I've been frequenting Mesa Verde for years. For the longest time I refused to order anything but the chicken enchiladas.. Their red sauce is very very good and the broiled cheese on top is something I tend to crave. I've tried other dishes: plenty of hefty chicken burrito bowls, chipotle soft tacos (messy but wonderful), the Thai burrito, and the mojo pork burrito bowl. Everything was totally enjoyable and priced very well. I must admit though that my old standby is the chicken enchiladas. Lately they haven't been as consistent as they once were. Sometimes they're cooked until the cheese is very dark and crispy with minimal sauce and other times the cheese is oozy and saucy. (Actually they once forgot the side of rice and beans and once gave me steak enchiladas instead of chicken) but despite the inconsistencies, I still love Mesa Verde and won't hold it against them. If you want some cheap, casual, Mexican-American grub with a great menu and good vibes, Mesa Verde is certainly for you. read more

I have eaten there twice. No more. The food is pretty good, but the place itself is crazy. It's to small and cramped, the help.....well......are not the most helpful. If you want to try it and have never been there avoid the busy nights or its standing room only (which isnt very many) and be sure to ask where everything is or you will be handed a plate of food and have no idea where the utensils or drinks are. Terrible food. Granted I grew up eating real Mexican food at home and lived in Mexico so I may be a little biased,but I honestly prefer Taco Bell to this place. I had the "home made chorizo " burrito and I honestly think they forgot to season the chorizo. A mix of ground pork and beef, it was dry and completely tasteless, and cold to boot. The burrito wasn't even rolled and completely fell apart when I tried to pick it up. My wife had the Cubano burrito and my son the California burrito and they were both equally tasteless. The chips were good but the salsa was also completely bland. There's no salsa bar or even bottles of hot sauce available. I'd been there a few times years ago and avoided it but decided to give it another chance, but it was even worse. I don't know why people are calling this Mexican food,because it definitely isn't. Why are they afraid of seasoning their food? Maybe that's the way the earthy crunchy Greenfielders like it? One star because the beer selection is good. read more

I've liked this place for years. However, I can't abide what they consider a "large" bag of chips. They cheap out so bad it's almost comedy. When I asked if the bag they gave me really was a large, the person said yes but in a way that made me think she's heard this question before. Come on, people, it's literally less than 10 cents in hard costs to give a proper portion, and some places (like Moe's) give you unlimited. Normally, I enjoy my visit to mesa verde. Love their salsa and margaritas. However, on my most recent visit today I waited 20 or so mins for my main meal, a chicken quesadilla. I went to ask to make sure it didn't get forgotten About as the kitchen sounded pretty quiet. Asked the girl at the counter, she went into the kitchen, came out and informed me "30 secs longer, we're just THAT busy. " um, there were 4 tables, 2 of which already had their food. That busy? I work in a much smaller cafe where the counter person makes the food and when it's full, I'm expected to do 7 things wt once from my customers....I'd hate to see how the service is here when it actually is THAT BUSY. read more

While not authentic Mexican per se, portions are filling, grub is very tasty and reasonably priced, and atmosphere is laid back. Bonus points for draft beer and bottles of Dos Equis. We'll be back soon. read more

First and foremost, I accidentally wasted chips on the table (immediately after sitting down) and asked SHANE if they could be replaced. His reply, you want free chips? Really, I paid for these chips! I asked Emily the same question and she gladly replaced them. Thanks again. Another employee (wears glasses, slender) gladly refunded my friend's money for her disappointment in the tortilla soup. The fajita burrito was okay, the guacamole was good. in august i'm moving to california. although i'm going to the land of cheap and readily available mexican food, i know i'll still miss mesa verde. their salsa is a cilantro-y dream, their fresh corn chips just amazing, and their selection of local brews and homemade limeade refreshing. seriously, this place is barely cheaper than mcdonald's, but the quality of the food is leaps and bounds better. i am addicted to their catfish tacos. served with grilled red onions, lettuce, chopped tomatoes (i hold the creamy salsa sauce, but you might love it), these are the best fish tacos in the area, no arguments. inside seating features restored church pews and bright mexican tile mosiacs. outside there are picnic tables and umbrellas and wooden buckets full of flowers. either way, you win! read more

Its not that the food was bad. Or the beer. I actually appreciate that they have local beer on tap.... And its not that I need to be treated like royalty when I visit a restaurant... but customer service & employee demeanor is HUGE in my book. Restaurants, no matter how laid back or upscale, is as much about the experience as is the food quality. My one visit to Mesa Verde showed me that this is clearly the place where the owner/manager is not a big presence, and the staff rules the roost in quite a sloppy, this is my friends apartment, i can't wait to get out of work atmosphere. I had questions about the menu, which were answered, but in a way where i could tell the staff couldn't wait until i finished ordering so they could go right back to socalizing amongst themselves, their cell phones and wherever they went after walking out past the parking lot. I sat outside, and I LOVE outdoor seating in a restaurant, but as I ate, the whole staff sat next to me at the next table, shootin the shit and just hanging out. The food was ok. I've had better and worse. I would probably go back if I happen to be in the area, but only because my options in Greenfield are limited. I would never, ever, ever go out of my way to go back, and I definitely wouldn't take my mom there, or recommend it to a friend. read more

I had high hopes but sadly my experience was not that great. My husband and I both ordered burritos (different kinds) and we both ordered them "spicy", with sour cream. Well, my husband's burrito was creamy and spicy, but it was as if they completely forgot to put sour cream or ANY spice in mine. It was extremely dry and bland. I could taste no spices whatsoever. It was edible so I decided to just take it home so I could doctor it up with rooster sauce & sour cream, meanwhile I noshed on half my husband's burrito. My husband got a severe stomachache almost immediately, which was strange since I ate some of his burrito and I felt fine. However, he is a strict vegetarian and I am not, so the only thing I could think of was that maybe his veggies were cooked on a grill that had meat-juices on it and he felt sick from cross-contamination. read more

I've been going to Mesa for years (at least weekly, if not multiple times per week), and have always loved it. In the past 6 months or so I can't say I love it anymore. I've had my order messed up more times than not, I've had many undercooked quesadillas, and many overcooked refried beans, and I don't feel like the staff cares about anyone anymore. It also seems as if they are turning over employees much faster than I've ever seen, which makes me think they aren't treated well. Mesa is a quick and easy place to grab an inexpensive meal, but it's really going downhill. If it wasn't for the delicious margaritas and the addicting chips and salsa, I probably wouldn't frequent this place anymore. read more

Cool spot, but that's about all. My burrito to 45 minutes to come out of the kitchen. And when it did it was Luke warm. Not for nothing, but I can get a burrito made at Moe's in about 120 seconds. Solid place for reasonably priced burritos and the like with tons of vegetarian and vegan options. This is still New England, so you shouldn't expect the most flavorful food, but what I've had so far has all been good. Wow! Mesa is a great, healthy place to eat in Greenfield! Very family friendly, too! We love drinking the margaritas on the patio while snacking on chips and salsa.
