3.5 stars. As a Texan, I don't often trust places that say they serve Mexican food. Like, yeah, you live in New England but you know Mexican food? Suuuure. Well, friends, I'm happy to report that this place was pretty tasty! The al pastor tacos were delightful, and the combo of toppings of the pineapple, cilantro, onions, cabbage, and avocado was *chef kiss*. Bummed that the tortillas stuck to each other, so they tore a bit when eating them. But still really good. The chips were pretty crisp and decently salted, but might be from a bag? The salsa was just 'okay.' It had too much black pepper in it. The horchata was the perfect flavor! The flan was not the right texture. Flan should be springy/bouncy (it should have lots of eggs in it!) and this one was like panna cotta or pudding. Super strange. The biggest problem: the prices are way out of proportion to the food. Three small tacos (the size of my hand, about three or four bites) that were loaded with toppings for $10 wasn't the absolute worst. But a small-ish, not full container of chips with basic salsa was $6? And a horchata with lots of ice in a small cup was $3.50? And small, single serving of flan was $6.50? A SIDE of refried beans is $4???? Oof. My wallet took a big hit. I spent $30 for food on a paper plate that I had to order at a cash register and I was still hungry at the end of the meal. The food was pretty good, but was it good enough for the cost? Definitely not. I don't even think I've paid those prices in NYC, so to pay them in Northampton is wild af. If I came here again, it would be to get the tacos, which I felt were the closest to fair pricing (their combo 3 taco plate is probably the best deal. 3 tacos + 2 sides for $13), but I would skip on the rest. The vibe here is v casual, they have indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff is friendly, so all of that is good. :) read more

This is a new place that has had no hiccups. We have done the family meal, fish tacos, chicken tinga, flan, tostadas, and flautas. I love the depth of flavor and let me just say, I would follow that lime crema anywhere on the menu! Tonight, it got me to try the beef barbacoa tostadas and I will definitely be ordering them again. Pleeeeeease have the fish tacos as a special again!!! We were talking with friends last week who said they keep checking to see when they're back as a special and we do the same thing! This place also works well for us because we need some gluten-free options. And this has gluten-free options where you don't feel like you're missing *anything.* The service is great, too. My son is new to the area - just helped him move in & decided to grab some lunch to bring back to the apartment. We were pleased to find Masa Mexicano close by. Food was ready quickly - and staff was very attentive. I forgot to take my credit card and the guy at the register ran out to wave me down as I was leaving. Very grateful. Our family gets food here once or twice a month and we've never had a bad meal. Tamale nights are especially good. They do a great job, keep it very interesting with rotating specials, and they work hard to be personal and keep people coming back. read more

Nice people...pleasant environment. Can't say much about the food though. While it was presented well, the beef was so dry that it was unpleasant to eat. There was literally no moisture in it...drained of whatever liquid it once had. Just super dry shreds of a once lovely piece of meat. I also repeatedly asked for no cilantro as I despise the stuff and my order was loaded with the evil green weed. Not just a little but a virtual mountain of foul cilantro. Ruined the whole dish. Fantastic food. My companion and I were both thrilled with the quality. There's not a lot of seating, it's not a sit down restaurant with romantic ambiance. It's an order at the counter, sit down and enjoy the amazing food type of place, and it's in a shopping plaza. It's so good, I hesitate to even share with the world, because I want to be able to get a seat there next time I'm nearby. read more

Come on out to masa Mexicano. Steak tacos were delicious with fresh double corn tortillas and salsa. I had the roja salsa not too spicy so go for that. Beans were super smooth and delicious served hot and not at all salty. Rice was Flavorful red Mexican rice also well spiced and not too salty. Fresh roasted jalapeño side is a nice touch. Way above the usual western mass mex fare. Make the effort to get here it doesn't disappoint read more

Labor Day weekend!! Got a blip on my Facebook page saying they had Papusas and Tamales. Hoped in the car and off we went!! Though their web site said closed we came anyway. Really nice staff!! We bought pork, beans and cheese pupusas And chicken tamales. We ate there, the pupusas were hot and fresh. Kinda hard to eat it with plastic ware. Took home the Tamales -- I can say they were the best I've had on the East coast. Coming back to taste more soon! read more

I got the 3 el pastor tacos for $12.00.. Very flavorful, surprised there were no burritos on the menu. Owner/chef seemed nice. Only complaint is $6.00 for a very small bag of chips and salsa. I was born and raised in California and chips and salsa are always free since they are nothing but fried leftover corn tortillas from the day before that would be otherwise thrown out. Definitely be back to try different things, but will be bringing my own chips lol read more

Mexican food the way Mexicans make it. Everything is made to order, so you may have to wait a bit. Totally worth it. If they ever get a license to sell beer and wine, they'll conquer the world. This family-run gem opened in Florence recently and is authentic Mexican in the middle of nowhere. It has things you can't make on your own and typically could only find in a large city. The indoor atmosphere is sparse, but that's typical of any Mexican Cantina. Outdoor dining is quite safe during covid. Being friendly during covid is particularly hard and they pull it off. They did forget my guacamole, a minor thing like that happens as a restaurant gets its footing. Hopefully this will be around for some time. Try the flan. You won't regret it. read more

Name another area restaurant that's celiac safe. One of the owners is celiac, so this restaurant knows what's going on (the only items that aren't gluten-free are their tortas (sandwiches), which are prepared in an entirely separate space from anything else to ensure there is zero cross-contamination). Food is top notch with a rotating menu of specials. Outdoor seating is available on good weather days, and they have online ordering. The staff is great and super friendly. Proud to call this one of my local neighborhood digs. I eat here a few times per week. read more

I chanced on this new restaurant when I noticed their sign on Nonotuck. I ran in, ordered Beef Barbacoa tacos, and headed home with the bag. As soon as I shut my car door I started to smile; the aroma of my lunch was delightful. My container had three corn tortillas full of beef and other fixings, with an amazing salsa Fresca on the side. This is the real deal, folks. Excellent Mexican food made with traditional masa and lots of flair. I usually don't expect a great salad in most Mexican restaurants, but their salad is spectacular and large enough for two. I ordered food there soon after they opened. The service was okay, and so was the food. It was new, and Covid still an issue, so the ambiance wasn't too great. The masa tortillas were too thick, and there wasn't a lot of choices. It may have improved by now, but I'm not too inclined to try again. read more

Loved my experience here two weeks ago. Stopped by for the very first time during a cold windy winter day and the two young gentlemen behind the counter (one cook, one helper) were extremely kind. Took the time to explain the numerous options on the board and then allowed me to make a replacement for Horchata instead of a soda drink for a Lunch Menu, without charging me extra because I was a first time visitor and am currently between jobs. How many people help others like that these days? And the food (tacos) was delicious as well, coming from someone who has been to Mexico and grew up in New Mexico. Thank you! read more
