We Love the Chicken and Waffles! You get a lot with one serving!!!!! When we are having a days that we want to eat Breakfast out this is the place for us. read more

Found this place on Yelp. I loved it. Had great chicken fried steak. Soup was wonderful. Service was face and friendly. I will go back.

My husband and I went here for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Breakfast is served all day but we both decided to get lunch. We were seated immediately after walking in. It was freaking freezing in there. I'm a little cold natured to start with but my husband is not at all and he made remarks about it through the whole lunch. It was about 90 degrees out that day and we couldn't wait to get outside to thaw out after we ate. Hopefully they get that taken care of, but bring a jacket in the meantime just in case. On to the food.... I ordered the fish sandwich and it was ginormous. The table next to us chuckled a bit when it came out and joked they would be pretty impressed if I could finish it (I put about 90% of it down, thank you very much). Very good fish. The fries were pretty good too. My husband had a burger and he said it wasn't anything spectacular, but it was as good as a typical diner burger. Our server was great and prompt with refills. Coke products, yay! It was a bit on the pricy side but overall we'd try it again....with my jacket in tow. read more

Great service, great food, large portions, reasonably priced! Would go back again! Ordered the soup and sandwich meal: got a nice-sized and yummy chicken salad sandwich on sourdough bread and broccoli cheddar soup. Enjoyed both. My son ordered the pancakes off the kids menu! Came with 6 reasonably sized pancakes and he could only eat 3! 2 kids could've split that and it was only $3.99, drink included with free refills. Overall, great spot! read more

I have been here several times. Staff is friendly enough, but what we ordered did not live up to our expectations given the reviews on Yelp. May just be us or off days. Not saying we would not go back or that anything was terribljust saying it was not our favorite. Went back again. Third trip, third time we had a bit of an issue. Food tasted good, but, I ordered the chicken plate. They brought out 3 pieces of chicken and then read more

My girlfriend and I went here Thursday night. The place was crowded, chaotic, and noisy. Rather than wait 20 minutes for a table we sat at the counter. It was at least 10 minutes before our waiter came to take our drink order. Our food took nearly 20 minutes from when we ordered it. I had the Reuben. My fries were just above room temperature. The corned beef was very good, but the rye bread was no more inspiring than what any supermarket would offer. No one checked back on our food until long after we were finished, and we were not offered a drink refill until the time we asked for our check, which also took a long time. The tile floor was very slippery. The little boy seated next to us wiped out when he got down from his stool next to us. The people next to us had a different server who was more experienced. They received their meals much quicker. Their son ordered the chicken and waffles. They said the chicken was very good - it was 1/2 a chicken, so it was nearly enough for the three of them. The father had a chef's salad, which had an enormous amount of shredded cheese on it. read more

Ordered a French Dip to go on my lunch break and they forgot the most important part, the Au Jus, so i'm now choking down a dry sandwich. Beyond disappointing. read more

Good food. Good service. Clean. The chef came out and stopped at everyone's table. He greeted them and had a little small talk. I ordered the Bissell Breakfast and should have taken a photo. Was too hungry and devoured that amazing sight. The portion was hearty so if you are a mom with a small child, you can totally share. Trisha is an excellent server. I will return!!! read more

I thought the food was okay, I had the chicken and waffles. The waffles were kind of bland but the fried chicken was better. The snicker doodle coffee was not bad. I felt that the menu is a little overpriced for the quality. I was quite disappointed with the service. It was packed but the wait time for a table wasn't bad. They use tablets to log orders and send to the kitchen, and our waiter said "it didn't fire", so after about 15 minutes he realized this and had to resend our order. He was very friendly, and I figured well glitches and things probably happen from time to time, not a big deal. They apologized and gave us a $5 voucher to use on our next visit, after we had already paid. After reading other reviews & talking to some other people, I saw this has happened to others and their whole meal was comped in some cases while we didn't even get a discount or anything on ours. In the overall scheme of things we weren't that upset about the error & I we weren't going to say anything or complain, but I didn't appreciate the inconsistency in handling the error compared to others, and that we had to pay the full price for all 3 of our entrees. read more

I tried the metro diner today for the first time with a few friends. The food was good, however my friend and I both ordered burgers and theirs came out medium rare and mine was well done. Our server did not ask how we wanted them cooked either. They ending up sending the burger back and our server was very rude about it. They made them pay the full price for the burger and didn't offer to take anything off or even apologize (which is uncommon for a restaurant). We also asked for condiments to go with the burger and waitress was not polite about bringing them either. Emphasis what you want, exactly how you want it, and what you want with it when eating here. read more

Just went here for breakfast, and we had a great experience! It was a very busy place but the wait was only about 15 minutes so not too bad. I got the veggie omelette with hash browns and wheat toast. Huge portion! The hash browns were great - had a really nice crispy crust. And the omelette was stuffed full of veggies. We also got the cinnamon roll pancakes to share, and they were delicious!!! Two huge cinnamon sugar pancakes with icing and pecans. Sooo good. A few of their lunch menu items looked awesome too so we will have to come back! read more

This place was amazing. If you want good food, great customer service and the right price, Metro Diner is the place to come. The portions, quality of the food was to die for. To wash it all down, a good bloody mary, mimosas and good cup of joe. Stop on in, have seat, place your order and oh yeah, bring your appetite. read more

We went to Metro Diner in Plainfield tonight for dinner. I had the French Dip and the Hub had a burger. Surina was our waitress and she was awesome. The food was delicious. All in all I was very impressed. Staff was very attentive and not one staff member walked by our table without asking how we were doing or if we needed anything. read more

Horrible disgusting deep fried food, none of their vegetables are fresh and they aren't cooked anyways. I got the pot roast and first of all the huge raw slab of fatty unflavored meat thing was the worst thing about the meal that is not even to mention the huge pile of terrible extremely salty mashed potatoes and none of the vegetables as I mentioned could very well just came out of a can in the fridge also the entire plate was drenched in a obscene amount of cold meat juice! So to sum up it we'd the worst restaurant experience I have ever had! read more

I have been to both locations, the one at Butler University and the one on 86th Street. Both settings were friendly and warm. I have only been there for lunch but I feel like breakfast and dinner would be just as good. Both locations served our parties in a fast timely manner. I highly recommend these 2 diners read more

We have been here several times for breakfast. Always had good service and there are always interesting items on the menu. We usually end up with at least one of the specials. I have watched and the manager is actively walking around making sure everyone is happy with their food. It has become my favor breakfast spot in town. Looking forward to trying other meals. read more

We decided to try this place but did not like it at all. The food was not very good and the service wasnt good either. No fault of the waitress, they just had them spread to thin. Too many tables per waitress. Main problem was the food just was not very good. I could have made better at home. read more

Just absolutely phenomenal!!! Our group was greatly impressed! Added to the list of repeat lunch spots!

He ordered the home made corned beef hash plate and was pleased. "Very tasty, not too greasy", the poached eggs were served separately. I had the breakfast pie which was beautiful but looked Huge. It was substantial but tasty: layers of onions and peppers topped by diced potatoes then eggs and topped with 2 cheeses! Additional protein/ meat is optional but not necessary, in my opinion. Loved the wide tea variety we could select from. Nice welcoming diner ambience. Trish took good care of us. read more

Yesterday your staff failed to wait on a group of disabled students trying to get into your restaurant, and what's worse, your waitresses were openly staring, pointing and whispering about these kids. Your manager apologized, but too late. Their heroic teacher took them to a more welcoming place nearby. We'd like to offer you disability awareness training for your staff and will be contacting you soon to see if you're open to doing better. read more

I love the Metro Diner! We've enjoyed it on several occasions. Just make sure you have plenty of time, it was packed on the times we dined in. The food has always been very yummy, and we always order something different! Daughter loves their grilled cheese and I like the sandwich with aus jus. but like I said, we've ordered several menu items and never been let down. Some have said it's expensive, but I disagree. It is yummy and portions are very generous. I am so happy the Metro is in Plainfield! One of my fav new places! read more
