Even in these unpredictable times, we still like to treat ourselves to a true gourmet steak dinner, and after finding Meritage on Doordash, that's what my lady and I did recently. And it was definitely a great dinner! I'd seen this place before but neither my lady nor I had ever been there, but after seeing their menu and pics of their steaks on Doordash, we had to give 'em a try. So, on a Friday night, my lady ordered the filet mignon with a twice baked potato, and I ordered the New York strip with a loaded baked potato. Both steaks were perfectly cooked to medium and VERY well seasoned. Both potato dishes were very tasty too. Plus it didn't look like they just crammed the food into the carry out boxes like some places tend to do. Yes, bonus points for carry out box presentation. I'm definitely glad we saw Meritage on Doordash. It made for a great gourmet steak dinner for sure, even for carry out. I went to Meritage for dinner last night - it was a first. We sat upstairs where they had live blues and a nice warm fireplace. The restaurant is nothing less than charming, especially the cute little village it is nestled within. I'm on a meatless fast so I was definitely limited on options, although I was able to make it work. For starters the bruschetta was DELICIOUS!! It was perfect... I haven't had bruschetta that fresh in a long time. I then had a Caesar salad and French onion soup for dinner-- which although good, were pretty standard. You will love this place! This restaurant is in an old house with beautiful stain glass windows and right next to he village square. This area is perfect! They also offer outdoor seating and a large area upstairs for private events or parties. Food! Appetizer: Queso Blanco with Chips. These were not ordinary chips. They are homemade tortilla chips. I absolutely recommend getting this. It was delicious and only $10. Main course: Filet Mignon with Wedge Salad. Wedge was great! Fresh crisp came with blu cheese dressing and crumbles and a balsamic. Great combination! Filet- I ordered medium rare and they nailed it. I also added a side of Bernaise and it was the perfect addition. This comes with a twice baked potato. Around $30 for the 8oz. We found this place though their reviews on Open table and it did not disappoint! We loved the charming little area of Glendale square and the historic train depot and were delighted by the warm welcome we received from the moment the opened the door and ushered us in! We were celebrating a mini family reunion dinner- each of us driving from different states to meet - and our server (I wish I could remember her name, she was expecting a baby soon) was absolutely lovely. She made our experience so memorable. Everyone ordered something different off the menu and all of it was excellent. There was live music and great cocktails, apps came out hot and fresh, our server knew just when to check back on us and even took a family photo. With our little group she convinced us to tried several of the desserts and we were not disappointed! We loved this little gem so much I wish I could come back more often. In town with 5 others to wedding dress shop weekend of Feb 9, 2024. Our party consisted of 6 people from Kentucky and Delaware. Picked Meritage because of the menu selection. Arrived at 7:15 and was seated promptly. At 8 pm we had to ask if there was a server for our table. Minutes later the server appeared. Server was Mika. Took our drink order and approx.10 minutes later our glasses of water showed up. The water tasted like chlorine. When the drinks arrived we asked for bottled water and ordered our food. The bottled water never showed up. When our salads were served we asked the salad person for bottled water. Mika finally appeared again with the bottled water. When the meal came, all of the steaks, fish, scallops, pasta were barely warm. After dinner we asked to see the manager. A person from the kitchen came out, I questioned the gratuity for non-service and he kept repeating "party of 6 or more, 20% gratuity" as I continued to complain, he kept repeating the same sentence. Fast forward - Monday 2/12/2024 - Called and asked for a Manager - Spoke to Kristie and because I was in remote area I lost her in the middle of my story. Called back, finished my story and she said that she spoke to the server, Mika, who is also her assistant manager, and that isn't what happened and that wasn't the story Mika told her and said she was sorry. We weren't looking for compensation, but to be frank, the manager didn't really care either. My advise, pick another dinning venue - WE ALL HAVE CHOICES and maybe Kristie doesn't understand that. read more

Excellent food and service. Ask for the Brussels sprout side or appetizer. They don't have it on the menu and it is by request only. They are the best Brussels sprouts I have ever had! They have great cocktails and salads. The fish selection was great. Truly a fantastic find! read more

Staff was nice but oh MAN the chef is pepper crazy. My filet was coated in black pepper, i'm all about spice but even this was too much. The twice baked potatoes were inedible because of the spice in it. If things weren't so coated in black pepper everything would've been great! Someone take the pepper away from the chef!!! read more

I wasn't really too impressed with this place. The area was cute, but the food and drinks were just mediocre. We came in late on a Tuesday evening and started with a manhattan and the mussels. The mussels were delicious, but I kept getting grits of sand as I ate them. The manhattan was okay and reasonably priced with a cheap maraschino cherry. I always look forward to the cherry...when they are the good ones. We opted to share the special NY strip steak, which was prepared medium rare, as we had ordered. There wasn't any music on inside the restaurant, so we could hear all of the conversations around us and in the kitchen. They were not busy at this time, but there were a few other tables finishing up. Our food took an excessively long time to prepare and serve. Our server also took a long time to bring us the check. I think the dishes are overpriced and the food was good. Just good. No real wow factor. read more

My husband and I felt very unwelcome this evening. When we walked in, expecting to be greeted with "Welcome is it just the two of you for dinner tonight?" The prime rib 12oz was $30- which is fine if it's good quality but it was one of the worst cuts of meat I've ever had. It had so much gristle and tendon that I couldn't cut it- even with a sharp steak knife. Easily 60% of my $30 piece of meat was inedible. Put us at a small table facing the kitchen and the bar...couldn't hear a word it was so loud. They moved us to a better table but it was still so loud we had to yell at the waitress and each other! Based on that outside of the restaurant and of my friend's recommendation I had high expectations. Maybe because they are being thoughtful about inventory, by the meal I had failed to impress. The French and and save was very flavorful. The onions, the chunks of bread, the seasoning in the soup was excellent. But the soup was only warm and not hot. When they melted the cheese on top, it seems that the super itself wasn't heated fully. And I like my soup to be hot. Then I had fish tacos. There was so much tortilla it overwhelms the fish. They probly use the same tortilla for the wraps. They should use a smaller taco tortilla. I found myself tearing off half of the tortilla so that I didn't feel like I was eating tortilla with a little bit of fish. Now the fish itself was well prepared, grilled and flavorful. But also the additional ingredients didn't do much for me. Diced tomatoes, some greens and almost a 1000 island dressing. The dressing seemed like an odd choice. read more

We came in tonight because we picked a card at random from our Foodie Cincy Deck. Service was great. The food, although sounded amazing in the descriptions, was mediocre -nothing to write home about. The Meritage Burger: soggy bun, minimal balsamic reduction, lackluster soft sweet potato fries. The crab cake stuffed trout: pretty meh. Dessert chocolate cake was just okay. Nothing was worth the price. The worst part of the experience, though, was their non-alcoholic beverages. Water and ice had a strong foul chemical taste, so we decided to order a soda and lemonade. They both tasted equally bad, so I'm guessing it's their whole water supply. I still have a chemical aftertaste as I write this an hour after leaving. Nice plaza and good servers, but don't think we'll be coming back. read more

I came here for my company's holiday lunch a few weeks ago and had an OK experience. The service was fantastic considering we had about 16 people there during lunch hour and they were very attentive and accommodating.. however, my food experience did not match that level of service. I had ordered their fish taco special which came with two white flour tacos filled with grilled fish, arugula, chipotle sour cream sauce, tomatoes, and onions. I wish it had come with fresh pico de gallo or something because it was overall lacking substance and it had way too many red onions in it.. I typically love raw chopped onions in anything, but the onion overpowered these tacos so much that I had to pick some out.. not only that, but I had to pick out THREE fish bones out of my mouth when eating... Based on my co-workers' overall experiences with their food and my own, I could say that nothing here would particularly bring me back and there are other places that I would prefer when it comes to American food and seafood. This is an excellent restaurant, not too posh but posh enough to please all but the terribly picky people who should simply stay home. Katy was our server last weekend and the evening was just great. Cheryl and I split a large Prime Rib and with exception of the missing horseradish which we did not miss until we were in the car on the way home. The general manager dropped by our table. This time it was not because we were making too much noise but to help our friends find the perfect wine that was not a Merlot or a Cabernet. Somehow he found the right wine because our friends settled down after that to enjoy their Vino. We had a very nice Cabernet Sauvignon whose name escapes me at this instant. Eat here! My experience with Meritage Restaurant in Glendale was truly a wonderful experience I was looking for a kind of Romantic place to get a gift card for my daughter and a friend of mine suggested Meritage. Upon my visit The front of the house manager gave me a complete overview of the restaurant including entertainment and suggested food recommendations. Even offered to give me a tour. I bought two gift cards one for my daughter the other for myself. We were there on Saturday evening. (Reservations recommended). We were seated upstairs and had the Prime Rib. Cooked to perfection with the Meritage salad which was excellent and the loaded baked potato with butter, sour cream, bacon and chives. The service was top notch drinks were served. And the acoustical guitar performer played at a level that you could actually have a dinner conversation. The musician was confident enough not to need applause and played familiar tunes that everyone enjoys. The restaurant has a pastry chef that makes in house desserts. Our meal was so filling we opted out. We will try them on our next visit. The restaurant also has a nice patio. Your can bring your pet. Chef /owner Kristie Fowee is a stickler for freshness and things being done correctly. The restaurant exceeded our expectations and we will become regulars The restaurant is a little hard to find because it is on the Square. Not on the Main Street. Easily the best meal I've had an a very long time! My mom and I were looking for a nicer restaurant with amazing food and this was absolutely that and more! The staff is wonderful and welcomes you with open arms. Everyone is so friendly and kind and is genuinely happy you are there. And then there's the food...AMAZING! I've been to the Meritage twice. The first time was good. Service was slower, and the wait staff was scarce. This last weekend was way worse, and we will not return. My order was not cooked properly. Over charred on the outside and over cooked on the inside. (Asked medium, received well done. The steak lacked seasoning and the twice baked potato was also lacking flavor and over cooked. The drinker had an intense syrup taste and virtually no carbonation. My wife's meal has the same issues except her pork chop. Charred on the outside and way undercooked on the inside. It had to be sent back over fears of food poisoning. (Cold and pink/purple on the inside) When it was brought back out, the pork chop was over way over cooked. Will not be back. read more
