I've lived in Augusta over four years now & nothing hits like Metro Diner when you're hungover. My go to is always the eggs benny but the items they have featured are also pretty good. The ONLY thing I'd want to see to make this place even better are coasters for the cups because I hate that they sweat on the table. Pro tip: check in online ahead of time because the wait time can get ridiculous. I'm talking a lil bit bonkers. I usually check in online & hang out at home with my dogs (Bobby 1 & Bobby 2) and once I arrive, they make me feel like VIP because they seat me right away. We went on a whim for brunch one day. The food was great. We ordered the corned beef hash and the special of the day. Both were good! The highlight was the amazing biscuit! Just visited but somehow im already overdue for another visit ! The Metro Diner hit big with me, I had a taste for Chicken & Waffles and they DID NOT miss! Lately my appetite has been minimal and my tastebuds have been craving 0 salt, so I'm always a little cautious about what I decide to consume because it could turn into a non-consumable for me. With my appetite being the way it is, it's been hard to stomach a lot of restaurant foods but I'll tell you now that the Metro Diner hit the spot for me. The flavor was good, the pieces were juicy, but crispy and overall good without too much salt to flavor. But, I really want to get to the waffle! At first, I was extremely cautious because of the thickness of the waffle and the strawberry butter. I'm used to a thinner waffle so it was a visual turn-off to begin, but I wanted chicken and waffles, so I had to conform. The waffle was delicious with syrup alone, but OMG that strawberry butter took it to another stratosphere! if you're out looking for a good filling breakfast of a 1/2 chicken and a delicious waffle then look no further. A quick Apple Maps search for restaurants in the Augusta area caught our attention. We arrived a little after 12-noon, checked-in and were told by the Host that our wait time to be seated would be 10 to 25 minutes. We were pleasantly surprised when in less than 15-minutes my iPhone received a text informing us that our table for three was ready. Our Server Cottie (pronounced Co-Tee) was great. She was warm, friendly and attentive. Cottie took our orders for drinks, I ordered a coffee; no cream or sugar. The coffee was perfectly balanced, no doubt a medium flavored breakfast brew which wasn't acidic and very pleasant to consume. I ultimately decided on the Classic Eggs Benedict with hash brown, my all-time favorite breakfast. It wasn't more than 10 to 15 minutes that our food was being brought over; speedy delivery of order, always a huge plus for an establishment. The Classic Eggs Benedict was solid but not exceptional, as was the hollandaise sauce. The hash brown was perfectly cooked, very clean, not too oily and just the perfect picturesque golden brown color. Portion size was appropriate and not gluttonous. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The food was good but the value was exceptional. Gratuity included, my meal with coffee was less than $20. The exceptional value bumped up my overall rating from a strong 3 to a solid 4-Star experience. After eating here the opening month, I knew I was way overdue for another visit. So a Sunday brunch found me suggesting a return to the Metro Diner. Being later morning I was concerned about the wait time, but took a gamble anyway. We arrived to a full house and a wait of 20 minutes, With it being one of few cold days that Augusta has each year, I wondered if we would be crammed in the foyer or forced to stand outside. Turns out they had planned for this. Part of the outside patio area had been sectioned off with heavy duty plastic enclosure with heat and complimentary coffee. I mention all this so you understand just how customer-centric this restaurant is. I came hungry so I went straight to the larger dishes. For some reason the chicken pot pie was calling my name, and I am sure glad I answered. I ordered the bigger portion (I told you i was hungry) and the turnaround time was minimal. When that bowl was placed before me, I knew I was in for something delicious. This pot pie isn't made with the traditional dough casing, but instead has a biscuit crust top. I found this to 1) be really tasty and 2) appear to have allowed the ingredients to cook more evenly and properly. Having the vegetables I anticipate (peas and carrots), I typically find them to be overcooked. Sidenote: this is due to the need to fully bake the crust casing. But not this time. Both had the right amount of firmness and everything had a perfect blend of flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by the hint of salt and butter that worked to complement the dish instead of overpowering it. I wish, as I do each time, that I had saved room for dessert but it was not meant to be. I work in one of those major grocery stores where people are just being ignorant, hoarding, yelling at us why we don't have this and that...on and on. Well, I've been hearing about Metro Diner for a while now and finally got in to see what all the fuss is about - I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! My husband's office was having lunch here so I joined them. We decided to split the chicken and waffles which, considering the size when the dish came out, was an excellent decision. I ate the light meat and the hubs had the dark so, again, perfect for us. It's HALF of a chicken. And then a waffle (4 quarters), strawberry butter, and spicy maple syrup. I was skeptical. Then I tasted everything. Just try it - put some butter on the chicken and try the maple syrup on anything and everything! You won't be sorry. Although completely satisfied with our choice, the look of some of the other people's dishes made me want to go back and try some other options - soon! read more

When we were finally seated, I was so overwhelmed by the number of items on the menu, I had a hard time deciding what to order. I went here for the first time today, and it was bleh. I ordered the croissant French toast and it was terrible. It had a weird texture like a badly baked cake but it was also extremely eggy in flavor. I couldn't finish eating it. It was disappointing in flavor, texture, and appearance. My boyfriends dish was okay, but we've eaten better meals for cheaper. The service was okay. I typically like it when a waiter or waitress doesn't hover over me, but my waiter was no one to be found sometimes. We had to wait awhile after we finished eating for the check then wait for him to take the credit card to pay. I probably won't be back here again. read more

I dreamed of how delicious my meal would be. We arrived around 7PM on a Saturday night. There was no wait time. The inside looks like a cute little diner. Points for homey decor. We ordered the beef tips, American burger, and the French dip. We were disappointed with the quality of food. The au jus was too salty for my taste. Hubster's burger was underwhelming. The bun was dry and the burger was unremarkable. My friend's beef tip was ok, but nothing to write home about. The table next to us had to wait a long time to get their fried chicken and then had to wait again for their steamed broccoli.
