Take the jaunt to Florence and dine in here. Wish we'd caught their names but the two front of the house lovelies were reason enough to return, even if the food wasn't PHENOMENAL, which it iiiiiiis. Still rubbing my full, full belly that is full of rice, beans, vegan chorizo & accouterments, I urge you to stop in here. If you're veggie or vegan or even veggie curious, they will treat you RIGHT! After 10 years as a vegetarian in Texas, coming home couldn't have been sweeter. Plenty to love for the meat eaters too, I digress! The food is well seasoned, with great contrast of textures and flavors. Love yourself, eat here. And don't forget a horchata for the road. Sabroso, gracias! read more

The guy at the register was super informative. All of the food that they have to offer except for one item is gluten-free, which is absolutely amazing. The food was so delicious. The service was amazing everyone smiling the atmosphere is adorable. I definitely will have to come back. read more

There was plenty of seating for a Friday night. The menu was complicated so you would have to know what you wanted beforehand. They use counter service where they bring the food out to you and you buss your own table. They have outdoor seating and water on hand. There was a limited selection of beers and some margaritas. The atmosphere is come as you are. read more

Worst food I have ever had in a Mexican restaurant in years . I had tacos and the steak was chewy . The Corn chips were style just not a place I would ever stop by again . Iam not from the area but I seen this on yelp figuring I would give it a try ... just didn't work for me .... read more

Clean friendly ordered flautas. No flavor. Not authentic Mexican , more American Mexican. Homemade chips not appealing and salsas all tasted like cumin. We should have done the drive to mission cantina. read more

Masa Mexicano - Chips - Mexican Near Me - Northampton, Massachusetts

The food was very good and we were both pleased with our meal. We enjoyed the chips, their homemade every day and the salsa is excellent. They make their own sauces, which is very impressive. The staff couldn't have been nicer and informative. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We had the bowls and they were special prepared and very generous portions. The food is authentic and unique. read more

We entered the restaurant at a few minutes after 6:00 PM. There were 13 diners seated and a group of 3 being educated, by the Host/order taker, in the restaurant's offerings, process, procedures and reputation. We waited nearly 12 minutes before moving up to place our orders for chicken enchiladas and rice and quesadilla with spinach and peppers. Upon placing our order we were given a basket of nachos with a small container of salsa and directed to a table to wait its delivery. Although the salsa was marginally OK, the nachos were thick and tough as well as salt free. At least there was no worry about getting oil on one's fingers. The enchiladas were badly burned with the imprint of the grill grate in sharp relief on each side of the tortilla; so badly burned that I could not cut through the tortilla with the reasonably sharp, serrated knife supplied with the meal. I had to tear the tortilla apart resulting in the burned portion actually breaking with a snap felt as the pastry parted. The rice was quite cool and both elements of the dish were absolutely bland and tasteless. The sauce, however, would have been good had it been warm. The quesadilla was no warmer than room temperature and completely tasteless. Although it's likely we've had worse meals in our long and traveled lives, neither of us can remember when. We can say that this was a terrible dining event and truly the worst we can remember. The good news is that neither we nor the Masa Mexicano restaurant need fear a reprise of our return. And finally: The only person with whom we interacted was the Host/order taker. He was pleasant and apologetic and, I suspect, somewhat embarrassed. If he wasn't, he should have been. read more

A great casual spot for tacos, quesadillas, and bowls (you order at the counter and they bring your food to you). I really appreciated the house-made plant protein option on offer (but would always love more options). I got the masa bowl which was really tasty! I also tried the torta and their chips and salsa--the salsa in particular was great and tasted fresh. I'd definitely try the plantains next time. The service was pretty quick, too. And not too expensive! read more

Great al pastor tacos. I'm glad they got a license for beer and margaritas! Good and fresh food with very friendly staff.

The rock hard tostada was painful to bite and nearly impossible to chew. I swallowed a small piece and that was my first and last bite. After recovering from choking I deposited the rest in the trash. Seriously awful!!! Such brittle food should never be served. read more

First time visitor to Masa Mexicano. The food is real, quite authentic, though I did note the flavor of beans, rice was a bit tepid. But otherwise, if you are looking for some authentic good Mexican food, I would definitely consider visiting. The greeters and servers are quite welcoming, especially to newbies, and they took the time to inform us in detail about some of the selections; specials are listed off to the left of the central ordering counter. You may dine indoors or outdoors as weather permits. But that being said, when all is said and done I don't think I will return. Why? The prices! I just cannot afford $4. Mexican sodas, or the cost of all the various sides and entrees. It was unbelievable how fast the total surged. I can't afford this, especially for a lunch. Consider yourself lucky if you can. read more

Masa Mexicano - Foreground - El Pastor quesadillas (pork), rear- 3 taco special selecting different proteins. - Mexican Near Me - Northampton, Massachusetts

Unless you're looking for it, one could easily drive by this gem. The food tastes fresh, authentic, and not processed in the least. I was impressed with the plating skills of the chef in addition to a very tasting meal. I had their Masa Bowl with chicken, a Barbacoa street taco, Mexican corn, a beautiful margarita and one of the best Flans I've had to date. The brothers whom I assume own it have great customer service. They are friendly, attentive, thoughtful, and efficient. The restaurant itself is more modern looking with some nods to traditional Mexican decor. If you're in the area, it's worth a stop. read more

My side of the family is primarily Mexican-American so I was looking for authentic Mexican food to serve for our wedding welcome party. After trying food from several Mexican restaurants in the area, we found that Masa Mexicano's food was delicious and even more authentic than some places we've eaten at across the country! Roberto has a lot of great experience and you can tell by the quality and style of the tacos he and his team had catered. My family agreed that these were some of the best tacos they've had in awhile. I feel very confident in saying that Masa Mexicano has the best tacos in Western Mass! read more

My wife is great at finding cool food when we're road-tripping. Masa Mexicano was a Yelp pick based upon the 5 Star rating and we visited on a Friday night at a prime dinner time. MM is located in a small plaza about 10 minutes off Exit 25 of 91N. They have modern takes on Mexican classics like tortas, tacos and quesadillas, etc. There was a 10 minute line when we arrived. After you order, you pick an inside or outside table and they bring your food when it is done. It took about 30 minutes to get our food after we ordered, because they were very busy with both dine in and takeout. I only mention the wait to highlight their popularity. Service was friendly and they were clearly doing the best they could given all the customers. You can order ahead if you're better organized than we were. Our family of 3 loved everything we tried. My wife had fried fish tacos and raved about them, which she is not especially likely to do. So they must have been great. My 10 y.o. ordered grilled chicken tacos for the first time and loved them. That's a big win as he continues to explore new foods. My Achiote Fried Chicken Torta was delicious. The breaded chicken cutlet was tender inside and had great texture outside. The bread was fresh and up to the job. The toppings which I think included achiote paste, tomato, a mild red cabbage type slaw, pickled red onions, a tangy sauce or two, and white Mexican cheese crumbles. It was a modern/fusion take on a torta rather than a traditional one and I loved it. The seasoned rice, tortilla chips, Guac, house salsa and refried beans were all good. MM is clearly a popular place performing at a high level. I get and agree with with the 5 Star Rating. read more

This place is a gem. I lived in Northampton most of my childhood. Seeing the plaza that where the restaurant is makes me happy for the community first. The food and the staff that provides is with excellence, upmost love and devotion to the culinary world. The service with greetings is so warm and so helpful to navigate the right choices of everything they offer. I wanted to eat everything. An amazing place with the perfect balance of food for the soul. read more

Heard about this place and it was worth the drive. Fresh food with lots of flavors and well seasoned. We had flautas, one of each taco, street corn, and grilled jalapeños. Everything was good, but the standouts were the vegan chorizo taco, grilled street corn, and grilled, stuffed jalapeños. The rice and beans (black and redoes alike) are ok, so if beans are your groove, you won't love these, but they're fine. The service is outstanding and the folx are personable and response. read more

This place is super cute and the food is amazing. So far I have tried the fried chicken sandwich and the blue plate special lunch. The pulled beef is the star of the tacos. This is tender well seasoned beef on soft tortilla shells. I chose the salad and the rice as my sides, very yummy. The homemade salad dressing was amazing as well. I look forward to trying more items from their menu, as I started a job near by. read more

The service in this restaurant was excellent. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. My chips and salsa were good and the guacamole was some of the best that I ever had, but the rest of my food was not hot when served and the ambient temperature of the room was on the chilly side. There was a lot of foot traffic and it seems they have their regulars, but I was not impressed with my vegan tacos which may have just been a result of the coldness. read more

Wonderful tortillas, beautifully prepared food. All of the ingredients are fresh and natural.

There's a reason this place has five stars. We typically stop in Northampton on our way to and from Vermont. The downtown is great but I wanted something different. We tried the masa dumpling soup which was a special. Amazing. I threw in some of my rice and beans for good measure. I haven't had a torta in years so I felt like that was worth a try. It starts with the bread and they nailed it. Bonus points for the balance of slaw and actual fried chicken. My wife got the Al pastor, baracoa and chicken tacos. The tortillas are made fresh at the restaurant and it shows(you can actually smell it when you walk in). Great spot for the family and I'll definitely be back to try the torta with Al pastor and Barbacoa. read more

I walked in and immediately knew this would be the spot. We ordered guac, chips, rice, beans, horchata, and all of the tacos with all of the sauces. We had to try as much as we could! Everything was delicious and fresh but the best of it all for me was simply the tortillas. The masa is wonderful; well hydrated, perfect thickness, just so beautiful. Service was great - they are excited about their food and with good reason. Would definitely recommend. read more

Oh my God! This restaurant is the best Mexican in Western mass. I got a burrito bowl with braised beef the owner Roberto told me was slow cooked for five hours with cilantro, black beans rice, tomatoes guac sour cream...the whole kitchen sink! Super fresh. So amazing! Good for two meals. I am spreading the word. I've had the tacos as well. Same deal! They use this special organic flour from Mexico. So flavorful. My only criticism is that the tacos are small and I'm big. Lol read more

Having lived in DF (Mexico city) for six years, I'm a bit picky on Mexican food--even Tex-Mex versions. But this was delicious, clean and fresh--just plow yourself up to the Big Menu and take a gander (checking on the speciality of the day). Tell whoever minds the till you're new and they'll happily explain the method. From fresh Horchatas to bottled drinks, or just good old aqua, it's all here. We ate inside on a summery day, but it was fresh enough for me (who finds stuffy, overheated rooms unappetizing. Highly recommended. read more

I love this place! Comfort food and my take-out go-to. The staff are lovely. My only quip is selling the jarritos sodas for $4... that mark-up is a bit much. The restaurant interior is underwhelming but as a neighborhood eatery, I'm okay with that. read more

The first time I ate here with my sister life was gooood. When we went back for our birthdays not so much. We arrived fairly early and the kitchen crew was preoccupied with what looked like a catering order and we had to wait quite a while for our lunch. My taco plate was missing my grilled jalapeño (the item on my plate that I was most looking forward to). My tacos were just thrown together. So sad. Not in a hurry to go back. read more

It's actually pretty severe how bad this food is. You Yelpers know I HATE to discredit a small business, but the beans are watery and not seasoned at all, the food is just so inauthentic and you can hardly even call it Mexican. All of the five-star reviews that say "I don't usually like Mexican food" are really telling on themselves because the only way you can like this place is if you have no respect for Mexican cuisine. Also it's pretty ridiculously priced. I would stay away from here if you've ever had good Mexican food and don't want to waste your money. read more

Under no circumstances should you skip this establishment. I ordered the taco combo. One Al Pastor. One Chicken Tinga. One Barbacoa. Spanish rice and black beans. Let's start with the Al Pastor. The meat is spit roasted. The flavor is unreal. The char on the chicken tinga is to die for. As for the barbacoa. Hands down the best ever. The shuttle cinnamon flavor keeps bringing you back for more. I am going to definitely be a repeat offender. My new go to spot when I am in the area. I will definitely be making excuses to be in the area. The service was phenomenal. They took the time to explain the menu. Very clean and beautiful inside. read more

This placed opened during the pandemic. So glad it survived. The food is authentic. They do not have a large menu, which is mostly the same, and a few additions come and go. We always alway always make a point to go when we visit the area! The food is fresh & flavorful--not your typical Tex-Mex fare. Be sure to get the signature salad--big enough to share and so good! This place is a real gem! And as a bonus, almost everything on the menu is gluten free! read more

Found this place on way back to CT from MA on a drizzly day. Northhampton has options but this one is a bit out from the main town. Worth finding it! The server gave us a complete description of items on the menu. So enthusiastic to make sure we got what we liked. Being Gluten sensitive I loved that their fryer was GF! I tried the fish tacos (special) and had three tacos each with a large piece of breaded(gf) cod and creative toppings, double shelled in their homemade corn tortillas. Horchata was very smooth and tasty. BF had trio of tacos - nice to be able to mix - and favorite was barbacoa. Shells were slighty grilled to help them standup to fillings. Large portion of meat in each one. Rice and beans rounded out the meal and plenty of food. Although a fast casual the atmosphere was pleasant and lots of windows to bring in light. Too rainy for us to try their small outdoor area off parking lot but could work on a warm day. read more
