We had our pre-ASU graduation meal here on a Monday afternoon. It was around 3:30pm and it wasn't very busy. We were a party of eight. We had several pizzas, a burger and the grandson had his wings. Service was prompt and efficient. My small mushroom pizza was more than enough for me. The crust was airy and well spiced and the sauce was not too sweet. Our server Harry was very attentive. This place is located on NW area of Mill and University, slightly East of ASU and the football stadium. Inside has some cool decor. They have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options which helps for those with that preference. The veg out pizza was ok, pretty much what you would expect. The wings were pretty good (see photo). Not overwhelming but decent. The prices are pretty high, the online menu does not show the prices but several people have posted the menus. You would think so close to ASU the prices would be more reasonable for starving college students but no so. On their website: mellowmushroom.com they do post their nutritional information. Wonderful experience whenever I stop in. Clearly labeled gluten free/vegan/vegetarian so let your server know and they'll totally understand the lingo. I had the Great White Pizza custom made vegan and gluten free! Just had to ask (as it's labeled only vegetarian on the menu) and they said vegan would be no problem. Crust is thinner than a normal pizza which is typical for gluten free and I actually prefer it thin! The tomatoes were soooo good and the basil/vegan cheese was fresh. A bit too oily for my liking, but was fun to get creative and I'd still recommend this place for solo or group night out for sure! Lunch for 5 here last week. My daughter and her husband have been long-time Mellow Mushroom fans in Portland, and brought their 5-year-old son. He was happy with the kids meal - the fries were thumbs-up. We split a large Holy Shiitake among the four of us. Just perfect for lunch. Flavor was good, but not as garlicky as the incarnations they had before. Overall a good experience - it was nice that ASU classes were out for the holidays so the place was empty. Great happy hour 3-6pm, or 9pm-close, Mon-Fr. Yes, this is a chain restaurant, but the pizza is solid and taps are clean. The bar has quick and friendly service. I'm honestly not sure why the reviews aren't great, this is one of the better options on Mill. Back in AZ visiting family. We frequented the Mellow Mushroom in Ahwatukee and was craving some great pizza! Our Airbnb was not far from the Tempe location. Ordered door dash- ordered four pizzas and 20 wings. Pizza was amazing as always! Service was quick for door dash. Hard to beat Mellow Mushroom's flavors and homemade crust. Nothing stands out really here. Food is good but not memorable for pizza. I thought there was way too much crust on the pizza. The wings were rather small. The only thing that stood out was the cost. I've came here twice recently just to eat before my movie started and it was just ok each time. The first time I sat at the bar and got a mock tail and pizza. The bar felt greasy and like humid in that area so it didn't feel good. The mock tail was average, a little too much whatever syrup goes in there and the pepperoni pizza was good. The second time I came in I asked to sit at a booth since I thought it would be cleaner there. It was not, the booth had so many grease spots and crumbs that were obvious to see. We hadn't been to Mellow Mushroom in probably 10 years. Crazy! We found a Groupon deal $31 for 15 so we made the trip to Mellow Mushroom Did not disappoint, we didn't go Vegan for our pizza or our free pretzel bites because we don't like veggie cheeses and would rather no have them. So we ordered the Great White and it was wonderful! Olive oil and garlic on the crust followed by many wonderful cheeses, roasted tomatoes and fresh tomatoes and onions. Super yummy! A large specialty pizza is $29 dollars, so a little pricey but Great service, Great Atmosphere and Great Food. Definitely worth the splurge The Pretzel bites came with beer cheese or spicy cheese. We had the spicy super yummy too!! Taste even better when they are free, signed up for their new letter and received the free bites! The Hostess and the Server were kind. If this were only about them, the score would have been higher. This was my first visit and probably my last. Elevated Cobb salad was recommended to me. From the presentation on the menu, it looked to be heartier than a standard Cobb. It's a hot day in the city. I wanted something that was both lite and filling. If I'd left the moment I received my order. I'd have missed the server bringing the bacon that had been omitted from the salad. If the place had been packed, I could have excused the packaging presentation of my salad. I also could have forgiven the bacon almost being left off. But it was 3:30pm and the crowds had not yet arrived. It may sound crazy but I think you can feel, and taste, the love and energy put into food. This didn't look, feel or taste like love. Got here on a Saturday afternoon around 2:50 pm. Maybe 2 other couples were here. It took 40 minutes to get our food. I had an avocado hoagie which came out cold and had no mozzarella cheese. The server took it back and they told him they didn't have any so he took 50% off my meal. The pizza, burger and Avocado Hoagie was very good. It's nice inside, lots of open space. They have Mother Earth Cali Creamin on Nitro tap! This beer is so tasty and not many places even have it much less on nitro. This alone means I'll be back. And we all know their pizza is tasty with half & half options on any size. Front Service was great too although we did come on a slower Tuesday night and the pizza took a long time. Wow! Our first stop for getting grindz in AZ and what a great first impression! I got the small (4x slice aka personal pan) and it was just the right size. I was torn between the Thai dye and the buffalo chicken pizzas and the bartender suggested I get both b/c here, you can get half/half pizzas, even in a small, so heck yeah I did that. Boy did I not regret it! This place has some absolutely bomb pizza! The flavors in each bite were amazing. Both pizzas were so good, I savored each and every bite. I ended up eating the whole pizza though I could have stopped about 3/4 of the way but it was just that good. Looking for some beer to go with your pizza? How about 48 beers on tap?! I had a quick chat with the bartender (again), this time about their selection. I told him I wanted a locally brewed hazy IPA. Her immediately suggested the Spellbinder, starting it was his favorite or of all 48 beers currently on tap. How could I not go with it? He immediately brought me a sample, without me even asking. That made me happy. I gave it a taste and a pint I requested. It was indeed delicious and went perfect with my pizza. With so many different options I never thought of stopping in here. I left with a large pizza and it was excellent. I recommend getting it well done for a toasty crunch. Placed our order, email confirm at 11:50. Went to pick up and was told the kitchen closed earlier and just the bar was open until 1am. All this I understand BUT no one called, text or emailed me to cancel my Togo order placed way earlier and was only told when we got there and no food was made. The system let me place the order (used their site not a 3rd party). The location nearest us closed so we ate at this one recently. Ordered online for pizzas and pretzels. Pretzels came out like crescent rolls- getting smaller and smaller- not even shaped like a "pretzel" and were not flavorful. The pizzas were lukewarm and we arrived right on time. The pretzel bites are delicious and unlike the coarsely salted and dense pretzel bites at other restaurants. It feels more like biting into fluffy pizza crust with a hint of Parmesan. My favorite pizza is the Holy Shittake Pie, which is full of mushroom, onion, truffle oil, and shaved Parmesan. It has a garlic aioli drizzle on top, which I usually get on the side, because I love mushroom and don't like the garlic overpowering the taste. This place was soooo good! The waitress recommended the Thai chili wings and OMGGGG I would have never thought that it would taste THAT GOOD!!! Literally craving them again!
