We discovered (well really re-discovered after 5+ years) Original ChopShop when we were in town for the IronMan. What a delicious surprise and local gem, right near ASU. They serve salads, bowls, sandwiches, all-day breakfast, protein shakes, fresh juices, and other healthy, fast-casual eats for dine-in or take-away. My kind of place! This is one of those spots that I'd frequent if I lived nearby (ChopShop, want to open in Northern California?!). I stumbled upon this spot after a little self-guided tour of ASU campus on a sleepy Sunday morning (everyone must have been asleep after the big football game the day before). I'd forgotten about this spot and it was such a happy surprise to find it again and to see that they survived the pandemic and are still thriving. First visit I ordered: -Cheat Day Wrap: scrambled egg, bacon, white cheddar, smashed avocado, tomato, brown rice (I ordered without rice), and turkey or ham (I skipped these too) *DELISH on a whole wheat wrap!!! Full of flavor and super easy to eat. This hearty breakfast sando fueled my active morning of hiking "A" Mountain (Hayden Butte Preserve) the running around the the IronMan course to spectate (30,000+ steps as a spectator!). We couldn't leave town without another trip. I took my guy and we enjoyed a salad, another breakfast wrap, and: -Chicken + Prosciutto Sandwich: grilled chicken, prosciutto, fontina, arugula, fig mostarda, dijon (no dijon for us), on a house bun. If you're in the area, looking for a healthy-ish breakfast, lunch, or snack, definitely check out Original ChopShop. Note: it gets busy at peak meal hours with students and faculty. Honestly the portions were terrible I came with my friend we ordered two bowls and probably got 4 pieces of chicken on each bowl. The flavor was good and vibe was chill just super cold. This is my first time at this location. We were in the area and stopped in to take friends to brunch before their flight. This is a perfect location. We made it after maneuvering construction in the area and just before the lunch rush. The entire staff was friendly and provided wonderful service. Last month, I went to the ASU Tempe Original ChopShop and had a negative experience where it took most of my lunch hour just to get my lunch especially after a substitution wasn't correctly done. My colleague finished her lunch well before I started mine. While it was overall a negative experience, I have been in touch with Original ChopShop and shared feedback with them and also was invited back to try a meal there again. I am pleased that my experience today was very positive and shows me that every restaurant has a one-off experience every now and then. When I arrived today just before the lunch hour, I expected there to be a line and a long wait though I walked right up to place an order where Brendan helped me customize a sandwich (ordering a Chicken & Prosciutto sandwich with the prosciutto being substituted for turkey). Brendan quickly caught on to what I wanted and ensured that the order was properly noted. He also told me about the seasonal lemonade (Strawberry Ginger Lemonade), which I thought might be too gingery though Brendan got me a small sample, and I liked it, so I ordered that, too. The sandwich and lemonade arrived in less than ten minutes to the table where I was sitting with the number they gave me. The sandwich and drink were both tasty, and I will be ordering both again soon. I also observed the kiosks being used regularly along with a lot of online orders showing up and picking their food up in a timely manner over the lunch hour. I realized also that my prior visit was the day after graduation when it was still very busy while today was a typical lighter summer day. I look forward to visiting again when it's busy during the academic year. My friend and I came here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. There is a lot of outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. You will have to find street parking because there is no dedicated parking lot. I believe I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl and it was really good! If you've ever been to Flower Child, the quality is comparable so you know it is really tasty. I liked that this place offers healthy and fresh options for lunch. Inside, you can either order with a staff member or with a self-serve kiosk. I wasn't too much of a fan of the inside aesthetic, but the outside was really pretty with plants and benches, chairs, and tables. I would come back here again! read more

Stopped in post workout at Orange Theory down the street. OG Chop Shop is a great spot. This particular location is located on the ASU campus and gets plenty of foot traffic. It's generally pretty quick and easy experience. I usually only go once in a while for a protein shake. My only real complaint about this spot is the smell!! When you first walk in it's a bit sewer-y. Is that a word? Well it is now. I've been to a few places that are like this and it's just unpleasant ambiance lol. But I'm usually in there and out. Yummy food to sit down and eat or take to go. I came here with a friend and got a Korean Steak Bowl; she got a teriyaki chicken bowl. Both were delicious and gluten friendly (always a plus for me). The bowls felt well-balanced (maybe a little heavy on the carb side) and the seating (indoor) was comfy! You order at the counter and then have the option of taking the food to go or sitting down. As I was riding my bike, I saw this place and made a quick stop to try it out. Now, make no mistake: this place has so many healthy items on its menu that it should please just about any health nut. But my first experience was not that great. They had plenty of places to sit, whether you like to sit indoors or outdoors. I decided to try the "Glow Up Shake," which is their protein shake. The shake was okay; it didn't blow me away. Considering that it has banana, pineapple, dates, etc., I was hoping it would melt in my mouth with a galaxy of flavor--darn, no such luck. But like I said, it was an okay drink that I think others might like. Now, as for the $3 pre-wrapped Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie? The first cookie they brought me was hard as a diamond. I asked if they could heat it up to soften it a bit like they do at Starbucks, but he said they can't? Wow, I didn't realize that heating a Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie was so complex that it can't be done by some places. Anyway, the minor good news was he brought me a different cookie that was soft enough to bend and break off a piece and chew without worrying about breaking a tooth. But the big question is, will I be back? Of course I will; the place has a plethora of healthy food which I like. I have always loved this place and I've probably been to various Chop Shop locations throughout Phoenix about 100 times over the years. There are a couple of terrible changes they have made that have ruined the experience for me. The main issue is the digital kiosks to order; no longer does somebody take your order. The kiosks require the customer to sift through the endless options and changes to your order and they have duplicate options on just about every ingredient which made the process confusing. On top of that, my order didn't even process and the screen told me to find an employee to review the order. Pointless and a vibe killer. Feels like the covid days are still going in here. In addition, they are now cashless which is a bummer as I prefer to use cash. Won't be back, unless Chuckbox is as full as it is today. read more

Stopped by ChopShop for the first time and while I was excited about the menu, I felt like the food was just alright. Opted for the Greek-ish salad and the Cool Down juice. The Greek-ish was tasty, however they went too heavy on the dressing and it made my salad a bit soggy. The Cool Down juice was actually the most disappointing, it was actually warm when it was dropped off at my table. I tried adding ice and it still was foamy and seemed off. A great choice for a late breakfast/early lunch. Staying at a hotel nearby and I wanted something "healthy" to eat. This place has a great menu with a lot of variety. I actually had a hard time deciding on my meal. After much consideration I decided on the Zen bowl ($8) + add sweet potato hash ($1) and a 16oz cold buster ($6.75). I really enjoyed the juice. It was fresh and very tasty. The bowl was also very good. I liked the combination of scrambled eggs, rice, spinach and mushrooms. I'll probably crave this often going forward. As I got to the bottom of it there was something very salty. Maybe the added sweet potato hash? I couldn't figure it out but I was glad it was towards the bottom and didn't disrupt the overall taste. My boyfriend got the muscle malt shake ($7) with almond milk ($.50) and a Teriyaki chicken bowl ($11.50) with quinoa ($1.00). The protein shake was 24oz. He wanted a smaller option because he was pairing it with a meal but they only come in one size. Overall I would definitely come back here. Healthier options, reasonable prices and a good variety. Ordered carry out from the Warner location. Ordered The Grinder sandwich. While the rye bread was tasty and fresh, the meats were almost non-existent, relatively tasteless and didn't cover the sliced sandwich. There was a smattering of lettuce and onions and I think I saw a diced tomato too. Oh, there was a piece of pepperoni that had fallen off the sandwich. I had to add deli turkey I had in the refrigerator to perk up the sandwich. Not at all worth the money paid. The steak salad bowl was half full and we counted about 8 pieces of meat. Minimal at best.
