I really like Mesa Verde! I lived in Austin,TX for 4 years and a good burrito goes missed so I'm glad I found Mesa Verde. They always get my order perfect, and I'm the kind of person who omits cheese, adds tofu, that sort of thing. But they never skip a beat and they are friendly and helpful. The margaritas are wonderful. They also really do a good job catering to all types of people, vegetarians and vegans alike. Ok, my wife and I LOVE Mesa Verde and we are always trying to turn people onto it. We went there around 2pm yesterday, Fri Dec 26th. We took 3 friends who were first timers and this was our Christmas get together. We were greeted with the WORST customer service we have ever gotten there....actually almost the worst ever anywhere. We were so embarrassed. I do not remember her name but she was tall, black hair, nerdy glasses and a tattoo on her chest. She was rude to not just us but everyone she waited on. The food was good but they did mess up one dish. While eating we could hear her complaining to someone about how she "hates working here" amongst other obscenities. If I was the manager and I heard this, I would have fired her instantly. Our friends liked the food but said they would never return based on the service. read more

Haven't been here too many times but the Mojo Pork Burrito is definitely my favorite. I've also had the chorizo bowl which is good as well. For only around $8 after tax, the bowl is fairly priced for what you get. read more

I have been going here for years. It is delicious. My favorite dish is simple - a cheese quesadilla with grilled chicken inside. I love the Halloween style skeletons and decorations, and the staff is very friendly too. Perfect for both kids and adults, and the location is pretty cool too. There is also nice outside seating. I've eaten maybe three times at Mesa Verde now and enjoyed it every time. The first time I ate here, all three of us - two Hispanic friends and SoCal-born me - pronounced the burritos huge and awesome, and also not nearly as greasy as any of us expected, given prior experiences at other joints; these were healthy burritos! The second time I ate here, I spotted this great lady who works in the after-school program at the school I do comm serv at - I always feel better about restaurants I see people I know at, so that made me feel great, even if that has nothing to do with the food really. Anyway, most recently, me and two other Californians went on a Saturday to relax and unwind. Again, the burritos were pretty huge. V and I tried to have a burrito eating contest. That was a bad idea - we both finished our burritos and were stuffed! I was broke that day, so I only had a boring ol' bean and cheese burrito, but I got hot sauce with it, which definitely worked. I'm very good with spiciness, so it wasn't quite hot enough for me, but we all pronounced it sufficient. We also ordered some chips and salsa. The salsa wasn't that salsalicious in my estimation, being mostly comprised of tomatoes and lacking spiciness/generally other flavours, but I love tomatoes and it was totally fresh of course so I'm not complaining TOO much. The music was, uhm, interesting, though not unpleasant. At first we thought it might be a radio station because of the random choices! All in all, Mesa Verde felt pretty laid back , even down to the decor, but still quite nice. I'd bring my parents here (in fact, I DID bring my parents here!). One of the brightest moments of this dining experience was when we walked in and immediately noticed bottles of Jarritos in the lil fridge! I had never had Jarritos before, despite the fact that I'm from California and all. V explained that it was a soft drink imported from Mexico and frequently found in authentic Mexican places. Apparently the mandarin flavor is best, but Mesa Verde only had mango (it was great) and strawberry. That's all right, though - the fact that they even had Jarritos at all so far from the Mexican border was already pretty impressive! read more

This is Mexican food, New England hippie style. Some of these dishes have probably never been eaten in Mexico (red onion quesadilla? chicken fajita burrito?). Nobody involved in the cooking may ever have been to Mexico. But it's tasty and fresh and relatively healthy (fresh limeade!) and the atmosphere of the place is so charming that I'm bumping my rating up to a four, and I practically never give points for atmosphere. read more

Really used to love this place. Went for the first one tonight in a year to discover the chips were slightly stale, the rice overcooked, and the taquitos overall lacking in flavor. What I like is, this not a 'copycat' of the franchise burrito places; they go their own way here. On my one visit (so far) I had the jalapeño burrito, and a large side of salsa, no chips. I was intrigued by the notion of building a burrito around grilled jalapeño, and it works (rice and beans delivers the protein.) It is hot, but not crazy hot. Could possibly be better with a tangy component like a hot sauce. The salsa was freshly made, very garlicky, and underscored the chef's commitment to 'do it their was.' Mesa Verde has gigantic burritos with wholesome ingredients. Everything is fresh and delicious. In truth they are better than Bueno y Sano but thankfully they are too far apart to compete because that would be forcing me into a truly uncomfortable choice. They are also known for top notch margaritas. They are more than reasonably priced: great for a quick lunch. Lots of options, too. I usually default to blackened chicken burritos, but you can't go wrong with steak, pulled pork, or tofu either. They also have tacos, quesadillas, and enchiladas. All excellent. read more

Mesa Verde is a Cal/Mex cafeteria style eatery in Greenfield, MA. Great food w/reasonable prices. The best salsa in Happy Valley and super catfish tacos. Excellent Guac - and my husband loves the sumptuous vegie bowl with extra tofu. Whole wheat wholesome available too. The food can't be beat for quality and price - also try the limeade - I take it easy on the ice - and salt free very tasty chips. This place started out as a cooperative - I am not sure if it still is but the staff is friendly and the food is terrific for the price. read more

Funky decor and I loved it! But its the food is where it is at! I had a sautéed spinach and garlic burrito in a bowl, which was phenomenal. Tender spinach sautéed to perfection with chopped garlic, served in a bowl of flavorful black beans and rice, jack cheese, chopped tomatoes, and a, dollop of sour cream. We started with some nachos and they were freaking awesome...these tasted light and were crispy, topped with Monterey jack cheese and a side of wonderful, tasty picante sauce. The person taking our order asked if we wanted it hot, spicy or mild...which we truly appreciated! Prices reasonable . Atmosphere fun, electric, vibe laid back but not unconscious. I go here nearly every week with my writing group. Most of the food is delicious, especially the enchiladas and the fish tacos. The local beer on tap is always good, as is the guacamole. If you get a rice bowl or salad it's usually a generous amount of food. Sometimes the quality and portion sizes are inconsistent, and the margaritas are pretty weak. read more

We stopped here while on a trip recently. It's definitely a unique, offbeat place and I thought reflective of this small town itself. The chips, salsa and guacamole were outstanding. My girls loved their salad bowls and I had a grilled jalapeño burrito with chorizo. First, they use fresh jalapeños and roast them over a fire. The chorizo seemed to be of the Spanish variety rather than the Mexican variety (which is more healthy). On the plus side, food quality was very good, selections were solid. The only thing that made me grimace a bit was the serve yourself community silverware baskets. Too many potentially uncleared hands digging in this bin for my liking. read more

I have to start by saying I am a fan of Mesa Verde, when I am in the Greenfield area, I will stop in for lunch and take it to go. I did that today and for the first time I was disappointed in what I received. I ordered the Blackened Chicken Burrito - what I got was a burrito with no cheese, very little pico, overloaded with black beans and the worst part was - the seasoning was just dumped in a pile on the rice/beans, not mixed and the result was a pasty tasting burrito that was overseasoned on half of it and plain on the other. On top of that, the burrito literally, fell apart - I hate to say it but it will be a while before I go back there, this visit left me wondering if things are slipping in the wrong direction for this restaurant (noticed that there are two other yelpers who also had rough experiences this month). read more

Delicious! My wife and I are *major* fans. We'd been meaning to try it out for months after moving to Greenfield, having been Taco Bell devotees for most of our lives. Let me tell you something -- if you want Taco Bell, eat Taco Bell. If you want cheap, fast Mexican food that tastes awesome? Eat at Mesa Verde. If you call for takeout, even a huge order is ready for pickup within 10-15 minutes. I see other reviews talking about the indifference of the staff, but every time I've been in (which is to say 5 out of the last 7 days, while I renovate my kitchen), the people behind the counter have been polite, friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to serve. The food is incredible, the portions generous, and the price fits easily within the skinny confines of my wallet. The leftovers are incredible the day after, and if you say 'make it hot', you'd better damn well mean it, because they sure do! The Thai burrito is without a doubt one of the best fusion dishes I've ever had, plus, it's the size of a 2lb bag of sugar, and if you can eat it in one sitting, you've obviously trained for it. The taquitos are crisply fried without an overabundance of grease, and served with heaps of seasoned rice and beans. They even have great vegetarian options, and fresh salad bowls for those of you who aren't up for a heavy meal. Also, the fresh-squeezed limeade is the perfect accompaniment to any of the spicy dishes. read more

Mesa Verde is one of our favorite restaurants. They have their own unique take on mexican food. Normally, I would say, "Leave Mexican food alone! It is perfectly delicious. Don't mess with it." But they do a great job. We generally like everything, but definitely have our faves. Let's start with the salsa - so good! You must try it. The enchiladas are tasty. I had heard really good things about Mesa Verde, so I was excited to go check it out. I love Mexican and Tex-Mex food and I've been looking for a new favorite spot around here (just moved to the area from Boston). I have to say that I was pretty disappointed. The decor was nice. They had a beautiful art installation which I thought was a nice touch, the color scheme was great and the stained glass windows somehow fit in very well with the atmosphere. But I have no idea why anyone would think that playing elevator music in a Mexican restaurant would be a good idea. The food- awful. I've had better burritos from Taco Bell. I'm not a super picky person, but this burrito tasted like the rice, beans and pico de gallo had all been boiling in a pot together for two days and then shoved into a stale tortilla. All in all, it wasn't a particularly welcoming environment. There was a lot of shouting and laughter coming from the back room, so at least they were having a better time than I was. The prices are very reasonable, though. I'm guessing that it's probably worth it if you go for the drinks rather than the food, and you'll probably get better service if you're a regular. read more
