I ordered delivery. If the time were earlier, I never would have justified my frivolous food delivery spend. Certain not the shops fault, totally mine. I got a bigger one, it was cut into quarters and was enough for 2 meals for me. The bread held up nicely even the next day despite the dressing and it was nice of them to put the feta on the side so I could be in charge of that. The feta was also delicious! It was good. I would go here to support over popular chains that may be considered comparable in the eyes of some. What made it incomparable? Local. I took a nap on the evening and then woke up in the middle of the night very hungry. I looked on uber eats and there was very little options open. This place was and sounded good so I tried it. When you step inside, expect narrow aisles and slightly dated decor. If you're a student looking for munchies or adult beverages, this probably isn't a big deal. The woman at the sub counter wasn't particularly friendly, but the man at the front register was nice. I ordered the full size Chicken Pesto. It's large enough to either share or to save half for another meal. However, the proportions were all off. It was mostly "meh" bread. Not worth the price. I am on a low carb diet right now, but I was craving a sub BADLY. My husband understood and ordered us some hoagies for delivery. I ordered the Third Dui and my husband ordered their italian sub. I have never met a sub that I didn't like and this was a really good sandwich! The Third DUI is just an italian but turkey meat is swapped in. The sandwich was not a soggy mess and stayed intact well. Their bread had a really nice chew but still soft, which kept everything really well balanced. I don't know if we'll ever go to their actual spot since it's by the ASU and driving around there is a nightmare for me, but it is now a delivery staple for us! read more

I am obsessed with this sandwich shop. Found it on DoorDash initially, and have never been disappointed, after eating from there at least five times. The meat is high quality, the bread is always fresh and toasted well, and the service is great as well-any modifications I've made have always been followed. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Had the effed up chicken 3 times on a 2 day trip to Tempe back in November. Came back in April today and came here before I even checked into the hotel. The effed up chicken is life changing and something I talk about back at home in Vegas regularly. To put this into perspective, I have never once in my life left a review and today downloaded yelp to do so. We were moving my nephew into college and we're looking for a sandwich place when I noticed this one had good reviews. We were a little surprised to see. It was part of a minimart, but I was not disappointed. We got the Italian and mine was heated. My sister was not heated, and it was one of the best sandwiches ever. I gave my nephew the details because this place is really damn good and the staff is super pleasant. The store that's associated with it actually carries a good amount of liquor and other items. This place is a sort of hidden gem within the liquor store and it's a quaint, no frill sandwich counter! The staff is super friendly and happy to give recommendations on the sandwiches. We tried the Drunken Philly and the Third DUI - the Third DUI was really really delicious, the Philly had a little too many mushrooms on it for my taste and could maybe use some sort of sauce but still good. The bread that they use is super fresh and soft and paired with the toastiness is really great. We got 2 sandwiches, 2 bags of chips, and a drink for under $30 so it's decently priced. The owners of HH really knew what they were doing locating their sandwich shop inside of Sun Stop Liquor, and their target audience! Genius really! Not sure how a Yelper listed the location as a con; as many Yelpers agree, get your Saturday night liquor and pregame sandwich here and save the other half for later! While perhaps not ideal for families, the location is clean! The sandwiches are made fresh! The bread is fresh! And the sandwiches aren't skimpily filled! I adore the Italian. I like getting a side of their hangover sauce to dip in. The cherry pepper spread is also unique and delicious. Get the 14"- it's a better deal and for me, is easily 2 meals. Hangover, drunchies or neither, this is a great sub shop hidden in Tempe! There's no seating, it's a to-go counter inside a liquor store (with A LOT of liquor). While you can order them on UberEats/Postmates, I prefer driving the less than 5min to order at the counter, see the owner (who's normally behind the counter). Plus you aren't getting upcharged by said delivery companies. Pro tip: buy your liquor AND a Hangover Hoagie in one foul swoop. Buy a 14" (better bang for your buck), eat half now, and save half later for drunchies. Level up with a combo (I go for a cookie or baklava + a pop). I've only to eat the Italian Hangover on wheat but the Drunken Philly, Third DUI & Pisshead Sub all sound really delish as well. Another thing, their ingredients really do taste fresh/higher quality than national competitors. And THEIR BREAD It's. so.fluffy (insert kid character from Despicable Me screaming it). We were around the area and family wanted a sammy. I found Hangover Hoagies on Yelp and we headed over. It's located in a little strip mall inside the liquor store. I was looking for a stand alone shop but it does have a big green sign in front that says Hangover Hoagies. It's a small clean spot with friendly employees that took our order. We got 3 8 inch Plastered Turkey BLT which came to $22 and change. The food was made quick and we were on our way. The bread was fresh and doughy with a nice top crust. The meat, cheese and veggies were fresh and so so good! They have a lot of add in options like pickles, onions, oil vinegar that you can add in and just makes it pop. We are suckers for good sandwiches and glad we tried this place out. The food is fresh and made exactly how you want it and they have sides like pasta salad, chips and drinks to make it a meal. The meatballs were tender and flavorful, nice simple tomato sauce and melty cheese. I found the sauce in the Impaired Chicken to be a little too tangy for me and felt maybe the ranch could be swapped for fry sauce/honey mustard/BBQ or something like that to tone down the sourness. There isn't much to this place, it's located inside a liquor store and the seating is limited to a few tables, but the food is worth it. My friend and I stopped by here today for lunch and I'm so glad we did. There was a little bit of a line, but not surprising as we stopped in around 12:30.
