Go here at least two weekends a month for breakfast. The line is always long (as expected). I've ordered something different each time and have not been disappointed to this day. Food and food options are great, prices are fair, and food comes relatively quick. 10/10, would recommend to anyone looking for breakfast/brunch on the weekends. read more

Super cheap, big portions, GOOD food, and friendly service. They have literally everything on the menu and I'm always down for breakfast for dinner. My favorite thing on the menu is probably the Bissell Breakfast - 2 eggs with meat, breakfast potatoes/hashbrowns, toast and 2 huge pancakes! All for roughly $11. The wait can be pretty long sometimes on the weekend but once your in, the service is pretty average speed (not rushed but not taking a lifetime). Whilst waiting for your table, there are neat stores nearby to help kill time, e.g. you can easily spend 15minutes looking around Aquatropics fish store. read more

Excellent restaurant. We ate breakfast here 7 days in a row and every server was wonderful. Crystal greeted us every morning with a smile and lots of kindness. The manager is also very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is top notch. We just ordered eggs, fruit, toast and bacon and it was perfect. I am going to miss this restaurant and the great service. read more

The food and service was amazing! Best greek salad in town. My husband had meatloaf which he loved. Our server Matthew was great and every server who passed our table asked if we needed anything? Awesome first time experience. No waiting even with a packed restaurant. Presentation of food was beautiful. read more

Great food and great service! Coffee flavors and fixings could use some work, but if you are willing to sacrifice your caffeine fix this is a great brunch spot! read more

It's taken me awhile, but I have finally had everything on the menu and have never been disappointed with food, service and connection to the waitstaff. My absolute favorite is the corned beef hash - awesome: not greasy, perfect, perfect, perfect. The BEST hash I have EVER had, bar none, in any state of the union or overseas. read more

The food is incredible!!! Brought my dog and sat out on the porch. Beautiful day! Great service too.

Wow! What a great place. Breakfast delish, great service, and music. From my hot tea-cranberry juice-French toast was fabulous

Love love love this place! Food is amazing! Large portions & could possibly be the friendliest staff in town! Eat here every chance I get and always leave happy! read more

Had a great visit with wonderful food. My mother had the meatloaf which had a great taste and hefty portions. I had the club sandwich with fries and it was a true club with a great taste. The rest of the family had fried chicken and they ate all of the hearty portions they were given. I also can't say enough about our waiter Kyle. He was hilarious and informative and know the menu and food. The waiter alone was worth the visit, but the food was worth the 45 minute trip. read more

We love the Metro Diner. It's my favorite place for breakfast any time of the day. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is amazing! read more

I was actually a fan of metro diner for the flavorful food and consistent quality that I'd received the first few times I went. Let me start off by telling you the pros. There are a lot of things to choose from the menu, which is great. The atmosphere is cozy and I've always received good service. If you crave American comfort food, this place will do the job for you. Their meatloaf plate and their corned beef has are tasty, if you like either one of those things. Now for the cons: what I find is that I seem to feel somewhat sick after I've had my meal here. This is not my complain on any sanitation issue or health code violation but rather just about the amount of grease, salt, and butter that are in the food that may make your stomach uncomfortable. Obviously, this will differ from person to person. Another thing is that some of the food seems to be covered up with a lot of sauces and other things to mask the actual quality of the flavor. This goes a lot for their sweet breakfast items. One time, I had the stuffed french toast that they had and it was such a let down because the filling was completely cold. The actual bread itself was cold and soggy too, which made it seem like they just made it and left it out under the heating lamp to wait for someone to order it; I wasn't sure why it came out that way. Overall, it's a great bang for your buck but I really don't find anything too special about this place. read more

Fast and friendly service. Must try chicken and waffles with the signature strawberry butter and sweet and spicy dip

Got here around brunch time on Friday and had no wait. We had fried chicken and waffles, and biscuits and gravy. Excellent food, generous portions, reasonable pricing, courteous and attentive service. (A bit loud on the patio as far as traffic noise.) read more

This is my new favorite restaurant in Gainesville! I got the croissant french toast and my friend got an omelet with toast and hash-browns. The french toast was delicious and sugary. The omelet was also very good & my friend really seemed to enjoy the toast, but claimed the hash-browns weren't great. Overall a very clean & friendly establishment, I can't wait to go back! read more

Simple, casual environment. Great food. It was our first time eating here. She had chicken and waffles, I had pastrami on rye and both were amazing. Best pastrami I've had since living in florida. They mix some hot sauce with the maple syrup to dip the chicken and waffles in which is a really nice touch as well. read more

Best service we've had in awhile! No complaints whatsoever! The chicken pot pie was AMAZING and perfectly seasoned. My brother got the biscuits and gravy and wouldn't shut up about them, in a good way;) read more

Went for a late lunch with my parents. Our server, Nick, was extremely attentive and friendly. Can't say enough about the service. And the food was excellent as well. Have to try to fried jalapeños. read more

This was one of the best places that I've ever eaten I got the Montecristo and it was delicious and there was so much of it for the price like, honestly. It came with fries and I believe a raspberry like jam to dip it in I'm not gonna lie it is a little pricey but you get what you pay for and that is a lot of food and you will definitely have leftovers. read more

I love this restaurant! Don't miss out on their chicken and waffles. We used to drive to Jacksonville once a year just to eat there, and now we have it in our very own backyard. I love this place! read more

I ate here with my girlfriends on Sunday. I was hearing it was a great place! Very packed, its your basic mom and pops diner kind of food but it was decent! read more

Metro diner was decent. Our server was friendly but not writing our order down made her forget an extra side I ordered. The food is good but pretty traditional. Next time I'm in the mood for good breakfast in that area I'll definitely just go to bagels unlimited. read more

Best place for an amazing breakfast in Gainesville( or any of their other locations ), super friendly staff and great service! Everyone always looks like they're having a good time, even the staff read more

Metro always has fantastic food and excellent portion sizes! Highly recommend any of the breakfast although the lunch is tasty as well!!

Food and service were excellent. Exceptional value. It was crowded but we got seated promptly.

We chose Metro Diner because of their Yelp reviews & boy oh boy we were not disappointed!! As busy as they were the wait was not long for our party of 5. The atmosphere was buzzing, the place was full! Loved the menu, reasonably priced...something for everyone! Our server was so professional, knowledgeable about the menu & as sweet as can be!! Everyone left filled to the brim & had "doggy bags" to boot!! read more

Decided to stop by here before heading out of town. There was a pretty big wait to get a table, but it did move pretty quick. The restaurant itself was very noisy in a chaotic way and the atmosphere was a little weird, but we decided to stick around. The server was good, seemed a little busy to give a full introduction. Portion sizes are huge and the food was good, but left you with that heavy greasy feeling after. The highlight of my experience here was the yo holla on the square. Sweet but not too sweet, and definitely tasted like it's made from scratch. Highly recommend this for anyone who stops by here! read more

Food is fine and service is friendly. Had their chicken & waffles that is so talked about and it was ok. Chicken was fried well and good but the waffle lacks flavor. Needs vanilla or something to make it taste better. Waffle House has a better waffle. read more

If there's a better breakfast place in town, I haven't been there yet. Metro diner is a great new addition to the Gainesville restaurant scene. Every meal I've had here has been delicious and abundant. The first meal I had here, sausage and biscuits was in enormous!. It came on 2 full size plates that were full. Actually laughed at how much food came out. A new favorite for a family breakfast. read more

Probably my favorite breakfast spot in town, although everything is fantastic and well priced. The Bissell Breakfast is always a good idea, and if you have a sweet tooth, croissant French toast is amazing but very sweet. Other than breakfast, the rest of their food is superb as well, although I don't usually go there other than for breakfast. read more

we like it, from bacon and eggs to avocado wrap. they even substitute pork for beef or turkey or soy equivalent. good place and always trying to please you and make you feel comfortable. Guy was right, a good diner and not a drive in or dive! read more

Please spend your money wisely. As a southerner, Waffle House and iHop serve you better options and good food. The french toast was bad. Chicken pot pie was ridiculous. The only save of the day was the chicken biscuit. The fries were so bad i would go home and deep fry potato myself. read more

Thank you Melinda, service was excellent. Had a wonderful dinner. The shrimp and grits looked amazing that my friend had and she really liked it. Perfect for families with kids of all ages. I do recommend this diner, very reasonable. read more

Great place for comfort food in Gainesville. Metro has breakfast all day - if that's what you like. However, if you're trying for healthy, I found a garden salad and topped it with blackened shrimp and used oil & vinegar as my dressing. It's friendly inside and the servers have personality without being intrusive. Also, a manager has stopped by to check on us during every visit. Don't forget that it has ample free parking which can be a valuable commodity in this town - especially near the college campus. read more

I don't get the obsession with this place. The food is good (not great) and the service is solid. However, the prices are quite high for breakfast food and the coffee (like at many breakfast places is subpar). Also, the wait is ridiculous and the seating and atmosphere is cramped. It isn't a bad place but not really worth the wait and price (this rating is more like a 3.5 but Yelp doesn't allow half stars). read more

Had the chicken pot pies the worst. Dry meat not much flavor. Not that busy but was not recognized for a while, then got so so service. For all I have heard about this place we gave it a try , not impressed. I miss the days when restaurants cared about their customers. read more
