Halfway through a long distance trip in our motorhome, our transmission's control module failed. We were stranded for a few days before barely making it into their shop. Gary quickly determined the problem but unfortunately due to the changing relationship between GM, Allison, and Workhorse, finding the part we needed was difficult - especially because we were in the middle of a holiday week. Paula was relentless in trying to locate the part, making phone calls to anyone and everyone she thought could help - she even called the VP of Allison! A followup is in order for my earlier review: One of the recent repairs done on my diesel motorhome was to install a seal where the oil dipstick tube enters the engine. When I continued driving I found that it still leaked a bit, so I called for an appointment to have it checked again. They discovered the bottom of the tube had a small crack so they removed it, brazed it, and re-installed it. The job took three hours and I would have been willing to pay the time less the original repair. But there was no extra charge! I was surprised when they told me, and told them I'd gladly pay some towards the added work. But no, they simply wanted to make the repair right because they thought they had it the first time. Now... that's service in the old fashioned tradition and I sure appreciated it! Again... if you're running diesel equipment, you want a diesel shop, and a good one simply isn't going to be cheap. If you want it done right, Mello Truck Repair is the place to go in Modesto. read more

After visiting with family in Manteca Ca We were headed to Yosemite in our 38 ft Motor home. We had to be towed because of a fuel pump failure. The fuel pump had to be replaced with no stock on the shelf for a (2006) caterpillar fuel pump.This is how we were introduced to Joel and his crew at Mello Truck Co in Ceres California. Never go here, unless you want your wallet ripped off and your RV to be sobatoged. We took our RV in for an inspection and after holding on to it for over a month, we got it back in worse shape!! My husband found cut wires hidden under a sleeve to our generator that prevented the generator from running. They tried to sucker us for a control board and we we declined the repair, the generator would start at all anymore! We just went to have our RV Smoged, for the first time after purchasing it. The smog mechanic found that someone placed a plastic bag over the purge valve for the evap system that caused it to fail. Since they were the only mechanic shop to have it after purchasing it, we have no doubts that they it as well. Never, never go to them!! They are RIP off artists!! If ZERO stars were available, they would get 5-Zero-Stars!! read more

I have been bringing my work truck for repairs for 10 years. I have got to know most of the guys and girls at the shop. It came time for some major work on the top end of my 2005 duramax motor. So I felt comfortable about asking them to do the work along with any other issues they would find along the way. I talked with Joey about some of my possible limitations and he had no problem working them out with me. I have my truck back and it runs great. So, we come down the mountain from Yosemite, and suddenly our RV just quits. Our insurance could not find a tow truck that could tow us or a shop that was on their list to take us to, so we started calling those close to us. Our problem was electrical, we were referred to Mello, and thank goodness for that! They were able to get a tow truck to us, and get us in their yard just before closing. Joey Bettencourt, the owner, is beyond great at running his business, he is also very helpful and friendly. He put Nic on the trail to troubleshoot our problem, it was not a clear or obvious problem, however, it was eventually found, part ordered and replaced. Our problem caused a few fuses and bulbs to blow as well and they took care of all of that, thank goodness! One more thing, everyone in that yard works together to get the job done. It was a level of cooperation that was s pleasure to see. Needed transmission work on our RV. We called Freightliner and were directed here. We got a quick appointment and were greeted as if we were the only customer. Correy knew what we needed, gave us an honest appraisal of the time involved. Explained what was wrong, fixed it when he said he would, and allowed us to leave it for extra days while we visited friends. He met us on Saturday despite being closed, and could not have been more gracious. We had an engine warning light go on after we left and he stayed in touch with us as we drove.
