it. They made them pay the full price for the burger and didn't offer to take anything off or even apologize (which is uncommon for a restaurant). We also asked for condiments to go with the burger and waitress was not polite about bringing them either. Just went here for breakfast, and we had a great experience! It was a very busy place but the wait was only about 15 minutes so not too bad. I got the veggie omelette with hash browns and wheat toast. Huge portion! The hash browns were great - had a really nice crispy crust. And the omelette was stuffed full of veggies. We also got the cinnamon roll pancakes to share, and they were delicious!!! Two huge cinnamon sugar pancakes with icing and pecans. Sooo good.
